The more useful note would be trying to account for Berserk for the extra Fell Cleave and change, but this is just napkin math, not trying to go completely full retard on it, since I'm not even sure if the classes share the same base damage multiplier or not, and I don't have a link to the damage formula calculation shit offhand. Sure, I can do something quick for PLD's Holy Spirit nerf. The Holy spirit nerf is probably the most variable one since PLD's MP recovery can be quite variable between Sheltron usage and external sources of MP.

This is the highest PLD parse on fflogs (for Susano, like the other two), once again limited to 5:50 duration. https://www.fflogs.com/reports/PMN6T2hqn4gjL7ar#fight=1&type=damage-done&source=6&start=13813580&end=14165409

In this 5:50 time window, the Paladin used 23 Holy Spirits, for a total of 554.9 DPS.

With the Holy Spirit nerf, the PLD would have lost 690 Potency over the 5:50 timeframe. Since there's no Dark Arts or other shenanigans adjusting the base damage of Holy Spirit, we can do some simple math in this case to determine lost DPS:

- (400/430) * 554.9 = 516.18 DPS after nerf, or a loss of 38.7 DPS. Just a little bit over 1% total DPS (3,493)

It's a nerf, for sure, but people seem to be blowing it pretty out of proportion, much like the DRK/WAR changes.

Assuming we round up to 2% overall damage gained/lost by the tanks, this would put the highest parses (Susano, Player Damage Done) for each tank at:

PLD - 3518.2
DRK - 3339.8
WAR - 3280.6

Even if we push WAR to 3%, it just puts them on par with DRK, and PLD still very comfortably in the lead.

Oh for sure the numbers are super bloated and subject to all kinds of variable shit. Point is mostly to study the skill breakdowns to get a vaguely accurate representation of how often each skill that was changed is used, and math from there.

On the whole I'd agree, the tanks should be fairly tight on DPS now, with less of PLD stomping the other two, though (IMO) I feel like that pushes more argument onto taking PLD/DRK as they have more utility in their kits than WAR, but there is certainly argument to take each of the tanks based on situation (Which I expect is what we'll see in world first runs).

Yeah but I would rather had the class be actually fixed but it seems that wont happen till 5.0 when they can justify reworking Eye of the Dragon and the UI so that it doesnt take as many eyes to get to Life of the Dragon.

They have many ways to make it not cancer to play Dragoon but they all involve changing how the expansion abilities work which they probably wont do cause they're a Japanese company.

Eye of the Dragon is there to make up for the disembowel nerf but its clunky to use and it having a tether is fucking stupid and feels like it was made so we couldnt use it on MCH and BRD. Its way too over-intrusive a change just to nerf another class.

Life of the Dragon is a super neat concept but it takes WAY to long to get there for what is essentially Geirskogul 2.0, it takes way to long to get there since it needs 4 resources thta are part of a 2 step process and the skill you gotta spam to get them has YET ANOTHER animation lock.
Oh and those 4 resources can just fall off during boss jumps and transitions, making all your work for naught and leaving you with just Eye of the Dragon and Animation-Lock-Dive, both which are annoying skills to use.

I really am not gonna get my hopes up, developers dont just change their vision or undo their hard work because players complain, quite the opposite, they double down or just dont have the time to make the changes they need when they need to rework mechanics. Its all gonna be bandaids till next expansion for DRG, SMN and MCH.

Yeah id rather just get 3.x DRG back and they can delete all the expansion skills cause they are worth fuck all.

Swap DRK/WAR based on if TBN is needed and if better AoE damage is needed.
Swap MNK/SAM whenever you like based on which performs better in a fight or if Brotherhood is valued high enough for specific phase pushes.

Best we can hope for is more cooldown changes and maybe potency buffs unfortunately.

The concept for dragoon right now is cool, it just doesn't deliver at all. Eyes staying even if BotD falls off would help since you could build up without worrying about wasting jumps or having to rebuild later cuz of mechanics or slow tank.

I think LotD just being a potency buff in general plus buffing Nastrond would fix most of the damage problems.

All the class balance discussions are a bit silly when the super hardcore groups just run players as <anything that shares the same gear, swap per fight based on what works best in that fight>. Im open to any buffs though I feel they need to be mechanical and not just potency or cooldown related since the problem I feel is how much less fun DRG is to play, potencies be dammed.

Having to use jumps as soon as possible to gain eyes negates the utility they once had but retains the animation lock risks on Jump and Ive said my piece on the new mechanics.

Eye retention and faster LotD would probably be enough to make DRG bearable to play until 5.0.

But if youre enjoying it as much as 3.x DRG then more power to you.

On paper, they're a sliiiight buff. Less heat generation = less Cooldown usage and harder to overheat for wildfire. Hot shot going from 5% to 8% just barely makes up for it.

Turret overload got double potency. This still makes it useless to use unless you know the boss is about to go into a phase transition or the trash pull is a an aoe or two from all dying.

So yeah, MCH is still going to be useless.
