I'm not really sold on the uniters yet

While I appreciate their design from a perspective of pushing CCBS, just don't feel like they are as distinctive as I would like. The 2015 toa were pretty cool even if they were lacking

What?
>>
>>5379808
As if there's a good way to do that.
Kopaka ad Gali are easy, swap legs from their 2015 versions, but the rest are a lot trickier because of limited colors for bones.
Sacrificing color coherence for sensible proportions is something nobody should have to deal with, Goddammit.
You know, we never had to deal with that shit in G1. Inika limbs came in all shapes and colors, and there were plenty in each set. Now we have limited color choice based on size and vice versa.
>Want a Toa with long legs? As long as the colorscheme you want involves black, gray and/or trans-light blue, you got it.
>>
>>5379838
Swap Lewa's 5m forearms for the 6m bone and he's perfect.

RoboTupac update 1: construction on the torso has begun. Attempting a biomechanics like vibe, hence the use of the Ben 10 torso. The attached HF 1.0 torso is for bulk, and because the secon head ballpoint allows for movement of his B.A.N.T.S (Bitch Ass Nigga Tareting System). I am also listening to Tupac radio on Pandora for inspiration.
>>
>>5379814

I'd love to see that but I doubt they'd make it just for one set.

If they opt for the "out of budget, sorry guys" option Ekimu is going to be a gold and trans light blue Pohatu with a hammer and the Mask of Creation, maybe not even recolored.
We might get some exclusive recolors (torso shell, mask..) or possibly a MoCr remold if we're really lucky.
But since he's the first in the set list he's most likely a mid size set, so I'm not getting my hopes up for anything amazing.
>>
>>5379871
It would be ridiculous to give Ekimu that long torso imo.
It could be used on the beasts and Umarak TD too.

Like making Umarak TD's upper torso from two of those and connecting arms to the hip piece.

Ekimu is of the smaller sized sets, along with the beasts. Umarak the Destroyer is a bit more expensive than the larger sets we've been getting. The same price as 2016 Kopaka.

I could've sworn we had this discussion last year. Tripfags arent terrible as a whole, just unessary tripfagging is. the only tripfags who have any business tripfagging are:

-those who have made MOCs and are posting them with explanations
-anons asking for critism on their MOCs
-storytelling anons
-anons giving critiques (and even then its not really necessary)

Indigo tripfagged too much, and has learned his lesson. And I like to think Eggo learned his lesson as well. B6 isnt even a good example, hes just a bunch of people doing it for a joke that only they find funny.

Basically, dont namefag unless you need to.

>>5379815
>>5379861
Is necessary.

>>5379951
>branding an image as their own is attention whoring
Yes it is you thick-headed fuck. Not a SINGLE other tripfag brands their images. We dont care about you, we care about your project. Go on reddit if you want fucking recognition. Here, your merit is determined by the quality of your build, not how fucking hard you shill it. If your build was good enough to steal, people would fucking replicate it. You dont own a fucking building technique, you cant call the damn cyber police on them. Fuck.

nah man the other generals make fun of us because Lego general hates Bionicle with a passion and in 2015 we had extremely fast threads that filled up the catalog a bit. Its only like, 1/5 threads that start with complaining about the OP, its not a huge problem here.

Upper torso of RoboTupac now in prototype stages. It's just as shitty as it looks. Not very solid, kind of a mess, there isn't even a way to attach his arms. This is probably getting scrapped, and CCBS Vader is getting demolished for parts.
>>
>>5380116
For a lot of people it's probably a number of factors:
>Don't have the photography skills to take a good picture
>Their parents get rid of their Bionicle parts long ago so they have no old parts to MOC with
>Skipped Hero Factory / Chima so have very little CCBS and don't want to take apart the new sets
>Don't necessarily have an interest in / skill for MOCing
>Have no good ideas for what to MOC (this is one my issue)
>>
>>5380013
>You dont own a fucking building technique, you cant call the damn cyber police on them.
At no point did I even imply that, you pulled that argument out of your ass and you know it. AT BEST, a watermark is a way to say "I own this IMAGE." There was no point where it became "I own everything WITHIN this image."

