Browser/Menuhax both work on the latest firmware again. Anyone interested in trying the English patch should get them.
memchunkhax2 allows downgrading any current 3DS to firmware 9.2. Visit Homebrew General for details.
While not without risks, most hunters are reporting successful downgrades. Be sure you understand the process.

I used to talk with him more frequently outside of /mhg/
He legitmatelly shitposts non-stop here whenever hes on.
He got BTFO hard last thread so expect a lot of shitposting without his trip.
Then sometimes he puts it back on when he feels like hes actually worth something, but in reality never is.
Hes pretty pathetic, this is really all he has going for him. Its why I stopped hanging out with him.
I dread to think how big this Zinogre can become.
I've been playing since Freedom 2, posting since 3U's release, played online since ~August 2015 (very rarely) and tripping since late last year. I guess you require some stroke of luck in order to run into me.
>called us bad because we occasionally get hit by poison needles
No, I called you bad because you claimed an armor set was needed to deal with these things, which leads me to believe you get hit SO MUCH you actually run out of items or carts to deal with those things.
> I'd never even waste a minute on getting good on such a pointless filler monster with unsatisfying gameplay.
I think you should reconsider hunting Crimson Arzuros, then. He's a surreal challenge, and Level 8 Crimson Arzuros is possibly the hardest hunt I've done in the series so far.
>too scared to join someone in 4U
No, I'm busy playing Monster Hunter X. I don't mind sating your thirst when I get tired of it, but that might take months. If you want to take me up on it, let me know and I promise to follow up.
I have it on 3DS, can't play online.
>Keep defending something you dislike
Something not automatically disallowed from existing just because I dislike it.
>this absolutely isn't autistic and absolutely doesn't make you look like an attention-whoring teenager
Inability to divert from black and white thinking and calling everything you don't like "autistic", "attention-whoring" and "immature" absolutely doesn't make you look like an attention-whore teenager.
The last mental breakdown I had was when I was about 15 years old, which is more than half a decade ago.
I've never voice chatted with anyone from here either, let alone anyone from 4chan. My voice is also very deep and monotone.
Citation would be nice, but you're not going to give any because there isn't anything to cite. I don't actually mind you doing this, though. I think it's funny you're trying your best to stir shit up.
What's the appeal of real life friends?
>asking for a citation of you having a suicidal breakdown a few months ago on a skype call
Lol no one recorded it dumb fuck.
>whats the appeal to real life friends
>but I dont mind being unlikable by everyone!
I bought a used copy of MH4U yesterday. The last owner's save file was still on the cart, he had;
133 hours clocked in
A shit-ton of switchaxes, the highest damage one being Azure rose
A full set of "Rath soul" armor
4 pages of talismans in his equipment box
Hunter rank 6
Where should I go from here? I'd rather not delete the save file since it's basically skipping the slower early game.
>asking for a citation of your having a suicidal breakdown a few months on a skype call
Who are you quoting?
Please be nice.
>>but I don't mind being unlikable by everyone
Who are you quoting really?
It's Monster Hunter Spirits.
The arcade version of Stories
If it matters aught to you, Dinowaldo is also in that arcade game as well.
I played under 100 hours of 3, so i'm not totally new to the series but I'm unsure how to pick up from someone elses progress. For now i've just been replaying old missions with the higher level gear.
was that the one with the fuckugly monster babys?
Pick a weapon type, look at kiranico and choose a tree for every element. Practice new mechanics in low rank. Don't bother with armor sets unless you are at g rank. Use athenas ass to build a clown suit, i tend to prioritize weapons first.

>legendary creature that nobody has seen that is very fast summons lighting instead of producing it did i mention it's a dragon oh and it has a white shadow just because it's cool
MH was way less of it than any following title, but it wasn't lacking it either.
Tencent is LITERALLY saving Monster Hunter
Finally a HR-unlocked turns room
Back in MHFU, wyverns have two kinds of turns indicative of the danger level of the attack they're going to do. Tri removed that slow turn because apparently, sniping monster faces was getting unbalanced despite being part the core gameplay of the series.
If only it didnt take 2 weeks of Beavers, Congala, and Gycepros to get to the fun MHO fights.
