I know it works well with figures but do you think it will be ok for Lego sets too?

I really fucking hate lego these days.
This how the section of New Sets of my local online store looks like.

1) shitty SW-sets that are basically bunch of grey or brown bricks made of lego parts
2) that godawful Nexo line (dont get me wrong - i LOVED previous nexo line) that again - lacks of good color choices and builds
3) shitty marvel sets
and thats all.

2 Major licensed lines (SW and Superheroes) DOMINATING lego right now

1) SW cant be enjoyed by non sw-fan. i really really dislike the lack of interesting choices and designs in it. its all those lame looking spaceships and brick-shaped space ships
2) Marvel... well - everybody knows that marvel is the pinnacle of lazy lego production

All that is left is either
1) Nexo Knights which is not that good with this line.
2) Friends/Elves sets. i got some magazines for tiny cool items like forks or baby birds but thats all.
3) Creator line.

Man i fucking hate 2017 for lego. How fast it became very very boring.
Back in 1-2 years we had so many cool and crazy stuff.

How about based Ninjago and its mecha?
>>
>>6403133
didnt came out yet
But its...i dont know. Its not bad but its a ninjago mecha-seen many times already.
And its not very creative with colors and shapes. Just a human figure of Red (good guy) or Black (bad guy) colors.
Bad guy has fish-tank gun but its on the back and too hidden to be extremely creative part of mech.

However the movie ninjago is amazing looking design wise. I also like that 300$ set.
And mechanic dragon looks cool too.
I guess i will buy the dragon.

but yeah...what the hell lego. How we will make Lego Great Again?
How do we kill both SW and Marvel?

for whatever it's worth, it should get better. Next movie is supposed to be space themed. We might get a few decent sets from that, maybe even a handful of new Classic Space or Blacktron...
Fuck, we're getting some really nice stuff from the Ninjago movie already.

but I hear what you're saying. I went to Target a few days ago. Shelves full of Star Wars and capeshit with a pretty crap City selection in between, it was sad.

>2) you just proved my point that lego sucks. we didnt liked lego because it was a multi billion dollar frahchise seller
Lego doesnt care what YOU like. SW/Capeshit is flying off the shelves...so in Minecraft and Lego City, its why they keep making it.

Ninjago is also getting real popular, even with people who dont care about it. Times change kiddo...Marvel and Star Wars will eventually burn out as well, and even so, im sure some of their kits will look nice to you.

Also....its about building shit yourself. Nothing is stopping you from designing and building your own creations to keep you company and enjoyment.
>>
>>6403206
Nah, life is super easy for me. I can walk into any store that sells Lego, buy a set off of the shelf, and happily build something.
>>
>>6403213
>Lego doesnt care what YOU like
i dont care what THEY like.
i dont care what SHIT-TASTED KIDS like

i care about what I like.
for me capeshit is a capeshit. And startwars sucks.
Which means lego sucks because these 2 are their 2 the most popular products.

Fuck that.
i will stick to creator/random sets and will keep buying parts from bricklink.
PS:
Why do you even explaining that to me. We know companies chose things that bring them the most money...duh.

>Also....its about building shit yourself. Nothing is stopping you from designing and building your own creations to keep you company and enjoyment.
>>6403206
>OR going to Bricklink and buying bricks to build stuff i want
yes? I do.
and buying overpraced 200$ space plane set just to build and experiment...who does that.

SW sets are mostly for collectors. Builder use bricklink or use cheaper sets with much more variety to build stuff.

Using creator as a base for example.
Adding couple of cheap City Sets.
also adding something from Friends/Elves sets that have unique parts.

all of these for the price of ONE star wars set.

I still have no idea what the fuck they were thinking with this year's sets.
First they were teasing us with stunning looking forest and ocean bad guys and then we get basically the exact same shit from last year only with a different element and color.
Then there is the issue that the waves are ruin-themed and yet there's only ONE actual piece of ruin in the entire wave and it's also a store-exclusive set and finally, compared to last year there's almost nothing knight-esque about the good guy's vehicles and most look like some rejected space-theme sets from ten years ago.