Because most of the time people just ignore them. And its not even because theyre sub-par either. People just dont seem to care. We have a few I remember, like AnchorArms' Axonn and Brutaka MOCs, ChiroxAnon's Chirox Anon, Indigobro's self MOC, and Fisherman MOC.

But people like >>5380139 might be the reason other anons avoid replying to MOCs.
Watermarking is the visual equivalent of pitch shifting or DRM on software. Youre sacrificing clarity and quality of your product just to let people know its "your property". Post it on your deviant art if you want people to know its your image. And to be honest its actually a good MOC, stop being an ass. Learn from my goddamn example, because I was a bigger ass than you are when I first got here.

I mean, for the stone region and Pohatu it looks great, and I can see it with Gali where it looks like it's about to storm; Tahu and Onua are pretty well-colored too. It's mostly how washed out Lewa and Kopaka look. But I suppose you're right about it being more natural, since it does help to remove these animations from the ultra-vibrant 2015 webisodes.

I guess I'll quit my bitchin. In other news, I got Lewa and Uxar (?) today. Torso is way too long for the limbs provided. The stubbiness was easily avoidable with some longer bones, and shoulder balls being constructed differently. An extra two crystal armor pieces would've been great, but oh well. 7.5/10 from me.Uxar is cool, that wing function is great. 9/10, esp for a small set.

The tires were a fill in for the Ben 10 arm joints I didnt have at the time. His final update is very different. Ill upload a dissection of the arms in a bit. Theyre the only huge development his model really made. Most of My Mocs use a very simple body that just seems complicated. Not Inika build simple, but more or less smart parts use, like syoya whos Core hunter I dissected to come up with a lot of other techniques. When he gave us all the answers in the end, Ill be honest, I kinda felt insulted, because I figured out all of the body but the vertically placed vahki hip. Never would've guessed. Indigo actually uses this build. Well at least his last three current builds do.

A big problem with this general is the obsession with leaks.

Here's a dissection of my double jointed arm. Basically i invented it because out of A and B, neither had a very realistic range of motion. So being the articulation fag I am, I started looking into other toylines to see how they rectified this. SaS uses a similar joint in their figures. There are more compact ways o do this connection, but this one is the sturdiest. i prefer to have my models as reliable as possible.

I feel when done right, Rahkshi Mocs offer some useful building techniques, but often they are like yours. They sacrifice stability and grace for bionic tiddies. And Ive seen Nuva tiddies done well, and thats the craziest part. Often what kills a MOC is "trying too hard". they also bleed the crawlinginmyskinthesewoundswillneverheal kind of feel. They feel immature, like youre attached to something you wont let go of. Not trying to shit on your tatse, its just the way I see it.

Good MOCs had had praise before and bad MOCs had had criticism as well, if your MOC doesn't get any replies it's not a sign to stop making and/or posting them, it's a sign to keep trying.

If you need others to tell you you need to improve then your doing it wrong.
You should always be your first critic, and always strife to do better than last time.
Second opinions are very useful for when -you- think a MOC is good so you can gain a different perspective

tl;dr stop being a fag and do MOCs dammit

Basically its a tried and true kind of MOC that relies on some dated and bad techniques, and im not even talking about the feet on that thing, that connection is actually legal. Im talking about the overlapping parts, it warps one of them so it permanently bends a specific way. The lower torso and shoulders are extremely pleasing to look at though. You should try to flesh out the rest of it more. The legs are simple in structure (which isnt always bad ) but they look like basic piraka legs with tacked on bits as do the lower arms. And as >>5380312 said, tires are usually the laziest method you can use. This MOCs a good example of femininity without resorting to super illegal methods.
>>
>>5380608

I'm pretty beginner level in terms of MOCs, for some reason I'm not clever with complex builds.

