I finally took the plunge and installed Oblivion after having it in my Steam library for years.

And guess what...

IT SUCKS

Yep. I was really curious to know what all the fuss was about Oblivion a few years back, and Skyrim more recently. I kept seeing meme pictures and people talking about stuff from the games, on every website possible. And everyone going nuts with the mods and replayability of the game...

Well, when I ran Oblivion, I saw that these people were nothing more than hyped up sheep, because the game SUCKS so bad. I must admit, the first dungeon part was quite interesting, and seeing the light out of the sewer at the end was cool...

But the rest?

Shitty dialogues, poor item diversity, boring enemies, boring spells, etc. There was nothing good about the game, and it felt like a console game made for dumb fucks playing with a controller.

I wanted to enjoy a good "role play" game, and all I got was a highly repetitive piece of junk that was falsly marketed as a good game by a bunch of fan boys praising everything that has been thrown to them.

The worst of all, is that I thought Skyrim would be a good game, so I got it on a flash sale on Steam for around 20 bucks. It contains all the DLCs, but I don't care, since I won't be installing it anytime soon.

Why are you guys so hyped up about all these shitty games? You have nothing else to play while waiting for the yearly cod to come out?

Oblivion still has the best guild quests and a couple good side quests.
BACK IN THE DAY, it gave hours upon hours of gameplay, a living world that moved on its own schedule with no player action needed, tons of unique npcs, a varied landscape with even more varied towns, combat with skillsets and moves, and plenty to do if you wanna just fuck around and exist like protect the roads, pick ingredients, craft potions, i.e. roleplay.
We've progressed since then. It's not 2006 anymore.

I think for the next ES or FO game, Bethesda should scrap the "Continuous open world" idea completely. Instead, each hold, region, or whatever should be its own massive worldspace, and going to the edge lets you travel to adjacent ones.

A continuous world is nice, but let's be honest. If each part of the region was its own space, expanding it would be trivial. You could make the worldspace larger without clashing into other ones, add completely new ones, and even have "random" areas where you happen upon caves, ambushes, and so on as you go from A to B. Make it more like early Fallout where only the areas of interest are actually designed. Given enough time, this would result in an effectively larger world as expansions and mods come in.

It worked for Witcher 3. Also being unable to see the edge of the map creates an illusion of size that distorts one's perception. Walking from one end of Skyrim to the other is not a difficult thing to do, and you run into so many things it makes the world feel tiny.

Adding new content to the map is a pain in the ass in megamodding as two people using the same location means that patches are going to happen, and this can result in patches for patches for patches if taken to an extreme. Can you imagine how much better it would be to start at the base of a huge ruin, and walk into the ruin as part of the same worldspace rather than going from Skyrim to Draugr Crypt #15?

Remember when Tomb Raider 1 felt huge? It wasn't huge at all, you just couldn't see jack shit because of the draw distance.

The idea was simple, bring Nim to the Jarl. Convince him she was no danger to the townsfolk and assure him he would watch over the pale child.

Snakestone was unsure of how this would go down, he knows when it comes to vampires people can be very fickle. Himself included.

Since he moved to Whiterun he and the Bear-Bloods have been getting more visits from Nim, a small childlike vampire of a unkown age but child like mentality.

He heard rumors of a pale girl seen around the fields of Whiterun and began to worry that they would hunt her down. So Yarit and Snakestone decided to bring the girl to the Jarl and convince him the child is harmless. They were hoping all the help they have done to the city would give them leeway.

Snakestone took charged of the conversation, addressing that nobody in town has reported vampire attacks, or anyone reporting break inns. Infact Whiterun had been relatively quiet for the last few months.

The Jarls eyes peered at the child, watching her body movements. Scared, feeble.

Snakestone continued stating that this child had been visiting his home and the Bear-Blood clan for months, with no issue. The child never fed once while here, prefering apples to humans.

The Jarl looked at Irileth for some time, then nodded.

The Jarls men would not attack the child if she stayed out of the city, and any harm she may cause will befall upon Snakestone and it would be him to pay for any harm the child would cause the city.

I'm crashing when fast travelling to a certain location, but if I walk there it's fine.

Just like every Bethesda game Oblivion isn't an Roleplaying game. It's an Live Another Life and exploration simulator that now also comes in a post-apocalyptic flavour. But yeah, they do have rpg elements.

If you're looking for a decent roleplaying game you generally need to look to old Black Isle, InXile or Obsidion. Bioware also has a few gems worth looking into. I myself have just recently finished Torment: Tides of Numenera and I can honestly say it's one of the best games I've played in recent years. It's also a pretty good RPG to boot.

I made a couple similar runs, Rory here only uses thuum for example (pretty much the only character I'm doing the main story with), no actual physical attacks, while making money for hiring mercenaries by singing at taverns. Going through bleak falls barrow without fighting was pretty fucking nice, leading the draugr into traps and shit. I did have to whip out his attack lute for the spider and the last draugr boss because i had no follower

Uninstalling mods with NMM doesn't replace the uninstalled files if they were overwriten by other mods, you have to do this yourself by reinstalling the affected mods which again forces you to move a lot of files for no reason.

MO has a tab for each mod that you can open and it'll tell you what files it overwrites and what is overwriten, even if any of these files are packed in BSAs.
