Different poster here. I'm actually really enjoying Toriyama's action so far (just finished the saiyan arc). Just in terms of pure fight scenes it's already one of my favorites.

Original poster here. They fights aren't the greatest but I like the whole style/aesthetic the manga has so it keeps me reading. It looks infinitely better than the anime.

I'm only up to the part were Gohan starts wrecking shit on Namek

HxH even though the action isn't that well done IMO. It's special ability/power lore/explanations are the best of any shounen manga (the nen system). The main reason I like it is the characters and sense of adventure pre-chimera arc (but it was still good in the chimera arc too).
The story in the dark continent arc so far seems more world/lore-driven than character driven than usual for HxH but that's fine too.

In terms of just pure fighting art, I really like dragon ball. That panel where goku kicks drum's eyes out is one of my favorites ever

The actual fight choreography and the way it's drawn may not be the best, but I personally really like how HxH will generally focus more on the tactics used in battle rather than just one super ultra ability trumping the other one at the last minute.

You know what, anon. I love Pitou too. I love fapping to lewd art of female Pitou, and even trap Pitou. But that arc. That fucking arc. It gave me so much fucking rage, that I wanted to see a fucking high tier villain die, and I didn't care if it was Pitou. And Gon did it with epic gusto.
