3DS: 9.2 (10.3 downgrade, 10.5 userland only, eShop NVer 30 only)
Wii U: 5.4 Loadiine (5.5.1 IOSU exploit coming soon™)
Vita: 3.51 (Userland)
PS4: 1.76 (Webkit)
EmuNAND 10.5 is supported by all CFW; Exception n3DS rxTools ≤ 9.5 only
-Nintendo released system update 10.5.30. It doesn't add much desu.
-10.4 fixed memchunkhax2, the ARM11 kernel exploit necessary to downgrade. Menuhax and Browserhax still work, but that's it.
-Browserhax will be useless from 9.9 to 10.4 if you A) never opened the browser or B) open it now without the Tubehax DNS.
-ARM9loaderhax implemented https://github.com/delebile/arm9loaderhax, more news coming soon
>Is 3ds downgrading safe?
Somewhat, if you follow the instructions right and get the correct files. If it fails, AND DOESN'T BRICK, you'll be forced to update to 10.5 tho. You might want to wait on 10.3 without updating, even though at the moment it doesn't seem there is going to be a safer way.
-5.4 Loadiine out now http://05sonicblue.com/wiiuhax
-IOSU: 3.0.1 is 100% done, 5.3.2 is being worked on, 5.5 and 5.5.1 are almost done
-Yellows8's .mp4 exploit has not been patched in 5.5.1
Rebug CFW REX and D-REX for firmware 4.78 have been released http://rebug.me/official-rebug-4-78-1-cobra-7-2-toolbox-2-02-09-jan-26th-2016/
-Update 3.57, mandatory for online, fixes all eCFW and bubble exploits
ALRIGHT PRIVATE LISTEN UP
INSPECTION TIME! YOU GOT THAT NICE LITTLE TOY OF YOURS ALL HACKED TO THE BRIM WITH VIDYA BUT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH IT? HUH?
GIMME A LIST OF ALL THE GAMES YOU HAVE AT 5 HOURS IN BOY! ANYTHING LOWER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SHOW ME!
I've checked the region of my TMD, but I don't get a version number.
Is there another way of getting the version number, or should I just go with the latest version (v2051)?
seriously, does anyone know?:
i just bought a 64GB SDXC card...
i know they need to be formated to FAT32, but will it work in an o3ds?
if so, whats the best guide to follow to do a emunand transfer...
im on EMU 10.5/Sys 9.2.
so, I downgraded my n3DS, I installed Menuhax so I can boot with L into the Homebrew Channel, Used EmuNAND9 to make the EmuNAND partition and now I just finished using TinyFormat to unlink the NANDs. How do I install ReiNAND from this point forward? This is a really confusing process compared to installing rxtools on o3DS.
How do I get rid of emunand on my SD card? I fucked up bigtime and want to format it so that I have a completely clean SD card to retry everything.
posting again for that based anon >>130350073
OK I MANAGED TO FUCKING DO IT
THANK YOU, I'M A FUCKING RETARD WHO SHOULD PROBABLY KILL HIMSELF, BUT YEAH, THANK YOU BASED ANON
YOU SAVED MY SHITTY LIFE
Guess it will be the end, downgraded my console but don't know how to do anything else.
What will happen if i will normal-update to be a good goy after i downgraded?
THE FUCKING PASTEBIN NIGGA TAKE A GANDER
OK, got a N3DS at 9.9, a 32gb microSDHC card, and a memory card reader.
I should be set to do browserhax, right? One anon said to do it with the 4gb card that the N3DS comes with.
Sorry, I'm paranoid and want to do all I can to avoid a soft brick, even though I went with the more obtuse route getting a N3DS. It was only 40 dollars more, though, so I said fuck it since they had no regular 3DSXL.
>get CFW working on 3DS
>realize there really isn't that many games I want anyway
I think after I pirate and play FE Fates and Bravely Second I'll just go back to legit firmware

So this is an obscure problem I don't know how to deal with. Japanese N3DS, 10.5 emuNAND and NTR is running
I boot Smash + the newest update + the DLC, go to play online, it gives me what I assume is the 3DS EULA, and I can't accept it. If I press either option, Smash tells me I need to accept the agreement to play online then kicks me to the main menu.
Is it because I need to accept the EULA in a Japanese game first? Or can I just not play out of region games online or something? I'm so confused and I just want to play video games with my friends
So how exactly do I boot the homebrew launcher from CTRBootManager when I hold L on bootup? it just gives me the screen with rxtools and says rxtools will start in 3 seconds.
