I backed during the kickstarter with an aurora, and then upgraded. Haven't spent a penny since
I hope none of you have a Redeemer, fuck that
go with the multi-purpose ship in the price range you're most comfortable with.
Aurora LN $35 - slow as fuck
Avenger Titian $50 - faster and more agile than the Aurora. Holds slightly less.
Cutlass Black $100 - actually totally sucks in a fight. Is actually pretty fast for a ship with that large a hold.
Freelancer $110 - God awful view. More durable, but also less agile than a cutlass.
Constellation Andromeda $225 - Amazing do everything ship. But owning one turns you into a utter douche that thinks his mary sue ship that has huge shields, a shit ton of large guns, a fuck load of missiles, giant cargo bay, and it's own baby ship should be as fast and agile as a fighter because Chris Roberts once called it the "Millennium Falcon of Star Citizen".
Maybe two years from now after every other ship has been made flight ready.
This is objectively the best fleet selection. The only other 2 large ships worth owning are an Orion or a Reclaimer.
They also called the Constellation a Space Superiority Fighter in the initial campaign, those were fun times
Can't see the Avenger being multi-purpose though, even if it's a starter ship the Reliant may be more fitting
Don't joust, ever. Strafe and dart in and out. The gladius' yaw and horizontal strafe sucks now so pitch/vertical only. Use missile at close range once you've weakened the hornet' shield, they can't chase targets for shit anymore.
Gladius is a meme ship atm (that means it's bad)
Ben will never leave CIG, and the Endeavor is his science-ship baby. You're fucking retarded if you want science gameplay and don't go into Endeavor.
Buy the base and earn the modules, you goyim.
S3 guns on the wings and the dual S1 turret the early version of the ship had would help a lot.
>playing a space sim
>to do imaginary space science
>paying $900 to do so
>thinking this post is about anything you said
I have improved the function of the retaliator
>used to be aegis general
>He bought an avenger
>Redeemer is shit
It raised the quality bar of the ships by quite a bit, but it has pretty much been surpassed now. My biggest issue is the fact that the current in-game mesh is just a fucking mess. I don't know if it's due to the LoDs or what, but it doesn't look anything like
Oh and obviously both interior and exterior are hardly practical right now. Fucking least functional ship in the game.
Yes, I know. But when it goes back to Cologne I mean. You think CIG will invite some of the local Syrians to enjoy his creation and the comopany of his backers and their closest female relatives?
I made a video.
>giving it similar firepower to a base hornet (hornet would still have better protection, and more cargo capacity than an avenger or base aurora)
Picking both makes you a hornet nigger
Right so I think I'm going to get this vapourware piece of shit because I'm an idiot who can't resist burning money on things that seem nifty.
I've been thinking about getting an Avenger Titan, because it looks wicked smart, semi cheap, isn't overly specialised like the Warlock or Stalker and has an interior I can walk around in (which is a must have for me).
But should I get it now or wait until it gets the sheduled redo?
I don't think I like the look of that ship, but I might consider it. It says it has 2 people in the cockpit, but I don't have anyone to play with either.
It's not like I have a choice Anon.
Darnit Anon, it asked for one of those when I made my account less than 5 minutes ago.
Thank you anyway, I'll save it in a text document and hope these things don't have an expiry date for when I get my ship.
Anyway I looked at the packages but the only one there is the Avenger Stalker, I don't see one for the Titan.
Just to note, not all ships have a game package though which prevents you from upgrading to the larger ships (if you decide to do so down the line). Pretty much all the one seater ships do have game packages though.
But what about the better hangar, extra money and insurance that comes with the Stalker? I'd need to buy all that separately, wouldn't I?
I don't understand why they don't just have 1 package for every ship and you can select which variant you want with a corresponding price change.
I also don't understand why the specialised Stalker is the base model of the Avenger and not the all purpose Titan.
