>firing with it while disguised lets you pretend to shoot as whoever you're disguised as, with whatever weapon you currently have (for example if disguised as an Engi w/the shotgun and you fire your primary, to the enemy team they see their Engineer shooting a shotgun)
>doesn't actually shoot any bullets - your knife is the only way of doing damage

the problem with spy is that the entire way backstabs are calculated is so fucking retarded that it's immensely illogical to anyone who hasn't looked into it

by all accounts of basic sense a matadorstab is completely and utterly the same as any other facestab, and it shouldn't occur if the game was functional as it should be

it's the epitome of artificial difficulty in all of multiplayer fps titles

why doesn't spy just reach around the enemy and stab him in the back

The problem is that there just aren't enough options to play around with in comp, and that can't just be fixed by slowly allowing previously banned unlocks - they're usually banned for a reason.

A "perfectly balanced" meta (i.e. what the "comp" scene is trying to go for) is boring no matter how anyone argues it. It falls on Valve to try and help them out of this rut by giving players more options instead of "better" options (i.e. generalist classes being too generalist, certain weapons being better in all situations, etc).

The Sniper has to hardscope for nearly 2 seconds to apply the jarate for any decent amount of time. 2 seconds buried in scope means you'll die to their Scouts before you even get a shot off.

Honestly the matter is, it's just an unprofessional tool.
Could I use it? Sure. Can it help me as a Sniper? I suppose. Do I feel good using it? No I wouldn't. I'd rather take the risk of a sniper duel with another sniper and come out on top, rather than having a "fuck your quickscope, I win" weapon.

It's like Machina Snipers. Sure you COULD use it, but I mean what does it do that the Sniper Rifle already doesn't do on it's own? Plus if I have a Razorback, having no scope 50 dmg shots are good for chasing people off. Otherwise I'd just have quickscopes and a knife.

Not that anon, but I don't even think the Green Pussy shield is even OP. It's just a crutch used by new Snipers that don't want to be plucked out by a quick scope of a more experienced and quick sniper. Or more oftenly, by cocky Snipers pretending they're the be all end all of Sniper mains.

Then It's either I see them, charge my shot in a position they can't see and kill them and taunt, or if I'm a spy, remind them why a green crutch doesn't protect against my knife.

I mean it could be used with the Huntsman, but I find Piss and Bush is better for going on the offense and supporting my team.

a generalist weapon for most situations, works well at medium and close range or for finishing off guys you just headshot. but its role can often be filled just as well by no scoping or using your melee.

this is the only one i'd call close to being even near the danger shield in terms of sheer power, but even that is dependent on several variables. how many teammates are nearby? are you able to deploy it at an opportune time, or are you forced to throw a hail mary because a scout is running right for you and you beefed your headshot? in certain situations it does rival the dds, especially when there's a big group of people bunched up together, but those are situations and not every waking moment. again, sniper is still vulnerable to spies and other snipers with this, as well as bombings from soldiers.