I can hold L to start the rxtools options manager, but Idk how to access homebrew launcher? been following the retard's guide and up till this point it's been good, it says I should be able to launch either of the two from CTRBootManager

I'm kinda ok with it. After i fucked it up so badly with my autism, i don't think i'm capable of actually putting CFW
Then buy those games, pirating doesn't remove the ability to play purchased games.
I've been trying for over an hour to downgrade and you, who succeeded, are going to toss it away for literally no reason. Fuck off.
Why do I keep getting Description: DESCRIPTION_INVALID_SIGNATURE and Summary: SUMMARY_INVALID_ARGUMENT when I try to install CIAs with FBI
>pirating doesn't remove the ability to play purchased games.
It must be the cause of my legit download of AA6 crashing when I try to get the DLC. Because its never done that before I put cfw on.
>I've been trying for over an hour to downgrade and you, who succeeded, are going to toss it away for literally no reason
I don't give a fuck. Not my problem.
I notice now on CTRBootManager it also has homebrew launcher but pressing anything just takes me to rxtools, even hitting down to try and select it. Wat
Thanks; I tried this earlier, but since I couldn't find the proper files for Decrypt9, I went with the other guide for CFW.
Are there pre-compiled 3DSX/SMDH files out there, or am I not looking hard enough?
I have a question, I installed Menuhax but now when I try to put ReiNAND in my SD and boot into Menuhax it just doesn't work anymore. Why is that??? Is Menuhax being uninstalled for some reason because I put the ReiNAND files on?
I'm on n3DS btw.
Good luck, anon!
It's fine. Tinyformat litterally formats your sysnand
Repost from last thread
I followed this guide up until I go to boot Cakes but it just goes to blackscreen. Keep trying?
I also went straight into tinyformat from the previous step and it formatted, but I'm not sure if it formatted my sysnand or emunand because there's really no way to tell at this point.
by root of the SD card it just means right inside the initial folder labeled 3DS, right? there's a folder with a long stream of numbers after that, and then another, and then dbs / extdata / title.
Thank you anons. So I can fill out everything no problem? Can I set up an internet connection too or will it try to force an update? The retard guide isn't holding my hand for this.
This is what hell looks like.
Last time I had to open up a dualshock controller to fix a very tiny switch that broke I had multiple panic attacks by the tiny shit just falling around everywhere, screws going missing, shit not fitting. I can't into small electronics repair at all.
Mhh, nothing out of the ordinary here I think. Maybe reinstall menuhax?
Yeah, it's very likely menuhax is broken atm, so youll want to have a functional webbrowser when you reinstall that.
Updates dont happen automaticly, you have to accept them. (Dont do this)
Top newfag to hacking here, I have an old 3DS on 10.3 and want to try downgrading. My question is this, following retard's guide, when all the pastebins refer to "the SD card", I assume this means the SD card I have been using for my games? Do I have to make any alterations or delete my games off of it before I start hacking with it? Am I locked into using this SD card from then on, as well?
I want to be sure before I do anything, especially something that could brick my system, since all my games and shit are saved to the SD card.
I also assume I can play legitimate games on my 3DS still too, since I bought a few eshop things and would hate losing data.
Final question, I have an old 3DS but I am also getting a fresh New3DS as well, should I try to hack the old one or just wait for the New one?
I can try. Also if I change that "3" where it says timeout to 10 will it give me 10 seconds before auto-starting rxtools, I'm guessing? might help me out since 3 seconds is too fast
By root of the SD card it means root of the SD card.
Holy shit anon.
You could try it, sure. But the countdown should stop when you press anything, and you should have free acces to ctrbootmanager. I'm not sure why it functions the way it does.
REMINDER THAT YOU CAN DOWNGRADE ON 10.5.0-30
WITH A HARDMOD
Dude, I'm fucking retarded. Sorry. It's just the initial folder where you see Nintendo 3DS, right? Not inside it?
For some reason I was thinking of something else. It's been a long day and I hafve a migraine.
>put FTbrony on SD card
>try to load Ironhax
>yellow screen of death consistently
>it works once
>go into FTBrony
>press B to exit
>red screen of death
Fates are conspiring against me.
yeah that's what i meant
so it looks like D:\ and then there's Nintendo 3DS and then the files I pasted in there
sorry anon, it's been a long day I dunno why I thought root meant deepest part
WHY is this not on the recommended eshop list?!
This is so good, it's like Fire emblem but with sliding physics and cute squids.
I've sunk more hours in this then actual 3DS games, what the hell.
Is there any reason to switch from Cakes to ReiNAND.
I was under the impression Rei didn't need NTR but further research says yes it does.
Since I dont feel like RXtools there no reason to switch to Rei is there? No memes pls.