You get whatever hangar is associated with your ship, and all hangars cheaper than that by default. You get all the other stuff as well when you do a ship upgrade, don't worry about it.
Of course you can change it, the cells are just a module slapped in the cargo bay. You'll be able to swap them around at some point when modules are implemented in the holotable.
Does it worry anyone else that stations like shielding will be completely useless unless they are also paired with some sort of view like the pilot has of WTF is going on around the ship? Like at the moment all crew stations just have a view of a contextless control panel.
They said that the Javelin comes without the turrets and guns.
Did they get rid of the stupid "the sides are modular!" feature?
I remember reading about one whale buying it because it was going to be quicker to have a Javelin released than a Merchantman for the same cargo capacity.
Why isn't the big turret on top of the command deck instead of being an asymmetrical piece of junk?
I highly doubt they'll take out something which is kind of its selling point entirely
Have they ever said how large the Hangar Bay is supposed to be? Like how many ships can it hold in comparison to the post-frigate Idris?
Last info was a single medium ship, but they might have changed that. If you really want to you can watch the Javelin part of the holiday stream again, maybe they showed the hangar.
Huh, never realized the Hull E was that big
Have they said anything on making an actual corvette? I want to see if they give it to another manufacturer other than Aegis/Anvil/RSI
it looks weirder to me to have the main turret behind the command post. It doesn't obey the rule of cool, how are you supposed to see your shots leave the barrel to then crash on Furry scum if the turret is behind you?
I find it funny how the old Idris could barely fit a single hornet in the hangar width wise and now it can fit two side by side hornets with wings folded. Foundry 42 is the studio we need.
Waiting for Tali launch on live so I can trade one for a Tali
Aurora MR -> LX -> Avenger Titan
Might CCU to a Herald if it winds up being a great scout/recon ship
If I win a big giveaway I'm melting for a Cat or Starfarer
Really look forward to being a crewman on a Starfarer
Port Olisar is supposed to be abit over 3 kilometres long, so that's two Kingships.
made some ~100 bucks profit doing it.
Did I do the smart thing guys? Will I regret it?
That's a reliant Tana btw.
It's probably the nicest looking multicrew ship aesthetically, and it is exactly the same size and basic design as the Bebop. It's the nearest thing that captures that kind of aesthetic of what people think a spaceship that explores the galaxy should be like.
Maybe if you're fucking high, half blind and squint a little.
The only thing they have in common is that they have big nacelles on the side. Do the Freelancer and the Cutlass look like the Bebop too?
But the bridge is at the front of the ship and not high in the middle? What do you mean deck and door on the top, there's nothing on the top of the ship apart from a hangar door which is on the floor and not at 90 degrees from it like on the Bebop.
And the shape isn't even similar what are you fucking smoking?
How can you even know they're a similar size too?
Actually The Bebop is a bit larger, but other than that its the same overall form. You name me a single other ship that has deck you can walk around on the top with a door like both the Carrack and the Bebop have? The only difference is that door is also the hangar door with Bebop whereas the Carrack has that on the top deck floor.
Honestly? Because the people playing and testing are crybabies who throw a fit every time the game crashes or shows instability.
They have to separate it into PTU and Live so they can give the PTU builds the "unstable piece of shit" disclaimer so the person playing it doesnt mutate into derek smart after the first ctd.
Would the validity of Ted Cruz's ability to become president only need to take place after election, and if so, what would happen if the Supreme Court denies to verify the wording?
To my knowledge they can just leave it be without doing anything
Because they wanted to let people have a somewhat stable 2.0 and a less stable 2.1 over the holidays.
In general, to allow actual testing of features on the PTU build, and have people playing on the live build.
Is this actually hard to understand, or were you just pretending to be retarded?
>In general, to allow actual testing of features on the PTU build, and have people playing on the live build.
There is only testing atm, nothing has real meaning and both are extremely buggy
The relative stability of the two instances doesn't warrant a split
I disagree. Yes, most of the social issues of today stem from that core epidemic, but the popularity of dissenting sentiments are rising just as fast with the proofs of the end results.
