Literally any of the three mage dads in FE4(Claude, Lewyn, Azel) make Arthur into one of the best second gen units.

The problem is, swords are kind of pointless on mage knights and warmages. So if you want a game where both swords and tomes are good on a mage knight, not sure about that one.

FE8 mage knights completely removed swords since they couldn't do str/mag in one.

Awakening Dark Knights were trash because you couldn't have a mounted Nosferatu user.

Fates dark knights have the worst weapon triangle spread because they can only use red items.

I think that's how most people build their Annas to take advantage of that sweet Spd of hers. Was contemplating giving her Distant Counter to make use of her good Res and I had a spare Hector but as an infantry she doesn't get access to crazy buffs to make really good use of it, so Fury is better for her, especially since she's also a starter with no access to merges (for now) and IVs. So I gave it to my Titania (+Def -Spd unfortunately but it still works) instead because I just kind of completed my cav team.

The earlier anon was wrong about the "best Archer on offense", yeah. However, Klein's got benefits that outweight Takumi. Klein gets to do what he does more easily and is more available. Takumi, at the "bonus" of 1 more Attack, requires someone to pass DB 3 and Brave Bow - neither of which come easy.

Nope, no CON. Weight is directly subtracted from Speed. Puts something of a damper on using Steel weapons, but I like it. Means you have to balance "Do I want to use Iron and hit him once, take a counter, and kill him with a second hit, or do I use Steel and kill him on one go, and potentially be unable to kill whatever attacks me next turn?". However, I thought about it, and I noticed Xander was the unit before her. So I think, since the colors cycled red->blue->green->white->repeat and the unit before Xander was white, she'll be blue. Also what the other anon mentioned, with her being associated with light spells.

But you know who else is associated with light spells? Lucius. So we'll have to wait until the 16th to see. At least the gauntlet banners will still be up, so if she's really bad you can pump orbs into the female mage banner instead. Not me, though. Twintails for life.

There's other builds of him to consider, this is just the one I like to use since it works for my team. As far as other less popular units, I am considering and slowly building up: *3 Virion (+atk, -res), *4 Narcian, *3 Felicia (+hp, -def), *3 Florina (+hp, -res), *4 Chrom (+atk, -spd) while also getting a Lightning Breath+ for my *5 Loli Tiki (+def, -hp). I might work on Matthew, currently using a *3 version you get when you start, if I get +def IV on him (no rolls of him, Oboro, or Peri to this day. Really want to build up all three).

You can have both Rallies and hones and make a better all around buff. They're great for units that can get easily shut down like units with Triangle Adept. They're definitely not to be underestimated, specially if you run a Blade unit and do not have a 5* Eirika available.

The meta currently might be 2 range, but that doesn't mean you'll 100% meet that always. Also keep in mind the future might spin the meta around.
