/hbg/ Wiki: http://homebrew-general.wikia.com
3DS: 9.2 (10.3 downgrade, 10.5 userland only, eShop NVer 30 only)
Wii U: 5.4 Loadiine (5.5.1 IOSU exploit coming soon™)
Vita: 3.51 (Userland)
PS4: 1.76 (Webkit)
EmuNAND 10.5 is supported by all CFW; Exception n3DS rxTools ≤ 9.5 only
-Nintendo released system update 10.5.30. It doesn't add much t︂b︂︂h.
-10.4 fixed memchunkhax2, the ARM11 kernel exploit necessary to downgrade. Menuhax and Browserhax still work, but that's it.
-Browserhax will be useless from 9.9 to 10.4 if you A) never opened the browser or B) open it now without the Tubehax DNS.
-ARM9loaderhax implemented https://github.com/delebile/arm9loaderhax, more news coming soon
>Is downgrading safe?
Not really. If you try, you only have one shot. If it fails, you'll be forced to update to 10.5. You might want to wait on 10.3 without updating, even though at the moment it doesn't seem there is going to be a safer way.
-5.4 Loadiine out now http://05sonicblue.com/wiiuhax
-IOSU: 3.0.1 is 100% done, 5.3.2 is being worked on, 5.5 and 5.5.1 are almost done
-Yellows8's .mp4 exploit has not been patched in 5.5.1
Rebug CFW REX and D-REX for firmware 4.78 have been released http://rebug.me/official-rebug-4-78-1-cobra-7-2-toolbox-2-02-09-jan-26th-2016/
-Update 3.57, mandatory for online, fixes all eCFW and bubble exploits.
Welcome to /hbg/ - Homebrew and hacking general.
This thread is for the discussion of homebrew and related topics, such as game mods and reverse engineering, as well as to help each other out. Please, refrain from replying to bait, spreading misinformation and other harmful, uncalled for, behaviours.
Considering some of the most recent events, there's a need to remind the newcomers what the general is NOT about.
If you want to uselessly argue about your preferences or personal opinions in a way that doesn't benefit the thread (saying something is better but not giving any reason as to why it would be), spreading misinformation or "trolling", please make sure you head over to the appropriate thread or board, as this isn't the right place for that.
That kind of posts is extremely discouraged in this thread. Ignore and report these posts whenever you see them to prevent ruining the general.
If you want a valid and unbiased comparison on the various CFW available for the 3DS, check the page in the Wiki linked above. For anything else, don't forget to check all of the resourced in the OP, the long post at the top of each thread. If you can't find what you're looking for, feel free to ask! We won't hesitate to help you out as long as you're not disrespectful. /hbg/ can be slightly condescending to hypocrites, so you're invited to avoid such behaviour.
This is simply just an advice, as it is everyone's duty to collaborate to keep the thread clean from the threats you just read about. We've managed to avert this kind of problems for an entire year, and this shows the high quality of our general. I'm sure we can overcome this wicked and dishonoring regression that is hitting us hard.
This message is supposed to appear at the top of each thread since its strength relies in being handy and easy to reach. As we're all equal and this was written by a common user like you, feel free post this in case it's absent.
Thank you for collaborating and enjoy your stay!
Where can I find Super Mario Land 2 from the eShop to run on >cakes
I have successfully downgraded, installed emunand, and unlinked the nands, and put some homebrew shortcuts on my main menu. Which of these files can i delete?
I accidentally deleted some information from my sysNAND while double-backing up my SD card. Nothing entirely important; just title information for my games. I'd like to recover the saves if possible, and I feel that they are most likely backed up in the "NAND.bin" file in my emuNAND9 folder.
Is there a way to dump or extract the information from the "NAND.bin" file that I can then use to replace the deleted information?
So I've had some trouble. I'm using this guide, and I'm at 4a step 14, but I can't seem to get rxTools to launch no matter what. Is there anything I might have missed that would get it to work? I did all of the previous steps.
I'm using this guide and all is fine until I unlink'd NANDs and now I can't access rxtools and all my games are gone.
Anyone that fully installed Fire Emblem and the DLC, you basically install FE:IF (Translated Patched) > DLC + Inv Kingdom (Translated Patched) and then the online service in that order right? Don't want to fuck anything up to reinstall later down the line
The names of badges have to be formatted like so:
(Badge name).(badge id).png
The Badge Name is what will appear on your home menu when you hover over it.
