/v/lancer was fun, but was ridiculously unstable
Shame its no longer supported and the author moved on to other stuff, it would have been nice to see some of the stuff in that in star citizen
He will always be this guy
Wait so on PTU I'm stuck with the ships that I've bought?
That's kinda shitty if so. Sorta like "yeah you can play alpha but your contribution isn't good enough"
With looking at the 10 first posts of this general, I can tell how dead slow this game is being developed.
Fuck, I don't even know if CIG is off break yet due to their last AtV having content anf intrviews from mid-December.
What, you had to look at the general to realize that?
That would depend on when you're going to get one, I'm personally waiting for Pascal so I can also use it for other games
Considering for the last 3 months I've managed to blow my monthly pay way too early and this month I need to pay for a new car and insurance, a realistic answer would be within the next 6 months.
But I lack self control and will probably end up getting one either as soon as I get paid in 2 weeks or the month after that.
it's only ded due to the instability that tires people of having to restart, crawl out of their bunk, go downstairs and call in their ship every 10 - 15 minutes. I'd be playing it right now if I thought I could get anything done before crashing, but I have no such expectations.
>tfw people will be emotionally invested in this game's development for years and then the inevitability of imperfection will hit them like a train and they will be kill
Normal games used to be hinted at, and then a few years later you'd see their marketing and promotion, so you could be excited before the game comes out in 1-2 months.
But now it's kickstarter shit where they drum up communities years before the game even comes out and then when it does, the game flops because it doesn't meet anyone's expectations.
Last game I was hyped for on /vg/ was Guild Wars 2 and I can't even stomach to install the game again, let alone play it.
That's the direct consequence of having pretty much the most open development for a game that is not some tiny indie shit. Hence people bitch about it the whole time, especially given that EVERYTHING had to be built for it.
I remember when he joined. We all made fun of him and made plans on stealing his ships, along with other generic bullying.
>join an org with several expensive ships without even jumping on to coms to find out whether or not they are furry goon autists.
Do you think that chris roberts ever feels bad about taking ~100 million dollars from rubes like you?
I think he might, but he enjoys his literal mansion too much for his conscience to ever actually get a foothold.
I've only recently started paying attention to this game again, but if/when it comes out all Ireally want is a ship for forcefully penetrating/boarding other ships/stations (Derelict or active.)
I assume it would need some decent armaments, room for the people, decent speed/armor and I guess sensor equipment to actually find them.
The Cutlass seemed like a good choice but is getting redone. Do you think it would still be viable, what other ships might work?
>forcefully penetrating other ships
Here you go.
Don't listen to this retard
If you wanted a ship that's small with a docking collar with decent guns and space for soldiers, currently the only other option would be the Redeemer aside from the memes. Considering its size it shouldn't be too slow and it has quite a bit of guns ever since people bitched a while back.
>board an active javelin or bengal with an Idris
If you want your frigate to get rekt almost instantly, sure.
Frigates in SC are not boarding craft you tard. It's basically a mini carrier that can hold 3 ships, has an STS turret, some regular turrets, and missile turrets. I can't imagine how you would possible board another ship with the Idris.
If you mean what other ships can be boarded at all, it would be any ship that has a top docking collar.
That was my other choice, but pricier and uglier. I probably won't be spending any money on it until it makes it to beta though, so I've got plenty of time to decide.
Still just flavor text isn't it?
The prowler currently is just flavor text. Apparently we'll be getting 1 or 2 more TNGS ships (probably the scimitar) so you can always wait for those. The scimitar, in my opinion, has the best functionality for a boarding ship. It's exterior needs work, but it may end up being better than the redeemer function-wise.
they rework the looks of the cutlass but don't change any of its stats, than it would still be garbo. No amount of aesthetic adjustment will fix a ship that just performs horribly. I could be wrong and they could change some stats, but if they wanted to do that they would have already.
I can't recall that we ever saw any kind of honest balancing between ships so far, that will be another field CIG have to prove themselves on. Just let's pray that Ben dies and won't have any say in that
The Cutlass is the Nodar Kumaritashvili of spacecraft. It goes reasonably fast but if you hit a bad turn you spin out of control and fold in half. The Redeemer or Caterpillar are better choices for boarding parties.
Freelancer MIS was initial pledge but I have SH and gladiator CCUs if it doesn't work out.
Mustang Delta with Reliant Tana CCU when it gets flyable.
Avenger Titan is an LTI token.
>NPC crews are autistic
Assume a situation where I had no friends. I would always choose to pay some basic AI to crew turrets and other things than have some real randoms in a loosely constructed org that can kill me and take my shit. That's if you have no friends.
Now if you do have friends willing to play, who the fuck is going to want to sit staring at a screen with shield values flickering up and down? Who's going to want to be in some weak-ass turret trying to hit other vehicles flying around you, often missing all shots? The answer is that not many people are going to want to do those things anyway when they could be flying their own ship as support.
