I'm pretty sure these pairs are supposed to be the same thing.
>>6051129
Well, thanks anon.
>>6051129
I-its not like I want to suck your ass or anything....b-b-baka...
i recently got a bunch of plant pieces in (the clip on leaves and palm fronds)
Anybody have good built vegetation pics for inspiration and best way to cover the largest area possible
Best castle in years.
I'm tempted to take my AT-AT and snowtroopers out in the snow for some pictures. Too late now, starts to get dark at 14:30.
>>6051129
Not as funny this time.
I really like how they did the palms in the new Moana sets
A big shame Maui has no backprinting, and that's looks so bad.

Awesome.
Does anyone have all the current TLBM sets? I wanna see if the Bat heads all have the same printing.
>>6051228
Brick Show reviewed everything available (and some of the sets not out until next year). There are definitely different prints on at least some of the Bat heads.

Why do I get so fucking furious when people find my Lego hobby weird?
>>6051260
Fuck, is that just the ninjago copter rebuilt?
Jesus christ, I wish I had instructions to build this.
>>6051287
because normies reeee
>>6051308
Anyone who comments negatively on a fucking harmless hobby is a piece of shit.
Made some updates since last night, added a couple of connection points because it's going to become part of a larger modular ship.
Unrelated, but any suggestions on what Dungeons and Dragons monsters I should attempt building next? I was thinking of attempting a Gelatinous Cube using below link but hate that I'd have to pay fuck-you prices for 2 of those plates.

>>6051319
I say this as a frequent poster in the general, not coming in here to shit on you:
The tribal fear of difference, as a reason to shame you, is awful. But societal norms do indicate a real cost to having lego as a hobby. Investing your time and money into a hobby like Lego DOES have an opportunity cost. With all that time and money (and you only have so much time in your life), you could have been doing something useful. Everyone knows this, even if only subconciously, which is why lego is viewed as neutral at best.
Everyone indulges in useless and harmful activities, of course. There's no need to optimize every second of your life. But please do realize that there is a valid reason not to play with lego as an adult, and a reason why others will comment on it.
>>6051356
As a college student is it statistically worth bothering with Lego? I doubt really have many other hobbies or things I genuinely enjoy doing without force, and I'm concerned that the stigma of Lego will cost me valuable opportunities.
>>6051184
noice
>You are illegally parked on private property. You have twenty seconds to move your vehicle.
>>6051287
Because you're oversensitive and lack self-confidence.
>>6051398
I'm not one to talk, but absolutely don't get into it in college if you can help it. It also depends on what else you have going on. If it's one of a few hobbies, or if you're an engineering student or something, maybe? The positive aspect of lego is the creativity, and the collecting bit is cancer.
The """""""normal""""" thing to do is drop it as a kid, and pick it up when you have kids and have an excuse.
>>6051398
I'm at uni and aside from a Lego Mystery Machine on my desk - which most people think is pretty cool - I'm consciously avoiding buying Lego, which is heartbreaking watching some brilliant sets go by, especially with Lego Batman.
>>6051287