Only 35 and gonna only be 37 today. Then prob 39 because its def gonna hit the cap before 40.
Then I can finally start doing fun stuff.

how do critical hits and hit zones which you'd bounce off of due to low sharpness work together?
do they apply the crit damage on top of the reduced damage?
Fairly simple, use dodges for positioning. Use guard advances/side hopping for quick forward movement without sheathing. never finish your combo unless you know you can avoid the damage. Counter is your greatest friend
1) Get Guard +2 or Evade +2
2) Get Razor Sharp or Sharpness +1, maybe Speed Sharpener too
3) If using Guard, learn what you can or can't block or counter (you can counter roars and tremors, by the way)
4) Use sidehops to cancel the ending animation of your third poke to keep poking
Two backsteps followed by a long backstep are the absolute fastest you can move with your weapon drawn, but if you're backsteping towards the monster you're wide open. Guard advances are much safer but slower.
What is the difference between evade and guard? or should I get both?
Also when coutnering how much damage am I doing?
the Counter charge apparently has 3 levels (short charge =22 mv, mid charge=22 mv, full charge=50 mv)
If I counter a monster's attack whilst charging, how much damage would I deal? is it dependent on how long I charged before i countered it? or would it always deal 50 mv?
>Favourite 3 monsters
Chaotic gore magala, Osutogaroa, Kushala daora.
>Least favourite monsters
white monoblos, monoblos, Stygian zinogre
you either block shit or you evade shit, evading shit is more fun than blocking shit but they're all roughly the same damage output and evading is a lot more counter intuitive
is there any weapon more armorskill dependant in its functionality than (gun)lance?
like every other weapon naked is mostly the same, you just gotta be more careful. but lance is functionally neutered wo evade or guard skills right?
and I'm not trying to shit on lance, I really like the weapon. but running it naked is suffering
Trying to get into DBs to kill GQ Rajangs in MH4U, problem is I don't know what's good for DBs and what's not worth bothering with.
Planning on the Eternal Leavetakers so S+1 is pointless, and I definitely want to invest in:
But I'm not sure what other skills are best worth investing in. Current possible candidates are:
>Focus / Ferocity
>Fencing / Steady Hand
>Attack Up (XL) / (L)
>Status Atk +2
>Something else (Please specify)
Any recommendation for Double Blade pros?
the counter damage will pretty much be, if you counter an attack, you're doing minimal mv. If you full charge it (usually only happens for whiffs) then you do the increased mv as compensation. Idk why these people say evade lancing is harder, eva +3 makes everything trivial, but it is entirely up to your playstyle
>True gameplay: standing your ground and blocking with giant shields like we were intended to
>Blasphemy: lol, my abilities let me jump through attacks; because I feel I need a crutch due to my limited movement
Is it obvious that I have absolutely no idea what skills would be good for Status double blades? Because I've no idea.
I want to be able to sleep or para Rajang at some point in the fight, that's half the point in me using them in the first place.
What raw boosting skills are worth it?
What's a raw boosting skill?
I got some lucky charms during my mh4u runs, but I ran Entomotheos with Status +2 Status Crit, Crit Eye +2, and there was something else, but I don't remember.
I'd always get 4+ paras per run with the exact amount depending on the monster.
Usually with a second para following almost immediately after the first
Thanks, gonna try again.
I only have a week of MH series but I lost my save so I started over. I'm fighting it naked to prove a point.

Damn the variant fights are cool as hell
Alright /mhg/, time for an off the wall question.
Going to pretty up a pair of old pistols and give them a Rathian+Rathalos motif (Because I love Mohun and they are Ruby pistols)
One thing I can't figure out though is what to make their secondary colors, like black for the tips of the scales/wings or some sort of tan like the underbellies.
Will dump a few pics of what I'm thinking of that I have been fucking around with in CAD
nah. all of the really difficult shit is optional.
