Can we try to avoid the Trisspocalypse this time?
You shouldn't. He's a genocidal rapist.
Yen kills her quicker if you have Geralt refuse
>Letho was right
of course he was. Letho literally did nothing wrong.
>Well I never really thought the romances were a huge impact on the game anyway. I've always viewed them as glorified side quests. How is it cringey though?
Think Star Wars Episode 2. Really sappy and stilted.
NG+ makes things a bit more flexible.
Triss is so happy here while Geralt is gently holding her.
I read The Last Wish, Sword of Destiny and Blood of Elves, currently reading Time of Contempt. I like how Yennefer is written, she's got character, but I don't like her as a person much (yet, maybe later in the books. Maybe).
So I'm on my 2nd playthrough of W3 now and decided to go for Triss this time. I just did a run of W1 and W2, both going for Triss. I like Triss.
But...I just completed Yen's quest of The Last Wish and... ouch. I had to let her down, and it hurt. Like I said, I don't particular like her, I wouldn't stand her to treat me as she treats Geralt. Including during her quest. But it still hurt to tell her there was 'no magic' anymore.
I love this game!
Lets post images of Triss and Yen form TW1...oh wait..
What's going on here?
Should I save her or let her die?
Will she appear later?
>currently reading Time of Contempt.
The most boring and shity book.
Read Season of storms instead
>baptism of fire
>milva is pregnant
>IN NILFGAARD WOMAN ALWAYS GETS TO CHOOSE
>EVEN IN NORTH THE WOMAN ALWAYS CHOOSES
>WHAT KIND OF BARBARIAN WOULD NOT LET A WOMAN CHOOSE AN ABORTION
>ITS THE WOMANS BODY AND EVEN THE VAMPIRE AGREES
I'm pro-choice but fuck this is heavy handed
Should I spare Letho?
I heard he will return in the nest game.
Northern kingdoms are shit and meant to be ruined.
>Should I spare Letho?
Nobody kills my nigga Foltest and gets away with it.
Cedric was a bro too, and that archer from TW2 intro would probably be one as well. So fuck that bald cunt.
I honestly wonder why they went this way since TW1 Triss has so many of Yen's mannerisms/lines. She even has the "raising a source child" Ciri parallel (and the rage if you don't bring the child to her, just like how Yen sarcastically flipped out over Geralt going to Triss first) going on.
TW1 was obviously a broad homage to the books rather than being intended as a full series, but that reinforces why it could have been Yen since the reasons she was gone aren't brought in until TW2.
I also wondered this, if they are such huge book fans, why leave out two important characters like Yen and Ciri. I guess they wanted to distance themselves from the stories of the books, and start something original, and I get why they chose Triss, since she was always obsessed with Geralt, but Yen could have been introduced earlier, I mean, why not in TW2, they could have made it work somehow.
It was really inevitable. Spamming waifus is just much easier way of keeping thread alive instead of being creative. /wtc/ was actually pretty fun before W3 came out.
I really wish /wtc/ was more like /mbg/.
Basically everything about TW1 was set up in a way that it could mirror canon without actually being canon.
It was only when TW2 started that they went for a cohesive storyline (and why almost nothing from TW1 is referenced in future), and Yen gets brought up as soon as the Prologue is over.
Wow, so they actually give that fag a silver sword if you keep him alive? What's the purpose if he's only murdering people for Nilfgaardian shekels now, and not monsters anymore?
Anyway, why did Viper School witchers even learn dual wielding. CDPR just pulled that out of their ass because they somehow had to explain the "mysterious assassin" from TW1 outro, right? What a shitty writing. We never even learned his identity.
> /wtc/ was actually pretty fun before W3 came out
Very true. There was a half decent discussion last thread at least?
Yeah saying over and over "mines better" is interesting.
Tbqh if CDPR doesn't release any decent modding tool in 6 months (and it's not happening), this general is going to be as dead as Ned Stark. I'm actually surprised that there are still people posting in there.
Modkit is shitty then? I havent bothered to look at it.Thats a let down, i thought the only reason we didnt have many mods was people were just lazy.
Have they talked about different tools at all? I figured what we have is what we get.
Honestly, without waifus, this thread would be pretty dead. CDPR obviously created top quality waifus and even months after release people still repeat the same shit over and over. Blah blah..Yen's a bitch, Triss is a manipulative cunt, yadda yadda yadda. I hope they learn their lesson and tone down on waifus for Cyberpunk, or maybe the opposite happens and Cyberpunk becomes the ultimate waifu simulator.