Don't worry, it's not bricked. I take it I shouldn't try that again until I figure out the problem, though?
Maybe I downloaded an old version. I got it from GBATemp and the most recent version seemed to be from December 2014.
No more blackscreen. Now it's:
Failed to decrypt the firmware.bin
Please double check your firmware.bin and firmkey.bin are right.
I was just using the zipped cakepack. Did it not come with those set up?
Yeah, maybe not try that again then. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fuck up your system, I just remeberd trying downgrading for 2 hours, until I learned about this trick and it worked on the second try.I'd suggest to just keep trying like you were.
You should unlink the nands, and create a folder on any of them. That way you can tell the difference.
> Everyone goes apeshit.

mfw, these aren't okay with cultural appropriation but are completely fine with the genocide of said appropriated culture.
Anyone got a link to youkai watch and mocomoco friends?
>playing animal crossing; new leaf
>wanna check some towns
>no towns available online
is it cus its old or is something not working? it checked my internet and went through all the auto processes without error
Turned WLAN off, booted the eShop, got an error, the home screen symbol showed up, I pressed it, booted BBM, and I still get the "This cia is invalid." error when it gets to like 95%.
whatever the problem is, it's not because emunand doesn't let you use purchased games. i bought aa5 and the dlc digitally before i made my emunand and it all works. what i probably did differently from you is using gateway and formatting emunand instead of sysnand to unlink and redownloading my digital games.
Pretty sure ReiNand doesn't do version string patching anymore.
Power down your 3DS. Hold L as it boots up. If you see a bunch of weird gibberish and static on the top screen, then menuhax launched. If it boots up to the 3DS home screen after that, then that should be emuNAND. If you haven't unlinked your NANDs, you'll want to do that. Make a sysNAND backup first (Seriously. Do it you faggot, it's how you save yourself when you fuck up). Then use TinyFormat to format sysNAND. You'll have to install menuhax again. Then when you boot into emuNAND change its theme to something obviously different than sysNAND. At this point you should also set menuhax to automatically boot your emuNAND, so you know you're always in emuNAND.
Depends on whether you got the right cakepack.
In any case, get whichever firmwarebin applies to you and replace it:
You did create the emunand partition already, right?

I'm a complete retard when it comes to these things but you guys made it easy and less scary for me.
Love you guys
no homounless you want it to be :3
It's fine, anon, I'm glad you're offering advice instead of me just asking every thread without answers.
If I can give more information, maybe one of these things are preventing the downgrade.
I have my Wi-Fi turned off, to prevent updates.
I have parental controls turned on (it's the only way I know how to turn off 3D because my slider is finnicky and sometimes doesn't work).
I only just now noticed that, in addition to the 15-16 purple dots, there's a tiny blue dot right above them, a very dark one that you can't see without looking really close. Does that mean anything?
I don't think it was intentional. Version string patching is somewhat unstable from what I hear.
That said, it's not a problem if you auto-boot emuNAND. The only time I'm ever in sysNAND is if I explicitly hold a button while booting. Otherwise it always boots to emuNAND and there isn't much Nintendo can do about it.
Is it Rune Factory 4 worth downloading again for the undub version? Any other undubs that are superior to the English audio?
oh well, DNS bypass didn't work on my new system and apparently I just can't click fast enough on internet browser to outrun the nag, and even if I do, it tells me the nag after I type in the website
I knew this would most likely be the case, i'll buy a shit 2DS later or something.
Good luck doods.
It works on Japanese consoles too, so I have no idea why none of these .cia's from the SDK won't install.
How the fuck did I get DevMenu and SaveDataFiler installed on here in the first place then?
So did Hykem just Pingo out with his "omg I totally never ever said it would be out by february guys" and "I want the kickass scene to be big and have no piracy first, despite hardly anyone having access to this exploit in order to actually make some kickass stuff"
I have a modded o3ds and a modded o3dsXL. I have Taiko notatsujin on both of them, 1 has decent progress, the other has NO progress at all. Can I continuously switch data between them? So like, the progress I have on my o3dsxl, can I save copy that exact data to my o3ds, and when I make progress on that data, transfer it back to my o3dsxl?
how do i update pokemon x? like what update cia do i download?
>pokemon x updates
>see the latest one
>go on 3dsromisoblogspot what the shit not
>search for pokemon x x.x. update
come one dude
Here it is: https://mega.nz/#!pt0kwS7Y!rD-M2Af3lQEJNYMyGAEELEWeSdjL9eXE7bedJ-XE_UE
If anybody could do this for me, it would be very much appreciated. Maybe I'll cook you a steak or something if we meet up for some reason.
