I'm not really sold on the uniters yet
While I appreciate their design from a perspective of pushing CCBS, just don't feel like they are as distinctive as I would like. The 2015 toa were pretty cool even if they were lacking
Sir, I believe the only autist here is you.
As if there's a good way to do that.
Kopaka ad Gali are easy, swap legs from their 2015 versions, but the rest are a lot trickier because of limited colors for bones.
Sacrificing color coherence for sensible proportions is something nobody should have to deal with, Goddammit.
You know, we never had to deal with that shit in G1. Inika limbs came in all shapes and colors, and there were plenty in each set. Now we have limited color choice based on size and vice versa.
>Want a Toa with long legs? As long as the colorscheme you want involves black, gray and/or trans-light blue, you got it.
RoboTupac update 1: construction on the torso has begun. Attempting a biomechanics like vibe, hence the use of the Ben 10 torso. The attached HF 1.0 torso is for bulk, and because the secon head ballpoint allows for movement of his B.A.N.T.S (Bitch Ass Nigga Tareting System). I am also listening to Tupac radio on Pandora for inspiration.
I'd love to see that but I doubt they'd make it just for one set.
If they opt for the "out of budget, sorry guys" option Ekimu is going to be a gold and trans light blue Pohatu with a hammer and the Mask of Creation, maybe not even recolored.
We might get some exclusive recolors (torso shell, mask..) or possibly a MoCr remold if we're really lucky.
But since he's the first in the set list he's most likely a mid size set, so I'm not getting my hopes up for anything amazing.
It would be ridiculous to give Ekimu that long torso imo.
It could be used on the beasts and Umarak TD too.
Like making Umarak TD's upper torso from two of those and connecting arms to the hip piece.
When the actual fuck is Journey to One actually being released? I hope we get a confirmation of something more than just: "Lel, wenevr in 2016 m8. don wory bout et."
Gimme ETA month at least, Lego. Netflix. Anyone.
I could've sworn we had this discussion last year. Tripfags arent terrible as a whole, just unessary tripfagging is. the only tripfags who have any business tripfagging are:
-those who have made MOCs and are posting them with explanations
-anons asking for critism on their MOCs
-anons giving critiques (and even then its not really necessary)
Indigo tripfagged too much, and has learned his lesson. And I like to think Eggo learned his lesson as well. B6 isnt even a good example, hes just a bunch of people doing it for a joke that only they find funny.
Basically, dont namefag unless you need to.
>branding an image as their own is attention whoring
Yes it is you thick-headed fuck. Not a SINGLE other tripfag brands their images. We dont care about you, we care about your project. Go on reddit if you want fucking recognition. Here, your merit is determined by the quality of your build, not how fucking hard you shill it. If your build was good enough to steal, people would fucking replicate it. You dont own a fucking building technique, you cant call the damn cyber police on them. Fuck.
>appear in stores when in transit
Guess I'll just tinker then.
Why is everyone on /biog/ always throwing a fit about something stupid, whether it be a poorly constructed OP, a new tripfriend, or something else? Bonkles people! Why do you think all the other generals make fun of us?
>decided to pick up uniter kopaka
>check local TRU
>went out of business over holidays
>only other place to get these sets are at walmart and target
>target filled to the brim with old sets (not even summer sets)
>walmarts are barren as fuck but did find like 3 griveous's
>just order it online
Fucker cost me $33, it's not much but still not worth that much. At least ill get kopaka on the 9th
nah man the other generals make fun of us because Lego general hates Bionicle with a passion and in 2015 we had extremely fast threads that filled up the catalog a bit. Its only like, 1/5 threads that start with complaining about the OP, its not a huge problem here.
Because they all love taking the bait, which is mainly due to the fact that many people here dont MOC, and just want something to keep us active. A year or two ago this wasnt the case.
Upper torso of RoboTupac now in prototype stages. It's just as shitty as it looks. Not very solid, kind of a mess, there isn't even a way to attach his arms. This is probably getting scrapped, and CCBS Vader is getting demolished for parts.
For a lot of people it's probably a number of factors:
>Don't have the photography skills to take a good picture
>Their parents get rid of their Bionicle parts long ago so they have no old parts to MOC with
>Skipped Hero Factory / Chima so have very little CCBS and don't want to take apart the new sets
>Don't necessarily have an interest in / skill for MOCing
>Have no good ideas for what to MOC (this is one my issue)
>You dont own a fucking building technique, you cant call the damn cyber police on them.
At no point did I even imply that, you pulled that argument out of your ass and you know it. AT BEST, a watermark is a way to say "I own this IMAGE." There was no point where it became "I own everything WITHIN this image."
at least this place isn't like any given /vg/ thread
what a fucking shitty containment board that is
Because most of the time people just ignore them. And its not even because theyre sub-par either. People just dont seem to care. We have a few I remember, like AnchorArms' Axonn and Brutaka MOCs, ChiroxAnon's Chirox Anon, Indigobro's self MOC, and Fisherman MOC.