Sure he can. I don't think Nilfgaad holds any ill will against him. Most people dont know what he looks like and that he was the assassin either. Geralt was blamed and then he cleared his own name but as far as i know there wasn't wanted posted around of Letho's face.
Even if there was, he can just go elsewhere, the world is massive. And in the game he's getting revenge if i remember correctly.
Damn I chose Roche's path all the way. What happened with Saskia? What with Philippa?
Jesus fuck im in rage. They didn't even show me Ciri. What's with Iorveth? Fuck this game. I dunno if I even did errythin right :/
Fuck sake CDPR. I love to defend them as a great company and back during TW2 days they were exactly that. Come good on promises, great content releases, good interaction with the community.
These days they just break promises and don't give a fuck about it.
Tbqh downgrade and giving up on Redkit 2 are the only things they did wrong. And it's really hard to blame them, you have to resign from something if you got too ambitious.
Still, a dick move from their side.
Nobody in the north knows who he is except for the Lodge (scattered) and the Scoia'Tael (also fucked). Emhyr wants him dead, but that's why he's chilling in the north until he finds somewhere else to go.
He just goes back on the Path m8. Geralt also spent some time murdering people for Temerian shekels, it doesn't change who he is, just his own fault for getting caught in the politics.
To be fair they probably just looked at redkit for TW2 and decided that the amount of time and effort that went into it wasn't worth the benefit that people got out of it. Although I wish they had released it for TW3 within a couple months of release to catch as many modders as possible.
The guys who want to kill him when you meet him are working for Emhyr.
>Nobody in the north knows who he is except for the Lodge
If you help Roche or Iorveth in Loc Muinne, he gets exposed in front of all Northern Monarchs and mages.
>Geralt also spent some time murdering people for Temerian shekels
If you really see no difference between being a soldier/king's bodyguard and being a hired assassin/kingslayer, there is really no point in discussion.
>If you help Roche or Iorveth in Loc Muinne, he gets exposed in front of all Northern Monarchs and mages.
So... just Radovid, then, since by TW3 he's the only person on that entire list with actual power.
>If you really see no difference
How are you this dense? Both were doing what they were ordered to by a monarch with power over them. Both had to kill. Neither based their life around it. Letho's role was crueler, but has still probably killed less people than Geralt.
So apparently CDPR is putting out a huge patch that will allow you to customize the color and detail of the sheath for your sword and will also put Yennefer, Ciri, etc back in the game (depending on your ending) after you beat it with new dialogue options, including one that allows you to travel with them after you beat the game. Sounds pretty interesting.
I still didn like my ending tho.
I was supposed to roleplay a witcher and not meddling in this shity games of thrones. I think I'll have to replay those last scenes again - rescue Triss cuz before that I agreed with her to move away together and fuck all this shit.
Also why didn't they give a chance to fight and SPARE Letho? Why should I feel for Geralt he was a pussy just letting him go like that "Ok buy, Letho. "Ah la la I won't fight with you - you'r nice guy although you butched all this people and set me up in grave danger. Bye"
>So... just Radovid, then
Also all the mages who survived. And given that either Radovid or Emhyr end up ruling the entire North (unless you go with Ciri/Dijkstra), Letho is between rock and a hard place.
>Both were doing what they were ordered to by a monarch with power over them
Letho could just give big fuck you to Emhyr after crossing the Yaruga and choose not to murder anyone and keep having a peaceful life in Northern Realms. He choose otherwise.
Geralt was presented no alternative, Foltest would probably order to imprison him in the best case if he refused becoming his bodyguard. And as I said - killing people on the battlefield, and murdering armless ones with cold blood is not comparable by any mean. Letho have crossed the line that not only a witcher, but also a human shouldn't.
>Also why didn't they give a chance to fight and SPARE Letho?
Well would that make sense really? You'd have to stop the fight, have Letho's speech and then spare him, it seems easier to hear him out before hand and then decide.
>Also all the mages who survived.
Oh my, those terrifying individuals who are hiding out from Radovid, have lost all their political prestige, and probably don't give a fuck about a random Nilfgaardian agent in light of an actual invasion
He had a personal reason - to try to establish long-term security for his schoolmates. Are you going to argue Geralt has never killed people to try to help those close to him?