With moderates now being open to anti-immigrant ideals, I feel it's now apparent that the problem wasn't that everyone was simply self-cucking, but that the non-vocal majority had no benefit on opposing these toxic ideals.
This is the core reason why Trump will win.
>at this moment
That is why I said 'in general'. As in, at all other times than now, shortly after the holidays.
At this moment, it is because they wanted to let people have a somewhat stable 2.0 and a less stable 2.1 with new shit over the holidays.
Is that so hard to understand, or are you still pretending to be retarded?
We know you posted your hangar /scg/ but what will be that endgame ship you're set to get ingame after countless hours of grind.
Then why don't you head over to RSI and tell the people there about your concern over the split between 2.0 and 2.1 on the PTU, I'm sure they'll be happy to hear all about it.
I'm going to be smuggling space crack in my connie with my tevarin copilot. Stacking my cargohold with fat stacks of UEE credits.
There is no endgame. except for the one in SQ42 when you make some big play against the Vanduul and halt their advance.
When my drug cartel is galaxy spanning and there is a joint task force between the Xian and UEE to take me down, that'll be my end game.
But they do share exactly the same function (as something to walk around and launch ships off).
> and is barely big enough to qualify as a deck)
Oh you are literally retarded, why didn't you just say?
For the people that kept insisting they just changed the loadout and not the ship's mounts, the Freelancer officially has S3 hard-points on the turrets. Still handles too similarly to the larger and better in every way Constellation to justify it's tiny cargo hold. Still hasn't had the view adjusted.
I genuinely don't want to own any of the larger ships. I'd be happy just flying some reworked version of the Cutlass Blue that's not total ass and doing high risk smuggling runs.
I feel like you have some beef with the disabled for some reason
Most likely a Constellation exploring new systems and finding hidden artifacts while lurking in abandoned space stations facing off alien horrors.
I'm a System Shock and Alien Isolation fanboy
Have they said anything about when to release 3.0?
Late summer? Christmas? Late 2017?
Somewhat less ugly now but that might be because the picture isn't yellow
>not all ships have a game package though which prevents you from upgrading to the larger ships
that's wrong though.
You can upgrade to anything from anything, as long as what you're upgrading to is available and costs the same or more.
I'm with this guy, people that share opinions similar to >>128006137 are retarded, and Cowboy Bebop was a shit series anyway in which every god-damned episode starts in a fucking bar.
It's nothing like the Bebop, except maybe size. We will see more utility out of the Carrack than an overrated sci-fi anime's ship
unless you're talking about LoGH, mother fuckers.
>freelancer isn't allowed to be inferior to a ship that cost 100 dollars more, shares its multirole function, and costs more in-universe
I'm so glad you retards voluntarily confine yourselves to places like /scg/ where no dev will ever read your shitty opinions.
The show is hella overrated but has fucking 10/10 ship design. The Bebop is pretty similar to the Carrack in some ways (the top deck thing), the overall shape and size etc but it has a very different bridge.
At least you are 100% right about LOGH. Fucking GOAT.
I've noticed that when Chris does the "10 for the Chairman" episodes, he ALWAYS uses words like "maybe, could, perhaps" in front of all statements that he makes about features.
It's almost like they don't have an actual plan and he just says whatever he wants in order to appease the question.
Well it's more that 90% of the questions are "Hey will this cool feature I made up be in it?" and he doesn't want to outright say its a terrible idea for the bad ones, or guarantee that the good ones will be in, so he goes for the diplomatic response.
10ftC is just Chris avoiding the question as much as possible, I stopped watching a long time ago because there was a lot of repeat questions and that goon Beer kept appearing.
OPM is a weird one, the manga was super popular with /a/ and was pretty much universally liked for being slightly subversive of its genre's tropes and funny, then an anime gets made and goes MEGA FUCKING viral and mainstream and ...you can work out the rest.
