I'm not sure how I would feel about it, it would be a total 180 of the normal Who formula. The Doctor has always been shown as a grandfather type with young women as his companions so doing a younger women (Compared to Walsh) with an older male companion might not work, but if they do it right it could be kino

>>86696745
Me too, I always prefer more than one companion and was hoping for a male and female companion so as not to just do a switch with the Doctor/companion genders

Tbf, they got the 'regenerate sooner than you think' bit half right, with Capaldi beginning to regenerate. The other half is probably them having been muddled over the D Bradley rumours.

The Sunday Sport (your pic) is known for making up stories completely, for laughs (e.g. "Spitfire spotted on the moon").

The Mirror tries to report more credibly, although does get things wrong from time to time (that's how Piers Morgan lost his job as editor), but they wouldn't be putting this on the front page unless they were pretty certain.

The Law & Order UK connection with Chibnall makes me believe it a little more anyway.

Daleks-Genesis of the Daleks

Cybermen-WEAT/The Doctor Falls

Autons-Spearhead From Space

The Silurians-The Sea Devils

The Master-Utopia/The Sound of Drums(Fuck part 3. It would be The Mind of Evil if I didn't feel like I have too much Pertwee on this list)

Sontarans-The Invasion of Time

Weeping Angels-Blink

The Great Intelligence-The Snowmen

The Ice Warriors-The Seeds of Death

As they should be, anon. Time lords arw a shit concept:upper class twits who only stick their nose into shit when it threatens them. For all their "lording" over time all they fucking do is act like pricks while shaking in their boots and coming up with another hoop for the doctor to jump through while he acts like a stubborn ass about the situation like he always does. Its a perfect time lord story, and their limited presence but maximum wffect is what makes it the best time lord story.

I feel like there's a decent argument for Revelation as the Davros option, actually. Genesis has the one really brilliant scene between him and Tom, but lots of it is just capture/escape in grey corridors and Harry falling into a clam. With Revelation, you get more into the psychosis of him, forcing people to eat their own dead relatives and such. And it's got the glass Dalek.
>>
lol wtf is this Bradley Walsh thing actually real? I mean he's a likeable tv personality and (maybe?) a decent actor but this is just bizarre. A girl Doctor and Bradley Walsh as the companion. Will Mr. Blobby be joining them too?

nobody knows. the "source" is the mirror, which is notoriously unreliable, but another anon said they're sticking it on the front page of the physical paper itself, which would indicate that there's a bit more weight to it than previous (incorrect) casting announcements they've made. doesn't seal the deal either way, though. all we can do is wait and see.
>>

The fuck you talking about? Earthshock they act as generic robotmen and the best part of it is that they kill adric. Tomb is okay, but the first episode is that boring shit they do where you wait 30 minutes while they establish a small group of assholes before we start doing anything.

>silurians

Deadly assassin is just tom baker masturbating for 2 hours. Mind of evil is good, but like i said maybe we had too much pertwee already. Keeper of traken is a decent story, but boring in parts.

Oh, Immigrant. I love you, but you're way too touchy about these things. It's obvious the "Autism" page isn't seriously attacking the autistic in any way - hell, half of /who/ consider themselves obsessive and not exactly socially adept - but just a mildly edgy joke. And "looking bad" is what keeps every wanker on the DW facebook page from coming over here.

I guess, the us/them division in general is gatekeeping, but most people with a lick of sense would know that despite the perceived hostilities, the websites one uses don't necessarily define a person. Plenty of people use reddit in addition to 4chan, but there are more extreme examples. There's even a subsection of people who think 4chan and reddit are cut from the same cloth, so to speak.

That said, it does become startlingly fucking clear when someone who almost exclusively goes on one website then visits the other, and attempts to fit in without first properly gauging what the community is like. Or makes an attempt at the humour without actually understanding it.

Anyways, I don't think it's bad to notice the differences in people who frequent certain communities over others, and it's not necessarily gatekeeping to point out that there's a natural awkwardness when someone from one community attempts to replicate something from another without the appropriate foreknowledge.

anyways thats enough punctuation and big fuck-off words cus i dont think i had a point in the first place

People who get upset over the autism jokes from a community like this usually don't have a full understanding. I would lay money on a fair amount of /who/ being somewhere on the spectrum. That's not a bad thing, and given that it's a sliding scale, it probably isn't to any vast degree for most people. So, I've always viewed that sorta humour as a tongue-in-cheek thing, poking fun at the fact that a bunch of us are socially inept and obsessed with a show that's long been a staple of hyperfixation for people on the spectrum. Whether that's strictly true or not, I highly doubt anyone here - at least on /who/ - has a genuine hatred of autistic people.