>>6051525
That mechacentaur doesn't look too bad.
Better than Lance's horse from the first wave, not that that's a very high bar.
>>6051180
>original RRP for Fortrex was 120€
>then one store lowered it to 100€
>now it's 90€
I swear to god if I ever win in the lottery, I'm finally gonna buy one.
>>6051457
Thanks Doctor Phil for your totally not bullshit advice.
>>6051576
It's worth it.
It's a fucking tank castle, what more could you want.
How much longer is the first wave of Nexo Nights going to be available?
>>6051592
About as long as it takes for stores in your area to sell everything.
They may run out from Lego soon enough, but it's not like they're going to recall stock from actual stores.
>>6051575
>Better than Lance's horse from the first wave, not that that's a very high bar.
It's a robot horse that transforms into a pretty cool looking bike for like 20$ - I'm not sure what people were expecting.
If anything, Lance's bike from next year looks extremely lacklusters, even when considering the transforming gimmick.
>>6051597
I liked it as well, it's cool.
The only nexo set I don't like is macy's bike. It looks bad.
If I buy cheap lego star wars sets will I be able to hold onto them and make some money in a couple of years?
>>6051643
Depends on the set(s) in question
>>6051646
eclipse fighter?
I already have eclipse fighter and love it but found another for a really good price and wondering if buying it alongside encounter of jakku would be a waste or a good idea
The day I found bricklinks, I already spent a good amount of money. This would be my most legos owned so far. Putting together the Jurassic Park Jeep model. I still need like 30 or so parts. I skipped out on all the electronics for now, too expensive.
>>6051647
Dunno honestly, it doesn't have the same status as a TIE fighter or X-Wing since the thing is from the Freemaker Adventures and all.
>>6051664
its such a good set though.
or should i still get it and if it doesnt increase in value in a couple years give it as a present to one of my nephews?
>>6051666
Not saying it looks bad, it does have a nice design, and I think the gift for a relative sounds like the more realistic option.
>>6051672
or i could just forget about it and not spend the money
>>6051673
That is also an option yes
>>6051652
>This would be my most legos owned so far.
Welcome to bricklink. I've got a shelving unit full of legos and most of it is from bricklink, I almost never buy sets anymore.
>>6051647
While it might not be an iconic ship, i think the minifigs might be worth quite a bit in the future. Only guessing though
>>6051664
It's worth noting that TIEs and X-Wings will be updated in the future, while we likely won't see the Eclipse fighter again, potentially increasing its longterm value.
>>6051710
That might be so, but classics never go out of style, and let's be honest here, when someone looks up SW the first thing they're most likely gonna see is a fight scene with TIEs and X wings, not the Eclipse Fighter from a random spinoff series.
Why are the prices on bricklinks so up and down? Are they not selling genuine pieces or something? I have seen %500 increase to like negative %50, sometimes it's so cheap it makes no sense compared to everyone selling for that much.
why?
>>6051730
Part prices are usually related to the sets they come from, if the set is rare or very limited in number the parts will be very expensive, but if the set was not a big hit/popular their parts aren't worth too much.
>>6051298
it uses a couple of these too
>>6051457
I thought getting furious over trivial or mildly annoying things was a high testosterone thing.
>>6051287
I dunno, fear of ostracization or being generalised as a pedophile sex pervert or something?
Weird is a very loaded and doublesided term. I often use it in a very positive way because something is different, new and interesting, but people can also use it in a way that implies having characteristics they think are immoral or poorly executed.
I think it's ok if people think things you like are a little "weird" as long as they don't act like a bitch about it/treat you unjustly for it.
>>6051356
Useless/usefullness implies a certain goal that is worked towards. I don't believe in objective goals for humans.
Lego is a hobby that doesn't have "benefits" like some other hobbies (scholarships for when you're good at sports, cars > doubles with transportation and cheap maintenance). I think you should do in your off-time what you enjoy, not what is "usefull".
But probably the main reason why people look down on LEGO is because it is a toy and is associated with children and culture values being an adult even if that is a rather vague and subjective term.
I personally don't see much of a difference between sculpture, fashion design, drawing or building with danish building blocks. The main difference in the latter is having to work with a more limited supply of elements (because purismautism), but i personally like the challenge that limitation presents. It's basically a niche form of versatile sculpture that is more about re-interpreting and creatively using existing elements than laborous and crafty manipulation of raw resources. The fact that you can change and modify your work how and whenever you want and that it at the same time allows for a lot of interaction/playability is very attractive too.
>>6051398
If people can't tolerate my Lego collection i don't think i'll miss out on anything with them.
It'll get mad expensive if it is your sole hobby.
>>6051805
Weird means exercising one's real and actual ability to foresee accurately the future, in the form of prophecy.
>>6051843

I think Rebels is Disney's way of slowly letting the old EU stuff that doesn't clash with the stuff they're doing in the movies back in.
After all, it gave us motherfucking Thrawn
>>6051997
It became almost assured that Thrawn's going to be dead before episode IV
Unless they reveal that he survived/was assigned elsewhere, so as to come back in VIII even smarter, but I'd doubt that
>>6051997
Rebels season 3 is out? I need to watch it then.
>>6051999

>>6051967
Same, I spent around $80 on the Portal, Dr. Who, and Fantastic Beasts stuff and all I want are the minifigures. Insane discounts, I might go back for more.
Totally unrelated but Disney Infinity stuff is $3.99 a fig or so down from $14.99 which is tempting me as well.

>>6052111
Fair point. Though I could posit a theory: according to old canon, we know Thrawn dabbled with cloning; we know that the speed-cloning method he used in the Heir trilogy had connections to the Force (in regards to the "clone madness"); and we know that at least one of the Thrawn clones is assumed dead, but we're not sure because we didn't actually see it die. So, hypothetically, if I were to write a story where a Force-sensitive Thrawn clone existed, I could rationalize it.
Yes, that IS silly, but so were ZOMBIE STORMTROOPERS. So yeah.

