Midir is one of those bosses where it's easier solo.

Summons just add to his power, and they die in 1/2 hits, and they'll be chugging the whole time whilst doing hardly any damage.

Midir's job of containing the City was probably more important. Kalameet wasn't really much of an existential threat to the Gods going by Gough -- leave him alone and he'll leave you alone.

Midir is a really cool fight and I love 90% of it, they just made some bad decisions regarding his attack sequences
It has the same problem a couple of the other faster fights like Nameless King do, where if you're trying to use a slow weapon you have to miss damage opportunities because your animations are so long that that extra attack means you you don't have time to dodge the massive fire AoE or whatever, making smaller faster weapons deal more damage and be safer
Trying to do the fight with a Greataxe was suffering and it seemed like a shit boss that was 95% just rolling around waiting for one safe hit and then going back to rolling, but when I switched to the broadsword, any opportunity where I would have got 1 r1 with the greataxe I got 3 for more total damage, and I could fit in a few in places where I'd otherwise just have to wait for a safer opening and he went down pretty quickly. With the greataxe I could roll through 5 attacks in a row and never get an opportunity to do anything other than swing at his tail and hope the hitbox gods decided to let me connect that time.
Its a great fight with a fast weapon, although does take a bit long even with more aggressive punishes, but just slowing the spread of the fire by 25% would make it way more tolerable for slow weapons and not really impact anything else

Gael gets you into the first DLC, has a bunch of dialogue, a cinematic, an armour set that tells his story, can be summoned, the crucial NPC of the DLC tells you about him, she tells you he headed out on a mission and what the mission was, you follow him throughout the entire thing, as he guides you around with signs, flags, and landing circles, he is obliquely mentioned on the way there, you eventually find him with yet another cutscene and more dialogue, and his soul and key item finally explain what happened to him while he was offscreen.

As far as character arcs go in Dark Souls, the nigger was practically the lead actor.

It's really not that bad if you're using a weapon that doesn't have too much wind up between strikes.

I've noticed that gael is easiest if you hug his right side. He mostly seems to do an easy to avoid two to three hit combo if you do it, except for the third phase.

With the flop that was The Ringed City, it has come to light that the real MVP behind the success of the souls series was actually Japan Studios. They got lucky with DaS as they copied almost all their ideas from DeS, even the Artorias arc was scrapped content from DeS.

Yeah, he's a, stay close and roll around him so you're often behind him, and when he finishes his combo you can get a hit in. If he staggers, you can get about 3 straight sword swings in too before rolling right as he attacks.

His cape in the 2nd/3rd phases can hit you when behind him, but luckily it does poor damage compared to his sword.

Like Orphan, it's a roll endurance fight.

Because Midir is designed as post-game DLC for a game where the player is extremely fast and has tons of easily spammable healing, as well as three partners, and Kalameet was designed as a mid-game DLC for a game where the player is slower, more vulnerable, heals much less reliably, and can only have two.

The base game already gives you more info on things of the past while having a decent final boss with Soul of Cinder

It gave you the Nameless King which is the lost son of Gwyn, info on some characters like Solaire which turns out he was nothing special, some conclusion to the Demon Kind and how Painting Worlds works and some insight on the cycle of fire and dark

And the last DLC also tells you what happened with the Furtive Pygmy and the real story

My only problem was the offscreen death of the Primordial Serpents, they were such a big part in the plot of the first game and they decided to kill them offscreen with no explanation on how and when, specially since at least two of them wanted opposite things

There was little reason to do anything other than quality base game as far as weapons are concerned, which really gimped replayability

Ashes of Ariandel was the laziest DLC in the series by a huge margin

It was never very atmospheric or very emotional, unlike its predecessors.

Dark Souls 3 is really solid. The boss design in the second half of the game is so consistently good it's astonishing. However, the serious fans who spend thousands of hours on PVP are just getting tired of these games. Bloodborne was different enough to feel fresh, but Dark Souls 3 had this awful feeling where every time you equipped a weapon and pressed R1 you feel like you've been using it for six years. If you play Souls games in reverse order, Dark Souls 3 will probably be your favorite (maybe Bloodborne for trick weapons and aesthetic).
