In all seriousness though, perhaps do something like the lego creator packs do, three build instructions in a box, but you only have enough pieces to do one of them. You could even place branding on it, they already do star wars, and lego certainly has a few of their own original themes to branch into as well. Outside that, general mythological beast, or alien designs would probably work well.

Yeah, I like the options it gives. I actually went somewhat along with the Hydraxon instructions to get the basics shape down, then just kinda looked for interesting pieces to stick on wherever I could. A major thing I did was for the femur and humerus, not use the regular pieces, but I built my own.

I used those Bohrok head pieces for the structure, and the Rahkshi heads were on a whim, but I think they look amazing the way they smoothly go into the femur armor plate.

Try and flesh yours out a little, if you can find a set that has a nice structure that you want to base off of, that helps a lot. Otherwise, try and imagine things like how many limbs, proportions, and so on

Thanks for the tips! This is really my first time having enough peices to moc (my collection of bionicles are all sets i refuse to part out) so im giving it a shot.

Oh jeez don't even mention Hydraxon, he came in the bin I got yesterday, thought I had a complete titan that I hadn't yet owned and was disappointed when I realized I was missing 53989 the parts that are his fingers. Bummed.

This is what I'm working with now since i switched to that torso. Actaully allows some wiggle room plus i was able to add some abdomen armor without much trouble.

The quailty of mocs and posts sure has gone down this thread.

Not that they're rare but I just don't have much lego other than bionicle and in terms of bionicle I don't think that part was used much. Never even got into much other lego so I didn't even realize they were "mechanical arms"

I've always been a fan of using "feet" as armor myself, but I'm sure you could make something neat. I'd like to see one with those eye/teeth things (Bohrok use as eyes, Fenrakk uses as teeth)

yeah, the chest is pretty plain right now, and I myself am not overly fond of just showing those gray bits. The neck also seems a little lackluster, but that might just me being used to having both ends on a ball joint with a small leg piece between.

Ok I got home and had a little more time to "fix" some things. This is my first Moc (at least actual attempt) and I gotta say, its a lot of "ok gotta take it back apart and do this and again and again..." it is rewarding however seeing it start to come together.

Had to scrap the second set of arms for now at least, I do still want to incoperate that but its hard to work around them without really knowing what will eventually fit where.

I fixed the neck/head so its not so wimpy and bow has even more movement. I think it looks better and with some added bulk should blend nicely. His back certainly gained some heft with the added peice that the head connects to.

what kind of build are you going for? bulky? lithe? mixed? that will determine what you do with the arms, I think, and if you want it more bulky, I'd do something more with the neck, though I'll admit I don't have any real ideas.

I'm think a little more armor bulk but not to much to compromise mobility.

Found a way to possibly get my four arm idea going that I think will add about as much heft as I need. Legs are gonna be a real challenge though with all the top weight.

I never realized Umarak's chest decal had gold detailings until I read that in a review. Plus the design looks a lot nicer than I remembered. That does make me want that sticker much more. How visible is the gold in person?

It's pretty nice looking. The gold has a metallic shine to it and catches the light pretty well. You probably wouldn't even notice it if you weren't looking closely though.

Thanks. I always kind of dismissed it as "just some generic rocks with some green stuff leaking", lamenting the fact the Hunter's unique bark motif+chest mouth had been thrown away. But it's actually a lot more refined than that and manages to stand as its own. The G2 decals were all great, except maybe Quake Beast's, though it's probably just its assymetry that bugs me.

What are some good websites, besides Amazon and eBay, to find Bionicle Kits and Pieces? I use to own a bunch of Bionicle stuff dating back to the first line, mostly due to my grandparents getting me Bionicles for my Birthday and Christmas all the way until 2013-ish, when two things happened. I turned 25 and it became harder to find Bionicles or that Hero line they had going for awhile.

In 2015, when I was preparing to move to a new state to start my life over (Had been living as a NEET since 2007), my grandmother helped me run a huge yard sale. I had several boxes of stuff I didn't want anymore and I told her where to get the boxes before I left to go grocery shopping. Came back and the storage container I had for my Bionicles was gone. Apparently grandma sold them all, thinking they were with the stuff I wanted to sale.

Now that I have a proper job, I'm looking to rebuild my collection. Only one of my homebrewed Bionicles survived the move, a mix of Vezok and Toa Inika Hali. Did this by cutting off the plastic spine and arm attachments from Vezok's head, it uses one of Toa Metru Nokama's axes. Use to use both but well...the yard sale happened.. I also managed to keep the mask/face of Toa Hordika Nuju.

He actually does. If you have Maxilos, I would advise just taking the figure and tweaking it, since Maxilos is pretty clearly designed to resemble 2003 Makuta. Just remove the Cordak blaster and replace the mask+tube with a Kraahkan. By own experience, Onua Mistika's mask works wonders too.

One somehwat good thing 2003 Makuta did was that it estabilished a general idea of how the character should look. Though, in doing so, it hijacked the (admittely too-weird-to-be-sold) 2001/MNOG Makuta. The 2003 set just makes him look like a generic armoured dude instead of the paragon of corruption and outright weirdness the character initially was. By 2003, Makuta was transitioning from a dark god to Greg's pet supervillain. Whether that's a good thing or not, is up to anyone to decide.

Because the ball that the arm is connected to doesn't have + axle through it at all, in fact it has a 3L lightsaber blade running through it and the old hand, so that the clipping mechanism that keeps the shoulders on works.

It's hard to explain but it's more complex than it looks under there.

'03 Makuta (and probably a number of other models from roughly the same time period) is really interesting because the designer behind his design has a very different philosophy/experience compared to models even three years later with Axonn and Brutaka.

Makuta feels like a few certain parts roughly stitched together by technic beams and the like, as if he was designed from scrap and polished afterwards. Axonn and Brutaka, however, feel like cohesive, uniform designs built with a vision from the barest bones. Nearly every piece in Axonn or Brutaka feels like it belongs and was designed to be where it is (even though many pieces obviously weren't) compared to Makuta.

Maybe it's the introduction of the Metru/Vahki hip in 2004 as well as the Piraka/Inika torso in 2006 that paved the way. Hell, the philosophy behind those pieces is still used today- the base Hero Factory torso skeleton is basically an unarmored Inika torso, with ball joints at the most important places- neck, shoulders, and hips.

2003 also had a much smaller parts pool to work with compared to later years and today, but even so the designer's mind was different. It's like how you can tell whether a moc was built by a Japanese or a Western builder by how they use and position their pieces.

That's one of the best MOCs I've seen in a while. I didn't notice that Ikir turning into a sword bit in the artbook but I'd say your design is brilliant. I would make the head a bit more, well, head-like, but do that only if it doesn't hinder the sword transformation.
Tahu is excellent. I love how you combined both his sets and his concept art look into one figure that flows well. Keep the Kopaka chestplate since it matches Uniter Tahu's azure accents. Is his loincloth a sail from a Pirate set?
If I had to change something, I'd replace the HF 2.0 torso shell with a more detailed Breakout shell. My Master Tahu uses it and he looks a heck of a lot better.
