The writing was so bad that it kind of hit an overflow for me and went back around to being enjoyable. Like the whole coup arc was so poorly done and so thoroughly retarded that I thought it was like a joke. Walker(?) was the character who knew the whole thing was completely stupid and I thought we were supposed to be on his side. All the stupid shit in the game, I kind of gave a pass to in the moment.

If you can handle the first VN being nothing but a huge satire of how the nonsense and cliches of SoL romcom harems, and its second half being a gigantic info-dump and world-building for 35-40 hours and the main and final piece of the trilogy being a repeat of the 2nd story and then another 40-50 hours of reading then sure.

Its like Gundam in the sense Muv-Luv is a multimedia franchise. The spin-offs are really dominating it though, and Muv-Luv itself is a spin-off of a side-story of another series set in the same overall canon universe.

TE was just about how Yuuya hated his dad for going off and leaving his mom alone because "muh country", reinforced by his grandpa shittalking his dad and filthy jap (probably some bad feelings left over from WWII) at every opportunity he could get. But in the end his granddad secretly cared for him.

And then the second half of TE ends up being more about Russia and psychic Slavs than it is about Nippon.