But, for outsiders looking in? They don't have that sort of knowledge. So, I get why it can seem utterly, unforgivably offensive and, as that reddit user put it, "disgusting." It's an awkward sort of situation, I guess, but that edgy humour will always be prevalent in some way. That might be unfortunate, depending on how you look at it, but it'll always be reality.

In many ways, I'm glad that it didn't. It can be funny sometimes, usually when used in a context that the word actually makes sense in, but most people don't manage that. Then again, I guess the same could be said for a lot of autism jokes.

I meant in terms of a generic insult. "Autist" is often used on /who/ as a lightly mocking synonym of "overly geeky", but in other places, it's used as a real insult. However, both are better than "fag" (which has also somewhat transcended its slur origins on 4chan).

>>
>>86707613
Oh, I see! Yeah, I get what you mean now. Honestly, it may just be because of the communities I frequent and the people I surround myself with, but I don't often see "autist" being used outside of 4chan at all. If I do, it's from someone I know regularly frequents it. I've seen "cuck" a lot, but typically in the context of alt-right... stuff. As for "fag," it is the worst of the three, yeah, but I think it's transcended it's origins as a homophobic slur in general, really, but is still most typically used for those reasons.

In an ideal world, generic insults would deviate from slurs used to target specific marginalised groups. As much as I dislike the word itself (for it's meaning, really), "cuck" was... weirdly, a step in the right direction. You'd probably get people - and I believe, there were - who got all worked up about how it unfairly targeted those with that specific, uhhh... fetish, but that's at least better than some other alternatives.

Honestly, the etymology of insults is fucking weird, especially on 4chan.

Cuck doesn't have the whole "homophobic" past of "fag", and the whole "usual actual illness as slur" part of "autist." It's almost a nonsense word, as it's rarely used on actual cuckholds. Weirdly, "Moralfag" and "writerfag" are almost neutral words.

Haven't seen "autist" or "fag" used outside 4chan.

True enough about "cuck," it's definitely a nonsense word at this point and certainly not offensive, even if some twats kick up a fuss about it because they feel we're all laughing at their fetish. Which, let's be honest, we are.

>>86708133
For what it's worth, and this is just an aside, really - I don't personally have a problem with those words. I'm just thinking of people who do, and I recognise the issues surrounding them even if they don't personally affect me.

Truly and honestly, I don't actually fully understand the idea of being upset by a word that's not being used in a malicious context against you personally. And I'm kinda bemused by people who react violently to any use at all of an "offensive" word, because... well, context. It's always important.

But anyways, maybe this is enough serious discussion on the matter. It's not a problem (whatever your views on it are) that's gonna get resolved here and now, and its the sort of thing that polarises a community. Don't wanna be the cause of that.

Extremis:
It transpires that the simulated Doctor has been using all the repeated simulations of his painful death to perform a Heaven Sent move, slowly hacking the system a little more each time until his sunglasses are able to contact their real-world counterpart.

Pyramid:
The Doctor, trying to overcompensate for his blind state, accidentally touches the deadly ooze or breathes in too much of the deadly gas or whatever, and is mortally poisoned as well as paralysed while trapped in the lab (which is about to blow). Bill begs the Monks to "save him", which they do by teleporting him directly into their ship.

Lie:
The Monks reveal themselves, and install themselves as the new primary power on Earth by using their simulator to identify and avert a series of major human-created disasters. As a result they gain the backing of all world leaders and are viewed by the human race as godlike benefactors. The price of this, however, is that humanity must worship and build more resources for the Monks so they can take over more planets. The working class members of society are the ones who end up violently enslaved for these tasks via a brutal regime.
The Doctor's low level hypnotic abilities are wired up to a network of satellites similar to the Archangel Network, and all media channels are flooded with psychic messages of obedience and "truth" in the Doctor's voice (as well as videos of him in the broadcasts). 6 months pass as in the original episode.