Picked up a clearance Skull Baster at Target for $10 and went to the Lego Store in hopes of finally getting started on Star Wars, but ALL THE CCBS Star Wars was sold out, not even goddamn Finn left.

So for the time being I was conflicted with getting the two pack with Kopaka and is buddy two pack and Onua. I just settled with Onua because he's my favorite Toa.

I'd get Pohatu, but I feel like I'd have to revamp the new one with like Rey parts or something.

Man, cracked joints aside the Av-Matoran still sucked, and Kirop was my favorite. It may have been helped with Kirop being the only one I got that year with a pair with Chirox. I got the other two Makuta and the three light Matoran.

I was so out of it for the Mistika somehow the only set from that wave I own is Gali.

Anyways, reconstituted Kirop and Mask of Time for proof it's me.
>>
>>5381145
I think they MIGHT bring back the first one, actually. Or something similar. Looking at the animations, Mask Maker Makuta's translucent accent is clearly trans dark pink, (which most people mistake for trans purple.)

In the rare event that we actually get a Mask Maker Makuta figure at some point, there's a slim possibility that the color could return. In CCBS, no less.
>>
>>5379900
I hope that means we're getting a really big CCBS figure, like Grievous or Witch Doctor style. I'd love to see how they pull off a large figure like that but with technic and functions mixed in.

Ah, but there is enough material between him, his 2015 version, the creature and protector as well as the starwars sets to make some fine-ass stone bros with. In fact, I can almost say the sheer concentration of stone colors in starwars sets may even justify the lack of stone colors in the bionicle line itself, as with the two lines combined they, black and white have the highest parts count.

the Star wars figures take up slots from the Star wars sets, which pisses a few people off.

>>5381880
yeah but Hero Factory was basically just used for a way to develop CCBS without fucking Bionicle any more than they already had with the last few terrible waves of models. And now that they're done with it? It's out the window.
>>
>>5381880
To be fair, they cancelled Bionicle before they created Hero Factory, hell, from Greg F, it went as follows:
>Bionicle team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, you're line's cancelled!"
>Then tell them to come up with something else
>Eventually some person/people come up with the concept of Hero Factory
>Thats what we get
This was probably decided at some point in 2009, and is why the stars were a thing.
>>
Is bionicle.com being weird for anyone else? The story section doesn't load at all and the products section is just an empty page. Maybe that means they're currently in the process of updating it with 2016 stuff.

>>5381905
This reboot sure follows Hero Factory's example of lack luster, rushed, story telling. But at least its better than Star Wars will ever be.
>>
>>5381909
To be fair, the lackluster rushed storytelling only affects everything related to the animations, the first half of the year, as well as the second half to an extent, were saved by the two books and graphic novel, sadly the battle with the skull fuckers is doomed to be forever lackluster thanks to the animations, but the protectors adventures at the time (book 2) at least add some interest to that whole part (and explain what happened to the unconscious bodies of Skull Basher and Kulta so that's something)

>>
>>5381905
Close, but not quite. It went more like this:
>Bionicle team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, you're line's cancelled!"
>Use STARS as field-testing for simplified sets
>Use knowledge to make Hero Factory
>A year passes
>Hero Factory team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, Bionicle's coming back! You've got three years, so make it count!"
>Constraction Team uses HF as field-testing for new building system
>Pass half-assed ideas to Marvel IP as budget-cover
>Use knowledge to make new Bionicle sets
>Continue to pass half-assed ideas to licensed IPs as budget-cover
>>
>>5381920
In all fairness, the bulk of the Bionicle canon wasn't really established until two years after the line was released.
No disrespect to MNOG (it was fucking amazing) but it was, at the end of the day, really just cover put out by a third party to buy TLG some time. It's not really any different from the current animations and mobile game, only the presentation differs.