Just bought a $3500 PC.
Didnt spend a single dime on SC.
You're going to get ragged on for wasting money when you could have built a PC but please remember that advice on how to spend your money is best found anywhere except the thread based around buying and discussing jpegs of ships in an unreleased game.
Patrician ship choice. Not sure how wise building a top of the line rig is before Pascal architecture comes out, but there will always be new tech "just around the corner" so I don't think it's too much of a big deal.
I did a M-ATX build with only SSD's and full custom water cooling loop on both CPU and GPU.
Pascal will maybe launch this summer, but a Pascal card that can be even compared to a Titan X or a 980Ti wont be launched until late this year.
The thing is that I know I can easly sell the 980Ti to friends since Pascall wont be as powerful as Nvidia says.
A little bit of something for every occasion.
Okay, I'll leave just because you told me to. You'll never see me, Anonymous Poster, again.
New to what exactly? Posting in a thread for an unreleased game?
>try not to meme too hard
So who's gonna lead their org now that Beer has fucked off along with those two other faggots, Dusy and Loonie?
If it's Anders, then el oh el
Because I like those ships. And the second endeavor was just my starter constellation I upgraded because my friend was depressed they couldn't afford an endeavor to be a medical ship, so I'm gonna let them have full run of it to cheer them up.
>Robbing a 'friend' of progression, gameplay, and that amazing feeling when they actually finally manage to afford an Endeavor in-game
>Cheapening the experience to "You've got it now!"
>Enabling someone that got depressed over a video game rather than helping them with their obvious issues
Actually we have an org of just friends that's been going a few years now, it's monday afternoon and we got a small group of 10 hanging out on TS playing together. Couple of them are Euro time, some will be home after work in a little bit.
Does anyone have that Redeemer picture that clearly shows that Four Horseman copied their ship off another game (I think it was a Halo gunship or some other game that their ship looks exactly alike to).
I wish he still did, then every time some sperg starts waifu-ing some remotely cute CIG employee I can just remind them that Dan the Man already pounded that nerdgirl, daddy-o.
there was a revolt against him at RSI and I think he must have been going off a script when he was 'community ambassador' for all of five minutes because he was just way too smooth; here he's a bit awkward and halting; he sounds like a real backer and fan rather than a car salesman.
Nobody here ever really said he didn't deserve working at CIG. We just enjoyed making dank memes out of his lingo, which would have happened anyway if he was kept on.
It was the official forums that didn't want him there.
It's RSI, the forum dads couldn't handle an
averagelooking guy talking about their game.
Now we have Big Ben.
I'd take a semi decent reality tv "celebrity" over Ben "Magician Hands" Lesnick any day.
>Way more wrong with it than the hair straighteners
Mind me asking what else is wrong? I don't have the ship, so I haven't seen how potentially terrible the inside is.
Is it as big of a fucking mess as CIG made it sound like with their review of the ship in AtV?
>$105 million folks
I like how he constantly updates how much they have in his stale bait, as if more people pledging somehow compounds the perceived atrocities they've committed. I suppose never having actually made money off any of his projects, he can only imagine how proper funding might positively impact development, much like any other armchair dev.
kek, he is literally an armchair dev.
I've never seen BB, but I'm sure it's terrible.
I just meant Dan seems like an alright dude.
>tries to pretend
maybe if they cared enough to do any quality control whatsoever he wouldn't still be listed as one of the earliest joining members and in good standing on their org page.
yeah, I'd rather they change the tail fin so it looks less like a fucking killer whale. The god awful bottom turret design. Also combining the cargo hold and drop ship module into one large section seems like a more sensible design than having them spread out in different parts of the ship.
Still has a better interior than the vanguard and retaliator though.
it's because you don't have a janny on the board, kong friend.
I'm being serious here: If the game developers can't even manage something basic like their own health, then how can they be trusted with that 100 million?
In the future we will solve obesity by colonizing low gravity planets and giving everyone CPAPs.
100 million well spent!
I was strictly referring to 2D, because in that instance I know full well it's a cheap trick to make the character 'unique', ironically so overplayed that it's become a calling card of low effort moeshittery. The same applies to that potential snowflake if she's wearing a contact lens.
but if it's natural that's 10/10
First off, stop being butthurt someone took a video of a bug.
Secondly, are we talking real alphas or unfinished / extremely buggy releases? Because thats currently industry standard for releases. Not rare at all.
>how does it feel to be the reason public alphas are almost nonexistent today?
Oh no how terrible, public alphas are nonexistant! The game industry could do with more of these: http://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/
not at all butthurt about the bug, it's just irritating when somebody takes a funny video of something broken and some retard comes along and holds it up like evidence of some gross and telling incompetence.
and I'm talking about real alphas of unfinished projects from yesteryear, as opposed to the modern 'open beta' that's nothing more than a server stress test and hype building demo of mostly finished projects.
incomplete DICE garbage being released is a whole other stack of industry shit.