There. I fixed it. One top-mounted beam cannon turret, with a faceless mook to operate it. Though he'll inevitably get his head blown off by a distant sniper. Also removed the unsightly stud shooters on the side guns.

Unfortunately the turret doesn't spin 360 degrees due to the fact that the cabin is so cramped and it's basically impossible to get any kind of turntable in that tiny space. Even after moving the drivers seat one stud forward there's still basically no leftover room.

Why do they even put this on there? Just having a 6+ would be adequate. Every other toy line does that, and Lego has always been one of the only 'acceptable for adults' ones.
>>
>>6403433

For clueless grandparents who are shopping for their grandchildren but need some guidance. If it only shows the minimum recommended age, grandparents might pass it up, but if it gives a clear age range, they will be more likely to purchase it.

$80 is pretty steep for most of those since a lot of them are common. I would bricklink the ones you want instead.
>>
>>6403645
Not worth the four hours of driving, the gas to get there and back, and the $80. You won't ever use them all, and you can save the money to spend on buying the few you want from BL.

OR just message them and ask if they'll cram it into a flat rate box or something for an extra $20 that you paypal them or w/e. Worth a shot.
>>
>>6403645
For $80 on bricklink, you can find all of the minifigs that you actually want out of that lot + a load of useful bricks.
>>
>>6403594
I don't have mine fully going yet, but I'll tell you what I have so far, so you can run with that if you'd like.
Also I had this mostly typed out, but it got deleted because I ctrl+shift+w so forgive me for being a bit short.

>Large flat workspace
For building/sorting. Duh.

>Small-volume sorted storage
You can either have carry cases with little removable bins, or the desktop, small-drawer type thing. I have both. Carry cases for figs and animals, drawers for small pieces I don't have many of.

>Mid-volume storage containers
For stuff you have more of. Bricks, plates, etc. If you want to sort with more granularity, you won't need as many larger-volume sections. I'm currently using quart-sized zipper bags for organization, and putting those into smaller drawers, just for storage purposes.

>Large-volume storage containers
Bigger drawers, plastic storage bins. Mostly use these for unsorted bulk.

>>6403847
I'm a fan of all three. It's a shame they canned Chima with how much potential they could have used with it. It's animals. You can go anywhere with that and introduce all kinds of new tribes for years. It could get really crazy and have mummy ostriches in the desert or a pterodactyl tribe with a cloud-based setting for that wave's adventure or something.

I think waves that are too similar is the biggest mistake they keep making with the action themes. With Ninjago they do snakes every other year it seems, but at least they spread it out so there's a break and it can be slightly new again.

Besides being magicks and shit and not having to explain any of this, this was probably lego's most experimental era. I think what they were going for was a slightly more cartoony, toyish and magical take on the franchise that combined both more spooky elements with girly design cues like they used in belville (maybe even getting rid of excess parts)
Wich is understandable because while dark at times, Harry Potter was crazy popular with both boys and girls.

It's interesting how "off-brand" Lego's initial take on Harry Potter was, relative to PoA onward. A lot of these sets seem to have been conjured up out of thin air to add to the Hogwarts dollhouse. You're spot-on about the Belville influence.

>It's a shame they canned Chima with how much potential
chima just ended.
im glad it wasnt cancelled or failed or something. It started lived for 2+ years and ended with tv-show end.
I also love that the end of it was a blast! we got that gigantic fucking ZOMBIE MAMMOTH WALKER
in a million of years i would never expect KLOCKI having zombie mammoth walker operated by zombie prehistoric animals
>>6403877
>Legends of Chima was probably my favorite theme of 2013.
this makes me sad.
2013 was the best year in my entire life. i started to have money and buying lego. Also Lego Minifigure seires became more popular and i started buying it. And dragged back to being lego fan.
I got a trip to Germany. and mom was alive.
2013 is my true nostalgia year and Chima is a part of it.