The Badge ID can be anything. For sake of a simple explanation, it allows you to have similarly named badges, and is required to avoid being deleted by Badge Arcade.
This badge ID can also be shared with a system application. You can find a list here, but it's theoretically possible to add more through Homebrew.
I've attached a screenshot of my badge folder for reference.
I had trouble here earlier as well.
You want to be holding L as rxTools boots up, just as if you were to activate Menuhax. If you have rxTools set to auto-boot, then just hold L and let it count down.
I'm not sure whether NAND.bin carries the contents of your SD card or not. EmuNAND9 should be capable of overwriting either NAND though. I've never had to do it, so not sure whether the file should go on your root or into an EmuNAND9 folder.
Well so did you 'Enable autoboot' under Configuration? Because that makes it so you don't have to look at Cakes' options during boot, but to check them again, simply hold L after Homebrew Launcher begins flashing, but before Cakes has a chance to boot.
Guys, I fucked up my microSD card while moving cia files to it. Now I can't move files to or from the thing without it unmounting itself around 25% through and giving me the "scan and fix" window when it comes back (which does nothing, by the way). Luckily I have a backup of all the files on it from when I successfully installed all the cfw stuff.
Is the best solution to format the card and wipe it clean, then simply paste the files back onto it? Or is there something more I have to do to it? N3dsxl model, if that helps.
Alright, so do I just go to the same rxTools site I used earlier? I've tried using it, but I keep getting an error and it forces me out. I tried the other site and got nothing.
I had things running fine but I was annoyed at having to fucking unwrap all my games everytime i went into emuNAND, so i unlinked them.
Now none of my GBA games work. I've tried like 5 different things but nothing is working.
Using rxTools btw
make an image of the SD card using
then restore it using the same thing.
its the same principal as moving it.
>Spend Day fighting with 3DS until I've got it set for a first run.
>Finally get ready to install my first game.
>"Error, Out of resources"
Well, I had hoped that 8gigs would be enough but I guess that I've got to go and get a new SD tomorrow and transfer everything over.
I did back them up, but I must have accidentally deleted them trying to save another back-up and merging the folders.
I guess my only option now is to unlink my NANDs and update my emuNAND to access the eShop again.
You can move your NAND.bin and emuNAND.bin, plus any already installed CIA files off of your SD card. You only need to make redundant backups of you NANDs in case you need them. Hope that helps.
Looking good, now you just need 1000 of them.
Yeah, those are going to take up between 2GB and 4GB of space. Just don't put them in a place they're at risk of deletion. I actually have backups on both of my computer's drives
but I still have them on my SD card because my 32GB card is more than I expect to use
>Japanese only niche as fuck shovelware game
>Keyboard defaults to English for name, won't let me switch off it to Japanese or anything else
>Game gives me an error when I try to confirm a name with English characters
Any possible fix for this? Tried NTR language plugin but that didn't seem to fix it either.
>tried browserhax today
>I never opened the browser while I was on 10.3 so now I can't do it
Really screwed the pooch latefagging on this one
Disabling Sig checks is fine. So you have boot to emuNAND checked, afaik there's no way it's not doing what it says then. Maybe you haven't really done the best job marking which NAND is which? Perhaps you formatted the wrong one if you think they're backwards?
You can try with 20, but it might force you to reset your badge data. If not, report back!
You can still keep winning official badges, but they just won't automatically be added to your collection on the Home Menu.
If you want to switch them in, talk to the Bunny at the Settings Desk and ask him to reset your badge data.
Afterwards, run GTYB to dump the new badges to your SD card. It'll eventually crash since you'd have more than 1000 badges in it's folder, so take your SD card out and select the badges you want to keep on you computer.
Once you've selected 1000 you'd like to keep, add them again using GTYB.
First, reset your badge data inside GTYB; hold X+Y+L+R on boot and it'll delete the badge data created by the Arcade.
Then you can safely add your custom badges again.
Tried to extract the emunand from the microsd, stopped 1/3 of the way through and acted like the drive ejected. Now the NAND file in the emuNand folder is fucked. Nothing is coming out or going into this card successfully.
I'm going to have to do everything from scratch, aren't I?
Is there any way to modify the name and icon of a program? I want to trick my little brother into thinking i'm playing undertale or splatoon.
>Not backing your shit up
>Not taking care of your SD
>Probably buying a shitty Chinese SD
>successfully downgrade to 9.2.0-20u
>can't load up homebrew channel
>nothing but errors and the browser crashing
I just need to keep trying right?
yo, you need to reinitalize your system.