>Its justified that the Connie handles the same as a smaller ship that holds less than half the cargo because it costs way more.
>walk into a car dealership
>"excuse me mr. salesperson, I was looking at your vehicles and two of them caught my eye. one was a used piece of shit from the early 90s that was cheap when it was new, and the other is a brand new full size pickup truck."
>"The truck is much bigger, and holds much more cargo, but doesn't handle any worse than the piece of shit. It's better in every way but costs way more. THIS ISN'T FAIR. I DEMAND YOU AND REALITY JUSTIFY YOURSELVES TO ME"
>salesperson just looks at you
>"Get the fuck out weeb faggot and take your anime reaction images with you back to reddit."
Everything will be able to spin around, the only thing that may change is if they have to decouple.
Everything has enough thrust all over to do high (100m/s+) speed turns, and turns take a lot more thrust than a spin.
Ships relying on armor and DPS will always be the best under CIG's claimed goals.
That means hornets & vanguards. Everything else built on gimmicks like stealth or agility are memeships
They're already butthurt because the ship has been lowered to 155 m/s on the ptu. Even though that's basically the speed everyone expected it to be before 2.0
Not to mention, while other ships owners are bitching about not being able to fight one damn ship, conniefags keep complaining about how they can't defeat three hornets at once.
>conniefags keep complaining about how they can't defeat three hornets at once.
I kept telling them Chris was talking about stock F7Cs when he made this comment, but nobody listened to me.
Still not convinced the anti-fighter vanguard will be worth a shit. It will probably be fast but, clumsy and easy to hit. If it doesn't cripple something in an alpha strike it's toast. Seems like the torpedo boat and ewar variants will be much more viable in the long run.
Last mention of it we have is RtV Ep73
"they are still intending for it to be three hornets against a Connie. They’ll take lots of damage too. For a Tali, it’s three hornets, and one of those hornets is dead."
But I don't know how you can know Chris specifically meant one single loadout for an F7C.
My co-pilot and waifu
>anyone here checked this shit out?
>fucking lol @ the inflated sense self importance of this faggot
>wooden floor on a ship
>chair not bolted to floor
enjoy seeing your overpriced whore being thrown around the bridge and wooden splinters lodging in that airbrushed face when attacked.
>Having a multiple-paragraph email conversation with CS about the state of the project, after complaining about how long they were taking to respond to tickets
Gee I wonder why they're bogged down
>muh internet identity
that's why. he spent so long building up this rep for being a pillar of the community to the point where he thought he could do or say anything. then when he found out he couldn't he threw a hissy fit on his own forums and via CS tickets.
At least we found out fag4thefaggods first name is kevin
Now go look in the SomethingAwful thread.
They're fucking obsessed with hating the game, it's like if we spent day after day in generals for games we despise.
It's understandable for Derek Smart because he doesn't want competition/humiliation, but the rest of them are fucking weird.
or he's ban evading, because everytime he posts the image it's a shitpost and not on-topic. regardless if he reposts it a second time to seem on-topic.
basically, fuck off kwa.
Probably because it's the same shitter from KWA who shitposts and then complains when his posts gets deleted.
At this point he's probably just ban evading and just too predictable to get away with it.
And all that started because he was pissed off by how shitty the cutlass was...
well that's fair enough, it is shit and nothing like what it was supposed to be. i guess he thought since so many other citizens were shitty @ ben for completely fucking the ship up and supported his views, he was the voice of the people for everything sc-related.
lol @ him finding out the had way he wasn't
>supposed to be.
Now bow, it's probably supposed to be shit, because Ben "fuck pirates" lesnick is directing ships.
The problem is it was sold as being agile, able to fight then loot
Everything seems pretty stable, the only question is if they're planning on adding anything else or doing more work on the Freelancer before going to live. I wouldn't think they'd push the ship out the door with out even a radar ball.