But people like >>5380139 might be the reason other anons avoid replying to MOCs.
Watermarking is the visual equivalent of pitch shifting or DRM on software. Youre sacrificing clarity and quality of your product just to let people know its "your property". Post it on your deviant art if you want people to know its your image. And to be honest its actually a good MOC, stop being an ass. Learn from my goddamn example, because I was a bigger ass than you are when I first got here.
I personally only want this due to the spring shooters.
This man knows his shit, the Super Smash Bros and Splatoon threads on /vg/ are a million times worse than any of our bullshit.
well aaron or whatever the green guy's name is has 4 of the new round projectiles which are compatable with nexo female ball joint ends
and there's the rad new minifig armor parts, so
There really isn't much in there worth scanning it (I have a digital copy so really dont even need to go that far if I wanted to distribute it), the only real new stuff in there is as follows:
>Visuals of Jungle, Earth, and Ice villages / regions (the villages are irrelevant after book 2 anyway)
>Pohatu interacting with cute bionicle puppies
>pic related in terms of lore
It's nothing new, but I do like to see MOCs in /biog/ so here is one of my last creations from back in october.
RoboTupac torso now mostly complete. Bitch Ass Nigga Targeting System is still just a helmet, still trying to find that out (Gali Mistika's Reticule maybe?)
Thanks, here is another one I like to post regularly.
Ive actually been trying to deconstruct this one for a while now. I plan on using it as a base for a Toa Team. I can give deconstructions of some of my guys if you want in return.
Well I've already posted it quite some time ago, here you go, it's actually not that difficult.
If you think about it, the pastel and washed colors give them more of a faded metal / sandwashed shell effect that has more of a "natural" feel to it.
>tfw no pastel Bonkle parts
Also, here is the most important part, a 3L rod going throught the Y connector to attach the egg-shaped liftarms without anything looking bad. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing how your MOC works : the aesthetics are pretty good even if I always feel like using tires like this is just a tad lazy, I hope you don't mind.
Aaaaaaaaaand I am officially stuck on the hips. No idea how to reinforce them without sacrificing the armor ballpoint, probably gonna just make some custom legs if I have the parts.
The axles are only used to maintain the cape in the armor so it keeps the shape I want, you don't need them for structural purposes.
>want to know what i could improve on
>proceed to post said moc here
>get 1 reply
>no constructive criticism because no replies
Why bother, everyone here rather discusses how bad the OP was made.
I mean, for the stone region and Pohatu it looks great, and I can see it with Gali where it looks like it's about to storm; Tahu and Onua are pretty well-colored too. It's mostly how washed out Lewa and Kopaka look. But I suppose you're right about it being more natural, since it does help to remove these animations from the ultra-vibrant 2015 webisodes.
I guess I'll quit my bitchin. In other news, I got Lewa and Uxar (?) today. Torso is way too long for the limbs provided. The stubbiness was easily avoidable with some longer bones, and shoulder balls being constructed differently. An extra two crystal armor pieces would've been great, but oh well. 7.5/10 from me.Uxar is cool, that wing function is great. 9/10, esp for a small set.
The tires were a fill in for the Ben 10 arm joints I didnt have at the time. His final update is very different. Ill upload a dissection of the arms in a bit. Theyre the only huge development his model really made. Most of My Mocs use a very simple body that just seems complicated. Not Inika build simple, but more or less smart parts use, like syoya whos Core hunter I dissected to come up with a lot of other techniques. When he gave us all the answers in the end, Ill be honest, I kinda felt insulted, because I figured out all of the body but the vertically placed vahki hip. Never would've guessed. Indigo actually uses this build. Well at least his last three current builds do.
This is probably the best place to post MOCs if you arent confident in them, if it was BZP or something you have a name tied to your MOC so if its truly that bad you would be kinda judged for it, but here you could post something absolutely terrible, get constructive criticism, and then post something great a week later and we would have no idea you posted the shit MOC.
Also I still have two of these super long axle rods from a Vikings set. Any practical use for these aside from probing through my parts bin?
I actually don't MOC many evil characters, this one was built for the international context last year. I actually built it in six hours before leaving for a big exhibition that took place the week end the contest ended.
A big problem with this general is the obsession with leaks.
Like yeah leaks happen in every fanbase, but too often our discussion is about leaks and nothing else.
We're so thirsty for leaks that a rusemaster can come in spouting bullshit and some will believe him.
It makes Bionicle fans look gullible.
>I actually don't MOC many evil characters
So what about showing us your good guys then?
I could very well do that, if you're not against very old MOCs with very bad pictures.