That reminds me of that fake Toa Ignika leak which was basically a (not very good) Titan version of Matoro wearing the silver Ignika.
It would've made sense if the Toa Ignika set took some design cues from Matoro Mahri, starting from the color scheme or part of it.
But that couldn't happen due to G1's modus operandi which mostly amounted to "let's design random stuff and then slap a name on it", which showed with sets like the 2008 Toa Nuva. That happened even in subtler cases: why would Toa Nuju's Mask of Telekinesis even need an eyepiece? But that was par of the course with all Ice Toa sets back then so no one stopped designers from adding it to the Mask. Glad G2 is avoiding this behavior- and to be fair, for all the problems it had Hero Factory avoided it too.

Dunno what the heck was the deal with the keetorange. Maybe it was supposed to resemble gold, like Toa Mata Nui. Bionicle G1 was so stingy with gold, it wasn't until Rocka on HF that we got the first gold constraction figure.

>Makuta's Avatar

As with all Great Masks, without the influence of a wearer or suitably contained, the Mask of Control has a will of its own.
Assembled from the remains of Makuta's fallen lieutenants and driven by ancient machinery, the mask's new host body is a suitable -- albeit fragile -- container for its new body. The fragments of memory and emotional imprints from its previous wearer drive it to unknown ends.
Though it has seemingly preferred to avoid direct conflict thus far, Protectors and villagers have reportedly seen it scavenging unreclaimed areas of the Great City.
Whether these actions reflect a dim recollection of its previous life of creation, or serve darker motives, remains to be seen.

Coincidentally, the same seller also had Rockoh T3 for the same price. Picked up the Jetrax T6 for $25 the next year.

For some reason I find that the 2015 Toa start looking really awkward looking when stood beside their 2016 counterparts for whatever reason. Kopaka and Gali dont suffer from this too much, but overall as polished as last year's sets look, they start losing their charm somehow next to the new ones in my opinion (even without your respectable reworks)

Picked up Gali and Lewa today, here are so e of my thoughts:

Lewa 2016 might be one of my most favorite Toa ever-- his design reminds me of a mechanical shock trooper of sorts. His color scheme is pretty solid as well, I like it more than 2015 Lewa's. Though if I did have one complaint, it would have to be length of his arms.

Gali on the other hand is pretty 'meh' to me. Her colors are unique, but her build and weapon is 0retty average. 2015 Gali's mask is better, but not a whole lot.

While 4M fits, I think the best compromise between look and articulations is using 3M shells in with the thick part at the top. Still the shell tends to bump against the bohrok eye which can be a bit annoying but it does look very good and I may keep it like that.

It's a very strange situation, the text to speech voices and the fact that it is technically just a guy moving toys around keeping his hand out of frame would make one instantly believe its going to be shitty, but then the directing and special effects are ridiculously well done, resulting in a finished product that ends up being way better than it has any right to be.

I don't post MOCs often for a number of reasons. My camera and lighting is shite and since a lot of my MOCs are in dark colours (not to be edgy, I just prefer earth sets), you can't really see the construction. I've also got so many half-built MOCs that I never get around to finishing. The third reason is that my MOCs aren't that great because I try to keep them in a similar style to the G1 figures. For example, my Toa Mata and Toa Metru MOCs will always have the original torso (partly because I have to use the gearboxes for something), though I lock the gears in place and add ball joints to the shoulders. The only original thing I've done, unless someone else has done it before me, is make a non-heretical articulated neck for Toa Mata builds. I'm working on Metru shoulders, which I know has been done before, but I want to find a better way to make them. Has anyone got examples of theirs? I'll get a picture of mine in a bit.
>>
>>5380180
Couldn't you just wait for the Star Wars CCBS to become cheap and pick up a few of those?
>>
>>5380239

>>
why do the 2016 toa look stubby leg as fuck
>>
>>5382521
They don't. They just don't have comically long legs like everything from Inika onwards.
>>
>>5382521
Honestly its a LOT worse in pictures than in person. It's mostly because their Torso's are so long, it works completely fine for Tahu since his legs are ridiculously long anyway so it balances out, but the others end up looking a little short as a result. i find holding the sets though they seem fine.
>>
>>5382054

I was that person, thanks!
>>
>>5382528
I guess I'm just used to the old legs. Metru looked good imo though

>>5382530

>>
>>5382079

Now that I see it worn, I like the Mask of Control a lot more.
>>
Why do the Piraka have that stubby arm again? I don't remember if there was a reason, other than it being a species thing.
>>

>>
>>5382043
This picture makes Lewa look like his legs arent stubby as fuck!

