In mhx I like to pretend that I'm a foreigner trying to earn a living in these strange lands because I cant understand what the npcs are saying. At first I was dissapointed that the fan translation didn't have translated npcs but it almost enhances the experiance.

It now feels like I'm in a truly unique world with strange characters. At times it is surreal and at other times almost frightening.

I like to think that I'm just taking contracts without realizing there is a bigger threat at hand which I'm sure there is. These games always have you saving the world/village but now my character has no clue what's going. It's great!

How about the timing for throwing a flashbang to hit a winged monster that just escaped a pit trap?

How does inflicting paralysis on a pitted monster affect the timer before it escapes? If a pit lasts 10 seconds and you para for 10 seconds after it's been in the pit 5 seconds, would it escape the pit at the end of the para (15 seconds total) or would it be stuck another 5 seconds after the para ends? (20 seconds total)

I like having AuL and Negate Stun. I'm not a PRO HUNTER, and learning openings with IG on my express own against a frenzied Gore that keeps jumping from place to place then setting off explosions normally would be really nice if I could manage to stick behind him. But somehow, the asshole always manages to keep me in front of the face.

Is it wrong to ask for some advice on this? I remember I used to suck dick at Tigrex until someone noted the sweet spot between his wings and tail letting you get a good opening on his face. Surely there's something like that for frenzied Gore that isn't "lel just mount".

Anyways, for Gore stick to his crotch and you're generally pretty safe. Build up some mount damage before he goes frenzy and when he does quickly mount him and wail on his head to break the frenzy. He's really pretty easy once you learn his tells because they're all rather obvious.

Shaggy is the same thing, his crotch is a fairly safe area to be in. You'll still have to learn to read his moves but you'll always be in a good position to get out of the way easily. You can go for juices any time since launching the bug doesn't slow you down. If you're still somehow getting punished for it then try marking him and spamming R+X and hope the bug grabs the juice you need.

You don't really need openings to grab juices, just good aim. Idk how long you've been using the bugstick but eventually it's second nature and you can grab juices on the fly easily. How many times have you fought him? sounds to me like you're just frustrated and need to face him a few more times and get a handle on his patterns. Play it safe and don't go for big combos but just get a poke or two in and then roll away and repeat. It will be slow but you'll start to catch on.

late post: my gore/shagaru rule of thumb is Always Roll Forward. if you have attacks with great forward mobility (SNS/CB jumpslash, etc.) use those instead.

Don't bother mounting solo unless it's to help you destroy a part. In multi generally you want to mount once since the first one comes so fast (except fatalis where spamming mounts is good), but not more than that. Focus on learning how to attack monsters as much as you can without jumps and mounts.
Learn what combos are best for what openings. Learn to utilize the stab for very small ones. Watch some TAs and see what the good players do if you need some starting points.
The highest dps opener for a big gap is A X X, and A X is generally the best combo for medium openings if you have time for it. For example, that's what you should be trying to get in whenever Rajang trips, but you need to know when you can't quite get it in, especially when his hands are red, in which case a slightly faster combo is X X. For small but not tiny openings the X twirl is generally your best option.
You'll want to learn how to best utilize back A too, but its proper use is very limited for most monsters, so it's quite low priority. The only monster it's extremely good for is Teo, but he needs to be pretty big so it's usually only in 136+.

It's the best in the majority of situations but not the only one worth getting. Each of the other three has their own applications, and effect extender is actually only a very slight gain in dps on most monsters where it's super easy to get red buff especially with a 150 speed endgame kinsect (or faster, if you have literally anything besides the effect extender). There's a lot of work to be done regarding monster polish so I don't blame them. Here's a list of quirks I've noticed off the top of my head:

1. Stuns will override monster reactions to parts breaking. E.g. if you break Shogun's shell when he is stunned, he will stay stunned but his shell will vanish. Critically, this means that Akura will not let you cut off his tail if you break either claw or his head while he is stunned.

2. Monsters that are weakened will play their weakened animation only until their state changes. They then change back to playing their regular animation until they decide to change zones. This means that if you weaken something and it trips immediately after, it will not play its weakened animation, which is why everyone uses passives to figure out when to capture.

3. Akura has a bug where his parts become unbreakable until he changes zone. His colour changes also appear random and do not correpsond to his attack patterns as they should.

4. Ice Chramine will occasionally rotate 180' without playing his turn animation.

There's plenty more besides. They really need to polish the monsters up.

So apparently, when I enter random halls with my DB paralysis set in MH4U, it displays a glitched 20k paralysis. It has always read 200 on my end. Today is the first day someone told me, and I doubt it has happened in the past.

I don't cheat, no save edits, been playing with you all for a while, and I want to figure out how this is happening!

There's a few new moves, such as the advancing shell which can be done from a guard(or at any time) by pressing forward and x, quite useful if you play guard based and in general.

If you do the running poke up a ledge you'll auto climb it, and if you do it off a ledge you'll reload a shell into a slam, you can do a full burst or a wyverns fire from here (or both).

Sadly (for gunlance) most things move like they are on crack in 4u and your damage output will be quite subpar when you bust into late g rank.

I forget if you could do this before but you can also sidestep after a charged shell now, so if you're playing widelance this is worth remembering.