Hac whatever 3ds you want, the SD card is the one you plan on using on your 3ds, you keep your current games, you keep everything as long as you back up your sd card. Just follow the guide
Didn't I help you with the DLC the other night?
And yes, just use svdt for your save game shenanigans. Export it out of one console and inject it into the other, then when you're done, export it out, then inject it back to the other console's game's save. Super easy
Alright, will do. Thanks!
I got the one for the n3ds. And yeah, I created that through emunand9. But I did tinyformat and I'm not sure which one it formatted, emunand or sysnand. I might inject emunand to start over and try again. How do I know I'm in sysnand to format that?
So as long as my system version says "RX-E 9.2.0" (or whatever version) this means I'm currently in emunand, right? and if it says just "9.2.0" this is my regular "official" 3ds sysnand? I unlinked them following the guide, so just making sure I understand all this
So anyone else try and use yellows8 with wifi on and occasionally get sent to playdownload? The fuck is that? with wifi off it works fine but it'll randomly shoot me over to playdownload if I have it on after using ftp. I'm on 10.3 emunand still too.

could someone do my hs.app please?
i'll even post a picture of a cute girl
Pretty much. Just make sure before you update your emuNAND that they're truly unlinked - create a folder in one, or change the theme color, switch icons around, etc. to make sure one doesn't impact the other.
i have a few things i would like to ask.
1) should i update my ps3 on ofw 4.66. is there any hope for a downgrade hack?
2) i have a 2ds that i was able to install cfw on and it always freezes no matter if its on sysnand or emunand. i would guess this is a hardware problem so there is nothing i can do about it. it was like this even before i got cfw installed on it.
3) i have a gba micro and would like to find a compatible flashcart for it would not hurt if its cheap also.
Anyone with bad menuhax bootrate tried this? https://gbatemp.net/entry/lets-test-improving-menuhax-boot-rate-ninjhax-2-5.10974/
My bootrate is pretty good so I won't bother but this might help someone (at least it's more convenient than downgrading to themehax).

Dumb question, is it possible to pirate DS games on a 3DS with this stuff? I know how to install cias and such, but there's a game I would like to try that is a DS game and not a 3DS game.
I'll post an anime girl in an attempt to get attention.
Okay guys I don't normally come here but I've a problem.
I've got a DS Lite with an R4i Gold from www.r4ids.com. I think it's a fake and the website is down.
I had the version 1.27 installed on it and I was retarded enough to download a new one because my Pokemon white 2 wasn't working so I tried that.
Any way to find the old version or ANY version that works with my card, help would be really appreciated, thanks.
Drat, that explains why I couldn't find out how to do it.
And I liked Chizuru, though I will concede she was my second least favorite.
2.sell and try with a non-glitched one
3.I haven't checked about gba flashcarts tho, don't know.
Before that, ask if she enjoys playing videogayms and if she would like playing with your wii.
Okay this is odd, for some reason my emuNAND keeps switching back to my sysNAND whenever I go into the system settings. Been following the retard's guide up until unlinking the NANDs and everything is working perfectly up until now.
I boot into rxtools, made a folder in emunand and go into system settings to confirm I'm in emunand (it is, rx-e 9.2.0) and when I exit system settings the folder has disappeared and now the system setting is 9.2.0, it switched me back to sysnand.
I rebooted into rxtools and noticed that I can go into other software and it will keep me in emunand as long as I can hit the home button to close the software, however the system settings doesn't allow the home button be pressed and apparently that's what's causing me to go back to sysnand?
I'm assuming this isn't normal or how it's supposed to be, but the guide doesn't mention this as an error..idk? how fix?
Well it seems they are unlinked, but I'm having this issue now
You use tinyformat to format sysnand(and thus, unlink), then you use emu9 to create emunand and backup of it and your sysnand.(you should have created sysnand backup right after downgrading, tho). You don't use emu9 to unlink.
It's normal. Going into the system settings makes the console reboot itself and that's why you go into your sysnand. Same thing happens when you shut down MH4U and SMASH because they're too big and the console needs to do a reboot.
I don't really care that much to spend money on it and wait for it to ship.
Oh. Well, nevermind then. Thank you. I was more than a bit worried about updating to the latest version because of this, don't want to update sysnand by accident and ruin it all. I'll just go by the folder I made in emunand
I have a 16GB microSD in an adapter in an O3DS and my 3DS won't detect it. I've formatted it a bunch of times but this shit still wont work. I have a normal SD card that my 3ds can detect but only a microSD to USB adapter. Help me out pls senpaitachi
>tfw literally no bomberman games on the 3ds
That filename made me giggle.