I'm torn between buying the 1966 Batcave, or the same money's worth in Lego Batman Movie sets. I feel like I'll get more out of TLBM sets for their figs and builds, but I love the vintage aspect of the 1966 Batcave, and I know I'll hate myself for passing it by since it's unlikely we'll ever get 1966 Batman sets ever again. What do?
>>6052507
1966 will retire before the new batshit
>>6051999
What if Thrawn, Ezra, Ahsoka, Maul, Quinlan Vos, Kyle Katarn, & the lego kid have been with Luke this whole time?
>>6052507
Do you care about the '66 series that much? If so, go ahead and get it. The TLBM sets will stick around for a long time via restocking, and will definitely go on more sales than the TV Batcave ever will. You can always get those new sets later.
Plus you get to add the Adam West costume to the Batsuit gallery.
>>6052507
>>6052513
Also being an expensive set it's only going to get even more expensive, while the movie sets will probably be around $5-20 more than retail.

Thank you! This is exactly what I tell friends/family when they ask why I build with LEGO. I feel like it's the best way to actually describe the hobby

Do any of you anons recommend this set? I am kinda undecided whether to get the pic related or Jestro's Volcano lair. Both seem like really nice builds and I really want to get something caste-related and these sets seem to be the closest thing right now.
>>6052724
Can't speak for the Volcano Lair, but the Fortrex is a fun build with a lot of playability. After all, it's a building on motherfucking tank treads!
Get the Merlok's Library set if you want to use it as a static playset though. The extra wall is surprisingly good at making the thing feel bigger.
>>6052724
Yes, fucks yes.
It's a fucking tank castle.
Jestro's lair is awesome as well, get both.
>>6052729
How does it look/feel/play with the Library attached to both sides of the Fortrex?
>>6052735
It looks fine, the courtyard becomes a pentagon which is a nice shape, but if you're playing with it I'd open it up like the pic, as adult hands will have a hard time getting in there and moving things about.
Also, it still won't roll with the Library attached in that way as the back treads are offset at an angle.
I started building the lonely mountain and holy fuck Smaug is awesome. He is fuckhuge as well.
Looks so much better in real life than in photos which is weird.
I guess some might not like he is not brick built but honestly, I prefer him this way, kinda like a huge fig.
>>6052742
Smaug looks cool, but man did that set not look like it was enough of a Mountain to justify the cost (but I do understand it's because the dragon parts cost extra).
It would be cool to see some pics from you of Cumberbatch the Terrible along with the actual playset.
>>6052742

>>6052724
I don't think any anon here ever would disprove of buying this set. It's simply fantastic.
Just got this today. It's a pretty neat set to be used for decoration.
>>6052645
>Next Cavaliers
How much is this? This was on my list for next year, and boy is that list getting bigger as more pictures come out. We're not even counting summer waves.
>>6052724
You missed the $95-instead-of-$120 price on Jestro's Volcano, now it's $115. The Fortrex is still $79.99 down from $99.99 though.
>Hey Anon. Since you have your desk and closet filled with "those things", can't you just put them in some bags and then sell?
I fucking hate these questions. Hell, the relatively new stuff that most of my collection is, doesn't even sell that well.
>>6052746

>>6053059
Deli. Mini modulars ftw. That reminds me. Anyone mind sticking the Deli ndxt to an actual modular so I can see how it scales?
>>6053044
I don't remember any meme or anything but a wyvern has "hands" on its wings while a dragon is a 4-legged animal with handless wings.
>>6053029
nigga it fiction like nigga it aint real a wyvern or dragon is whatever you want it to be chill the fuck out
Anybody know how I could best make helmets similar to these?
Like with blank faces and rabbit ear antenna?
>>6053075
Well a wyvern has a spiked and potentially venomous tail so no, things are not whatever you want them to be. They are established.
>>6053089
Insectoid helmets with taped on leafs.
>>6053092
they're fictional dude anything can be whatever you want it to be in the context of the story
if i write a story with two foot tall seven legged furry creatures called wyverns then that's what wyverns are
if jackson made a flying scaly creature with two legs and wings and calls it a dragon, it's a fucking dragon
>>6053089
Travis brick + 1x1 tooth piece + your choice of tiles and cheese bricks for the face?
If lego made a simple helmet with studs on the sides, you could use that. I think all of the helmets with studs are bulky or the wrong style.
>>6052525
Man there are too many good Star Wars sets coming. Usually there are like two or three I can easily warrant not buying, but this next wave doesn't have a single set I don't want. I guess the skiff and the shuttle I could pass on, but they come with the new Han and Thrawn so I have to get them.