Did you just get the crystal armors from another lewa or something?
>>
>>5382105
A cousin gave me a near-complete Axalara for free since he was moving away and he knew I was into Bonkles. It's a shame that I've slowly been removing parts from it to build other things. It's basically a skeleton now. I'll see if there's another half-complete one for cheap at a car boot sale somewhere. I could combine the two and still have a few parts left over for a Kane-ra MOC or something.
>>
>>5382581
nevermind im a fucking idiot
>>
>>5382581
The legs are not stubby mind you. It's just that the torso is a bit long looking with the arms that are way too short. Making the arms longer goes a long way. Also for the cristal add-ons, I just took the ones from Lewa's forearms, that's all.

>>5382531
No problem, I'm happy to help.
>>
>>5382272
Unless you're the person who made Toa Gudgye, you should be sent to Karzhani for that level of heresy. That doesn't look like an accidental snap to me.
>>
>>5382558
I have no idea. A more important question, however, is this: why the fuck did they slightly change the colours of the plastic and never use those colours again? Thok and Avak are the biggest offenders, though Vezok and Hakann have small colour changes. I doubt that every Piraka part I have was stored in direct sunlight until I bought them.
>>
>>5382613
Thok was off-white because the head was normal white already and isn't Avak just normal reddish brown? Lego replaced normal brown with that in 2004 or so
>>
>>5382613
>>5382622
This. Had there been brown sets after Avak, they would've been same shade.
>>
>>5382622
The off-white looked terrible in my opinion. I would have been fine with a standard white. That doesn't explain why the others had odd colours while the Toa Inika had the same colours as the Toa Metru.
>>
>>5382638
At least on BL the remaining four are dark green, dark blue, dark red and black like everyone else.

But I dunno. Maybe the big lump of rubber absorbs color differently.
>>
>>5382638
Does there have to be a reason? 2005 was the first flop of Bonkle so they tried something completely different.
>>
>>5382655
2005 was a flop? i always felt it was, but if it was confirmed for floppin, then holy shit, its kinda what they get for trying to sell the worst canister sets ever.

little pink bits are clay from when I was making part of the mold

can't seem to get them off

The mold I made is inherently flawed in construction, when I get more money I can make a better one. See, the air bubble holes fucking up the front of the mask are because I didn't make proper air channels. Air rises to the top of the mold (the front of the mask) and fucks shit up.

I'll keep seeing what I can do with this mold, maybe the next one will be better. I'm using solid resin right now because transparent resin takes at least 4 hours to cure, or at least that was the case with the naval miniature battleship I duped as a simple test. I've heard transparent resin with color additives takes even longer to solidify.

The best of the wave by far, even though tahu is my least favorite Toa

Lewa has short arms, weird shoulders, and a really big chin on his mask

(Props for cohesive color scheme, if a bit heavy on the silver)

Pohatu's color scheme is a bit of a mess and he's really unarmored from the back (nice mask though.)

Onua is easily 2nd place although is build is a bit gappy and the huge feet are pretty dumb now that he's not as bulky (silver on the Mask doesn't fit.)

Gali is okay, her arms are short and the assymetric build is unique but could've been done better (that manjaw kills the Mask. As well as the silver not fitting.)

Kopaka has some rather gappy upper arms, a really bad balance of colors with nearly all the dark blue being on his wrists, along with white and light blue and silver and gray. The little shooter is a bit lazy as well, like they just gave him last wave's weapon.