Here is my Lhikan, based on an old Takanuva frame I did.
Here's a dissection of my double jointed arm. Basically i invented it because out of A and B, neither had a very realistic range of motion. So being the articulation fag I am, I started looking into other toylines to see how they rectified this. SaS uses a similar joint in their figures. There are more compact ways o do this connection, but this one is the sturdiest. i prefer to have my models as reliable as possible.
Heres one I made a while back. A timid Toa of fire. I plan on remaking him one day with a red and medium blue palette.
>Korgot remains one of the more 'iffy' situations where I'm almost certain that they didn't intend the character to be female originally and simply claimed they were female when fans started asking which one was the female small set this time around.
Hasn't that been the case for literally every set besides Roodaka?
The sets are designed way before the story team assigns them names and roles.
I build in whats essentially 1/6th scale, so I typically encounter problems most people dont when building. Most of which of friction related.
... which turns into this.
Understandable. I'm not fond of this scale, and my prefered one is clearly canister or less.
Sorry for shit quality but this is a guy I recently redid. in this version hes a ball and chain wielding purple and brown Toa of Stone. In his current version hes canister sized, and his colors have changed to Mata Brown with a Sand green Secondary, and he wields power gauntlets and Uniter Potatos Rock.
Its more likely a lack of response that discourages people from posting. I tend to lurk and admire the stuff that does get posted rather than post... so im part of the problem.
Eggo here, just giving a nod to this.
And to add some contribution to thread, this little shit right here is garbage. Why is it so garbage.
It's neck feels bad, the "arms" are pitiful and get in the way, the tail is only there as a lever. Why is this one so poorly done next to all the others?
Dont you like rahkshi grills?
I feel when done right, Rahkshi Mocs offer some useful building techniques, but often they are like yours. They sacrifice stability and grace for bionic tiddies. And Ive seen Nuva tiddies done well, and thats the craziest part. Often what kills a MOC is "trying too hard". they also bleed the crawlinginmyskinthesewoundswillneverheal kind of feel. They feel immature, like youre attached to something you wont let go of. Not trying to shit on your tatse, its just the way I see it.
You haven't been to hell unti you've seen a fucking War Thunder thread. Never before and never again have I seen such a turgid cesspool of shitposting.
Just thread after thread of memes and bitching. It didn't help the game was considered awful by pretty much everyone in the threads too.
I dont have any at the momemnt, but his legs have very low friction and are hard to pose, and hes also locked inside my display underneath my zyglak dark hunter and my girlfriends (somewhat basic) Toa of Psionics. Ill post more of the Timid Toa someday soon.
I feel the point you gave me isnt neccecairly(?) True for this moc in particulair. Tho i admit the head design+the titties is overused alot this moc is far from instabel.
Unless i mis understood something?
Good MOCs had had praise before and bad MOCs had had criticism as well, if your MOC doesn't get any replies it's not a sign to stop making and/or posting them, it's a sign to keep trying.
Now i sure know what to improve upon!
Thing is, ive seen it dozens of times and i believe its the reason noone bothers posting mocs here. Tho when we do it is actually usefull feedback
>Now i sure know what to improve upon!
If you need others to tell you you need to improve then your doing it wrong.
You should always be your first critic, and always strife to do better than last time.
Second opinions are very useful for when -you- think a MOC is good so you can gain a different perspective
tl;dr stop being a fag and do MOCs dammit
Basically its a tried and true kind of MOC that relies on some dated and bad techniques, and im not even talking about the feet on that thing, that connection is actually legal. Im talking about the overlapping parts, it warps one of them so it permanently bends a specific way. The lower torso and shoulders are extremely pleasing to look at though. You should try to flesh out the rest of it more. The legs are simple in structure (which isnt always bad ) but they look like basic piraka legs with tacked on bits as do the lower arms. And as >>5380312 said, tires are usually the laziest method you can use. This MOCs a good example of femininity without resorting to super illegal methods.
Are you really taking B6 seriously?
The main problem with this general is that people like you get discouraged. Post. Just post. We all have lives, maybe its just unfortunate timing. I personally love teaching people and critiquing, Ill even give you a guide image based on your pic like I did for Chiroxanon if you post one.
Oh hey that's my Gali revamp from forever ago.
I reused that body for another moc awhile back.
Different guy here
Isn't it usually unnecessary to use illegal methods for more feminine bodies? I mean, it depends on what you're going for, but most stuff seems quite within the reach of the Bionicle/System system.
You see you probably have enough building knowledge under your belt that you know its easy to create feminine creations. It isnt for most newbies, I can build feminine bodies, but that doesnt mean other know how. Most of the time people try and cut pieces, use clip heresy, o into whats called "out of system" and other crap like that. Pic related is a good example. Or they perform the worst of all. Nuva boobs.