MHX is pretty average difficulty until you start doing variants and outraged mons, then it becomes far more difficult than 4u
And another angle
Relatively unimportant note, but these aren't the gun I'm fooling with, it's just decently similar and I turned off parts until it looked close
And the Rathian colored one
I'm very new to "rendering" and "making things pretty"
>then it becomes far more difficult than 4u
>just now realize rathalos has ears
they look so awful, like a gremlins
I like the black grips with the red and green. pretty sweet looking so far.
question, can you make two times of red and green on the guns? like maybe a darker shade for the body and a lighter shade for the top sliding bit? (sorry for poor terminology. idk guns)
Yes I can, I'll whip up some pictures but I'm planning to get the duracoated, and since it's actually a kind of paint instead of a finish, I can get it in just about any damn color I want
When will we get a magic based weapon that is ranged instead of blademaster.
>Guns/bows and melee weapons
>fantasy setting with big monster and shamans and shit already
>talking cats and other wierd ass creatures
>no magic class yet
Alright, took less time to render than I expected, went ahead and included my other decision, whether I want to engrave the full name or just the abbreviation on it.
I see where you're coming from. I just get sad because there are so many melee types but only 3 ranged and no magic weapon. I want my monster battles to be "you shall not pass". People are always suggesting boomerang, flail, or guantlets but no mage weapon.
Oh yeah, and the top sliding bit is called the slide, so you were pretty close
Could probably do the engraving myself since I have access and do the programming for a CNC mill, just gotta practice a bit with it and see if I can get a appropriate bit that's small enough and can handle really tough steel
I'm pretty sure hunters are decedent's of genetically modified people. Isn't that the fan theory if anyone more knowledgeable on the lore can shed some insight? I know that concept book sheds a lot of light on the lore with the pic of that huge man made monster or whatever.
Ya dragons dogma looks really good I might get that now that it's on pc.
You be talkin bout the
equal dragon weaponmy nig
I have fun trying out weapons and shit not knowing the path. I realize it's not the most optimal way to spend your money but I think it's part of the game and adds a little something.
What is the most underrated weapon and why is it the
Hunting Horn? It's fantastic in groups as long as HH user doesn't just spam songs, you get great damage ups while doing damage yourself.
SA and CB were ancient technology reverse-engineered for modern use.
problem is it needs its attack up song just to keep up with other weapons. but not every other weapon has new arts buffing their damage, but hh only got recital boosting arts.
hh needs adrenaline to be 'competitive' which is why people seem to utter them in the same breath every so often
How well does mhx play on 2ds? I don't want to mess around too much with my n3ds, and I was thinking about just buying a 2ds and downgrading that.
when i try to boot MHX i get an eternal black screen. can anyone help?
running rxtools. emunand is fully updated and i am using this method to launch japanese games.
MHX is locked at 30fps, allegedly o3ds has trouble being consistent.
If I were you I'd just nut up and go through the cfw process with n3ds. You'd have to be a honest to god subhuman who triple carts to jaggis if you were to brick it.
It plays whatever (definitely playable but gets framedrops, not as bad as wiiu 3U ones though) and as i remember it has piss tiny original 3ds screens, just buy used or refurbished XL or n3ds XL for pirating
Yeah, I checked out the pastebin links in hbg and none of it seemed difficult to follow. I'm just too careful with my n3ds.
I guess I could just buy a 2ds and do a trial run, and if it works out, I'll move on to (carefully) downgrading my n3ds. Then I'll just give the 2ds to my little brother for his birthday or something.
It really doesn't. I can tell you right now by booting into a town that its a locked 30. o3ds and n3ds versions both share the same textures (for better and for worse) and the only difference is that n3ds does a better job keeping the 30fps more consistent.
It theres going to be any "magic", I'd rather is be science/alchemy based. The use of monster's elemental sacs and organs, all the different insects like Flash and Thunder bugs, that general psuedo-science meshed with biology that they use to make the weapons, is all far more interesting and in-line with the series than actual magic.
Just using spells from a staff would be lame.
Having some kind of large staff outfitted with tubes and boiling flasks while a Flame sac and Rath Ruby lie inside kept alive by Voltstones and embalming fluid unleash fireballs and poison gas from the phial-vent on the top would be the tits.
Just dont make its gameplay too complex and we're golden.
>Khezu staff made from its hide stapled to a metal pole with Frankenstein bolts and wires all around it
>Constant lightning arc
>F.L.U.D.D water gunning
>laying down Health-smoke bombs so team mates can quickly heal without having to leave the area
>Do the same with status to fuck up monsters
>Leave Para-smoke bomb "spell" where the minion monsters are to keep them out of the fight
This could actually work
>ask if it's the fan theory
>"no its your fan theory"
Uh ok I didn't realize that was my theory thanks for clarifying.