Roboforce is one of the few space themes that don't really appeal to me at all, so a complete redesign is in order, and I was thinking of taking it in a Bubblegum Crisis or Gundam direction.
Also, LQ's rejected Boba Fett the other day inspired me, so here's a bounty hunter in need of a name.
So, suggestions on roboforce guy or names for NotBoba?

I just have a funny green monster 2x4 arched brick that came in a happymeal.
I'd probably use them for decoration or commercial signs outside stores or whatever you call them. Or wacky robot monsters ofcourse.
>>6053284
You're lucky i wasn't even a year old yet when this set came out, those accessory packs look like fun. Seemed like the golden era of Lego with all the themes that were around.
>>6053299
I never got big sets as a kid. Lots of my bricks were hand me down. So getting new parts was really cool. I remember getting a castle parts pack (I think it was 10066) and being able to turn all my spacemen and city folk into knights. And that green ninja hood was the best.
Does anything fit into the mouth of these heads? (and stays in of course)
>>6053310
I can't find mine, but I'm pretty sure it fits a regular bar. There is also a hole in the back to put a bar so you can add a spike or something. Like 81% sure.
>>6053318
hmm ok
I was thinking of using them as water spouts or something so hopefully they can hold something
>>6053310
you can just about fit a minifighead in, but its loose enough to fall out,
>>6053107
Tolkien made that particular dragon and it was well described. Jackson cannot enact revisionist views of history and rewrite the original work by means of his shoddy CGI.

>>6053374
Hermione was a dragon.
Okay serious question guys. Why are there no good star wars or themed playset type sets. I mean sure we have 100 firehouses and police stations but not one quality base to display all my starfighters with. I mean look at this thing. 10 yr old me would have killed to land my xwings at something this cool.
>>6053450
Ster Wers has a ton of vehicles to play around with, for better or worse.
>>6053450
But that's when I'd land my custom TIE fighters at the Blacktron 2 base playet, across from the Blacktron 1 of such.
>>6053450
Nexo and ninjago both have good playsets
but star wars is mostly for ships for some reason
>>6053450
You do know that you can just build one yourself, right?
>>6052752
Shit I kinda want that. Something about Sand Green parts and gold hordes gets my dick wet.
>>6053461
Shh, don't blow his mind with logic
>>6053474
>logical reason
It's money.
Nice looking base would have to cost as much as modular buildings.
>>6053474
I dunno this Temple of Airjitsu is looking pretty sharp in its box over here, even after parking those TIE fighters.
>>6053474
A good star wars ship hub would easily be $100+ and people wouldnt want to pay for that
>>6053474
>looking for a logical reason they don't exist
Nexo and ninjago are 100% kids themes so they have playsets
Star Wars is half kids half adults, so they have low to mid priced ships for kids and a couple big set pieces for adults to display (AT-AT, star destroyer, death star ect). There are notable exceptions (like the ewok village) but they're outliers to be sure
>>6053487
Star wars fans are usually either armybuilders or ship collectors.
Most of them would not even look at shit like this unless it comes with 20 stormtroopers or new x-wing.
I have a question for you guys, do you:
>avoid stickers on your sets like yhe plague (not put them on)
>put all stickers on
>keep stickers off at first but add them after it pieces look bare/bland
Also if you put stickers on and take them off later do they leave glue residue?
>>6053494
I don't put them on nowadays, but I used to when I was younger.
>>6053494
I usually ignore them, but not always.
>>6053450
I bet you would enjoy the hoth UCS set
>>6053494
I don't add the stickers then try to replace where the stickered parts would be or rebuild the area so it looks correct without them. It's helped me get over breaking up full sets for MOCing, since I'm taking them apart but basically rebuilding them into the same thing.
It's a lot of fun for me, since my main problem with MOCs is actually tying a design together or deciding what to build, whereas 'improving' sets that exist is a good straightforward task.
>>6053494
I usually leave them off unless its a set I know will stay the way it is (big modulars, parts that are very specific ect)
everything else becomes an MOC or parts in the end so I don't bother
>>6053494
they don't leave much residue, I peel them off of bricklink and ebay sets all the time with minimal issue
>>6053494
I only ever applied them on Tiny Turbos because they look shite without
>>6053489
It's all for children. Every last set is designed for kids. LEGO has said this multiple times.
>>6053275
Go nuts anon, I love those big animal heads.
>got the Joker's Lowrider today