Yes. Then select a button to use in case you want to boot into sysnand like "X" for example and touch the touch screen. That'll make it autoboot unless you press x.
So I'm trying to use Decrypt9 after installing ReiNAND to inject fbi into my Health and Safety app but it's giving me a bunch of hs app files. Which one do I use?
>I think it's a fake
Yep. Real ones have r4ids.cn printed on the front of the cart. You're lucky, the download links are still live.
If the front of the card just says "Revolution for DS": www.r4ids.com/download/software/ENGLISH.rar
If the front of the card says "2.0": www.r4ids.com/download/V2.0/english.rar
If the front of the card says "GOLD PLUS": www.r4ids.com/download/PLUS/r4i_gold_plus_v3_0.rar
System settings -> Data Management -> 3DS. You'll get a screen like this.
I followed this guide up until:
"You can unlink your NANDs at this point by formatting your sysNAND. To do this, we're going to use TinyFormat. You should've downloaded it earlier. You're going to go Homebrew Launcher > TinyFormat (or if you're using the cakepack, you can use the file manager in ctrbootmanager to boot TinyFormat right after you trigger one of the *hax). This method is better than just removing your SD card and formatting sysNAND. It won't require you to have your SD card out, and it'll also avoid your NNID becoming unlinked on Nintendo's servers. All your data on sysNAND will be wiped, but will still be safe on your emuNAND after you do so."
I went straight from emu9 creation/backup (and I have both of those!), backed out of the menu, it rebooted to ctrbooter, I picked tinyformat, hit Y, then the system made me go through the initial setup. I'm not sure if that was on emunand or sysnand.
ATTENTION ACEKARD USERS
I have a AK2i, is there any way I can update its firmware to support 3DS? I see they sell AK3DS now, but the cart is exactly the same down to the pins, i doubt theres anything other then an updated firmware on it.
layton vs wright
fire emblem awakening
Another dumb question: When installing .cia updates, do I have to apply them in order or will the most recent one be enough?
I'll post an anime boy this time in hopes to gather attention.
What version of Bravely Default do I want?
I gave my brother my o3DS on 10.3 and a SKY3DS+ assuming it'd just be drag and drop like old flashcarts at this point I kind of just want to downgrade and CFW his 3DS. I only downgraded on a N3DS, do o3DS have the same level of RNG?
I used Tuxh's latest downgrader on my N3DS and it worked first try so I'm a bit worried about soft bricking and forcing 10.5 onto it.
Most recent only works.
So, is this downgrade checker tool gonna say anything in particular if it's safe or not to go on? I've downgraded to 9.2 on a New 3DS, there's 2 mismatched titles, but no actual message saying that it's fucked up or anything.
You probably want the Japanese "For the Sequel", which has English text options, no censorship and a few overall minor improvements. It's similar to re-releases like Final Fantasy X International.
O3DS is usually better than the N3DS but RNG is RNG.
Kinda relating to that guy's question, so to update my emuNAND to the latest version (10.5.0 I'm assuming?) I just make sure it says "RX-E 9.2.0-20U" in the bottom right when I'm in system settings and update from there?
I left off at updating last night before heading to bed, gonna do that when I get home from work, but I wasn't aware system settings could kick you back to sysNAND so easily, I assumed you had to reboot completely to switch. I want to make sure I update the right one.
>I used Tuxh's latest downgrader on my N3DS and it worked first try
I've tried over 200 times already with whoever's the original developer of sysupdater is and I haven't been successful yet!
WHY DOES NOBODY HAVE 3D SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2?!?!?!?
I copied sysnand to emunand. but booting cakes still gets me 'please double check your firmware.bin and firmkey.bin are right'. I just used the cakespack zip, I can go and get them and put them on again just to be safe, but they should be there...
easy question, for .cia files I'm guessing I just make a folder named "CIA" in SD's root and just drop them in there? or do they need to be organized some other way? I've yet to actually work with any .cia files, but gonna start soon
Is Bravely Default actually any good?
I see it being talked about in here like a must-download but I've seen videos of the gameplay and it just looks like every other turn based JRPG ever. What am I missing?
>finally decide to pull out my old 3ds to see if I can get cfw on it
>its at version 10.3
>get all the files setup on my sd
>go through browserhax, menuhax, sysupdate etc
>after the shit kept freezing it finally finishes the downgrade process. restart
>go to my system settings to see if it worked
>its on version 9.0.0-20U
I fucked up didn't I? Isn't it supposed to be 9.2? I know I downloaded the right update package though.
What's wrong with the official release?
There's nothing different between the two, they run the same exploit. Safe just makes sure you aren't being an idiot and got the wrong CIA files.