I remember i bought that Gorilla mech and it was the biggest lego set i got in my life at that moment. building it was so exciting.
It kind of sucks that such a non-too distant year is already became nostalgic

It fooled me so damn much. Look at how comfy it looks. those old timey colors and walls.
but it was just an illusion caused by ad-design.
in reality its a tiny set with colors that are too bright for a "medieval-ish" HP-theme

Man, I wasn't into the movies until after the last one came out, so I missed anything Harry Potter related that Lego did besides Dimensions, but these are some nice, whimsical sets. I like when Lego does their own spin on things instead of having to be straight adaptions from a movie. That's why the comic sets are better than Marvel/DC movie sets (other than TLBM of course) most of the time.

Ah the Fire and Ice stuff started pretty strong with that mammoth, forgot about that. Chima stuff is cheap af right now too, so I'm thinking about grabbing the stuff that I missed.

2013 was almost the same for me as well, so I have nostalgia for it too. I was finally starting to have fun in hs and Lego was one of my biggest interests. Cue graduation, everyone leaves, I stop buying Lego, and things have been weirdly depressing ever since.

Some people say that it resembles a bull's face when looked at from above but either I lack A LOT of imagination or these guys have never seen a cow before.
What's even worse is that, judging by the teaser images in the first wave's instructions, apparently Axl actually WAS supposed to get a bull-themed vehicle that got replaced by whatever the fuck he's riding now.

Pretty much this. I think this year's Nexo sets probably would've been better received if they at least kept up the whole techno-Castle theme they had going instead of just copy-pasting random vehicles and calling it a day. It doesn't even have to be real obvious stuff either, even incorporating some castle elements into certain vehicles would be nice.

I just built a turret, put it into the gunners hands and put a turntable in the vehicles body, drivers seat be damned. Looks like the turret is just a gun by not being connected to the tank but that's as close as we will ever get.

The IFT-X kind of pisses me off in its inconsistency. The cross-section from the wizard of the coast site appears way bigger than the stated 8,5 meters length or the Battlefront model and says the tank fits a gunner on top, 2 people in the body (despite showing only one seat) and an astromech droid (groundromech???). CW 2003 had no turret, cross-section looks like its two-barrel turret is only swivel mounted and BF gives it a 360 beam.

You can put rechargable batteries in it. Also the LiPo batterybox can be topped up with any multi-charger as long as you set it to 9V and don't fuck up the polarity.

Whats the opinion of eBay auctions from Hong Kong actually advertising that they are selling LEGO brand products?

It is worth the risk, as they'll go for super cheap?
Is it possible that the Ebay Money Back Guarantee could not work as people say these sellers will delete the listing/their account after declaring "Item Shipped"?

Talking specify about the 5 listings on eBay current that show a seller from Hong Kong with no feedback and an account that was made last week selling 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer from LEGO...not a Lepin/Lele copy or anything like that...the Actual LEGO product.

I'd kinda love to have a fleet of these and have each one NOT cost $200+, but Im unaware if these are even worth entertaining.

I'd say it completly depends on the context in which the Lego is being used. Like yeah, swooshing space ships and going 'pew pew pew' is completly childish. But then you get the people who use Lego as a canvas to create sculptures/figures that transend being just a toy and becomes art instead.
>>

I agree that it isn't enjoyable "in spite of" being a childrens toy, but saying it's enjoyable (just) because it is a childrens toy is a bit silly too.
I have a whole bunch of toys around but honestly hardly touch any of it compared to Lego because it isn't fun solely because of nostalgia and the out of the box design being neat.
Comparing LEGO to playmobil like that for example isn't really accurate in my opinion because it lacks the creative capabilities.
Playmobil is fun mostly for "live" pretend play, other than that people mostly collect for the sake of collecting.
Collecting for the sake of collecting is one thing, but if the thing you collect are toys it's seen as even more childish and hard to understand for sure.