Go to the theme change menu and let it start up for the first time.
then in your browser settings, do the initialize data at the bottom of the settings. Then do it.
i dunno, i just thought maybe Nintendo can detect i have CFW installed or something..and might ban my 3DS. I don't care about the NNID since i made a dummy account but it would suck if it banned the console itself.
Hey, I use reinand/gateway so I don't really have to worry about it.
it looks like their new system will only ban you if you cheat online. See the badge hacking fiasco.
Anyone have a guide on how to play gba games and dsiware stuff if your nands are unlinked?
literally everything is in the OP
No idea about the DSi stuff but heres a link to a massive virtual console dump.
Yeah I saw this guide ALONG with the "retard" guide and assumed this was if it wasn't unlinked
It's hard for me to understand these guides sometimes
Thanks for the link anon
>update NVer so I'm at 10.3.0-30U
>NTR doesn't work anymore
>Use SafeSysUpdater to downgrade
>Goes as expected
>Trying to reboot
Wait like 5 minutes.
If it doesn't reboot, take out the SD card and give it like 2 or 3 more minutes. If you get an error you're fucked.
If it still doesn't reboot, turn it off and on.
If you get an error you're fucked.
I was dumbass and asked this far too late into the old thread. Is there a way to auto-boot into Emunand, it's annoying to boot into RXTools and then into Emunand.
Also, once in Emunand, I'm good to update games installed via CIA files right? I was able to update to 10.5 without issue.
Don't know if you figured this out, but I have always had far better luck getting menuhax to work if I have an application working in the background.
Also, right side worked better for me.
You can use CtrBootManager to easily boot Cakes/Rei/rxTools/Gateway/Homebrew, without any interference.
I'm guessing you're having an issue with the fact some rxTools builds had a long splash screen. Try a newer nightly, or use Cakes which doesn't have a boot screen at all.
I should clarify, how do you remove vhbl and the email exploit? I lost access to my psp game that I used so I can no longer use it for ark and such, and I don't really use the features that you could use on the vita for emulation. I don't want to format, I just want to remove the custom bubbles.
How are you generating the CXI? Your best bet is to download a legit cia RF version of AS as a cia, run it through Decrypt9's deep decryption then extract it with Asia's HackPack using the cia commandline option. Then you can run it through pk3DS to randomize, use the HackPack 3dsb option to rebuild to to .3ds then Simple CIA Converter to convert it back to cia.
Yeah don't use braindump, last time I used that to make a dump it corrupted the romfs, and it's happened to others too. In that case use Uncart (google it) or just do what I suggested in >>130401259 and find a cia on 3dsiso and extract it.
So should I link my nands if I want to play them?
Is it different if I run it from one of those compilation .cias, like the retail compilations that are usually on a cartridge?
>So should I link my nands if I want to play them?
Linked NANDs doesn't matter even with Virtual Console. The only issue is with GBA Virtual Console (which isn't emulation) and requires you to install to sysnand as well if you're unlinked.
>Is it different if I run it from one of those compilation .cias, like the retail compilations that are usually on a cartridge?
Nah, it should be the same.
You will need:
>Alpha Sapphire .cia file (get it online)
>Decrypt9 + Brahma (google them)
>Download an Alpha Sapphire .cia from online
>Follow the Decrypt and Extract sections of this guide:
>Download and run pk3DS
>Drag the folder containing the 2 folders 'romfs' and 'exe' onto the pk3DS interface, it should load up Alpha Sapphire
>Randomize whatever you want
>Follow the "Rebuilding for CFW / FlashCards" and "Optional: Turn this .3ds in .cia for CFW" sections of this guide:
Reposting since I never got an answer, apologies.
>Alright, I've got NTR running on top of ReiNAND, on emuNAND 10.5, n3DS. I have the clockspeed plugin downloaded and placed in the plugins folder on my sd card; is there a plugin menu I can access from here? If not, how do I activate it? Is it automatically enabled?
Ye. You have to install a patched cia to the NAND using FBI first. Then you have to install the gba games to both emunand and sysnand (use pastacfw to get to sysnand and inject sysnand's h&s info with fbi with rxtools) The games can boot from both sysnand and emunand.
Press X+Y while in-game, choose Clock Speed from the list, choose the option with (Best) next to it.