Starting with MH4 it became overshadowed my worse offenders, like the new Switch Axe combo is bloody murder.
CB mainly trips if they spam shield bash or actually use the upswing. It certainly doesn't have to.
>tfw /mhg/ has no drawfags
I have to see this science-stick made real
>Weapon gets called Science-Staff
>Blacksmith keeps asserting you and other NPCs that no its not god-damn magic, its just technology
>You defeat your first Elder Dragon and bring them the parts
>"...okay maybe this one will be."
don't forget clockwork insect glaive anon.
Also that one powersuit set with the silly wheelyshoes. I forget whet it's called.
"Elder Dragon Magic"-mind
>Yian Garuga still sends you fucking flying when it charges towards for a split second and then does the attack it actually intended to do
It basically doesn't even move and I get knocked out of the fucking air. What the fuck, Ichinose. Swear it wasn't like that in 4U.
Just Bone and Iron starting ones would be cool. It would also help really nail how the weapon functions, since Monster weapons dont always look like they "work", y'know?
But if they're too boring or such, then that Khezu one that anon mention would be neato.
mspaintfag here, you may remember me from the naked shenanigans.
Drew you up a really basic rath-stick. was this what you had in mind? I figure you point it toward the enemies to get shit done, and the potions are loosely attached and swing around so they don't spill.
Rathian could be neat, I love the refined aesthic of it's weapons.
>was this what you had in mind?
...I'm going to put it on the fridge, MSPaint Anon
I figured the stick was as big as the bigger IGs. Also that the red bottle was the size of a rath's stomach where a ruby would naturally form.
besides, it was just a mock-up to make sure we were on the same page about it being basically a chemistry rack that you can hold.
>Slender green-glass vase wrapped in thorny vines with a Ian-scale rose at the top as the spell-emitter
Jesus yes, unf. These weapons make themselves.
not that anon who said he wanted to try but i tried
sorry it's shit
Apologies for the quality, made it on my phone.
In a way, thats I imagined it as; The staff contains organs, valves and engines which you put phials into, which react and burst out the top/front of the staff.
fire phials for flamethrower or fireballs, electric phials for thunderbolts, ice phials for insta-blizzard, etc etc.
If a Rath flame sac can form fire, whose to say with some tinkering it couldn't be engineered to produce other elements or statuses?
Science-stick anons; Y'ALL GETTING CLOSER.
But the general idea should be more in-built, rather than the core parts hanging off or swinging around (unless the monster its made of would call for such a design)
>Finally finish building the perfect clown suit
>Don't even feel like playing the game any more
>this thread right now
I'm loving the creative boom, though, seriously
Let's get some moveset ideas for this mofo.
I think a gout of the inherit element would be a cool basic attack, something like a steady stream of fire if you hold x. Maybe have a charge meter that can build up into massive area of effect 'spells' like a fire tornado or whatever. Maybe make it a fairly short range weapon. Have a be a fireball sort of missile attack. Make it so you can combo into other moves?
Maybe have the 'spells' be recolored to the element? So you could have fire, water, electric effects.
>I never fought 140 Garuga... Never even bothered trying to minmax for GQs at all...
So X really IS full of shitters and casuals? It's not a meme but reality?
I'm even less motivated to downgrade now....
How about this : Blunt IG with the buffless moveset tweaked a bit, hit the monster to charge the staff, once the gauge is full you can "unleash" it like GL in frontier until the gauge is empty (DB gauge but you can't fill it back up)
R uses "magic" like spraying pheromones/element or firing a projectile/dropping an effect gas
Polevault is replaced by an AoE buff depending on the phial
Haha time for autism!
Includes all the "large" Elder Dragons that have their own separate locations for battle. This means Fatalis, Ceadeus, Amatsu, Osutogaroa, etc. Basically all the huge titans that can fuck up an entire ecosystem given the chance
There are huge gaps in power in this tier though. The strongest monster would be a toss-up between the Fatalis Trio and possibly Dire Miralis. Amatsu/Gog would be more mid-tier with Elder Dragons like Yama Tsukami and the Mohrans further down on the tier
Akantor and Ukanlos. Altough they are not Elder Dragons they share a shitload of characteristics with large Elder Dragons such as being refered as Gods, being xbox huge, being able to fuck up ecosysistems, etc. Also Akantor can casually snap a Gravios's neck. How cool is that?