If you want a feminine MOC I made, I dont have pics on hand that are of any quality, but I had this MOC a while back. She has since been reused for parts, although her ar technique was so great I reused it In my Brown /Sand Green Toa.
But in general, to make a easy female form, you need to become best friends with the hordika neck and his bro the glatorian neck.
Guys look at the cool thing that I built.
I have this ancient good guy
I think he was an attempt to make a movie style turaga
The yellow pieces were supposed to be robes
I posted a bunch of old MOCs last thread, and I got a few replies. I've only got early 2015 bonkles to work with though, so it's hard to make new shit without buying more.
In general, do people like seeing new MOCs, even if they're not very good?
>not even trying
This is pathetic... I'm calling the cyber poolice.
I'm pretty beginner level in terms of MOCs, for some reason I'm not clever with complex builds.
Picked up a clearance Skull Baster at Target for $10 and went to the Lego Store in hopes of finally getting started on Star Wars, but ALL THE CCBS Star Wars was sold out, not even goddamn Finn left.
So for the time being I was conflicted with getting the two pack with Kopaka and is buddy two pack and Onua. I just settled with Onua because he's my favorite Toa.
I'd get Pohatu, but I feel like I'd have to revamp the new one with like Rey parts or something.
I used Jokerman font because I can't take you seriously and coloured it in Rainbow because I think you're a fag.
The image quality and the MOC itself are shit. It is thoroughly not worthy of an OP image. People let Tripfag-kun make the next thread because he led people to believe he was doing something unique with the Toa Mata, not so that he could blatantly attentionwhore with a pic that was already posted in the last thread anyway and feel like a famous thread creator.
Keep it coming anon, we could do this all day.
>I was a retard
>Some anon is criticising me for it
>WAAAAAHHH, NO, BAIT!
You'd probably fit in more in some extremist part of Tumblr if you can't take criticism this intensely. Please leave. This earth preferably.
I could see someone making both turn off one gear by usitlizinh universal joints. Other than that, I have no idea how you could accomplish that. Too little space.
On an unrelated note, what do your displays look like? Mines a little cluttered at the moment, but it consists of my MOCs and a few Revos and Figmas.
If any of your American Targets still have the Obi Wan vs. Grievous constraction sets, check the price on it. I got on for $45, which is pretty good for all the parts you get.
He learned his lesson, now stop baiting your hook, youre fishing in turbulent water.
Where do you live? I live in Jersey and hes around 35 at Toys R Us. Unless you live in Washington I see no reason for it to be that high.
Also when and where will this damn thing be available? Im gonna buy like 8 and make a poncho for one of my guys.
I'd read the FIRST HALF of Island of the Lost Masks, then just watch the animations for the summer story. Gathering of the Toa is pretty skippable, but Revenge of the Skull Spiders is a must read.
What would you suggest I do?
I've not been very active with MOCs for a
while, so I'm unsure of where to start, save
using some CCBS bones for the upper arms.
Just looking for any advice on it, really.
>mfw all of the skull baddies except for Scorpio were on clearance at my local target
>>skull baddies except for Scorpio were on clearance at my local target
I'll need to check my Target, then. Cheap legs for Scorpio.
>Something something wrong neighborhood
I was going to say that the legs could use a way to bend, but then I noticed it can bend its legs. Make the top and bottom of the legs more separate looking, that should improve it.
You've inspired me to get a blacklight for my guy. shit's gonna look neat
Well my fiance and I plan on devoting a room to our hobbies, one giant ass diorama and craft room. I wanted to use up some of the absolutely insane amount of bricks I have lying around to do something useful. She collects mainly SHF, Revos, and BJDs. Bionicle and the occasional waifu is my vice.
uh...hate to burst your bubble, but it's not gonna do shit with Blueberry Bonanza there. The new trans light blue doesn't fluoresce.
Applicious Jones and Greg Orangestorm are gonna look fresh as hell tho
Fuck. I've never had a trip before, but I'm the guy who's getting the Mata this week, and as promised I'm gonna pose them like in that 'Bionicle sex' horrible video.
I also do a lot of my posting on mobile because it's easy and I have a camera right at my fingertips.
I guess I'll go by Kiropanon for now? I like Kirop, and I guess I can utilize him in my pictures from now on.
>they will never bring back tr. dark pink, tr. fluoro yellow, or tr. medium blue
Man, cracked joints aside the Av-Matoran still sucked, and Kirop was my favorite. It may have been helped with Kirop being the only one I got that year with a pair with Chirox. I got the other two Makuta and the three light Matoran.
I was so out of it for the Mistika somehow the only set from that wave I own is Gali.
Anyways, reconstituted Kirop and Mask of Time for proof it's me.