People most likely didn't answer you because this is a thoroughly retarded question easily solved by googling fucking NTR.
I don't know dude, I'm not here to search google for you. I personally never cared much for randomized runs myself, difficulty hacks are much better. Most people who play randomized runs are Youtubers who like to look cool to their 12yr old subscribers by having a randomized hack of ORAS and not telling them how its done.
Ok guys, I just want to thank all of you for helping out, you're the best!
I've been missing out on all these games because I don't want to touch my sysnand...
If you don't you'll get an error. I don't know the technical reasons why it has to be in both, it just has to. I haven't used the hb gba emulator but others have said that it has lower framerates compared to installing cias.
I'm probably entirely retarded but say I followed the retard guide for installing rxTools and everything for the o3DS, got my nands unlinked and have been enjoying it and all that, but now I wanna do GBA VC games.
I can do all the rest. I got the patched firmware and put it on emunand already and everything but I'm completely blanking on how to install FBI on my sysnand so I can install it on there too. Is there a .3dsx of FBI that I can use in HBL on Sysnand? I know I'm missing something stupid.
oh. and so it was.
like i said, im literally retarded. thanks.
You'd think that they'd just set up an automatic check of whether you own the titles you've played/are playing/have installed and then uninstall any unlicensed ones or just permaban you for piracy. What's up with their security/anti piracy?
Huh, I would've thought Update suppressor would've worked then. I guess the only alternatives are ignoring it or disabling wifi. (Assuming O3ds, just flip the little switch off.)
>trying to downgrade N3ds as baby latefag
>constant "failed to get cia info!" in full panic mode
>actually read the guide I'm using and realize I have to disable tubehax dns
>enter shitty brony program, back out, sysupdater, y to downgrade
>cias getting installed, things going great
>suddenly "AN ERROR HAS OCCURED, TURN OFF YOUR 3DS"
>maximum panic, turn it off
>Double black screens
>about to cry, fuck fuck fuck spent 200 burgers only to brick it, can't even exchange for another because I didn't get the stupid gamestop warranty
>read on guide that I might be able to start over if I remove the sd card.
>remove card, turn on 3ds and prepare my boipussy for 10.5
I-is it safe to put my sd card back in? I'm at a loss, the downgrade didn't even finish
It'll fuck with the Neo X/Y romhack changes. (Shops/various other changes.) Assuming he got the full rom anyways, it might not change wild encounters and stuff but It's best to not update since it'll fuck parts of the hack up.
So, I'm seeing that there's a Final Fantasy Explorers region free .cia in the pastebin/mega, but that's based on the EU version: http://pastebin.com/SYxBj16f
Is there a US version dumped yet? I'd like to use that instead if at all possible so that future updates can be done easily through the eshop.
Well even with wifi off the update scroller still appears, it's kind of annoying. I just wish there was a way to update the game without breaking the changes.
Update suppressor just gives me the "unable to find title ID" error
Yeah the little scrolling thing remains but it at least doesn't try and get you to update right then. Kind of weird that it can't detect it though, maybe it's because of the romhack itself, though I don't think it changes ids.
You probably might possibly be able to update and see what changes. but you know you shouldn't use eshop obviously on 10.3 probably use a .cia But yeah, dunno if it'd fuck your save if you updated, looked at what's lost when updating and then uninstall the update.
guys what happens if i install the ambassador certificate cia
GUIDE TO UNDERSTAND JAPANESE MENUS
1- Go to https://translate.google.com/?hl=it&tab=wT#ja/en/
2- Click on the arrow near the "あ" square and then "Handwrite"
3- Write the strange characters that show up on your screen using your mouse
4- Read the translation
have fun senpai desu!!! ^__^
could you pass me the cia files link? For some reaosns when i try to install the ENG patched FE:F it says "install complete" but there is nothing on my home menu (although in data managemebt i can see the blocks it'd using)
I don't have to use that ancient ftp server homebrew thing on my r4i with my ds lite anymore!
>game getting localization getting fan translated
>game getting localization getting fan translated
>localization never ever and fan translations never ever
IM LIVING IN THE WRONG TIMELINE
This looks impressive. It sounds like it might be able to even deal with Animal Crossing saves? AFAIK nothing really could before. Any idea if this will manage eShop games too, or is it just carts?
He's probably just making clear it requires CFW access.
Well, at least If is kind of justified because of the censors
I'm trying it right now.
>AFAIK nothing really could before.
Nah, I'm pretty sure that was possible already with some extra hardware.