>He had a personal reason - to try to establish long-term security for his schoolmates
Seriously, that's the most retarded excuse and he was even more retarded to believe it in the first place.
Besides, he flat out states that "a good life awaits him" in Nilfgaard, so he admits to doing it for personal gain in the first place. He also didn't show any regret or remorse after facing the slaughter he caused himself.
>Geralt has never killed people to help those close to him
He never murdered anyone armless with cold blood.
I cheated and looked ahead and saw that if I let Triss get tortured she'll forgive me and I'll be able to romance her later, but I don't know if I can let her go through that. Should I just kill them all?
Ok, cool. I really like Triss and can't see her get hurt.
Fuck that fat slav fuck and his """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""treasure""""""""""""""""""""""""""" it's probably just some vodka, a loaf of bread and potatoes
In both case he's fully capable of ensuring the people live, but kills them directly or indirectly to serve his own goals and desires
>Not trusting Triss to go through with her plan and make a willing sacrifice, bonding through the experience
Just played the game through and got the Witcher Ciri ending that I am very content with
but what now?
By completing the game I lost all interest in any side missions
same has happened with dozen of other games that have hundreds of hours of side content but after completing the main story, it just doesnt feel right to continue
it's like your purpose in the world ends along with the completion of the story
even if there were to came DLC's, i probably wouldnt find the will to play those because they aren't affecting anything.
well bollocks, it was a good game doe
there should be a way to prolong the main mission by having some side content you HAVE to do to unlock portions of the main mission
i just feel that majority of the game goes to waste if all you do is main mission
>inb4 "then dont do the main mission"
holy fuck, that's like pausing in middle of a book to do push ups and take a shit
if the story's interesting of course you want to keep going at it, you just cant stop like "ooh this is an interesting part in the main story, better go save that old granny's pan from the house that has nothing to do with what's happening in the world"
Triss wants to prove herself useful to Geralt. You can fight alongside her after you get the information you need, let her have her moment first.
If you're going to be a deluded Trissfag, at least do it right man
In both of these cases he is attacked first. Also, if you haven't noticed, a lot of things are different in the first novel, before Sapkowski decided to expand his universum. Witchers are described as new proffession, and Geralt is much colder.
Seriously, Letho apologists are worse than Hitler apologists. Hitler actually never murdered anyone by himself.
Also, how are the expansions? Haven't played TW3 since release (took 2 weeks off work to finish it, 300 hours or so, every POI, etc.), I heard one of them got really good reviews, although the pirate setting (at least from the trailer) didn't really interest me.
Why does the crafting system sucks so much in W3? It can't be that hard to make a craft menu that doesn't require fuckton of scrolling to get to the designated thing. Like, what is a search function? And it would be also nice to know in game which materials can be crafted into which or at least in what you could break them up into WITHOUT the need of sucking a blacksmith's smelly balls.
Stennis mentions her in TW2 iirc. When Roche & co sell out Lyria and Rivia to Emhyr in TW3 I don't see her accepting that without a fight, so she'll probably end up dying unless you side with Dijkstra or let Radovid win.
>qter than other waifus
Say what? Time of Contempt is one of the better books. The chapter that dealt with Thanedd is on par with the the 'The Last Wish', 'The Lesser Evil' though it could never reach the heights that is 'Something more'.
Yeah that was pretty awkward though it lead to a nice moment between Geralt and Milva.
>mfw I get the *cut off both legs* finisher on Djikstra
There, doesn't hurt anymore.
I've been playing through the game on Death March, first playthrough. It's been really difficult and I've died a lot. Progress is slow but I feel like I've gotten gud finally.
Baron just hanged himself.
Feeling like taking a break from this game now. Maybe start over from the beginning when I come back so I can save him.
Really liked that guy.
I remember some anon a few threads ago mentioned tv tropes section for the Witcher so I decided to look it up. I gotta say whoever did the Time of Contempt section was pretty hilarious.
>Papa Wolf: Everything between Geralt and Ciri is slaughtered in a manner not too dissimilar to Taken. Until Geralt meets Vilgefortz and the best he can do is slow him down by letting him beat on him.
I can't stand not having a happy ending. I want to feel like a hero, damnit.
I haven't even gotten to kill those crones. Is there a quest later on that lets me do that? Please let there be one.
