Made some updates since last night, added a couple of connection points because it's going to become part of a larger modular ship.

Unrelated, but any suggestions on what Dungeons and Dragons monsters I should attempt building next? I was thinking of attempting a Gelatinous Cube using below link but hate that I'd have to pay fuck-you prices for 2 of those plates.

>>
>>6051319
I say this as a frequent poster in the general, not coming in here to shit on you:

The tribal fear of difference, as a reason to shame you, is awful. But societal norms do indicate a real cost to having lego as a hobby. Investing your time and money into a hobby like Lego DOES have an opportunity cost. With all that time and money (and you only have so much time in your life), you could have been doing something useful. Everyone knows this, even if only subconciously, which is why lego is viewed as neutral at best.

Everyone indulges in useless and harmful activities, of course. There's no need to optimize every second of your life. But please do realize that there is a valid reason not to play with lego as an adult, and a reason why others will comment on it.
>>
>>6051356
As a college student is it statistically worth bothering with Lego? I doubt really have many other hobbies or things I genuinely enjoy doing without force, and I'm concerned that the stigma of Lego will cost me valuable opportunities.
>>
>>6051184

noice

>You are illegally parked on private property. You have twenty seconds to move your vehicle.
>>
>>6051287
Because you're oversensitive and lack self-confidence.
>>
>>6051398
I'm not one to talk, but absolutely don't get into it in college if you can help it. It also depends on what else you have going on. If it's one of a few hobbies, or if you're an engineering student or something, maybe? The positive aspect of lego is the creativity, and the collecting bit is cancer.

The """""""normal""""" thing to do is drop it as a kid, and pick it up when you have kids and have an excuse.
>>
>>6051398
I'm at uni and aside from a Lego Mystery Machine on my desk - which most people think is pretty cool - I'm consciously avoiding buying Lego, which is heartbreaking watching some brilliant sets go by, especially with Lego Batman.

>>
How much longer is the first wave of Nexo Nights going to be available?
>>
>>6051592
About as long as it takes for stores in your area to sell everything.

They may run out from Lego soon enough, but it's not like they're going to recall stock from actual stores.
>>
>>6051575
>Better than Lance's horse from the first wave, not that that's a very high bar.

It's a robot horse that transforms into a pretty cool looking bike for like 20$ - I'm not sure what people were expecting.
If anything, Lance's bike from next year looks extremely lacklusters, even when considering the transforming gimmick.
>>
>>6051597

I liked it as well, it's cool.

The day I found bricklinks, I already spent a good amount of money. This would be my most legos owned so far. Putting together the Jurassic Park Jeep model. I still need like 30 or so parts. I skipped out on all the electronics for now, too expensive.
>>
>>6051647
Dunno honestly, it doesn't have the same status as a TIE fighter or X-Wing since the thing is from the Freemaker Adventures and all.
>>
>>6051664
its such a good set though.

or should i still get it and if it doesnt increase in value in a couple years give it as a present to one of my nephews?
>>
>>6051666
Not saying it looks bad, it does have a nice design, and I think the gift for a relative sounds like the more realistic option.
>>
>>6051672
or i could just forget about it and not spend the money
>>
>>6051673
That is also an option yes
>>
>>6051652
>This would be my most legos owned so far.

Welcome to bricklink. I've got a shelving unit full of legos and most of it is from bricklink, I almost never buy sets anymore.
>>
>>6051647
While it might not be an iconic ship, i think the minifigs might be worth quite a bit in the future. Only guessing though
>>
>>6051664
It's worth noting that TIEs and X-Wings will be updated in the future, while we likely won't see the Eclipse fighter again, potentially increasing its longterm value.
>>
>>6051710
That might be so, but classics never go out of style, and let's be honest here, when someone looks up SW the first thing they're most likely gonna see is a fight scene with TIEs and X wings, not the Eclipse Fighter from a random spinoff series.
>>
Why are the prices on bricklinks so up and down? Are they not selling genuine pieces or something? I have seen %500 increase to like negative %50, sometimes it's so cheap it makes no sense compared to everyone selling for that much.

why?
>>
>>6051730
Part prices are usually related to the sets they come from, if the set is rare or very limited in number the parts will be very expensive, but if the set was not a big hit/popular their parts aren't worth too much.

I thought getting furious over trivial or mildly annoying things was a high testosterone thing.

>>6051287
I dunno, fear of ostracization or being generalised as a pedophile sex pervert or something?
Weird is a very loaded and doublesided term. I often use it in a very positive way because something is different, new and interesting, but people can also use it in a way that implies having characteristics they think are immoral or poorly executed.
I think it's ok if people think things you like are a little "weird" as long as they don't act like a bitch about it/treat you unjustly for it.