I think they MIGHT bring back the first one, actually. Or something similar. Looking at the animations, Mask Maker Makuta's translucent accent is clearly trans dark pink, (which most people mistake for trans purple.)
In the rare event that we actually get a Mask Maker Makuta figure at some point, there's a slim possibility that the color could return. In CCBS, no less.
I hope that means we're getting a really big CCBS figure, like Grievous or Witch Doctor style. I'd love to see how they pull off a large figure like that but with technic and functions mixed in.
>There will never be non-lightsaber trans-red CCBS pieces
Ah, but there is enough material between him, his 2015 version, the creature and protector as well as the starwars sets to make some fine-ass stone bros with. In fact, I can almost say the sheer concentration of stone colors in starwars sets may even justify the lack of stone colors in the bionicle line itself, as with the two lines combined they, black and white have the highest parts count.
Give in, anon
buy all the lego
give them your money
I agree. The sword and mid-led tr. light blue shells won't do dick, but the rest will be fresh as fuck.
>Evo Walker blaster
Fuck I hope so, Bubbs. As far as I can tell, they only made it for one piece: Tahu/Nuva's brainstalk. It's just not enough for one hell of a cool color.
Same here. I reintegrated Lewa's pieces into MOCs, which had their parts reassigned in turn so many times that when I wanted to rebuild Lewa for a side-by-side with his 2016 incarnation, I managed to find every part I needed in my tablescrap.
Like, literally on the giant slew on my desk and the neighboring table.
With all the discussion about the new sets, there's one thing I think is being overlooked:
With the "Unification Piece," Lego has introduced a part that's both a structural element AND an armor piece, that ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD/FUNCTIONS WELL AS BOTH.
Like, holy shit
I ended up revamping my Lewa to the point where I made this guy, he barely even has any of Lewas parts anymore.
>"That lightsaber..it belongs to ME."
Fucking hack JJ Abrams
shit, you guys have way more reasons then i thought about, anyway, have one of my wips so far, excuse the shittier lighting
I in no way meant to imply that it wasn't rad, just sexiness-destroying.
Unfortunately both versions I have are on my colossal super-gadunka, for hunger-themed powers, embedded along her throat.
honestly though, I'm tired of all the extra vibrant colors that Bionicle has been seen with in all of it's forms of media all the way back to MNOLG.
The only instance I can think of this faded stuff being applied is the 2005 promos and Bionicle Heroes.
I for one welcome the look. I just hope we get decent voice actors and the episodes are at least 15 minutes a piece.
You stop that right now. I'm almost done with my Makuta moc and now I'm imagining him with trans pink parts like the ones used in that galaxy/alien line and I'm starting to want it to become a thing.
Just made my first MOC since I was a kid. I tried to make some sort of gorilla-like creature and I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
Sorry for shit camera
It's basically a G1 Bionicle piece in terms of connection points. It's actually used to a pretty strong extent this year, where for many of the new sets is is an integral part of the structure of the entire figure.
If it's one of those single-bulb dealies that you can put in a regular lightsocket, it's not gonna do any good.
Ideally, you also need a setup similar to mine (pic related) where you have a stand relatively close to the light set up in a space that you can either fully enclose, or fully control the light level.
Actually, should I just go ahead and make a tutorial or some shit?
Try thinking about why the one anon might have used that line in particular to call Abrams a hack in a Bionicle thread. It couldn't be because Makuta said "That mask belongs to me," at any point during the Bionicle movies, could it?
"/biog/ - Bionicle and CCBS General"
Emphasis on CCBS. Are you retarded? Also, Star Wars toys don't "take up slots" for Bionicle, and even if they did, why would TLG put Bionicle first? Do you have any idea how much money Star Wars toys make Lego? Money that goes towards helping to fund your precious Bionicle models. Go be mad somewhere else.
>that Toa Ignika in the top left
>that was the last bionicle I ever bought
Damn, I wish I still had all the parts to remake the original set
All I have is the edgy redesign I made for Toa Ignika himself from when I was 11.
yeah but Hero Factory was basically just used for a way to develop CCBS without fucking Bionicle any more than they already had with the last few terrible waves of models. And now that they're done with it? It's out the window.
To be fair, they cancelled Bionicle before they created Hero Factory, hell, from Greg F, it went as follows:
>Bionicle team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, you're line's cancelled!"
>Then tell them to come up with something else
>Eventually some person/people come up with the concept of Hero Factory
>Thats what we get
This was probably decided at some point in 2009, and is why the stars were a thing.
Is bionicle.com being weird for anyone else? The story section doesn't load at all and the products section is just an empty page. Maybe that means they're currently in the process of updating it with 2016 stuff.
Takes up what, more grey boxes and recycled OT ships JJ so brilliant came up with?
Last few? More like 6 years of intrepid dog shit that the fanbase desperate worship like the dogs they are.
