Skeleton aside from the arms is original, I've been messing around with it for the last two years. I agree with you otherwise. It looks very generic and messy. Going to definitely overhaul the color scheme, legs, arms, and head to try and smooth it out. Any idea on how it could be made better? Aside from obviously not just slapping on armor like I have been.

Rebuild the shoulder to be on the same height as the uppermost torso
Legs will be fine with proper colors but generic af
Arms are shit and you should discard this base skeleton for them
Head is fine as it's easily enlargeable

Let's take a look at last few attempts. Chima sold like ass and second wave wasn't even released in murrica. Hero Factory only did extraordinary well in Russia but was pretty meh everywhere else. Bonkle we all know what happened. SW ultrabuilds shelfwarm like there's no tomorrow, and only AFOLs with disposable income who like SW to begin with buy those.

CCBS currently does well only when paired with system. Every mech and dragon of recent times utilize the parts somewhat

In all of my time making mocs, ive only made like 1-2 female mocs, compared to the rest of them just being male or non-gendered. I also think its weird designing female mocs into the female "thicc" shape with bigger thighs, breasts and ass. Not that theyre bad, its just really off putting to me. idk, i like my normalcy.

i think besides the obvious reasons of "it's fun" or "that's my fetish", one of the driving forces behind exaggerated proportions on female mocs is due to the nature if the medium. lego pieces don't easily reflect certain qualities that are expected of a female human, namely smoothness. smoothness is especially difficult on a small scale, and while its easy to say a moc figure is female, making it easily recognizable as such is more difficult. so exaggerating proportions becomes almost neccessary to overcome other visual distractions, though the required amount is always debatable.

in addition, many builders seem stuck in a "attaching parts to a frame" mentality, so you see a lot of skeletons with boobs and butts attached. these are good examples of the issue:

if you were to remove the nuva shoulder pads, there is very little remaining that could mark them as female, and they lean so heavily and comically on their exaggerations that its the only thing which makes them stand out. but, it's just plain easier to tack on whatever big round pieces are available, rather than attempting to blend parts together as seamlessly as possible.

but that's like, all just my opinion, man

Aside from his gold armour and silver weapon, some dark and light grey pieces here and there, his yellow eyes and axles, and three black pins, he white all over. His weapon can be switched between axe-mode, spear-mode, and the iconic scythe-mode since all the other nuva weapons have different uses I wanted his to have something unique as well, not to mention its pretty much shown in the movie his weapon can switch between different modes as well so it's even canon too.
I'm thinking, since I made an improved Rahkshi build too, to do all six Rahkshi as the next project. But then again, if i go down that road I might as well revamp the Bohrok as well, and the Matoran and Turaga... and maybe even the titan sets and various Rahi... It's kind of a slippery slope, an expensive slippery slope.

The large joints are totally incompatible, about twice the size of Lego's ball/socket parts, but the bricks are Lego-sized. The small joints look like they may be compatible with mixel joints, though.

Fingers, or at least custom hands, are almost required for larger builds. I try to make them for any moc that will allow it, but Y sockets or fists work fine for anything toa-sized or smaller. Toes are whatever. I don't see it done often enough to really have an opinion on it one way or another, and I can't say I have more than one or two mocs with articulation past the ankle.

My dude, you can only post the same thing so many times before it gets stale, and nearly everything this moc has going on has been done dozens of times over. It's not a bad custom, pretty sleek actually, but it's generic. Very little interesting part usage aside from the upper torso, and you cheated massively with the wrists, ankles, and waist. You have the aptitude to make something new, so make something new. Or improve on what you've got if you can, you have a base.

I just got a pair of trans-purple Bohrok eyes for around 2€ a pop.

It's crazy to think such a small part is worth that much, but looking at what people are asking for them, that was a fucking steal.

That sorta depends on what you mean by a smaller collection. I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say six sets' worth or less, because you pretty much have to improvise with such a narrow selection. That said, there's only so much you can do with a handful of parts unless you're going out of your way to make art through adversity. The best answer is a little of both. Self-imposed limitation is the to go if you want to find cool building techniques, and to avoid both iterating on the Inika archetype that's been iterated into the ground or throwing parts at a massive noisy shape until it looks like something.

MSPaint, Paint.net, Photoshop, GIMP, Ifranview, pretty much any image editing or viewing program lets you resize images. The tool is usually under Edit or Image in the toolbar. Lighting isn't hard, a single desk lamp can get the job done. Looks better if you use a diffuser (thin cloth or paper towel obstructing your light source). Last; If you physically cannot hold the camera still, use a tripod. Alternatively if you don't have a tripod, stack books on a chair or something to rest the camera at an appropriate height. This is probably the most important thing, since you can light and frame your scene as well as you like, but it's still going to come out looking like fuzzy fuckall if your camera is moving while it takes the picture.

Cracks? Imperfections? I go one step further and re-purpose most pieces that crack or even break on me. Only exceptions are when I can no longer connect two things to it, since dead ends don't serve many purposes.

This is why I'm half tempted to replace all my 08-10 joints with either modern ones or the ancient ones, depending on color.

I'd do it with Glatorian fists too, but alas, they're not available in modern form in all colors.

All the SW figures are now 9 and 14$,it is a good price? Or I will wait till they aren't so expensive?

anyone got a beginner's guide or tips and tricks to making good figures? Used to do Bionicle MOCs when I was a small lad and this thread is making me itch to do it again

There is no real guide to build mocs, you could try studying the titans sets and rebuild other mocs like I do to practise.