Nardole has been organising a resistance squad and reunites with Bill, he reluctantly agrees that only the Vault dweller can help them now. There's a protocol which Nardole can only activate in the direst emergency that will let them enter the vault and speak to (the still sealed in) Missy. Missy is thrilled that it sounds like the Doctor has finally gone to the dark side but disappointed when she realises it's probably just brainwashing. [CONTD]
>>
>>86708870

From Missy, we learn that the Monks were originally created by benevolent higher powers to heal and rescue doomed planets/civilisations, by deterministically simulating them and then intervening when consent was acquired. But every planet they saved invariably turned to abusing them, wanting more and more power then lashing out when the Monks wouldn't provide, often smearing them as monsters and trying to take their gear by force. As a result of experiencing this countless times, the Monks slowly developed the desire to be worshipped themselves instead of enduring all that.
But their fundamental protocol still applies: they can't intervene on a planet without permission, and they need direct consent to edit anything. Missy notes that they usually wouldn't go through with all of the psychic hypnosis business since they usually perform direct edits to planets, so something must be different, but she tells Bill and Nardole they're probably using the Doctor as their engine and the best way to stop it is blow his head off. Bill refuses.

The Monks are gathering for a big broadcast soon to consolidate the next phase of their operation; this will involve hypnotising the population of earth into forgetting its own history in favour of the 'real' Monk based one. Nardole, Bill and their gunny pals use this opportunity to sneak into the Cathedral where the Doctor is being held in a little white room. Bill confronts the Doctor who doesn't look that happy to see her.

It turns out the Doctor is playing along with the Monks precisely because he wants to provoke humanity into a revolution via accelerationism, in other words he wants to allow the situation to get so bad that mass change is inevitable. He tries to persuade Bill that the ends will justify the means, and the suffering of those under the Monks' regime will lead to a better future. Bill insists that the Doctor she knew would never overlook people's lives for the sake of an abstract historical goal... [CONTD]
>>
>>86708909
...and asks if he realises that he's been brainwashed. He replies that brainwashing a Time Lord isn't so easy. Bill then tells him what Missy told her, which is that the Monks can directly edit anything that they have been given express consent to in their contract. In this case that means the Doctor, since Bill asked them to "save him". If they were able to simulate him perfectly in the machine, who's to say they couldn't rewrite his very thoughts?

The Doctor didn't think of that and is genuinely horrified by the idea that his thoughts may not be truly his own, that he's been corrupted into something truly awful. He keeps talking but his real personality starts to peek out anguishedly from within, like in Get Out or something. He tells Bill that one way or another he can't stop the psychic link of his own free will, it's still using his brain whether he wants it to or not, so there's only one way to stop it and henceforth kickstart the revolution early. He looks at her meaningfully, and (traumatised) Bill pulls out the gun and pops one in the Doctor. The sound of the gunshot going off sets off several alerts and the Monks become aware of what's going on.

12 of course knows that regenerating will refresh his brain and clear out the psychic link. He starts to explode. The Monks, however, have the Doctor's thingy device that he used in Extremis to suck regeneration energy from his own future (they knew about it because they saw him using it in the simulation), and they use it now to cancel out the burst, meaning the Doctor is slowly dying of a bullet wound but is still 12 and the psychic link is still intact. The Monks storm in but Bill and co - on the dying Doctor's instruction - take him hostage (since if they kill him for real the psychic link will break for good). They demand to be led through into the central psychic server room, which the Monks grudgingly permit. [CONTD]
>>
>>86708965
When they get in there's a huge ass node which operates the satellites. Bill and co demand the monks leave peacefully, free the slaves etc. Monks argue that the humans won't accept the truth, using various historical examples of denial and fascism etc., then try to shake the good guys by revealing that Bill was the one who sold out the world. While that's going on they crank up the psychic node to full blast sending out a hypnotic wave that overpowers the good guys. Obligatory bad action sequence - the Monks grab the Doctor and heal his gunshot wound while vaporising a few of the good guys who are firing bullets everywhere.

Because the Doctor is showing signs of resisting the brainwashing, they decide they will remove his limited freedom by hooking him up to the node directly, a mental overload that would burn out a human mind. In the chaos Bill runs at the node and grabs it after 12, hoping she can do something.
We now get a modified version of the original ending - the Doctor redirects the energy through himself so Bill isn't fried, and as they start to sort of mentally combine, he psychically urges her to send out her memories of the suffering endured over the last 6 months. Just in time for the big broadcast, these are beamed into everyone's heads via the satellites (this results in everyone seeing Bill's mum as well as the horrifying truth of the monks' regime). The Monks go "oh christ, we didn't predict this" and flee the impending fallout, with all of their technology and bric-a-brac folding itself up and flying away with them. The brainwashing of the Doctor also breaks.

Everyone starts to forget the memories and no-one realises who Bill or her mum were, but the image of her mum becomes a symbol of the monks' overthrow. Things go back to normal. The Doctor praises Bill for her ability to hold onto her past and notes that this is the key to regaining freedom.