I want to help crew one of these at least once just to check out those jungle bubbles
>it isn't like you're going to be jumped by Hornets every single day
Anyone here with Subscriber forum so they can ask a question for us?
Please ask if weapon damage is going to use caliber as the base variable with other variables being modifiers to that original value.
For example: Will 10mm have a set damage value set in stone with the damage difference between a 10mm pistol and 10mm rifle coming from other variables like barrel length?
People will be (somewhat rightfully) very pissed off if he promises something or says something directly will be in the game and they wind up not being able to implement it.
I just asked Lando a question on StarCast and he said "It doesn't go against our vision for the game"
ctrl+f "Internal Development"
If you want it to be.
I don't have the comfy beta image
>derelict ships and stations can have xenomorphs in them
>reclaimer or carrack pulls up to investigate
>ship is taken over, crew murdered
>floating, expanding graveyard of deathtraps pinging people's long range scanners as salvage
>derek is given a soapbox to bitch about the game
>his only vocal supporter is a nigger with a lisp
anytime you you want to leave and smear some prep-h on yourself, just say so. Meanwhile the rest of us will talk about spaceships.
I believe so, check the keymaps
pretty sure it's just print screen.
>Meanwhile the rest of us will talk about spaceships.
It was a video on derek. Nothing to do with spaceships.
no trading or massive universe
I bought SC back in October 2012 only after confirming that it was going to have on-foot gameplay and combat
ED not having it makes it undesirable to me, the Horizons pricing makes me think waiting until they are totally done with Dangerous to buy is the best bet
I thought Star Citizen wasn't aiming for a massive universe. Which isn't a bad thing, as the universe in E:D is incredibly repetitive. Also, I would suggest waiting until the expansion you want is out, as they're looking to be putting out an expansion each year that they're selling.
Yeah I spent $70 US or something on ED, full of regret.
It was fun for about 12 hours of gameplay and then it was just grinding. No depth to the gameplay mechanics at all.
And Horizons price is just a kick in the groin while I'm down.
I just want a game where I can fly a ship, build my wealth and power and then use that power to sway faction balance in a solar system (or take out the factions entirely and leave it in anarchy). Whether it's first person or not, at this point I'm bored enough that I don't care.
The SC universe will still be big, not like ED though, they're going for stories and characters with writing for each system instead of just <infinity number of systems that are fairly boring
SC having FPS combat at least told be there would be value just playing it as an interesting FPS game if the rest is all shit
Really look forward to being on a Starfarer crew because that ship looks cool, not a big fan of space combat t.b.h. even less so now that they are making gimbals suck
As a a top pilto. I actually feel missiles are i na very good plce atm, they are a tool for causing a "break" i nengagement, they force you or your opponent (whomever is reciving a missile lo0ck and missiles in air) to deal with the missile through manouvering and flare/chaff spam to avoid being hit. Equally if you are hammering somone releasing a few "Suprise!" missiles on them during close knife githing or general longrange supression, can and i emphasise "CAN" give you the neccessary damage to end them.
tl:dr - missiles are easily avoiaded, but when you are under duress the stress can cause you to still get hit.
Yeah I know, but this still looks like it will have more in depth universe and mechanics than ED.
My dream game will never be realised, except maybe by Egosoft's next game (assuming they don't pull X Rebirth 2 out of their ass).
Not even EVE, since solo players and small groups wield literally no power in the universe.
The multiplayer/MMO craze is literally the worst thing to happen to space vidya.
Because a lot of integral sci-fi writing happened after the FBI switched to 10mm which was quickly found to be to powerful so it was necked down to .40 SW and 10mm became pretty much the same as nuclear powered gadgets - antiquated and impracticable so perfect for sci-fi writings of alternate history
>still no AK's planned for SC
JFMSUF, we can't have just Halo guns
>jetpack unlocked for backer stretchgoal
>"JK we meant EVA suit"
they'll start off with some cool design and then end up tacticooling it up before launch
I'd be okay with this.