>Any idea if this will manage eShop games too
You mean DSiware? I'd expect it to be in the TWL_NAND, so maybe it was already possible?
So just thinking ahead here if anyone has knowledge of Pokemon bank on 3DS
I have a shit ton of pokemon in my alpha sapphire save file that I eventually wanted to transfer over to pokemon bank and then transfer over to pokemon Z (whenever that comes out)
Now that I have all this CFW stuff how would this process work? would I just download a legit copy of pokemon bank from e-shop (on emuNAND, where all my save data is now) and it'll all just work as intended? I was just wondering since it'd be legit software working on CFW stuff.
This won't be for some time, but may as well have an idea of how this will work since I 100% want to carry over all my pokemon boxes to the next game,
>Now that I have all this CFW stuff how would this process work?
As you would normally do it.
Except that now you can use the homebrew bank as well.
Anon, I assumed you were talking about Wild World since it's about DS saves.
>the homebrew bank as well.
Could I get a bit more detail, not familiar with this? you mean there's an alternative pokemon bank I can use now? I know the legit one costs like 5 bucks to use for a year or something (literally fucking nothing) but hey, if it makes my life easier, sure why not
Did you mean: P3rd? In fact something from X coming out for NX would be history repeating itself, except even as a mainline production, X is a spinoff, putting it in a weird place. Possibly making us even less likely to see it.
Sounds great. Could I get one last bit of spoonfeeding and may I ask where I can get it? my initial google for "cfw pokemon bank" / "offline pokemon bank hack" gave no relevant results
>i use proper grammar on 4chan
you niggas arnt worth the extra 2 keys
>anon pls, every single monhun game is gonna get a release in the west after how big a hit mh3u and mh4u was
no not after the cfw boom and other factors thrown in.
you dont actualy think they care about the western release considering how much money they make over in japan. relatively speaking its not worth there time and money spent when they can just release the next main game on the NX
Anyone have a Etrian Odyssey Fafnir Knight CIA? All I can find are .3DS and I can't fucking figure out how to convert if my life depended on it. I'm an idiot I know.
idk why everyone talks about nx like its gonna somehow stop games being released on 3ds. the new DQ game is slated to arrive by march 2017 or something like that. and in the case of mh games, it's been japan release, 1 year wait, localization. guarantee same thing's gonna happen here.
>when G-Rank MHX isn't even announced
>we're going to get the High Rank version
I'm sure it's a feature I already downloaded during the guide, but hw do I make a complete backup of all my game saves currently? I have everything setup and can install .cias and shit no problem, but just in case some bad shit happens how can I preserve all my save data somehow on my PC and transfer them back in if needed?
cos its the same thing as p3rd man it was another non mainline game on a portable console that got hack raped.
the money thats poring in from japan is enough for this/they wont make as much from a western release on a hacked console compared to a mainline game on a non hacked console
This is pure superstition, but in my experinece a high speed, high quality one helps the downgrader not to freeze. After all, the window for loading the exploit is extremely narrow.
So are there any worthwhile 3DS ROMhacks at all beside the two ORAS difficulty hacks? I know there's a pack of custom maps for MK7, are they any good and do people use them online? Anything else?
I'm stuck with kickass homebrew since I softbricked and I want to get some use out of it besides emulators and save editors.
So is it safe to update my emunand to 10.5 if I followed the retard's guide? I'm only asking because that guide was made when 10.4 was the latest and it tells you to update, but now I'm not sure if the rxtools that guide provided is outdated and won't work with 10.5 emunand ?
Can anyone help, maybe i'm doing somthing wrong. After booting up sysupdater it would start to downgrade. Once it finishes it starts to Update and start to add more cias. Should it be downgrading and than updating automatically?
Hey guys, is there a way to change NTR's screenshot feature's default folder? I don't like it shitting up my SD card's root with screenshots, I'd rather have them in a separate folder.
Googling and reading gbatemp threads gives me fuck all.
Do I have to adjust the plugin's code or some shit?
>a handful of progammers in their free time develop a save data back up tool that actually makes sense (i.e. saves to the SD card and can be moved to your computer) while nintendo does not
>3DS is perfectly capable of playing out of region game cards, GBA games and overclocking games to run better on N3DS
>Nintendo chooses not to capitalize on literally any of these
what the in the name of actual fuck are they doing over there?