Overall, I think the entire wave would have looked much better if they either dropped the silver blended into the masks, or incorporated silver into every toa's armor instead of gold, orange, etc, (would've made them even more similar to Toa nuva in a good way)
>>
>>5383069
Could you show what he looks like with the golden pieces on his thighs swapped with the red lower leg pieces? (Put on sideways)

I think it'd balance the solid red of his mask more and make his legs proportioned better but I don't have the set to tinker with

I've NEVER understood that aesthetic. it just looks super off to me. at least with 2003 Teridax's mask, it made a different face with eyes and everything. here it's just...why?
>>

It's to achieve certain shapes that just don't exist with regular parts. See 2003 Teridax's hands, or Maxilos' shoulders
>>
>>5383298
not the anon who posted that, but your citing teridax is a good example, as his Maxilos form uses vevon masks of life as armor. It's the shape, anon. Once you get past seeing the faces in it it looks a bit more believable, but people do it because they need parts in the specific shape of the masks for their builds. I can understand why it can be so disorienting if you cannot get around seeing the faces in them, but the people who use them can.

Contenders for GOAT-tier sets include Maxilos and Spinax, Karzhani + Sarda and Idris, and the box set of Axonn, Brutaka, Vezon and Fehnrakk as Vezon and Kardas Dragon.

Umarak gets honorable mention if not a contender already. One of the 03 Titans for sure, and probably one of the 2001 Rahi as well.

when I didn't completely consume onua and grollizard for parts I had them oriented thusly, with onua's shoulder-ribs swung forward to extend his chestplate out to the sides, and the creature's fists balled at the end rather than splayed to give a shape similar to Teridax's set's shoulders. Someone made a TTGL comment about it when I first posted, and I can sorta see that now, but not well.

Do you guys ever wish bionicle was owned by a different company that actually appreciated it? I've been a fan for most of my life and never really found anything interesting about system, but the hate from system fans has made me quite abrasive toward them and system lego in general.

I've found out a couple of interesting things about Umarak

1: Hes the only 2016 model that doesn't have instructions ready to download on the Lego website.
2: When I typed "bionicle instructions umarak" into Google, the auto correct suggested instead "bionicle instructions sidorak".

Is this the truth? Is Umarak actually Sidorak ressurected? They both have horns.
>>
>>5383753
It's just idiots on both sides failing to realize what great potential there is when all Lego systems are utilized (check anything by Retinence for an example).

Though some of the flack the bionicle community takes is justified, since the overwhelmingly dominant form of build is the humanoid action figure, and that can only really hold so much novelty for so long - and to be honest, the millions of "oc" toa reek of a sonic fan-esque mindset... even though that's what the story and system tend to lead people toward making. It gets kind of meaningless after a while.

he's complaining about the lego community itself

Let's say it's a single household.
Dad makes Dioramas, sometimes mifigure scale. Pretty standard.
Mom is into technic and Mindstorms, smart and ingenuitive.
Son #1 is into scale war machines and atcitecture. Pretty respectable.
Daughter is a tasteful minifig customizer. That's alright.
Son #2 loves Bionicle. He's socially awkward and just made his 97th Toa OC this week.

That's a gross over-simplification, but go to any lego con and you'll see exactly what I mean.

it's odd. I would say that they're more interested in playing it safe, but Nexo makes me wrong.

I guess System kind of has a monopoly on popularity. Notice how you can't even find technic sets at most brick&mortar stores that sell lego? Maybe its a combination of that and Lego being more reserved in how they approach things now.

I do wonder though, how influential the app games are on the sales for younger demographics.

Yes, if by "Umarak is actually Sidorak," you mean "the names 'Umarak' and 'Sidorak' share enough typographical and structural similarities that former could be mistaken for a misspelling of the latter by a search algorithm."