Its a well written idea, but I didnt like it anon. Its so continuity heavy that if you missed one episode or missed a minor detail while going to the bathroom then you kind of are SoL for the next 3 weeks. Also, your payoffs to the individual episodes arent strong enough to keep me interested. For example part of the reason Pyramid works so well as a story is because The Doctor has essentially won when its yanked away from him. He can beat them blinded, desperate and afraid. Your version of pyramid has him almost cocky, missing a detail as simple as "dont breathe in the poison gas" when in reality the doctor would never just forego simple health and safety checks because thats not a 12 move. Maybe 8 or 11, but not 12.

Doctor Who, but instead of a time war we learn Time Lords are just cunts who developed time travel first, then used it to get the upper handon every race in the universe and smugly steal every race's advances and knowledge so that they could have the ultimate utopia for a civilization. Their great arrogance betrays the fact that they have essentially only stolen other races advances. Worse still, they bootstrap paradoxed themselves time travel, so even that advancement is undeserved. Regeneration is originally the project of another civilization altogether. The kicker is that The Doctor knew about this all along, and why he refers to advancements by their native discovery name(the blinnovich limitation effect as opposed to the great Omegas limitation effect or something) and was one of the reasons he left gallifrey. The shear amount of advancements humanity gave the universe in the timeline before time lords gained power over everything is so staggering that its one of the reasons the doctor keeps protecting it and came back to it after the time war.

Suck it, Cartmel.

Unironic answer: A physical copy of The Light At The End.

The fucking special edition with the book included as well.

The book was nice enough (mainly for the cast photos) but I can't believe I paid 40 quid for that boring arse audio.

I don't own as much as I'd like to, but god knows I own a lot of embarrassing stuff for other franchises. Sometimes I'm thankful to have zero fucking friends because I never have to worry about being judged for that shit.

I have a "Trust Me I'm The Doctor" t-shirt in the style of one of those "keep calm and carry on" posters. I'd say that's pretty embarrassing. I don't even know where it is at the moment.

Its actually a Doctor Who shirt that says Time Lord. Its actually kind of cool because it burned in a house fire in just such a way that it looks vaguely time war ish instead of white.

Its only an embarassment because someone I love deeply gave it to me and I hurt them. I may never talk to them again, but this shirt is all I have left to remember them by and I cannot let it go. My current romantic partner has no clue, and I'm very ashamed. I would have done anything at certain points to have her around, get her perspective and reconnect again. But I tried that and lost. So, I just keep the shirt.

I hardly ever wear it though.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that, anon. You deserve better. I hope things are happier for you now, and I know that it must've hurt, and I know that it probably still does (also, see below) and it might not always feel like it, but you're far better off for being rid of someone like that.

>>86711179
Even if you can't make amends, time heals all wounds... or so I've been told. It might always hurt, and that's okay - but some day, hopefully, it's gonna hurt a whole lot less. I'm glad you're thinking of it positively though, that's always a step in the right direction. I also know how it feels to fuck up a relationship with someone really great, and... even though, in the end, it was the best thing for me (he became a very different person and it wasn't a person I liked), I still feel regret over how I handled it all. And I worry that if I hadn't acted the way I did, I could've salvaged it. But no point dwelling on the past. Unfortunately, unlike the Doctor... we really can't change it. Best to always look forward.

Anyways, oversharing aside, I hope you enjoy your ear story. Marvellous choice, by the way. Glad to see some more appreciation for the indisputably best Doctor.

You won't get happy unless you go outside your comfort zone more, stagnating on the internet is never a good idea. And the best way to not get over an ex is to keep treasuring items and memories from them, so I don't advise keeping that up either. But it's your life. I had trouble coping for a while after an 8 year relationship of mine ended, and I can recognise all the mistakes I made them kept me unhappy for some time after, is all. Excuse the unasked for advice.

I'm glad I'm able to help, even just a little. Nobody deserves to feel sad, and even if I can't cheer someone up, it's better to try and fail than to never try at all. I'm glad to hear things are at least a little better, but try not to beat yourself up too much about past mistakes. I know it's hard sometimes, but like I said above, we can't change what's already happened, but we can do a damn good job at improving the future. Always focus on that.

I'd give you advice on the dating thing in general, but unfortunately, I'm in a similar situation. Except, not at all. Very highly fucking unique actually.

Nothing to apologise for, people can always filter this stuff if they don't want to see it.
I've always found i r l the gender balance of 'nerdy' sorts of things to be pretty even, but online and with a lot of i r l folks that whole lopsided thinking persists. Frustrating.
I'm sorry your school experience was less than pleasant, that must have been difficult.
There's plenty of folks out there who'll take you seriously, they're out there, you deserve to find some, and you will.
>>
>>86712766
Fuck outta here with that shit, looms aren't canon.