Holy kek lads. the state of wii u hacking is so terrible. can smealum and his buddies just die already
>a handful of progammers in their free time develop a save data back up tool that actually makes sense (i.e. saves to the SD card and can be moved to your computer) while nintendo does not
That would faciliate online cheating, say, for example, by cloning Pokemon and other duplication of things that are meant to be unique.
>3DS is perfectly capable of playing out of region game cards, GBA games and overclocking games to run better on N3DS
Region locking gives Nintendo better capital structure by getting earnings where they're caused and allows them to account for differences in spending power. GBA games were only used for the Ambassador games for some reason. Overclocking games is always untested and thus not part of the Nintendo(R) Seal of Quality Experience.
Not the i remember, i was pretty nervous, But i was sure i didn't press anything after that i had a soft brick, I could get it to turn on but it wouldn't open the system settings menu. Do i have to have both sysupdater files in a folder? or can i just paste them in the of the /3ds/ folder? maybe i should start clean with this new 3ds and format/re download everything.
>mfw i only got a level of 2
>mfw i shitposted the other day and dint get banned or a another warning point
Why didn't they advertise GBA games for the New 3DS? Ambassador fags are the most likely to upgrade anyway, they could just not release ambassador games on the 3DS, an extra feature would make regular people more likely to buy this piece of shit upgrade that only has one and a half exclusives (Xenoblade and Hyrule Warriors, Binding of Isaac isn't a 3DS exclusive) (0 if you exclude ports), etc.
It's clear by now that the Wii isn't going to sell much so they might as well milk the 3DS and the new 3DS for all it's worth. Doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks for trying to help though, I'll try to start all over again from scratch, it's a 9.8.0. Also if anyone could answer the question If i Need both "sysUpdater.3dsx" and "sysUpdater.smdh" in a folder or can it just be place in the /3ds/ folder. Thanks.
So for some reason my 3DS locks up whenever I hit the home button and am playing a game. It happens with installed cia games and regular cart games, on emunand of course.
Not sure why? I'm guessing this isn't normal though?
I pretty much have to turn it off and on any time I want to switch games or just go back to the home menu
Put them in a case sensitive folder called sysUpdater. It's not 100% essential, but you see, the .smdh file gives it its icon and everything once you make it a folder of the same name.
This threeeeeaaaad. holy fuck
>he posted some fat ass brit's facebook and posted a picture of him with his brother
Out of curiosity for future updates, how can I check what version of RxTools I currently have and if an update is available how do I update RxTools? I've had the same version (presumably) since I started this whole adventure so idk if it needs to be updated, hell idk what version I even have.
Oh! I'll have to try that, I forgot about that, actually. I always assumed it only asked if you wanted to put it into sleep mode rather than power off completely. Thanks for the tip
Looking through the pastebins for downloads, am I just stupid and not seeing it, or are there no uploads for Binding of Isaac or Terraria? I'm seeing a distinct lack of plenty of eshop only games as well, are those difficult to dump/distribute?
I dunno. I had them all installed on my o3ds at one point, and it was kinda worth it. Now that I'm on an n3ds, I don't have or want to deal with gba injects, so.
I guess what I'm saying is, if you have the space and the want or need to play gba games on your o3ds, then do it.
>being a normie
If you really want to visit this website at least make sure you only go to /v/ or /pol/ or other bad popular boards so you don't ruin the decent ones
the search actually does work. It's just that people don't know how to use search booleans.
or quotation marks.
You can also use google to search the site. It isn't that hard, guys.
Just spend $10 on a flash cart.
>It's not like the search actually works
Except it does if you had actually tried it.
>Read OP and/or ctrl+f

ALRIGHT BOYS I GOT TAIKO AND THE DLC BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. The base game is region free, but the dlc is jp. Is that shit compatible, and even though the game is region free, I still have to use NTR, correct? For the dlc to work, at least.
>i have a life
>i havnt been here since 2009
>normie is in insult
i wish i was a normie and so should you, but i suppose youre and aspy that thinks hes better then every ones cos he 'isnt a sheeple'
hows the no friends and no life treating you?
i use the search bar or look in the category i want, while using crt+f
Those of you who use YATA+ Can you answer a question for me?
I just made an awesome theme, but I have no idea how to install or export it. It says to send it to an FTP, but i have no idea what it means.
Anyone able to help? thanks in advance.