I got a new computer that can run the game at super ultra with magic hair at 1440p at 60 fps and want to play through again.
Is there any benefit from playing a game from witcher 1 through to witcher 3 at all or can I just choose everything in the bath scene? Does saving Adda come into play at all?
I always feel so sorry about this guy.
Could they make spin-off about him?
>the witcher-bruiser who can deflect arrows and dodge lightings appearing out of nowhere

I thoughtlessly used Axii in a crowded room of mage-hating zealots.
yenqucks and ciricancer B T F O
Geralt thinking about Triss:
When virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the lustre of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and the influence of her power it is in vain to resist.
Strong, smart, beautiful and a nice person. She's got it all.
There's a partial translation here
But I haven't read it yet, so I have no idea what state it's currently in
Shame none of these made it into the game, each is much better than that elven rubbish dress.
Triss is so cute when she gets drunk at that party, I love to see her happy and smiling.
Man I forgot how genuinely creepy the Crones were. Great atmosphere.
now start again from the 1st game.
>because of the combat
caring about combat
implying there is combat in that game
just set it to hardest and learn to time your left clicks.
it's literally easy mode with the right potions and oils.
one of the devs released a combat difficulty mod doe.
wrong you faggot. we're on the video game generals board, if you want to talk about your shitty fantasy books, go to /lit/. but oh wait you can't, because /lit/ knows these books are shit because people over there have actual taste.
I planned to go with Yennefer in my second playthrough, but when I reached Novigrad and met Triss, I just couldn't turn her down, she and Geralt have such an amazing chemistry, I can't let her go, she is so amazingly done, good job CDPR.
Ok. The 'authentic' way to be a saga fag is to play through all of the games using the same save file. The games let you do this. It feels so much better at the end when you have all of your decisions and mistakes behind you.
however insignificant they may be
>they are still entertaining and enjoyable.
With this I fully agree, I liked them a lot. What I don't agree with is people saying you should read the books before posting here just because they don't agree with the choices some people like to make in their game. Play your game any fucking way you want to and leave other people to do the same.
I think you have to do Now or Never to get access to Deadly Plot. Triss will be at the final battle regardless of your choice in Now or Never.
Later on you'll get an option to "shove Dijkstra forcefully", it's probably a good idea not to do it.
So... how long you think we're gonna do this?
Ah, right. Sorry, I forgot we're here forever.
Nah. See... I like him.
But I'm going to marry Shani.
Triss is so great, I love the sparks between her and Geralt.
I was extremely happy with the ending I got. #TeamTriss forever.
I like the TeamTriss hashtag on twitter. So many like-minded individuals with sensible taste. #bros
There is definitely something special about Triss and Geralt, they complement each other, care for each other, their love is so pure and honest.
You can't really compare them.
The books feature a better plot which is more fleshed out and it's the same with the characters and you can't even argue this point, however, that being said it's two different mediums so it really just comes down to which one you prefer, the games or books. One thing I always enjoy about books more then the games is that they are not restricted to small areas in the world.
>One thing I always enjoy about books more then the games is that they are not restricted to small areas in the world.
For me games are much more immersive, I honestly feel like a part of the world, I'm more connected to the characters and story, and games in general are a medium I tend to enjoy more, not dissing the books, it's simply a matter of personal taste.
Don't worry Triss, Geralt will always be there for you, to catch you when you fall and to give you his unconditional love.
>and games in general are a medium I tend to enjoy more, not dissing the books, it's simply a matter of personal taste.
Yeah, sure there are some things that are objectively not subject to taste, but for the most part it comes down to what you enjoy more.
They added more to both of them. The Triss ones are awful and the Yen ones are mediocre. Though granted, Triss had almost no dialogue after Novigrad so I guess she needed more.
It wasn't like this until a few days ago. Something about the Holidays triggered it.
It's more Trissfags vs. everyone really.
It was pretty good for awhile. I don't get what happened.
I don't like to compare them in that way because I feel they're both part of a whole but I get what you're saying.
Guy only played TW3 so honestly I can see how he arrived a this conclusion, and he honestly has some good points about the strengths of a predefined character vs. a blank slate in an RPG, even if he doesn't really understand the characters he's speaking of since he missed most of the series.
About to start Witcher 2 for the first time, using an old save from my Witcher 1 run.