The real question is, if you have two Timelords who are related, and they both regenerate, destroying each of the cells in their bodies and replacing them, would it be incest if they fucked and made a baby?
>>
I'm surprised the tardis data core doesn't have a page on incest, actually. God knows it's got a page on every fucking other thing in the world.

I deleted the post, sorry about that, anon. I didn't realise how distracting the spoiler text would be and the last thing I want to do is disrupt the thread at all just to talk about me. I'm glad you got the chance to read it first, though, since it was ultimately a response to you. I certainly know there are guys out there that'd appreciate it, but I think we all have the same fucking problem: we're all sat in the house shitposting about Doctor Who instead of being out and about in the world to meet. Thank you, though. You're very kind. And you're very welcome for the Paul, I have plenty.

>>86712922
True enough, but I get self-conscious and I know how much /who/ hates people making threads all about themselves. My problem is that there's plenty of nerdy folks around, but few that are as heavily invested in it as me. Like, I could meet plenty of Doctor Who fans, but by god would I struggle to find someone who'd debate with me over the canonicity of looms. Not that that's what I'm actively searching for, but you get the idea. That level of knowledge isn't one an average fan possesses, and it's what makes people think I'm weird. Which is why I like the internet - I've got places like /who/, and it's comfy here. But, thank you. I appreciate the kind words immensely. I don't really actively search for someone, at least. I just hope that... maybe, one day,
the right person will come along and that'll be that.

Depends how they classify familial relations on Gallifrey. I suspect it won't be as simple as using biology as a basis, given the whole regeneration thing. If every cell was destroyed and replaced, and only the consciousness carries over to the new body, maybe they'd use something to do with mental imprints...? No idea.
>>

Thank you very much. You didn't need to delete it though, you were fine. I suppose we all need a boy/girlfriend who appreciates our interests like /who/ does

>>
>>86713059
I assume if it's an issue then Rassilon made some stricture against it. Regeneration isn't purely a natural occurrence after all. If the guy genocided countless races that didn't look like him, I'm sure he'd nip "freaky looking Time Lords" into the bud.

>>86713130
A lot of people just like seeing someone be passionate about anything, whether it's nerdy stuff or music or sport or whatever else, anything that shows the person has a unique identity and is passionate and individual, not just another person apathetically coasting along. Don't have to be with someone of identical fandom to you. Unless you want that of course. I know what you mean by not actively searching though.

Nah, anon, it's alright anyways. I suspect the conversation won't carry on for much longer. Like I said, I really don't want to disrupt anything just to talk about... well, me. I don't mind it when others do it, and I'm always happy to chat to people and help cheer them up. But me whining about something uniquely personal that's ultimately not a huge issue (in the grand scheme of things) isn't worth cluttering the thread for. I'll do my best to shut the fuck up about it now. For once.

>>86713404
Oh. In that case, probably not. Since faults arise primarily from recessive genes being brought to the forefront through generations of incestuous relations, then, first of all: the initial baby probably wouldn't be at risk anyways, and secondly... because every cell changes, the DNA does too, so it wouldn't ever become an issue. (On that note: do you think Time Lords can have congenital diseases? Or would their DNA be too pure or some shit for that to happen? They'd probably have the tech needed to prevent it.)

Maybe it would've had a... a time head. Ultimately, aside from the "timey-wimey" implications, the baby would probably be biologically healthy.

>>86713306
We've been searching for love all this time... Maybe the real love was the friends we made on /who/ along the way.

>>86713475

It's offseason, people can filter/hide stuff if it annoys them, I wouldn't worry about it. I suppose people could always bring conversations to the stream instead if it really, really bothered some people, but I don't think that's necessary. I find the idea of neutering any discussion without some tangential connection to Doctor Who embarrassing and dehumanising personally. Minds don't work like that. We're all people. Well I'm always happy to talk at any rate.

I feel the same way. Plus, /who/ is a fairly unique little community in its own right on /tv/, and I feel the ability to talk on a bit more personal grounds is not only a benefit of that, but also helps to establish that sense of companionship in the first place. Besides, the thread would be a lot more dead during offseason if it wasn't for the varied discussion that sometimes wanders beyond strictly Doctor Who stuff. That should, of course, always be the primary purpose of /who/ - but throttling all other sorts of conversation isn't exactly an improvement.

Anyways, I promised myself I'd read more of the EDAs before I slept, so I'm off to go do that.