Also jury-rigged size 1/2 ship guns supported by Titan suits please
would be sick to be able to fire the same missiles used in ships from shoulder mounted launchers
nah he's pretty up front on what is DEFINITELY going to be in the game. He uhhms and ahhs in that case because he doesn't want to tell you a date that the feature will be in because it'll inevitably be wrong. When he says " we might consider doing that" that means no.
Apparently, this is the most recent Herald model.
They really hate Drake, don't they?
looks the same as always, i hope it has an ultra high super cruise top speed because the fucking engine the size of the ship is pretty stupid with how top speeds are handled right now
One of the stories has a Banuaboo and one has a guy who can tell the difference between Xi'an men and women and knows how to say "thank you, m'lady" in their weird turtle language
Space is a replacement for water, obviously
Maybe if Tevarin turn out to be giant rats
There are a number of Xi'an expats who live in the UEE because they couldn't stand living in the Turtle Empire anymore
I'm sure more than a few of them are overly fond of human things
It would be, if Hornjews weren't stealing our women and selling them into prostitution and sexual slavery
It's actually an over-evolved and misplaced nose, the result of them being too Jewish for simple cartilage to support their nasal growth
Is that OC in a SC thread wtf
That's ancient as far as SC content goes
You could always roleplay as a space geman who took the ship at gun point from some bloated banu trader who you caught enslaving human women.
>roleplay as a space geman who took the ship at gun point from some bloated banu trader who you caught enslaving human women.
Stick around if you want to be a crewman on an Endeavor. Chances are, you'll be picked up and given UEC for your help. Hell, even I wouldn't mind having people on my Endeavor to help make narcotics.
Am I the only one planning on modding/cheating on a private universe so that I can multiply the payouts by fucktons and fly awesome ships all by myself or with a few friends?
inb4 they cut modding
>LOOL I cheated myself a gazillion UEC
>LOOL I have the biggest baddest ship that can oneshot everything
>LOOL there is nothing left to do
>LOOL I'm gonna go play Fallout on my Xbox because it doesn't allow me to cheat
pretty xD m8
I'd rather try all the ships in a few weeks than spend months grinding and not even be half way.
And they're pushing the MMO side of the game pretty hard so you know the progression is going to be snail's pace like Elite Dangerous rather than decent progression like the X games, Freelancer, etc.
It wasn't hard to get out of your starting ship, and in no time you're building your own fleet, setting up manufacturing facilities and setting up satellites.
Are you one of those cucks who wants Star Citizen to be EVE 2.0, where you have to treat it as a second job, and a single player has no power whatsoever?
Oh I'm posting in a SC thread, of course you want that.
When did games stop being about fun and become masochistic life simulators for neckbeards to dedicate their time to and feel successful because they can't achieve anything of value IRL?
I won't be modding but I hope CR and the rest don't make SC full of grinding to make the $1000+ backers with all the high end ships happy.
I want a space sim where I can recreate my own Firefly, or Milennium Falcon stories, or hell, even Battlestar Galactica.
Please Chris, don't make this Euro Truck sim in space like Elite Dangerous became.
So what does CIG plant to sell next?
Any big changes coming soon in the PU?
Somewhere around the time ultima online started
>resorting to strawman
Never change, /scg/
I really don't get it. I grew up reading sci fi novels about awesome space adventures, smugglers with ships that had hulls falling apart, standoffs between capital ships and hectic dogfights between fighters.
But these days all anyone seems to care about is doing taxes in space.
So yeah, I'm pissed off because the most vocal part of the fanbase want to emphasise boring analogs to real life chores to the detriment of interesting parts of sci-fi like combat and exploration.
Next jpeg sale might be the prowler unless they pull another brand new ship out of their ass like the sabre.
Supposedly, next big game things will be working stores, npcs, and the nyx system
On one side, what everybody seems to forget or not see or even want to acknowledge is that CIG ain't selling ships.