Includes "minor" Elder Dragons. As a rule of the thumb these are the ones that can befought in GQ in MH4U. As in Chameleos, Shagaru Magala, Teostra and such. Strong af, but not comparable in raw power to the titans above.. In this thread can also be included the Rare Species (Abyssal Lagiacrus, Metal Raths, etc) and the Rajang/Deviljho variants. Also Raging Brachydios
Sitting in this tier between a realm of Elder Dragons and regular species sit Rajang and Deviljho. Possibly Chaos Gore Magala as well. Kirin is also here, being the only Elder Dragon availble for dual GQ and being Rajang's usual prey. Shen Gaoren also included
Includes regular monsters you tipically fight at the end of ranks. Either Apex Predators like Rathalos or Agnaktor or powerful Herbivores no one messes with like Gamuto and Uragaan. Flagships in general go here. It's important to once again note power gaps within the tier, seeing as Brachydios can easily murder an Agnaktor.
Mid-tier monsters, fought at mid-tier ranks. Barioth, Rathian, Najarala, Zamtrios. Powerful predators on their own right that are however unable to compete with the big dogs
Medium-Low tier monsters. Usually the ones you fight when the training wheels come off. Daimyo Hermitaur, Barroth and such
Low-tier monsters. First one you fight. These usually tend to have minions or form relationships with other monsters to compensate for their lack of strengh. All the raptors, Seltas, possibly Arzuros as well.
Herbivores and Raptor Minions. Basically everything you can kill in one or two hits
The MHX variants I imagine, bump the monster a Tier (so HC Rath would be Elder Dragon Tier and so on)
That's what IG already is (apart from being more of a rifle and less of a glaive) though. The glowy part of each IG glows the same colour as your kinsect's bottom because it's a tank filled with your kinsect's pheromone, which you shoot from an integrated bowgun (which is most obvious with glaives like the assault glaive or le miracle) if you tap r.
Minimal raw, only pure element attacks. Weapon scaling only through element.
Works almost like kinsect IG playstyle.
Take the massive spells from Dragons Dogma and give it to the science-stick as Hunter Arts.
Not arguing against that. It's just that simply larger Elder Dragons are much more of a threat. If we were to compare I could say that Kushala Daora is pretty much an Amatsu lite, and Teostra's pyro abilites are a matchstick compared to sheer amount of fire, lava and heat a Dire Miralis can generate.
Regarding Gog beating Fatalis, I find it very doubtful as Gog is weak to fire. Altough being possibly one the more ancient Elder Dragons currently existing it may very well also linger near the top
King Shaka is meta tier
Science-Stick anon(?) here, heres kind of what I meant;
Everything is contained within, with the handle on the side so it doesnt need thing middle to hold like IG. Its also a green-glass container, but thats phials and an sac in there, with the "emminator" on the top, plus the activation switch on the side (like a perfume nozzle)
If you're gonna do tiers in a quasi-scientific manner, at least recognize the fact that the majority of monsters aren't restricted to one fucking gender. They're animals. Fictional ones, but animals nonetheless.
After a quick scanning of the examples you've all drawn and reading some of the ideas you're all throwing around, I think I know exactly what you're looking for. I can't wait for 6pm PST to show you what you've all inspired.
(That's about 5 hours from now for anyone not living in western US)
i think we have the official name of our new weapon
Well... You're not wrong.
Plus, this is the most civil the general has been in a while. I like this.
>guildmarm molting into Shagaru Magala
oh yeah, as for moveset idea;
Generally fires out the element you have equipped (ammo is phials but these you make like ammo), can aim like all ranged weapons. Holding down the attack does a steady stream of element, which you can move and aim with like LBG. Tapping does a ball of element.
Can also lay "farcasters" down on the spot that emit a phial repeatedly for about a minute, like Fire, Poison, Health or Demondrug. Naturally, buffing ones only work on hunters but negative ones can affect hunters as well.