The creative aspect of Lego is pretty much universally understandable. Sure if your mocs are really juvenile and shit looking it will probably make you look even worse. But as soon as you do something that goes beyond just building sets that look impressive and are well engineered they will atleast understand the fun out of it.
In the end you can use anything as a creative tool, but for toys Lego is by far the most well known for it.
>>
>>6404960
>juvenile and shit looking

This phrase tweaked my sense of what's right because my mocs have always needed a healthy imagination to work properly and it never occurred to me that they were less good than out-of-the-box stuff, just more imaginative, for the most part.

On the other hand, as an artist, I can completely understand getting pissed off when someone posts a pic of an unpolished moc in a thread like this. If you're talking about polished, professional-looking stuff, you don't want someone posting hang-it-on-the-fridge level stuff.
>>
>>6404743

Parts, not pesetas
>>
>>6404971
It was kind of jokingly worded.
I wasn't judging people that build in a more simple, basic, improvised oldschool way or aren't that good at building. I like Lego because it's fun and let's people do whatever the fuck they want.

I'm also an artist (more like hobbyist that just got his first commission), but really don't mind people posting whatever they are doing here regardless of quality. In no way did i try to fend people off that aren't up to my perceived standards, (although rotating and resizing pictures is nice) I often enjoy more raw but very imaginative builds over hyper detailed and precise replicas of combiner-tractor #34204.

Part of what i like about these threads is the low entry and unformal "everybody posts what they're up to, whether it's hang-it-on-the-fridge quality or a masterpiece" attitude. I don't use this place and hobby as a way to solely focus on polished professional-looking stuff. This often sucks the fun out of it and can even cause boring stylistic inbreeding.
These threads always have such energy and general positive excitement that it quickly became my favourite place here after browsing 4chan since 2008, and i wouldn't want that to change.

> The grandma that can't dye her hair gets a Bionicle figure and an actionfigure in the first wave
I wonder what this character is going to do that they rather make her than a non-pilot Poe.

That still leaves a couple of blank spots in Bricksets list.

75179 (between Quad Jumper and Rathar Escape so probably 70$)
75187 (between Freemakers and Resistance Bomber so around 100$)
75192 (UCS set, maybe Falcon)
75193 (another UCS set?)

>>6405184
Rogue Ones cheapest set was the Hovertank for 40 or 30.
TFA had Reys Speeder for 25 and next was TIE Fighter for 50.
25 sets are normally coming out in the Winter and summer waves.
Though I was sure Brickset had a 25$ set for Last Jedi listed at some point.

Resistance Officer and Imperial Officer are exclusive.
The christmas themed object is a sled with 1x2s on it and the christmas figure is BB-8 with a hat.

It's lazier than normal but I find the mini models to look better designwise.
A TFA/Rebels calendar was inevitable since they ignored both the last few years.

I am content though. Wanted some Imp officers all the time and General > Captain. Cheap Ground Crews are nice so I can experiment with giving the helmet a visor slit. The grey thug is so nicely cyberpunky so I love multiples of it. Stormtroopers mean I don't need as many of the new Battlepack. Snowtrooper is another troop design that's nice to have or modify. Sabine should have been the season 3 pink hair design since they apparently don't make new sets but I like her as a source for that hair piece, head and dk orange hands. BB-8s parts always seemed interesting to make structures with so more of that isn't bad. I just don't really know about the Resistance officer. I like the style but don't want a TFA Resistance army unless they make the soldiers with the brown Hoth rebel hats.

Not as army-buildy as the last calendar but still usable. Definitely getting 6 of these when they are below 25€.

There are actual legit sellers from HK but I wouldn't risk the bother online. When I visited Mong Kok there was a wonderful indoor plaza where all the vendors that dealt with plastic bricks dealt genuine Lego. Got ton of early CMF I was missing plus the Ninjago Temple and Mini Cooper sets at low prices (their stock mostly comes from the US and for a person in the UK £60 off the temple alone was a steal).