>>6051356
Useless/usefullness implies a certain goal that is worked towards. I don't believe in objective goals for humans.
Lego is a hobby that doesn't have "benefits" like some other hobbies (scholarships for when you're good at sports, cars > doubles with transportation and cheap maintenance). I think you should do in your off-time what you enjoy, not what is "usefull".
But probably the main reason why people look down on LEGO is because it is a toy and is associated with children and culture values being an adult even if that is a rather vague and subjective term.
I personally don't see much of a difference between sculpture, fashion design, drawing or building with danish building blocks. The main difference in the latter is having to work with a more limited supply of elements (because purismautism), but i personally like the challenge that limitation presents. It's basically a niche form of versatile sculpture that is more about re-interpreting and creatively using existing elements than laborous and crafty manipulation of raw resources. The fact that you can change and modify your work how and whenever you want and that it at the same time allows for a lot of interaction/playability is very attractive too.

>>6051398
If people can't tolerate my Lego collection i don't think i'll miss out on anything with them.
It'll get mad expensive if it is your sole hobby.
>>
>>6051805
Weird means exercising one's real and actual ability to foresee accurately the future, in the form of prophecy.

Fair point. Though I could posit a theory: according to old canon, we know Thrawn dabbled with cloning; we know that the speed-cloning method he used in the Heir trilogy had connections to the Force (in regards to the "clone madness"); and we know that at least one of the Thrawn clones is assumed dead, but we're not sure because we didn't actually see it die. So, hypothetically, if I were to write a story where a Force-sensitive Thrawn clone existed, I could rationalize it.

Yes, that IS silly, but so were ZOMBIE STORMTROOPERS. So yeah.

Thank you! This is exactly what I tell friends/family when they ask why I build with LEGO. I feel like it's the best way to actually describe the hobby

Can't speak for the Volcano Lair, but the Fortrex is a fun build with a lot of playability. After all, it's a building on motherfucking tank treads!

Get the Merlok's Library set if you want to use it as a static playset though. The extra wall is surprisingly good at making the thing feel bigger.

How does it look/feel/play with the Library attached to both sides of the Fortrex?
>>
>>6052735
It looks fine, the courtyard becomes a pentagon which is a nice shape, but if you're playing with it I'd open it up like the pic, as adult hands will have a hard time getting in there and moving things about.

Also, it still won't roll with the Library attached in that way as the back treads are offset at an angle.

Looks okay I suppose. I just wish there was a helmet I could use so that I could fit a head underneath.

Roboforce is one of the few space themes that don't really appeal to me at all, so a complete redesign is in order, and I was thinking of taking it in a Bubblegum Crisis or Gundam direction.

Also, LQ's rejected Boba Fett the other day inspired me, so here's a bounty hunter in need of a name.

So, suggestions on roboforce guy or names for NotBoba?

Okay serious question guys. Why are there no good star wars or themed playset type sets. I mean sure we have 100 firehouses and police stations but not one quality base to display all my starfighters with. I mean look at this thing. 10 yr old me would have killed to land my xwings at something this cool.
>>
>>6053450
Ster Wers has a ton of vehicles to play around with, for better or worse.
>>
>>6053450
But that's when I'd land my custom TIE fighters at the Blacktron 2 base playet, across from the Blacktron 1 of such.

>>
>>6053474
I dunno this Temple of Airjitsu is looking pretty sharp in its box over here, even after parking those TIE fighters.
>>
>>6053474
A good star wars ship hub would easily be $100+ and people wouldnt want to pay for that
>>
>>6053478
But they still make those... and I assume they sell. So it's can't be that. Star wars fans are... Savage they would easily pay up

>>6053480
Something about those paper wall pieces. That set is definitely on my short list for asap purchase
>>
>>6053474
>looking for a logical reason they don't exist
Nexo and ninjago are 100% kids themes so they have playsets
Star Wars is half kids half adults, so they have low to mid priced ships for kids and a couple big set pieces for adults to display (AT-AT, star destroyer, death star ect). There are notable exceptions (like the ewok village) but they're outliers to be sure
>>
>>6053487
Star wars fans are usually either armybuilders or ship collectors.
Most of them would not even look at shit like this unless it comes with 20 stormtroopers or new x-wing.
>>
I have a question for you guys, do you:
>avoid stickers on your sets like yhe plague (not put them on)
>put all stickers on
>keep stickers off at first but add them after it pieces look bare/bland

Also if you put stickers on and take them off later do they leave glue residue?
>>
>>6053494
I don't put them on nowadays, but I used to when I was younger.
>>
>>6053494
I usually ignore them, but not always.
>>
>>6053497
>>6053500
Thing is i just got back into lego and bought a set and it had a fuck ton of stickers so i put them on and am mainly regretting it, so i think from now on im gunna stick with option 3
>>
>>6053450
I bet you would enjoy the hoth UCS set
>>
>>6053494
I don't add the stickers then try to replace where the stickered parts would be or rebuild the area so it looks correct without them. It's helped me get over breaking up full sets for MOCing, since I'm taking them apart but basically rebuilding them into the same thing.