Can charge up a phial for a wyvernfire style "storm" attack, where you blast a large cone of the element in front of you but it pushes you back and stops you from doing stream attacks.
Dalamadur is a hard one to grasp. Being literally big enough to feed on a fucking Lao-Shan Lung and then all that meteor shit and generating so much heat from the chest it can literally scorch the land I don't think even stuff like Fatalis would attempt to hunt it. I'm kinda iffy about a Tier 0 separated from the rest but it's probably the strongest monster introduced so far.
Raviente is Frontier Shit. We do not talk about Frontier Shit
I'll see what I can do, just for you, anon
I'm the guy >>128665935
Just drew this shit up, obviously not detailed at all but imagine it more zingorey.
Yeah my paint skills are shit. The proportions should be adjusted, and more fur/layered look like the other zingore weapons. Maybe this anon >>128685190 could touch it up to make it look better.
I'm still playing MH4U and want to better myself by beating my personal bests (kill times) on various G missions/Guild Quests.
I want to maximize my damage with charge blade, should I go Elemental Builds (5 sets) or Impact build (1 set)
I really like the whole joint thing the bone one has going on.
I feel like all the actual workings should be nearer the top instead of spread throughout the staff, since now the staff looks too chunk.
I know you said "so its not like an IG" but I'm thinking the Bone Glaive with the blade removed and replaced with the Cello-like spike there, then flipped upside down, then the pheromone part chunkier and longer (downwards, so the hand grip is smaller, too). Thatway all the mechanics are focused at the top and are clear to see.
I like your iron one but its a bit like a Gunlance combined with a wooden spirit-level.
Now that you mention it, you have a point about the mass-balance. I'll try your idea out, what you've said about the Iron science-stick now means I cant see it any other way, hah.
I'll give it a shot if I have the time (meant to be working on something else right now but I'm frantically doodling these weapons)
Kind of like this?
I have never felt pity for a Black Diablos before.
Then I watched Blanche and John fight one.
Should I be worrying about element on the weapons still and briniging element types that the monster im currently hunting is weak to? for ex
Propensity for Fire weak bosses and Ceadeus for water weak bosses?
yes, teach it from a fighting cat that has it.
you can only teach a palico one skill and one passive, so make sure the one you are training has everything you want besides those.
Best mhx hunter style for lance? Better yet what are the best style for each individual weapon?
>Gs guild style or aerial
Don't know others
i dont need to fish, i'm a real man.
you should try it sometime.
SO what's the sticky on playing MHX online? I read it another thread they a few people got banned.
>finally finish my
>can finally have fun
Running around with Dokudodo is fun shit
I edited my save file for MHX to toy around with the new weapons and armor sets.
Tempest Set is the sexiest shit I've seen in this series in a long while.
My favorite long sword is the Dinovaldo one, (the name is in moon only character I can read is "katana")
Also who else is fucking ecstatic that they fixed the spirit guage and took it back to gen 3?
The longsword feels viable as a damage dealer again. Fuck yes.
literally Kill yourselves.
Guildmarm is a miracle of the FUCKING universe.
>This bitch didn't even stop calling me doodle after I did all she asked
Is that you?
Doodle is a lovable nickname.
WE GOT A HOTHEAD
Best, actually. I think you'll agree after I've turned her into shagaru.
Yes but there's not much point to it unless you're fighting monsters super weak to poison like Kushala. I suppose Blast DBs might be pretty good for Multi-Monster quests, but other than that stick with element
Is bushido lance the best? You push r right before getting hit and get to counter attack. Seems to me that lance got a lot better this game. Also anyone have a link to a good Lancer in mhx? Side note, should I go for raw lance or elemental?
I promise anon, it's not what you think it's going to be.
Why does Nintendo always do this shit when I've got all day free to play?
Am I too late for this fad?
Now we're cooking.
Needs a couple of vents/exits for the "magic" to come out of, though. Also maybe some triggers and/or tubes around the handle?
Striker style lance is pretty amazing since the tradeoff is losing your sideswipe and getting a standard faster poke combo instead of the new longer one. Plus the charging stab attack recharges crazy fast.
Just when the thread was finally becoming civil and talking about things like armor sets and new weapon ideas, the angry posters return.