This reboot sure follows Hero Factory's example of lack luster, rushed, story telling. But at least its better than Star Wars will ever be.
To be fair, the lackluster rushed storytelling only affects everything related to the animations, the first half of the year, as well as the second half to an extent, were saved by the two books and graphic novel, sadly the battle with the skull fuckers is doomed to be forever lackluster thanks to the animations, but the protectors adventures at the time (book 2) at least add some interest to that whole part (and explain what happened to the unconscious bodies of Skull Basher and Kulta so that's something)
Yeah...shame about his mask, though.
Like, it's still intact and everything, and it's not exactly "lost," I just don't know which bin it's in and don't really have motivation to look for it.
Close, but not quite. It went more like this:
>Bionicle team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, you're line's cancelled!"
>Use STARS as field-testing for simplified sets
>Use knowledge to make Hero Factory
>A year passes
>Hero Factory team called in for a meeting
>"Guess what guys, Bionicle's coming back! You've got three years, so make it count!"
>Constraction Team uses HF as field-testing for new building system
>Pass half-assed ideas to Marvel IP as budget-cover
>Use knowledge to make new Bionicle sets
>Continue to pass half-assed ideas to licensed IPs as budget-cover
In all fairness, the bulk of the Bionicle canon wasn't really established until two years after the line was released.
No disrespect to MNOG (it was fucking amazing) but it was, at the end of the day, really just cover put out by a third party to buy TLG some time. It's not really any different from the current animations and mobile game, only the presentation differs.
>be an edgy 11 gear old
>get mad that Toa Ignika has a yellow color scheme
>think he's too cool for that
>remake him with Matoro parts
>rationalize it as "the mask chose Matoro anyways"
It's sad, really. I wish I was more creative.
At least you still have his board thing.
And you still have the Axalara. My parents would have never bought me that.
Lol, let the butthurt flow through you kid, Star Wars now shares the ccbs with Bionicle. They shared technic in the past. They were Lego's two best-selling brands. Star Wars and Bionicle are interminably linked. Get over it.
Thanks, it was more or less the goal of the torso, to look like more or less a metru build.
I used that kind of technic for the torso (the balljoints at the shoulders) a long time ago for my first redo of Lhikan.
you can simply put 3L axles in the metru body and attach them together using pic related since it's the perfect angle and line up with the shoulder holes of the metru body.
Thanks, very happy of how it turned out, though the small blue and lime containers were stolen at the last exhibition so I need to replace them.
- take your least liked pair of friction extenders from Onua's legs and put them on the shoulder armor connectors
- let Terak's Hordika-necks face forwards instead of backwards
- unite them
- pop a boner
And speaking of Onua, I'm surprised that they only used a 3 module long axle in front of the unification piece instead of a 5 module long.
That way there wouldn't be that much stress on the beam parts next to it that hold the complete arm-constructions with only a single one of the smallest axles each.
That reminds me of that fake Toa Ignika leak which was basically a (not very good) Titan version of Matoro wearing the silver Ignika.
It would've made sense if the Toa Ignika set took some design cues from Matoro Mahri, starting from the color scheme or part of it.
But that couldn't happen due to G1's modus operandi which mostly amounted to "let's design random stuff and then slap a name on it", which showed with sets like the 2008 Toa Nuva. That happened even in subtler cases: why would Toa Nuju's Mask of Telekinesis even need an eyepiece? But that was par of the course with all Ice Toa sets back then so no one stopped designers from adding it to the Mask. Glad G2 is avoiding this behavior- and to be fair, for all the problems it had Hero Factory avoided it too.
Dunno what the heck was the deal with the keetorange. Maybe it was supposed to resemble gold, like Toa Mata Nui. Bionicle G1 was so stingy with gold, it wasn't until Rocka on HF that we got the first gold constraction figure.
Also, here is lewa, modified a bit further. The crystal armors are supposed to look like skirt armors to match the shoulders. Pretty happy with the result.
Action poses work better with the arms as well since they work like any other simple balljoint.
Instructions are out!
Here he is with Lewa 2015, which happens to be my favourite Toa from last year.
Also, since someone asked me in the last thread, here is how it works. it's as simple as it looks, using only six pieces not in the set and not rare one at that.
I also slightly modified pohatu, mostly reversing his shins shells so he doesn't look like he's wearing thigh-high boots, and making a better weapon since the staff didn't work for me.
I may modify it further but it would need me to buy more shells so I'll see.
And finally, both Pohatu together, lookin' good, even if last year's Pohatu is still my favourite of the two.
So, what do you think, /biog/ ?
>My parents would have never bought me that.
Nor mine. Bought that maf'k for $25, NIB (with water damage) back in 2012.
Coincidentally, found my silver Ignika while putting pic related together.
I know that "undead" mocs are a little played out after last wave, but when I got the MoCo I couldn't resist.
