Yes, it's revealed that Mai's father did care for his child to an extent and the real reason he sent her away under a fake name was that she could have the opportunity to live a life free of the burdens of being the head of a duodecim family. (Though Mai is still the heir since the characters still refer to her as such; she hasn't officially changed her name or been formally disinherited.)

That doesn't make him a good father though; the way he handed it was extremely traumatic to Mai. And he did send an assassin after her, reasoning that if she did not have the strength to defeat the assassin that she would end up living like a regular NOL soldier and dying miserable death and that therefore it would have been better for Mai to have died right then.

I watched every Makoto match in CF on the internet but I've only seen the new move used a few times. Many people had trouble following it up with a combo and other people avoided it by jumping or reacting. I guess it's not that good.

In general pick whoever you like because you'll figure it out, but the beginner charaters everyone always recommends are Ragna, Jin, Noel, and Celica because they're all straightforward. I think Bullet and Lambda are also quite nice because their combos aren't too hard and you can learn them quickly.

I've only briefly played CT with a keyboard, but Jin seemed by far the easiest of anyone to use.

How hard is Hazama? Favourite character, but I have no fighting game experience and he looks complicated

How likely is this theory atm? It would explain why Relius kidnapped Saya Terumi, Saya's relationship to Saya Terumi, who Izanami is and why she's so powerful, the origins of Saya and Ragna (maybe he's a failed Saya clone, hence making them "siblings" in the same way the murakumos are). There is one huge hole (Jin), though Jin was a hole to begin with given that he was in the same lab as Ragna and Saya and yet doesn't share the chest mark thing.

Oh yeah, and why the fuck does Naoto have a really big mark on his chest like Ragna? Why is the same mark on Minerva? Why the hell is it on Spinner's tongue? I'm confused.

Another thing, Mai does not have the ability to even fight most of the cast at all, Hibiki needs those illusions, Makoto needs her strength and Bullet needs her ars magus, just because Mai has a grimiore doesn't make her powerful,she couldn't even defeat Seifer at her best and someone almost died because of her failure. Midly enhanced strength doesn't mean much against people who can cut towers with ease or leave large craters in their wake even when it's clear they are holding back still. I don't think I really learned anything about how the world was in the days of the Dark War, other than the fact that for some reason there were JRPG villages and ships that still went from some undisclosed mainland country to ravaged Japan, which is forest and not a radioactive hole in the ground. I think. It was mainly just backstory to establish Celica as important. And for some reason they had to do it twice, which took up a third of the segment that is normally used for lore.

Phase Shift is a paradox itself. Ragna from CP being their doesn't make sense if it's a close-loop time paradox. Since that means their already exists a time-line in which Ragna was already freed from being thrown back in time by Nu to become the Black Beast. When Mai fought Seifer she had just fully fused with the Nameless Grimoire and had practically no experience using it. Plus, she was just a student with relatively little combat experience. Give her another 3-4 years honing her combat and grimoire usage skills and she'd be much better. The CPE library says she's a powerful warrior; she won't be at the level of beings that can rewrite reality with their thoughts, but she's still relatively strong. And Seifer was relatively powerful even if Relius dismissed him as being insignificant to him. Don't forget that Relius is the guy that was willing to take on Jubei and could beat up Valk; someone that can fight and win against members of the Six Heroes is extremely powerful.

We are never told exactly how powerful Lao Jiu is. And Mai does have a powerful grimoire, whose exact abilities are also vaguely defined. As the other guy said, when characters like Bullet or Hibiki are able to go toe to toe with other members of the roster despite not having any particularly special powers, there's no reason to think that Mai won't be able to do the same. If anything, my guess is that Mai is more powerful than those two.

-Wheel of Fortune in which Noel never survives Tamagahara explosion and Tsubaki is Jin secretary. This is the timeline that keeps on getting loop and leads to Hakumen becoming Jin.

- Now we have the Calamity Trigger timeline in which the loops end because Noel was able to survive that the explosion caused by Tamagahara and save Ragna from diving into the Cauldron by Nu. Which leads to CS and then CP.

The Black Beast always come the previous loop Ragna and Nu. Where the original Black Beast came from before the Ragna and Nu loop began we don't know and probably never will on how humanity originally fought against it. Everything we know of current Blazblue history is based on time-loops change history