They are given as rewards for funding the development of the game.
But on the other side this can actually be seen as selling ships since then other "stores, shops, car dealers etc..." can just say the same when a customer gives them money and then get something in return as a reward.
So what do people think? Do you see it as a reward for funding a game-developer or plain ship buying?
>I don't grasp the simple concept that a dangerous/exciting situation loses its merit when there's nothing at stake/everything that's at stake can be replaced easily
EVE Valkyrie is right around the corner anon
>So yeah, I'm pissed off because the most vocal part of the fanbase want to emphasise boring analogs to real life chores to the detriment of interesting parts of sci-fi like combat and exploration.
The good thing is that Chris doesn't really care what they want. What he wants is basically closer to what 4chan wants in the PU (pvp, espionage, org wars, etc)
Sweet, I can't wait to see the Tevarin aesthetic
It started out as rewards, but now it's just plain ship buying.
w a t ?
Just because I don't want months of grinding to progress from one ship to the next, means that I can't grasp that concept?
Maybe you can't grasp the concept that something can still be exciting and dangerous when there's only hours of gameplay at stake, rather than days, weeks, or months.
Hell, playing games like Freespace, it was still exciting and fun even though the only thing at stake was an hour or less!
But players DO have no power, the economy is over half NPC AT LEAST
I hope they actually include some unique feature in the Prowler, like the Xi'an thrusters, and we still don't know if they have actually made anything like that for the MM which was the first alien ship
X games have historically abhorrent pacing, trading itself requires a slow as fuck transport ship that takes forever to get anything done, and still needs hundreds of hauls to afford anything worthwhile.
That's why they added shit like the abandoned ships worth millions, or the mission system that can be easily abused for tens of millions of credits.
Or why one of the most popular X2 mods, which was also made official in X3, was an automated AI trader.
You're a fucking retard to take these games as a good example of pacing.
>I hope they actually include some unique feature in the Prowler, like the Xi'an thrusters, and we still don't know if they have actually made anything like that for the MM which was the first alien ship
iirc the tevarin was the first civilization encountered by the UEE that had floating cities, so they probably have some neat vtol tech of their own. Not sure how it would play into the prowler though. The thing about the prowler that we know so far is that it has a big emphasis on stealth so that you can quietly board an enemy vessel.
As opposed to EVE/Elite pacing?
At least you COULD automate your trading to do the boring shit for you in X3.
Nice job calling me a retard because I prefer that shit automated (though ideally they'd make the progression not need that in the first place) than have to personally trade for hours on end to progress.
>But players DO have no power, the economy is over half NPC AT LEAST
Still better than Elite Dangerous, where the only ones with power are the developers. Seriously, find the thread on the ED forums where a guy tested the background simulation for months. Fuck all could be achieved.
>At least you COULD automate your trading to do the boring shit for you in X3.
And it'd only become viable after hundreds of hours of boring spacetrucking. Every single beginner's guide I can find that doesn't involve the abovementioned abandoned ships looks like it takes hundreds of hours to get anywhere.
And I'm calling you a retard for calling that "decent progression", nothing else.
Ok, I found what I was talking about. It wasn't actually floating cities but planetary defense systems
It only takes you an evening of trading e-cells in argon space to get your first jump drive, software and extra freighters for automated trading. Or you can abuse the nvidium bug in teladi space to give you a little boost.
I mean, Crusader kind of counts as floating city.
What's wrong with the abandoned ships anyway?
Also even if those abandoned ships weren't, you're stuck with hundreds of hours of space trucking which you can AUTOMATE. Unlike Elite where you have hundreds of hours of space trucking which you CAN'T. It's that simple.
Again, by saying X3's progression was shit you imply that the alternatives (like Elite Dangerous) are better. Which they're not. Freelancer may have been, it's been too long since I played.
It may be a case where X3 is simply the least shit of the lot, but that still makes it better than the rest. Calling me a retard because of that is just plain dumb. It's decent in comparison to the others. Did I really have to spell that out to you, or are you purposely triggering me?