As with all Great Masks, without the influence of a wearer or suitably contained, the Mask of Control has a will of its own.
Assembled from the remains of Makuta's fallen lieutenants and driven by ancient machinery, the mask's new host body is a suitable -- albeit fragile -- container for its new body. The fragments of memory and emotional imprints from its previous wearer drive it to unknown ends.
Though it has seemingly preferred to avoid direct conflict thus far, Protectors and villagers have reportedly seen it scavenging unreclaimed areas of the Great City.
Whether these actions reflect a dim recollection of its previous life of creation, or serve darker motives, remains to be seen.
Shit yea boi. The box was water-damaged to hell and I figure that the seller thought that affected the value, and who was I to argue?
Coincidentally, the same seller also had Rockoh T3 for the same price. Picked up the Jetrax T6 for $25 the next year.
>MFW I got three of the biggest, most expensive sets of Latter-Day Bonkle for $75 total
It's not perfect but it works. You won't be able to attach it as is though, you'll need one of those 3M beams with a ball at the center, like on stormer XL legs for example
For some reason I find that the 2015 Toa start looking really awkward looking when stood beside their 2016 counterparts for whatever reason. Kopaka and Gali dont suffer from this too much, but overall as polished as last year's sets look, they start losing their charm somehow next to the new ones in my opinion (even without your respectable reworks)
Anon pls, just one of those was all I ever wanted.
>mfw eBay prices for the vehicles
Picked up Gali and Lewa today, here are so e of my thoughts:
Lewa 2016 might be one of my most favorite Toa ever-- his design reminds me of a mechanical shock trooper of sorts. His color scheme is pretty solid as well, I like it more than 2015 Lewa's. Though if I did have one complaint, it would have to be length of his arms.
Gali on the other hand is pretty 'meh' to me. Her colors are unique, but her build and weapon is 0retty average. 2015 Gali's mask is better, but not a whole lot.
>Search for sets 300 kilometers away from home
At least I got Ekimu and Kulta. Last one in the store, full priced. Not worth that much, I feel, but the fucking thing disappeared from my turf before Christmas, so I had no choice.
While 4M fits, I think the best compromise between look and articulations is using 3M shells in with the thick part at the top. Still the shell tends to bump against the bohrok eye which can be a bit annoying but it does look very good and I may keep it like that.
It's a very strange situation, the text to speech voices and the fact that it is technically just a guy moving toys around keeping his hand out of frame would make one instantly believe its going to be shitty, but then the directing and special effects are ridiculously well done, resulting in a finished product that ends up being way better than it has any right to be.
I don't post MOCs often for a number of reasons. My camera and lighting is shite and since a lot of my MOCs are in dark colours (not to be edgy, I just prefer earth sets), you can't really see the construction. I've also got so many half-built MOCs that I never get around to finishing. The third reason is that my MOCs aren't that great because I try to keep them in a similar style to the G1 figures. For example, my Toa Mata and Toa Metru MOCs will always have the original torso (partly because I have to use the gearboxes for something), though I lock the gears in place and add ball joints to the shoulders. The only original thing I've done, unless someone else has done it before me, is make a non-heretical articulated neck for Toa Mata builds. I'm working on Metru shoulders, which I know has been done before, but I want to find a better way to make them. Has anyone got examples of theirs? I'll get a picture of mine in a bit.
Honestly its a LOT worse in pictures than in person. It's mostly because their Torso's are so long, it works completely fine for Tahu since his legs are ridiculously long anyway so it balances out, but the others end up looking a little short as a result. i find holding the sets though they seem fine.
A cousin gave me a near-complete Axalara for free since he was moving away and he knew I was into Bonkles. It's a shame that I've slowly been removing parts from it to build other things. It's basically a skeleton now. I'll see if there's another half-complete one for cheap at a car boot sale somewhere. I could combine the two and still have a few parts left over for a Kane-ra MOC or something.
I have no idea. A more important question, however, is this: why the fuck did they slightly change the colours of the plastic and never use those colours again? Thok and Avak are the biggest offenders, though Vezok and Hakann have small colour changes. I doubt that every Piraka part I have was stored in direct sunlight until I bought them.
The off-white looked terrible in my opinion. I would have been fine with a standard white. That doesn't explain why the others had odd colours while the Toa Inika had the same colours as the Toa Metru.
Greetings. I am Gail. Hero of Agua
you'll be able to tell
resin is a pretty poor material to make these from, gets flexible when it's thin
little pink bits are clay from when I was making part of the mold
can't seem to get them off
The mold I made is inherently flawed in construction, when I get more money I can make a better one. See, the air bubble holes fucking up the front of the mask are because I didn't make proper air channels. Air rises to the top of the mold (the front of the mask) and fucks shit up.