Actually it was del Toro.
Before he stepped down as director, he talked about Smaug and dragons and how no large creature had ever had six limbs.
>Del Toro wanted to be creative with the wing placement. "Dragon design can be broken into essentially two species," he explained at one point. Most had wings attached to the forelimbs. "The only other variation is the anatomically incorrect variation of the six-appendage creature"-four legs, like a horse, with two additional winged arms. "But there's no large creature on earth that has six appendages!" He had become frustrated while sketching dragons that followed these schemes. The journal had a discarded prototype. "Now, that's a dragon you've seen before," he said. "I just added these samurai legs. That doesn't work for me."
Although that said, he did play with the idea of giving him little t-rex-esq arms, so that he could make gestures while talking to Bilbo.
Oh and a quick source, if you want it

Since you missed the 20% discount on the Batcave I would go with the movie sets and hope that the Batcave discount returns.
>>6053509
> a gate with a computer behind it
UCS Hoth is so disappointing. They should have just turned 1980s Kenner and Micro Machines playsets into Lego models like Baronsat does. Incidentally the Ewok Village is a copy of a Kenner playset and probably the best playset because of it.
>>6053450
I would say the 500$ Death Star is also a great playset but the only vehicles you can combine it with are Microfighters.
Easiest way would be to just build some yourself, there are enough Kenner toys to draw inspiration from.
>>6053920
The baseplates are worth far more than 10 cents, for a correct equation you should price them at a couple of dollars. But I still think it would be cheaper to buy the pieces individually from Bricklink.
>>6054209
>we could get this
>instead we will get another remake of the other shitty deathster set

>>6055057
Citizen Brick is a third party custom maker. They print on legit lego pieces, so the quality is top notch.
They have those "THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL" warnings all over their site, and they HAVE made figures and parts for major motion pictures/tv shows at the behest of the companies that made them, so maybe lego just turns a blind eye to these guys, because seriously, are stripper torsos, random zombie/military heads and a big lebowski figure set really going to take away from megacorp LEGO and their profit margins?
A lesson other companies (im looking at you, Games Workshop) need to learn.

Are you sure they even have any of the free tins left? They had a really nice set of minifig heads printed to look like ornaments, they sold out within three minutes of going up on the site, we timed it. That shows you how popular they are and how fast their unique stuff sells out (either that or they do extremely limited runs).
And I agree, that is one issue I have with CB, they dont have ENOUGH shit on their site. They used to have dozens and dozens of custom figures, they even did an entire line for Game of Thrones (which china has recently started knocking off with hilarious looking results), if they would just reprint some of the past ones....
We ended up having to order a shirt from them on top of the regular order to meet the quota for the free figs. Nice shirt design, poor quality shirt, sadly.

I'm a really big fan of Marvel, but I only really collect the comicbook sets, the movie minifigures are typically way overprinted(with a few exceptions) and it just looks too busy for my taste. I feel like with a body as a simplistic as the minifigures excessive printing hurts more than helps.

I think he's using he demon bear powers to levitate the tray with a cup and potion above the sparkling purple plate. Also pink bird is making a pot of cherries on the camping stove.
>>6055233
Yes. It's probably a summer wave outfit.
>>6054889

Lego has big enough gaps to let the rain in, if you were being realistic, you gronk.
>>6055263
Nice. If you need help translating just ask. Really wanna see if you can reverse engineer that

It looks like that circle would closer to perfectly round if you raised the cheese slope 2nd from the bottom by one plate. Idk if there is room in the ship for that change
>>6055060

>>6056059
No kidding. What a great fucken set. Wasn't even aware it seated minfigures when I bought it.

>>6056059
>>6056196
So its settled,
I just perchased one.
now what would be the best helmet for proper helmets?
clone pilots?
rebel pilot?
im fine with getting a star wars minifig but are there any without a rebel, republic or empire emblem
>>6056209
No helmets
Just afros
>>6056196
Honestly the only nitpick I had with the set was the tiny holes where the wings meet the body, but that was a super simple fix.
>>6056209
As far as I know there aren't really any "realistic" jet pilot helmets. Personally I'd just get one of those new pilot helmets and just brasso off the prints. But not everyone agrees with such methods.
>>6056218
I wonder how well this would fit with the original rebel pilot helmets
>>6056223
fuck
>>6054252
