Go watch it again, even if you ignore all the cinematic cuts it takes from gameplay-looking moments that it's unlikely to do in the final game, if it's in a playable state like that then it's the only part of the game that's made and is using shortcuts that won't be transferable to the final game.

You remember that first gameplay of Watch Dogs 1? And how in the final game, the mission was the same but lots of things about the game itself, the world design, the presentation etc. was changed around. That's the ultimate example of a vertical slice, it's a presentable target concept that exists long before the entire game is done.

Dude, there's no way this will happen early on, and by the time you're a month into the game, you'll have the skill where party members take mortal blows for you.

I'm talking about if the game had the bar set so that the only way to game over was to have the whole party die, then it would be easy as fuck to constantly revive over and over. Having the MC be the determining factor changes that.
With the sheer amount of shit you can power your MC up with that you can't for any other party member, you'd have to be legitimately awful at the game to actually think it's unfair to give you a game over for letting him die.

What's your point? The current system is balanced perfectly fine. The MC in mainline SMT doesn't typically have anywhere near the advantage that the MC in Persona games has. Swapping it out for another one when the game is designed around one that suits it better makes no sense.