Is there a good working CIA for the Fire Emblem Fates complete thing with the english pre-patched?
I got one back when the exploits first dropped but it didnt work and never got around to looking for alternatives
Sure, this is what I get when I run it here. No errors or anything despite what I get, which is why I have no idea about if it's grand or not.
Hi, I had rei 9.2.0-20U working fine on emuNAND. I wanted to confirm I was on emuNAND before updating so I booted into sysNAND, verified that they were different, then powered off and attempted to restart into rei.
Whenever rei starts now, I see the splash screen then the screen goes black and the CFW doesn't load. I haven't updated anything yet.
What's wrong? I don't know what to do.
doubt anyone here will know, but does anyone know what the arm9 core is responsible for and what the arm11 core is responsible for? i'm having trouble figuring it out from what's on 3dbrew and i'm curious.
>i can't believe i fell for the hack your 3ds meme
maybe you should update
Okay, kinda new here, just a quick question.
I can just play online on emunand 10.5 without having to worry about getting banned or anything, right?
is there a way to update the emunand without using the system settings.
my 3ds doesn't recognise my better connection and the one it uses is unstable as fuck, so if I could do it manually that'd be great.
So I'm guessing it's safe to update emuNAND to 10.5.0 and rxtools will still work fine, menuhax won't break and shit?
Following the retard's guide and it was made back in 10.4.0 so it's a bit outdated but idk
>have to hold in L button whenever I turn my 3ds on now
wait, so since memchunkhax2 works in basically everything mch1 works in PLUS 9.3-10.3 and firmlaunchax wasn't fixed until 9.5, doesn't that mean that we should have kernel access in 9.3 and 9.4? or is there something i'm missing?
You serious? so how the fuck do I play shit online, it's going to need the latest version isn't it? I don't think I can stay on 9.2.0
You can put them in the root and its fine. Or you can make a folder, it literally doesn't matter: Whatever cia installer you use will ask for where they are at.
I, personally, go with folder as I like organization.
except I'm using rxtools and updated to 10.5 just fine
i have no idea what to do
You can also use the "install all" option when they're all in the same directory, which means you can queue them up and go do something else in the five hours it takes to install a few games.
The ARM9 does I/O (NAND, SD card, physical game cards), encryption, validation and title installation. ARM11 does basically everything else: games, GPU stuff, input stuff, wifi stuff.
All of the services on the 3dbrew services page run on ARM11. The PXI services at the bottom are the ones responsible for talking to the ARM9, but the actual PXI services themselves still run on the ARM11. Those are basically what the ARM11 can't do alone (so: the stuff actually happening on the ARM9).
It goes like this: game talks to FS:USER, FS:USER talks to FsPXI, FsPXI talks to Process9 running on the ARM9, Process9 on the ARM9 does actual things and the actual response to the game's "I wanted to load that texture" goes back from there.
If you've ever wondered why the system has trouble maintaining 1MB/s read/write speeds, now you know.
i followed that guide exactly, lemme post it.
was i supposed to do it in a specific nand? mine are unlinked so far and i'm not entirely sure which nand i did this in.
Alright. Also, here's how to inject FBI into H&S
1: Boot into MenuHax and then the Homebrew Launcher
2: Launch Decrypt9
3: Go to emuNAND options
4: Press Health and Safety dump
5: Select hs.app and wait for it to dump
6: Take your SD card out and go to your PC
7: Download this
https://github.com/d0k3/Universal-Inject-Generator and extract it somewhere.
8: Put hs.app and FBI.cia into the input folder
9: Run go.bat
10: Copy FBI_inject_no_banner.app to your SD card
11: Turn your 3DS back on, go into menuhax, homebrew launcher and Decrypt9
12: emuNAND options
13: Health and Safety inject
14: Select FBI_inject_no_banner.app and follow the instructions
15: Turn your 3DS off, turn it back on and boot into ReiNAND
16: Open Health and Safety
17: Install BigBlueMenu.cia
If you want to, you can revert to your normal, old Health and Safety app by simply injecting hs.app
Random question but why even bother updating your emuNAND to 10.5 at all? why not just leave it at 9.2 ?
so i'm just looking at cakehax's source here. just trying to understand what's going on, not to any specific end, i'm just curious. so correct me if i'm wrong, but would this be a general outline of what's happening?
arm11 userland code execution -> mch1 escalation -> firmlaunch-hax to load arm9 assembly payload that lets us compromise encryption, validation, etc.
does that look about right?
you still here m8? Can remember how I set up the langemu plugin for NTR, trying to do it on my other 3ds. SD Root>update>gameID579346739576>JP language file
I thought that was it but it's not working.
