Okay, I pulled the trigger and ordered two Ace3ds 's.

Price: They were listed as $ 9.90 each.

Shipping: I'm in the US. They had a $5.00 option for USPS, quoted at 2-5 days, with tracking number etc. They also had a "free shipping" option that didn't mention anything about tracking, listed at 13-17 days. Finally there was a bottom option for worldwide 3-7 day shipping listed at $35.

I went with the $5 USPS option.

Paypal: The final page said to use paypal, and to ONLY send the order number in the message field. I guess they want plausible deniability etc and don't want any "thanks for the pirate cart, dude!" messages. They didn't specify whether you needed to select the "I'm buying an item" link (recipient pays fees), or "send money to friends and family" (sender pays fees). I went with the "sender pays fees" option just in case. The total fees were like $1.67 so I wasn't too concerned.

My total was ~$26.57 or so for two 3ds- compatible flashcarts, so a little over $13 each. It's possible you could get this down to $9.90 each if you are willing to wait for shipping and make the buyer pay the paypal fees.

About the carts themselves:

I already own one of these (Ace3ds), and it works out of the box with my DS Lite and all my 3DS's. Didn't have to mess around with whitelists etc, it worked both before and after I installed CFW on my 3ds's. The game shows up as "Spongebob's Atlantis Squarepantis THQ" in the system menu. It takes a microSD card. You extract a .zip from the manufacturer's website to the root of the SD card, and drag-and-drop roms onto it. No patching etc shit required. Compatibility seems to be about 80% for the games I've tried. The Gambatte port for DS is actually better than the 3DS versions as it includes an original DMG pea-soup-green palette and better sound.

I am not currently aware of any Ace3ds fakes on the market, so pretty hopeful this will work.

If you want your shit fully supported, you'll either stay where you are or go up to 9.5. If you know of a highly specific reason you need 10.3, then I believe you need Cakes 108 first. I'm also not entirely sure you can update through Nintendo, I think people have had to use sysUpdater.cia (on EmuNAND) for some reason. Don't quote me on that.

Here is one example of what I did earlier, it's in 3D, inB4 "Anon I cannot see the 3D" and I say again 3DS needs stereograms to be flipped or they are wrong on 3DS screen.

So if you want to create a 3DS image that is not flipping the depth wrong way around from an stereogram image of your choice, you have to flip it from an crosseye image. 3DS is basically opposite of a crosseye image for the images to display right.

Anyway the image I pasted is made for 3DS so if you use it as your imagedisplay it will popout like it should.

It's possible that I just had bad roms/ needed to find patched versions, do something fancy etc. I'm not the type of person who ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO PLAY ONE GAME IN PARTICULAR and I still have ~60 DS games I like on here so wasn't too concerned. Now that I think about it, compatibility was probably closer to 90% or 95%, only game I can remember being disappointed didn't work was some Dragon Quest Monsters thing.

The reason I went for that card specifically is that I already own one (using it right now), and could verify that it works. I bought one TT something device and could never get it to work ("only" spent an hour getting it to work but my time's not worthless anymore , and this one "just werks" out of the box on all my systems.

I'm going to save 2 or 3 for myself and give the rest out to my (nontechnical) sister & cousins once I get them loaded up.

I have two DS's and three 3DS's. I'd like to just leave a flashcart each in the 2-3 of those that I actually use on a regular basis instead of having to swap carts all the time.

Holy fucking shit, why is sysUpdater such a flaming piece of shit? It took like three hours of rebooting just to get it to begin downgrading and then in the middle of it the 3DS crashed and said "An error has occurred, press power to shut off the system". I reboot and it's blank. I take out the microSD and it says it's 9.2 now, but there's probably something fucked up with it since it only patched like five files in the downgrade.

You just run the .jar after installing the Java Runtime Environment (better just known as "Java"). It should ask you the IP of your 3DS, that's displayed on your 3DS screen when you go into FBI's network mode.

If you're going to send multiple files at once, turn prompts off on the 3DS by pressing the button.

Also keep in mind that you need a recent FBI for this to work, the older ones don't have network support at all. If you only have rxTools-injected FBI, install the latest FBI from https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI/releases manually and use that instead of Health&Safety.

How do I change what programs appear on the home screen?
I had 10.3 ReiNAND working perfectly a couple days ago, but the MH4U I had installed never appeared on it (or my current sysNAND). FBI was on there by default somehow, and all was well, and after installing BBM, I installed a bunch of games.
Anyway, since I didn't want to just throw away the hundreds of hours I spent on MH4U, I spent a while just looking for a solution for my question. I overwrote the stuff in my Nintendo 3DS folder with the stuff from my backup (which was pretty much the exact same stuff, except without the games). MH4U appears on my home screen now, but none of my other games or programs show up, including FBI and BBM.
I'm honestly at a loss right now, since FBI gets stuck at "Loading file list" if I launch it from Menuhax.

I mean something like you check and uncheck a box and the game won't load the update anymore, you check it again and it loads the update.

I'm playing a Pokemon Omega Ruby rom hack and I'd like to take my save file online from time to time, but the rom hack runs on 1.0 so I can't load the 1.4 patch in order to play it. If I install 1.4 I can go online with it, but it breaks the rom hack, if I uninstall it it's fine but I can't go online.
I'd like to make that process smooth as described, as opposed to having to delete and reinstall the update every time.

So I installed the .cia for CHMM, it only allowing me to use a single theme. Will it kill menuhax if I use the HB version? If so, any other way of shuffling themes?

Looks nice. I like Heart Gold/Soul Silver's rendition of the city theme, but the original Red/Blue one fits the vibe you've got going.

Vermilion would be nice for a Red theme, even if I never associated a port town with the color red.