I'll keep seeing what I can do with this mold, maybe the next one will be better. I'm using solid resin right now because transparent resin takes at least 4 hours to cure, or at least that was the case with the naval miniature battleship I duped as a simple test. I've heard transparent resin with color additives takes even longer to solidify.
I mean, look at this thing
>(yes I forgot the pic, shut up).
>A Mysterious package arrives at your home
>You have a strange feeling that your Kopaka will enjoy this
>You take a dramatic please to be an absolute faggot
>You open it up and find it
(Please was meant to be pause, but this phone's spell corrector is terrible)
>you will finally get to build your very first full on technic set
>it fills your Kopaka with determination
But yeah, I'll probably take that pic later tonight after making some modifications to it (sacrificing Skull Slicer for his glorious trans bone bits). By the way, the moc isn't name Monica. It's Vanessa.
Say it out loud with the stress on the middle syllable
I don't see why people dislike this guy. Even without Ikir he's godly, fuckin niggas up with his giant fire scissors.
>need more silicone
>need hot plate to heat up mold
>need wax sticks to make proper sprues
>it takes 12 hours to make one side of a mold
>I don't get paid until next monday
You should see what resin looks like while it's drying in a puddle
The best of the wave by far, even though tahu is my least favorite Toa
Lewa has short arms, weird shoulders, and a really big chin on his mask
(Props for cohesive color scheme, if a bit heavy on the silver)
Pohatu's color scheme is a bit of a mess and he's really unarmored from the back (nice mask though.)
Onua is easily 2nd place although is build is a bit gappy and the huge feet are pretty dumb now that he's not as bulky (silver on the Mask doesn't fit.)
Gali is okay, her arms are short and the assymetric build is unique but could've been done better (that manjaw kills the Mask. As well as the silver not fitting.)
Kopaka has some rather gappy upper arms, a really bad balance of colors with nearly all the dark blue being on his wrists, along with white and light blue and silver and gray. The little shooter is a bit lazy as well, like they just gave him last wave's weapon.
Overall, I think the entire wave would have looked much better if they either dropped the silver blended into the masks, or incorporated silver into every toa's armor instead of gold, orange, etc, (would've made them even more similar to Toa nuva in a good way)
Could you show what he looks like with the golden pieces on his thighs swapped with the red lower leg pieces? (Put on sideways)
I think it'd balance the solid red of his mask more and make his legs proportioned better but I don't have the set to tinker with
Here. Doesn't really look that good to me, but hey, different strokes for different niggers.
To be honest the one time they ever annoyed me was not getting a game preorder on time. It was MH4U which is a giant pain to start late. But I mainly use GAME to buy vidya anyway. Other than that Amazon has been pretty gud
Woah buddy, calm down, thats some high level heresy ya got there. (Although I must admit its much better than Gudgyes current neck).
I don't like the attachment method for 2016 Kopaka's shoulders, so I put them on backwards and ran a 5 axle through the unity piece instead of the 3 that the instructions call for. Anyone else have a solution for the weak default connections?
>>5383274why do people use masks as non-mask parts. or have the head facing up so the top of the mask is the face?
I've NEVER understood that aesthetic. it just looks super off to me. at least with 2003 Teridax's mask, it made a different face with eyes and everything. here it's just...why?
not the anon who posted that, but your citing teridax is a good example, as his Maxilos form uses vevon masks of life as armor. It's the shape, anon. Once you get past seeing the faces in it it looks a bit more believable, but people do it because they need parts in the specific shape of the masks for their builds. I can understand why it can be so disorienting if you cannot get around seeing the faces in them, but the people who use them can.
Can someone post the kopaka 2016 with the white wrist pieces and silver crystal add-on thingies
I saw it before and it looked amazing. It's a shame the set didn't come packaged that way.
>Looking at Bionicles on amazon
after rekindling interest in Bionicle due to a thread on /v/.
>See the Bohrak kal
>"Oh cool, these guys were sweet, but I don't remember what their abilities were"
>Look it up on Biosector1
>mfw all the Bohrok Kal suffered horrible deaths by their own powers
Jesus fucking Christ, I didn't remember that happening at all. I think the one who got it worst was Kohrok Kal, nigger was just disintegrated at the atomic level by sound.
it's coming man
I agree to the second part of the first line; they're Hero-Tier, tops.
The Tier of Tiers goes like so:
Contenders for GOAT-tier sets include Maxilos and Spinax, Karzhani + Sarda and Idris, and the box set of Axonn, Brutaka, Vezon and Fehnrakk as Vezon and Kardas Dragon.
Umarak gets honorable mention if not a contender already. One of the 03 Titans for sure, and probably one of the 2001 Rahi as well.
>That's how the instructions showed them
No it doesn't. It connects to the blade, not the technic connector under it.