There is just something unspeakably comfy about slowly building up an automated space trading empire in that game, the first little transport you have doing independent runs set up, and then your first factory, etc. I played up until the point where I got my first cap ship, then I didn't really know where to go from there.
SC economy is gonna be 90% npc drivern.
This =/= players have NO power.
But players ability to effect the global "universal" economy is very small. Player's ability in groups to affect local economies should be greater, ie blockading a planet could influence local system prices, temporarily.
Why do people think this ship looks bad? I mean, I'm definitely never going to buy it since it has no use, but am I the only one who adores the raised tail and unique engine design?
>unique engine design
There's unique, and then there's implausible
Not to mention the "shield generators" look retarded and probably won't fit with in lore shield generators and it doesn't look like an Aegis ship although you could say that of most ships in the contest
People are really concerned about implausible technology and design in scifi? But I get the thing about the shield generators, although I dont thik they really look that bad if you disregard "lore".
Also the generators doesn't look that distracting ingame as on the concept art.
Yeah I like taking it slow in the X games. I often quit after getting cap ships, but a bunch of times I did build fleets or large trade empires.
Yeah I dunno where this stuff about economy came from. I don't care about influencing economy so much as being able to make lods of emone by having my own trading empire (which I don't think will be possible in SC anyway). Influencing faction balance in systems is a big thing for me too, again, not possible in SC since it's more of a single-player game mechanic.
The biggest points for me to be able to enjoy the game though are:
>Are the game mechanics in depth enough for me to enjoy "low level" gameplay like being a sole trader with a medium size freighter
>Is there more progression to the game rather than just endlessly climbing the ship size ladder
>Can I interact with NPC factions (like sign up to be a system authority enforcer, or fly a freighter for a trade company, and then climb the ranks in these organisations for salary or other bonuses)
>Can I interact with individual NPCs (hire them, demand their cargo, offer protection, receive missions)
>Can I progress, whether towards ship upgrades or up faction ranks, etc, at a decent rate even as a solo or small group (2-4 people) player?
I'm all for including stuff for people who love joining big faceless groups like 4chan organisations, Goonsquad, leddit armies, etc, but as a primarily solo and duo oriented player I need gameplay to be fun and rewarding for the little guy too.
Same thing with space trucking, it has a huge following (for some reason), but Elite Dangerous overdoes it to the point it's by far the best way to get money. I don't mind trading in the early game but I mainly want to fight. Yeah, make trading profitable, just don't make it so profitable that it's the only way to progress (because Elite bases all the ship prices off the profit you can make by trading).
>>>Is there more progression to the game rather than just endlessly climbing the ship size ladder
>>Can I interact with NPC factions (like sign up to be a system authority enforcer, or fly a freighter for a trade company, and then climb the ranks in these organisations for salary or other bonuses)
No to both of these
Hopefully it'll get a kit bash makeover using parts from REAL Aegis ships and then it will look
Dan should really start up an sc org.
I'd join it.
mfw I dreamt that I had a Thrustmaster Warthog setup at my desk and then I wake up and see my old shitty Saitek X45 craptastic extravaganza.
In Norway you'll be asked about alcohol on all job interviews.
If you don't drink and/or have a problem with alcohol. You will most likely not get the job.
Yes, alcohol is a very important part of Norwegian customs.
Exactly. The stories aren't about some guy or a bunch of people running trade routes for weeks, they're about fun stuff, like shooting other ships, evading other ships and causing a ruckus in space bars.
well CR has always said "it shouldn't be a 'grind' because the game should be fun' but we have yet to see if that is even a plausible goal; there have been games that I loved to play and had fun doing so and I still considered the ones with a steeper rate to have a grind. and people who are bad at making their own fun will always accuse it of being grindy anyways.
So that does that mean you guys drink stuff like this since the EU is now a caliphate?