Yeah, the ARM11 reads the .cia (via the long way around) but the ARM9 is in charge of actually handling/validating it, and it's done using completely different codepaths from just writing regular files. It's perfectly content installing titles with valid tickets (legit cias, system updates) as long as they're not downgrades. Of course, "downgrade" stops being a downgrade if you remove the title first and Nintendo didn't have the foresight to go "hey, removing this critical system component is stupid", so you can just remove -> install to downgrade.
i have no idea at all, i ran the program and it put out fbi.app instead of FBI_inject_no_banner.app
isn't it suppsoed to put out multiple files too? i only got that one. i put it up here >>130365809
it's the original, provided the injecting program doesn't alter it at all
oh neat, so that's why sysupdater deletes titles during a downgrade. that's interesting. seems like a silly oversight on nintendo's part, i'm assuming the fact that they haven't just fixed it means they CAN'T just fix it
Gives me an error saying "This Game Card could not be read."
Does rxtools itself need an update first to be compatible? I set it up with the files in the retard's guide so it should be good, but I just now realized I have no clue how to update rxtools should I need too. I hope it isn't 100 more steps
a legit cia is a cia that is signed with a key that's whitelisted on ALL consoles
the 3ds will only install keys that have a valid cryptographic signature that is keyed to your system. however, these titles are signed with a key that's valid on all 3ds systems.
in short, it means that you can install them without disabling signature patching (which is usually done through a cfw); the 3ds will recognize them as legitimate system titles. even if you aren't running cfw at all, the games will install fine.
Pretty much. CakeHax is run from userland, it uses memchunkhax to gain ARM11 kernel access, from there it firmlaunchhaxes a small payload on the ARM9 (code.bin) that then loads the real payload from the SD card (Cakes.dat/rxTools code.bin/Decrypt9/EmuNAND9/more tools). Those then run completely outside of the confines of the usual 3DS firmware, that's why they can decrypt things directly and also the reason why the tools can be obnoxious to launch. After you're done fucking around in the menus, CFW eventually loads patched copies of the 3DS firmware (typically from its own firmware.bin) and jumps there, similar to firmlaunch.
the 3ds will only install games with a valid cryptographic signature, rather, not keys
and without disabling signature validation, not signature patching.
kind of out of it i guess
>though you should really get rxtools 3.0
I guess that's what I'm getting at. How do I update rxtools? I'm guessing it's not done from the actual rxtools menu where I hold L to access it? I only followed what that guide had so not sure how outdated that version of rxtools I have is.
I do want to play JP games, though.
cool, thanks for the response. i'll probably look into it a bit more out of curiosity, but that clears things up for me. it's crazy to me that people were able to figure all this stuff out to begin with, i know a decent amount about software but reverse engineering this kind of stuff is way beyond me.
i wouldn't unless you really, really want some of the new stuff 9.2 offers like autobooting
your options are sysupdater, which can brick you if you fuck up, and a 9.2 cart, which won't update network services like the browser.
for the purposes of cfw, 9.0 and 9.2 are identical, so feel free to use either.
its really stupid. Its may with her shorts and shirt painted to her skintone. you can see the clothing flaps.
thats it. and since the model is chibi she looks like a ten year old, which is sick.
I honestly don't know either. I've just been memorizing 3dbrew and getting a bit of an understanding as I mess around with regular userland shit, but how people were even able to begin reversing a system this complex is still unknown to me. I know they started with physical RAM dumps but going from there to finding the first real set of exploits is quite the thing.
Opening a simple compile of printf("Hello world") in your pirated copy of IDA is one thing, actually starting from scratch with a black box system is another thing entirely.
What size SD card is ideal for the 3DS? I want to make sure I have enough room for stuff before setting up a CFW. Also, if I just move everything from my current 4GB card over to the new one, it transfers homebrew accesses as well right? Such as Ironhax or Menuhax? Does it also transfer games and DLC?
downgrading is more dangerous than updating with sysupdater
if you're really planning to do that, then just update using sysupdater to 9.2, it's far more dangerous to update to 9.4 and downgrade using an unstable modded sysupdater that deletes all your titles before replacing them
yeah that one, it was on the root and didn't think I would need it.
do I need it? I'm done downgrading obviously but does it serve any purpose now?
i would say it's worth it for single player since it doesn't require any permanent modifications, but i would advise against spoofing firmware for online when iosu is coming out soonish
you don't need to update afaik
this is the guide i give everyone who asks about sub-9.0, it's about all i really know since i'm 9.2
someone else may know more
Question: Is there a way to edit save files?
