How's Azure Striker Gunvolt?

I have absolutely no hope for Mighty no. 9, but this one looks kinda like ZX. And I didn't hate ZX completely.

In terms of gameplay, it's very close to Zero and ZX with regards to how you move. You can dash and kick off walls, even double-jump and air dash with the right equipment.

Attacking is an entirely different affair, involving shooting enemies to 'tag' them, then holding down a button that shocks any tagged enemies in order to do any significant damage to them. It's very different from the attack methods of Mega Man games, as your shots aren't the main method of damaging foes.

Overall, Gunvolt's pretty polished, and you can tell a lot of passion went into it from its creators. The 3DS version differs from the Steam version with regards to content, as dialogue that occurs in stage and during boss battles was gutted from the 3DS edition's release. Inti-Creates is working on a patch to restore the content to the 3DS version however.
I'd say to check out a video of the first stage, just to see what you're in for.

The way Zero's Z-Saber moved in X6 when he swings it is a bit different from X4/X5, while X swings the one he has a lot like Zero in those games.

They are. They're quite difficult to get and the stats are necessary to their routes.
There's a Tips text document with basic info for routes, and a Complete Walkthrough that specifies the exact way to get the route endings.