Not working. Anyone know what to do? I even reinstalled AGB_Firm on sysnand and emunand. I'm on rxTools 3.0 I believe. I just wanna play Mario 3 with the e reader levels..
pls reply, it seems pretty important to know how to keep up to date with the versions of this thing
Alright fuck, I tried to get blargSNES 1.3 via cia and whenever I launch it I get nothing but a black screen and must reboot. Am I missing something here? I went through the readme and didn't notice anything
I DID IT ALL YOU BB....I think... anyways as it was downgrading it just stopped and the system told me to shut of and reset the n3ds I felt into depress/panic mode again i could hear only the beats of my heart slowly dieing, anyways, i turn it off and turn it on. and BOOM, new welcoming screen about themes, go into system settings
Please...tell me it's over... at least some of it...
FTP clients. They connect to your network to receive files from the PC. Socketpunch + FBI is another example. It's so you can just put things on your SD without taking it out, or in the case of FBI + Socketpunch installing CIAs.
This is the /3ds/ folder where i moved extracted the checkmaster. Not getting any app to boot but these weird blue apps with a world globe and a lock on the bottom right
No downsides. You will still get notifications to update and you should normally hold off on updating your EmuNAND whenever a new update comes out until people confirm it's safe but noone foresees any issues because there's basically not much Ninty can do to touch us at this point. Also; if you use Tubehax DNS you can go online without even worrying about getting the update nag. Also; your DS will never update unless you explicitly allow the update, it will nag you endlessly though if you let the update download.
I did, Sorry. I ran it and it says expected version>Installed version like many times, and than at the end
>Complete, checking missing titles....., complete. Press A to continue.
Soo....Did i pray enough....Or?
Trying to use a 64GB Sandisk card on an o3DS and it keeps giving the "Cannot display the software on the SD Card. The SD Card could not be accessed" I have a 16GB card here that the o3DS does recognise.

Are you literally dumb?
Do you think it expecting something that's different than what's installed is a good thing? You didn't list any of this?
You're really dumb.
It didn't downgrade properly. At all. Not even close.
I'm on RX 10.3 on an O3DS XL.
What is the advantages of being on 10.5? I don't wanna upgrade to 10.5 through EMUNAND system settings just to get fucked now that I actually managed to pirate some shit.
Yeah sorry buddy, the other anon is right, it didn't downgrade correctly. I'd google what to do next because personally I have no idea. Maybe you can go ask on the 3dshacks reddit since they'll be able to follow up with you there and give you good advice. Basically what all that means is that a whole bunch of your system titles didn't downgrade correctly.
Assuming it's larger than your previous SD, try doing that, and extending the partition, see if your DS still refuses to recognize it.
So I'm a bit confused now, at one point, it was like the 3DS had been totally cracked, now I finally get my N3DSXL and it's on 9.9 and people are telling me there's a risk in downgrading?
How come this shit hasn't been sorted out yet? Will the situation improve, I mean I spent about $200 on this and I don't want to risk it not working, so it has to be a certain thing or what's the point?
>Wii U on 5.5
>Don't even know why I'm waiting for an exploit, with Wii U game file sizes I'll never be able to pirate with my shitty ausfag connection
>Want to play games online again and use Youtube
>Then again homebrew scenes always interest me
There's always a risk to everything. When it's downgrading there's a small chance it can brick the system, but you can go into recovery mode to fix it however it will force you to update to 10.5 meaning you're out of luck.
Just read the guide and don't be a complete retard and you shouldn't have problems. Oh and don't open your internet browser until you use tubehax DNS or your pretty much fucked too.
What you SHOULD do next is use OoThax (Assuming your browser doesn't work, otherwise use Browserhax/Menuhax), use the original Sysupdater (The one intended to actually update, not the recent downgrade forks), and re-run your 9.2 "update". Should complete any missing installs.
>there's a small chance
This is what bothers me, isn't there any way to know with certainty whether I'm gonna throw my $200 away? I don't have that much money to take risks with.
>will the situation improve
Probably not. ARM9Loaderhax is in the works but I doubt that'll be any less risky to pull off.
>3DS had been totally cracked
It kind of has, at least in respect to the features we endusers see, there's really not much more to add.
>how come this shit hasn't been sorted out yet
Jesus christ you're an entitled cunt aren't you. If you think it's easy enough to sort out do it yourself. It hasn't been 'sorted out' because it's not easy to gain ARM9 Kernel access on FWs above 9.2 and the current ARM11 kexploit on 10.3 and below is super dodgy because it's based solely on timing. That's what you get when you dabble in hacking, there is no warranty, there is no guarantee, there is just risk and whether or not you want to take it is up to you. Don't bitch and moan that other peoples' hard work isn't good enough for your entitled ass.