In addition to answering your question, I will submit rankings of the sets I have.
>Titan-scale sets
Axalara T9, Jetrax T6, and Rockoh T3 are God I&II-tier, God-Tier, and Hero-Tier respectively

Max and Spinax are definitely GI&II-Tier, if not GOAT-Tier

Muaka and Kane-Ra are DEFINITELY GOAT-MaTIERial

Fenrakk is definitely God-II-Tier, as is Skopio (if you can get it cheap. Funny how something like that can affect the ranking)

The '05 Titans -- objectively -- are Great-Tier, but are elevated to God-Tier for being the first true "Titan" sets

Jaller and Gukko sit comfortably at Great-Tier

On the flipside, Takanuva '08 is Crap-Tier while Toa Mata-Nui is Shit-Shit-Tier, saved from the dreaded Shisno-Tier by virtue of including the Gold Ignika

>Figure-scale sets
The Mata are automatically GOAT-Tier. Nuva are God-II

Metru are God-II-Tier

Masters are God-I&II-Tier, while the Protectors range from Midgard- to Demigod-Tier

As far as the Uniters go, I've only got Lewa and Uxar. Their combo is 100% God-Tier (Don't believe me? Check Pic Related)

Umarak? Solid Demigod-Tier.

Bohrok and Rahkshi are, ironically, Hero-Tier

Now, the Ignika land right in the Whaleshit-Tier pile, and the Hordika are definitely Shisno-Tier.

STARS Rahkshi...poor, poor STARS Rahkshi. To him goes the dreaded rank of WOAT-Tier.

And that's my great-big Tier list that nobody asked for.

You just know they're gonna do something similar for the MoUP as the "big reveal" for the true BBEG.

>Toa do The Thingâ„¢ to prepare to fight Makuta
>Toa battle Makuta
>MoUP detaches and books, so as to prolong the arc
>Before Makuta drifts into unconsciousness/obscurity/the shadow realm, he tells the Toa that the MoUP was the BBEG all along, and delivers (in dramatically weary/shaky voice) one final line of dialogue:
>"...and it calls itself...Teridax."

Neat moc, btw

Yep, trans neon green. All Stone sets use that. We haven't seen trans yellow in CCBS since Waspix (2011). That was the only instance actually.

Though, I have to say that trans orange as a substitute of trans red bugs me a lot more. It's good to potray fire and heat but it's not creepy enough to portray evil. I know why they did it, trans red is so dark it's closer to dark red and doesn't glow. But if they choose to portray corrupted Makuta and the Mask of Ultimate Power like in the animations trans orange won't cut it.

Maxilos and Spinax is a nice set. 2007 was a great year, as long as you don't get any lime green sets or Hewkii. The two Matoran sets are pretty good as well. I'm personally looking for a cheap Hydraxon.

I really wish I could understand whoever thought the playsets were a good idea. For that price point they could have given us awesome giant sets (as they did in 2008 and 2009), but instead we get some of the shittiest system sets imaginable with ugly figures and zero compatibility with the rest of the Bionicle line.

Ignore the 1.0 Hero Factory sets unless you want the exclusive parts. The 3.0 heroes are bad. The Breakout and Brain Attack waves are the better ones. As for larger sets, there's Fire Lord, Rocka XL and Black Phantom. They're basically the same build, but they look alright and are good if you want a bunch of CCBS parts.
>>
>>5382516

>>
>>5384739
I've got a ton of the Hordika 'Minifigs'. They're literally statues. Even the incredibly lazy Mahri Minifigs had more effort put into them. The only good things that came from the playsets were the exclusive colours, like the gold Kraahkan and gold Vohtarak body.

Sure, it's a neat build, but the torso is bit too short and legs are bit too bulky and long for it to look good.
>>
>>5384828

No, I'm not a fan of him either, I actually want to sell him because I don't like him at all. His torso is too short and stocky, his legs are too thick, his arms are too skinny with tiny hands, his waist-shoulders ratio is almost 1:1, and his head is nothing short of lazy. I fail to understand the hype. Props for the height, effort to make a custom torso, staff and color scheme. But all I see is a fat guy with skinny arms and a tiny head, sorry.

I think it might be "Our minifigure based shows are doing good, so we can just put that up." Then Bionicle has characters with a lot of detail and the only other time they tried an 'action figure show' was Galidor. So you could see why they'd be hesitant to make a Bionicle show.