How's Dark mode? I see that it has special armor sets, how crucial are they? Is the difficulty setting tuned around them? I don't really want to be shoehorned into a specific set of edgy as fuck looking armor with all the good looking stuff this game provides.
Geralt is always so gentle with Triss, I love how she melts with love when he touches her face, she is like an angel who you just want to hug and never let go.
Oh Triss, you have been with Geralt from the first game, you did so much for him, no wonder he's so in love with you.
Easy on the booze there Triss...oh who am I kidding, you're adorable when you get tipsy(not that she isn't always adorable). I love Triss.
honestly my first playthrough on normal felt harder than my next one on dark mode. the armours are pretty cool and you need to work to get all the resources to buy the diagrams and craft the parts, so it's not like you can just instantly cheat your way through the game. they're not crucial, but I'd suggest trying them out at least.
Aside from being beautiful, kind, caring person Triss can also be a badass.
Dark and rainy night, reconciled Triss Merigold prepares to leave and never see Geralt again.
She loves him, but she is sure he will choose his former lover Yennefer. To her surprise he opens up and shares his real feelings. She is swept away at first, but decides to embrace the moment. They spend a beautiful night together, a night that proved Triss Geralt's love is real. Nothing will ever be able to separate them again, true love has won.
Despite being on important mission, Geralt and Triss managed to grab a moment for themselves. The sorceress blushed as Geralt complimented her skills as a leader of the oppressed mages. Cheerful atmosphere and good wine made both drop their guard, and once again the feelings they had for each other revealed themselves. Alcohol did its thing, and the charming sorceress lost balance for a moment only to find herself in Geralt's strong arms. In that one magical moment that seemed to last forever, their lips joined again and the flame of their love once again started burning with unrivaled passion.
Final battle is approaching, worried Triss Merigold manages to steal a moment alone with Geralt. She wants to feel Geralt's embrace once again, to hear him say something nice to her, to make her feel safe and to dispel any doubts she has about the outcome of the battle. While holding her firmly in his arms, Witcher starts talking about Kovir, mentioning the short and cold days they have there. Triss flinches for a moment, but Geralt continues, saying he can't wait for the long nights they will spend together. Triss heart melts with joy, she knows that Geralt doesn't say these things lightly, she knows know how much he loves her.
Why do half the idiots in this game not have any shoes? Like Keira? And why does she stand on her toes the whole time? Does she have Duchenne muscular dystrophy or something? Or did they just make her model with heels on, decided later they want her bare foot running through ancient elven ruins and mage tower
not to mention hiking across the wilderness to Kaer Morhenfor shits and giggle.
I get that peasants are poor, but no fucking way these people are stumbling about in fucking snow with no dam shoes on!
A lot of people wear hoods in Novigrad, they would be more noticeable without them, being beautiful sorceress and all. Triss alt outfit on the other hand is completely ridiculous in all circumstances.
Well there are the Witch Hunters. And both are pretty well known, especially Triss with that red hair of hers. Yennefer maybe not so much, but still Dandelion made pretty fucking sure she's recognizable. At least they did something. Even if they do still stand out.
>Can't get into witcher 1, dislike the swapping of combat styles mid-fight and the graphics look weirdly old.
>Can't get past the tutorial of witcher 2, apparently I'll never learn how to riposte.
Am I really missing out on anything by just jumping into witcher 3? If I were to go back to the sequels, what's the bare minimum progress I have to make before I can tell whether or not i'll like it?
Olgierd von Everec is objectively the most attractive person in any Witcher
I went with Yennefer on my first playthrough and overall it was good, on my second one I decided to change some decisions and went with Triss. While both are really great, I think I liked Triss a bit more, she has some great scenes.
Freeing the Spirit in the Tree casualty count:
An entire village including the children
All the random people it decided to kill just because they came too close
explain this spirit cucks
Anyone else experience this?
Was working fine until just recently.
Man choosing between Triss and Yenn was so hard for me.
I loved Triss a lot more than Yen, but I am a big lore person, and for the ending I was going for it only made more sense if I went with Yen.
About to embark on my second playthrough and I will definitely choose Triss. She's just so amazing
Yennefer caused Letho and his companions to be arrested, and in this way she "started" the whole king assassination thing.
Geralt may have slept around while he had amnesia, but Yen caused a WAR.
Witcher was the first RPG i played where the waifus provided haven't been shit-tier.