>it has to be a certain thing or what's the point?
Well the rest of us will be here enjoying our CFW and free games, that's kinda the point.
>super dodgy because it's based solely on timing
Do we have any idea of the percentage of risk at least?
For example, out of a 100 New 3DSs, how many will not work with the hack/downgrade? Sorry I don't mean to sound entitled. I just thought it would be figured out by now. Would the situation improve if I wait a month or two? I don't lose much by waiting really.
My browser works and all so I'm fine on that, the settings menu also displayes i have 9.2.0-20U, So i should use Sysupdater than? Thank you I'll try that next. was reading " http://pastebin.com/UzJ3JSjq "
Unless you do something absolutely fucking retarded your 3DS will still be functional if the downgrade screws up. Like I said, the worst that can really happen is you'll be forced to boot into recovery mode and update to 10.5. And if that happens and you really want to pirate games you can always try to exchange your 3DS for a new one at wherever you just bought it.
Not really. Most brick stories resulted from older builds of SysUpdater or people using the wrong downgrade packs, but the process of downgrading itself is flawed because of how shaky the kernel exploit it relies on is. Most of the time if SysUpdater fails to elevate itself correctly it will just freeze or crash out before you even start the downgrade process, but sometimes it fucks up like this anon >>130415728 and cuts out halfway through leaving you with a cobbled together firmware with bits of 10.3 and bits of 9.2. Even worse, sometimes it causes pseudo-hardbricks which are basically unfixable, though that is quite rare. It won't get any better than this because most people have now downgraded and the demand for a safer downgrade process isn't nearly as big as it used to be. You can wait if you want but I'm 90% sure nothing better will come out, unless arm9loaderhax turns out to be easy to pull off and completely without risk.
It took me a bit of time to react and get the money together. Oh well.
Not sure if I understand what you're implying about 10.4 making it more difficult, if Nintendo released some update that makes it harder, couldn't I just block it/do the process offline? I probably need to read it more. The OP scared the shit out of me though.
I'll try that, thanks.
Guys, I am getting this error when trying to downgrade my N3DS (E) . The MD5 of the .zip file I downloaded seems to check out.
Is this program just buggy or did I mess something up?
On 10.3 if you semi-brick while downgrading, you could reboot in recovery mode and force update to latest firmware (10.3) and just try again until it worked.
Now if you do that you force to update to the latest firmware (not 10.3) and can't try again.
Yes, but use a .cia version of Sysupdater and not the .3dsx/homebrew version. Which means you need to get a way to run SysNAND with signature checks disabled (RxTools -> Rxmode Sysnand, IIRC I think Minipasta would do the job as well but don't quote me on that). Cia version gives extra permissions available on 9.2 and makes the process infinitely more reliable.
10.3 is the highest firmware that still has the kernel exploit needed to downgrade. When it was the most recent firmware back when everyone was downgrading, if you softbricked during the process (which is reasonably common), you would enter Recovery mode and be updated to the latest firmware. That firmware was, of course, 10.3, so you could just try downgrading again; you had a safety net of sorts. Now if you softbrick, the latest firmware is 10.5 so when you go to Recovery mode it will update you to 10.5 and you'll lose the ability to downgrade. In other words you only have one shot. You can't do it offline or block the update because then if you softbrick you have no way to recover since Recovery mode requires internet to download the latest firmware and restore it.
Honestly anon, just downgrade, follow a proper guide and doublecheck your hashes. If something does end up going wrong, leave it on the error screen, take it back to the store and just say "when I turned it on for the first time it kept giving me this error". Best case scenario they give you a new one and you can try a downgrade again, worst case they know about Recovery mode and you get put back on the latest firmware. Just wipe all the homebrew stuff off the SD before you try it.
That's a standard error, it just means SysUpdater didn't grab the kexploit properly, you'll see it alot. Just keep restarting and retrying 'till it works.
So I installed a VC Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I was able to play it, but the screen is messed up. I can see a part of the top screen on the bottom screen, like it got cut off and scrolled. Any way to fix this?
Meant for Fire Emblem Fates, some guy days ago said you didn't need to install NTR language on the old 3DS
I have some EU DLC too, but don't know if you specially need NTR for Fire Emblem because the DLC is translated Japanese