Gone off topic but I found people in HK hate Lepin just as much as we do.

What's your mother-tongue, Anon?

In English, the C and K almost always combine into a single K sound. Hence my interpretation as "klah-kee", and why "klocki crocki" comes up sometimes. Those rhyme. English likes to add letters that aren't necessary for phonetics.

The letter you're thinking of would probably be X. Makes a Z sound, or a K+S sound, depending on the context. But I don't think that sound applies here

The soft rubber hairpieces allow a little more flexibility. As you can see, they are designed for a minifig head but cede enough for a snug fit.

Aira's hair from LEGO Elves: the right side hair goes over the bandana.

Mia/Lily/Naomi from Friends: both sides overlap with gaps.

Olivia/Kate from Friends: gaps on both sides.

Disney's Merida/Andrea from Friends: tiny slit between head and hairpiece.

Disney's Ariel/Livi from Friends: small gap at right side.

CMF Cavewoman/Pixal/Toxikita: almost a snuggly fit, the hairpiece goes a little bit over the bandana.

Red Harrington from The Lone Ranger: it is possible but the braids go over the bandana leaving gaps between the braids, the torso and the head.

tl;dr: yes, you can use most of the soft rubbery hairpieces unless you care about the unnoticeable small gaps.

That's the issue, a very vocal minority acts as if they are the public opinion (which they are not) and sadly nobody tells them to fuck off, so they get their way at the expense of others.

They are having "Knight Lights". Castle related night time events like a laser show and character meets. It's all month on select dates. The 1st, 2nd, 4th (but it was America themed), 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and the 30th. They usually give out bricks for doing activities, like "King Leo's Game of Throws" and scavenger hunts. Do you guys live in Florida?

Bought a bunch of figures that may or may not smell like smoke, washed them with water and soap and hoping that the smell goes away in the morning

It was a bunch of Kreons but posting here because all the parts are basically the same shape and size when taken apart

I don't know if I have any baking soda, should I just keep these figures separate from my rest, what should I do with these? I don't think I have enough baking soda to bury them in. If I keep them in containers with my other figures, will the smell/grime transfer?

While her proportions aren't spot-on, I'd say that at the moment they're close enough to be acceptable, and honestly I'd rather not fuck with them. In fact, if anything I'd sooner do the exact opposite of what you suggested and shorten the legs and lengthen the torso, to bring the bottom of the pelvis closer to the halfway mark. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you were tricked by the perspective of the camera, because her legs are already long enough as is.

>>6406331
Truthfully I was looking for something a bit more visually distinct than just a flat breastplate. Something that goes with her construction vehicle gimmick. But I'm keeping that image for later though, it's a good idea and I might use for if I end up updating my Devastator bot.

Went to my local big w (retail chain store where I live) and had a look at their Lego selection, as they are having a toy sale. Most sets were things I'd already seen from last time. They had ghost busters building for like 475 dollars. Quite a lot of money. They didn't have the set of the jungle laboratory truck which I was thinking of picking up. Instead I got my second penguin car set and I'm going to use the extra parts to build a more exciting penguin car. It was on sale for thirty five dollars which was decent.

I thought of picking up the fire engine set as it was eighteen dollars but decided to save my money and wait for the bait shop and ninjago movie sets

No worries. Myer online does free shipping on orders over 100$ so if you want to grab a big set and its 20% off you can save a bit of coin and have it shipped straight to your house.

>I have no idea how the site works. Amazon and eBay are way more simple for me.

Bricklink is more of a matchmaker site than anything else, a search engine by which the buyer picks what they want and are matched with stores that have matching inventory.

You pick the parts you want, add to shopping cart, click BUY and wait. Seller adds shipping and handling to the total and sends a paypal invoice. Pay the invoice, seller mails out your parts, you get mail eventually.