It's a lot of fun for me, since my main problem with MOCs is actually tying a design together or deciding what to build, whereas 'improving' sets that exist is a good straightforward task.
>>
>>6053494
I usually leave them off unless its a set I know will stay the way it is (big modulars, parts that are very specific ect)
everything else becomes an MOC or parts in the end so I don't bother
>>
>>6053494
they don't leave much residue, I peel them off of bricklink and ebay sets all the time with minimal issue

Actually it was del Toro.
Before he stepped down as director, he talked about Smaug and dragons and how no large creature had ever had six limbs.

>Del Toro wanted to be creative with the wing placement. "Dragon design can be broken into essentially two species," he explained at one point. Most had wings attached to the forelimbs. "The only other variation is the anatomically incorrect variation of the six-appendage creature"-four legs, like a horse, with two additional winged arms. "But there's no large creature on earth that has six appendages!" He had become frustrated while sketching dragons that followed these schemes. The journal had a discarded prototype. "Now, that's a dragon you've seen before," he said. "I just added these samurai legs. That doesn't work for me."

Although that said, he did play with the idea of giving him little t-rex-esq arms, so that he could make gestures while talking to Bilbo.

Oh and a quick source, if you want it

Mostly environmental reasons, it was only once i stopped that it started to sink in how I distanced myself from how it's made in a cognitive dissonance type of deal.

I occasionally cheat with fatty fish, i think i could murder those.
But when i walk past the raw meat in the aisle at a store i think, "nah i don't want that".
But when i walk past a restaurant that cooks meat it still smells absolutely delicious.
Stopping meat is way easier than it seems though, and this is coming from someone with almost no self-control.

UCS Hoth is so disappointing. They should have just turned 1980s Kenner and Micro Machines playsets into Lego models like Baronsat does. Incidentally the Ewok Village is a copy of a Kenner playset and probably the best playset because of it.

I would say the 500$ Death Star is also a great playset but the only vehicles you can combine it with are Microfighters.

Easiest way would be to just build some yourself, there are enough Kenner toys to draw inspiration from.

Why is Barbara Gordon on there twice?
>>
>>6054928
The front looks like ass too, what did you expect? Lego knows this set is ass. Why else do you think they shoved it full of minifigs?

welcome to the club anon

I'd email them. might get a replacement, but you'll have to tell them what set it came from, maybe include a code from the manual.
>>
>>6055057
Citizen Brick is a third party custom maker. They print on legit lego pieces, so the quality is top notch.

They have those "THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL" warnings all over their site, and they HAVE made figures and parts for major motion pictures/tv shows at the behest of the companies that made them, so maybe lego just turns a blind eye to these guys, because seriously, are stripper torsos, random zombie/military heads and a big lebowski figure set really going to take away from megacorp LEGO and their profit margins?

A lesson other companies (im looking at you, Games Workshop) need to learn.
>>
>>6055066
It's a double edged sword
The more detail a fig has, the less uses it has. There's really not much else you can use that villain for but a ninjago villain
>>
>>6055112
Double edged swords only work on those with weak hands.
>>
>>6054951
Their parents are the villains. Calling it now. The set that includes thes two hooded figs includes Nya, Kai, and two spare adult hair pieces.
>>
>>6054896
I'd buy a set at that price. Hit me up. [email protected]

>>
>>6055162
Are you sure they even have any of the free tins left? They had a really nice set of minifig heads printed to look like ornaments, they sold out within three minutes of going up on the site, we timed it. That shows you how popular they are and how fast their unique stuff sells out (either that or they do extremely limited runs).

And I agree, that is one issue I have with CB, they dont have ENOUGH shit on their site. They used to have dozens and dozens of custom figures, they even did an entire line for Game of Thrones (which china has recently started knocking off with hilarious looking results), if they would just reprint some of the past ones....

We ended up having to order a shirt from them on top of the regular order to meet the quota for the free figs. Nice shirt design, poor quality shirt, sadly.

It's an updated mold, but the Dino theme introduced lime green ones and they've since come out in light bley and light blue.

I agree with this 100%.
I'm a really big fan of Marvel, but I only really collect the comicbook sets, the movie minifigures are typically way overprinted(with a few exceptions) and it just looks too busy for my taste. I feel like with a body as a simplistic as the minifigures excessive printing hurts more than helps.

As far as I know there aren't really any "realistic" jet pilot helmets. Personally I'd just get one of those new pilot helmets and just brasso off the prints. But not everyone agrees with such methods.