I have FE Fates and am trying to do some class changing stuff.
Is there a way to do so? Not just Fates (though it would be preferable if somebody knows a way) but just save editing in general?
Is there an easy install guide for that?
I'm currently following this one, having started over:
>17. Open Decrypt9WIP
But it always goes to black after several attempts.
For unlinking NANDS? No you just boot into Sys, open System settings, click format, and when the red button pops up saying "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO FORMAT?" Take out the SD card and format it. Then when its done formatting pop the card back in and set up system from basics. They're now unlinked.
I get this message when I try to load NTR via rxtools. Any ideas?
I don't think the Wi-Fi/parental control things meant anything because changing them didn't change the result, but I do want to know if the blue dot above the purple means anything regarding specific errors.
Alright newfag here. Wanting to get Homebrew for any more stupid changes NoA makes in the future. I've got mine at 10.4 is it still possible or am I fucked? Can I just buy a N3DS and change that?
So I'm using rxtools on my o3ds,and every time I try to enter Emuand, it brings me back to the Loader(purple screen) and then crashes with a red and black screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Formatting the SysNAND doesn't effect your EmuNAND. Your EmuNAND is basically stored on the SD, which is why you take it out. By taking out the SD card you're only formatting the SysNAND. When you put your SD card back in, and start up your 3DS again with the SD in it'll generate a second folder, and your NANDs will be unlinked,
A new N3DS will most likely be on a firmware that allows it to be downgraded. Just follow the guides to the letter since you only get one chance at downgrading. If it fails and you are forced to upgrade to 10.5, just return the console to the store and get another one.
Hacked my 3DS with a small SD card; didn't have enough room to comfortably store games so I bought a bigger SD. I copy and pasted my files over to this new SD but when I try to launch rxMode with EmuNAND with rxtools with it, it just sends me to the regular homescreen. What do I do to make this SD compatible?
so all the files currently on it are all stored in one file for emunand?
and i should take the sd card out before i click yes?
i'm super confused, especially since tinyformat supposedly doesn't erase anything and that's what everyone else has recommended.
+1 on this. I have svdt but have not a damn clue how to use it at all...
Well once again if you don't trust me I can't really blame you but I'll break it down step by step, just for you anon. The EmuNAND is a partition on your SD. By booting into System settings and formatting from there, you'll be wiping the SysNAND. One thing you need to be sure of is to remove the SD. When you set up the settings of the initial setup once it's been formatted, you can put the SD back in and reboot. This generates another folder within the Nintendo 3DS folder with the title (Random Characters) find which ever folder does not have a folder called DBS and copy the DBS folder over. Insert SD card and boot into SysNAND. Go into System settings and click software. It'll ask to reset your something and allow it to. There ya go, you're done.
TinyFormat will format your sysNAND, of course it erases things. It just doesn't erase things on your SD card, unless you run it from emuNAND, in which case it would format your emuNAND instead.
>so all the files currently on it are all stored in one file for emunand?
Your emuNAND isn't stored in a "file", it's a hidden partition on your SD card. When you're making an emuNAND you are making an exact copy of what is currently in sysNAND and then moving it to a hidden partition on your SD card. That's why simply copying things over to a new SD card when upgrading your SD card isn't enough. You'd also need to extract the emuNAND and inject it into the new card.
Your games from both sysNAND and emuNAND are stored in the Nintendo 3DS directory on your SD card though. And that's where unlinking comes into play. If you don't unlink, both sysNAND and emuNAND will try to use the same subdirectory in that Nintendo 3DS directory, which can cause issues. So when you format sysNAND it begins using a different subdirectory which fixes that issue. That does have the consequence of deleting everything on your sysNAND, including menuhax, so you'll have to reinstall that.
And ignore what that other anon said, you want to use TinyFormat because it doesn't fuck with your NNID.
Still can't get Cakes running using the guide here:
I've got it all the way to where I should be booting into Cakes, step 20. I got past the health and safety injection. But every time I try to get into Cakes, it gives me an issue with the firmware.
>Please double check your firmware and firmkey/cetk are right.
Bottom screen says:
>Mounted SD card
>Failed to load the config
> Starting from scratch.
>Loaded FIRM key
>Decrypting the NCCH
>Failed to decrypt the firmware
slot0x25KeyX and slot0x11key96 are on my root.
In /cakes/, I have cetkey, firmkey, and firmware.
What's going wrong?
>played a lot
Mario 3D Land, MK 7, M&L Dream Team, FE awakening
>played a bit
NSMB2 (trash), OoT (boring as fuck), Kirby triple deluxe
Does OoT get any better? Just got to hyrule fields atm.
