So a friend of mine is willing to sell me all of these plus fero and skirmix. How much would be a good price for them without ripping him off? He doesn't care too much as long as I buy them.
Also, plugging the ratchet "hinge" used for his Shadow Trap onto his back will allow you to store his bigass crossbow onto his back.
I was thinking an industrial type robot so he gun have pinchers for hands and barraki squid holders for littler hands.
How is it though? Does it need anything?
>you have been visited by the mask maker makuta
>masks and great power will come to you, but only if you say "not the spiked end, makooti" to this post
fuck, I'm gonna stop fooling with this until I get some more materials
+ vent mostly filled in
+ chin filled in
- giant fucking hole
- for some reason the mix of oil paint and resin bubbled up inside the mold, where it didn't on the miniature aircraft carrier
I think the problem with the bubbling is you may be pouring it too quickly/not slowly enough. A friend of mine used to make resin figures of a sculpture he made and would have to pour it slowly along with using a syringe to get rid of bubbles once it was poured.
couldn't decide between a grenade launcher or a crossbow
tried to make Kulta taller and more skeleton-like.
It's funny how almost every kulta moc is beefy as fuck, he's a skeleton after all.
Has anyone made the CCBS Stormtrooper into TR-8R yet? Shouldn't be too hard to build the nightstick.
I'll try that. Usually don't get many bubbles while mixing, but it may be the way I'm pouring that's causing a problem. Damn, the more I do this, the more little things I find out about that I'm supposed to buy
I've noticed that adding foreign objects into the resin tends to cause it to form bubbles... attempts to make color changes with inks and acrylic paints resulted in that (they don't mix either). Oil paints don't do it so much if mixed well, but they seem to be a poor color additive. Difficult to make a uniform mixture with them. Considering trying food coloring or a paint wash with Future or hydrogen peroxide (no idea what results will be, but anything with water makes resin bubble the hell up like foam).
I'll take a serious stab at this with a better mold next week. Really want to do clear colors but my mold is too shitty for something with a 4 hour or longer cure time
Maybe so, but they don't help an already thin object stay very solid at all.
I gave Umarak bigger antlers by moving the crossbow "horns" to his head and swapping some other pointy bits around here and there. I think he looks much better this way.
How could they mess up baeonicle so bad
I'd honestly be fine with Melum being an exact carbon copy of Terak rather than having that stupid bear-hug thing just so I could do the whole drop-on-the-shoulders thing with the gimmick.
He's fucking great when you switch around some of the friction extenders and shells and don't pose Ketar like shit in unification mode.
I don't know why slinging Ketar's blades over the shoulder looks cool, but it do
I am posting this from a computer why is this happening
It really irks me that half the elemental beasts are silver and the other gold. It means to look good only 3 Toa can be wearing their Gold masks, while the other 3 have to have their normal versions. Its just not very well designed
those trans green pieces glow under a blacklight. that's the only reason I'm getting it and the creature of stone.
Kopaka, Onua, and Gali don't glow under a blacklight, so I won't be getting them.
I need more glowing bionicle in my life
Hey guys, does the "Old Testament" have any of the comics? I have a lot of them, beginning with the second issue of the Bohrok saga and ending I think in the middle of Bara Magna. It's not complete but it would be something.
found it now that I have access to my computer
>why doesn't the set look feminine enough?
same people, some time later:
>why are you making bionicles with curves and breasts?
>Stone sets were shit from 2007 onward (With the exception of Vorox)
>Get G2 Pohatu and stone protector, fall in love with them
>Made a promise to myself to buy primarily stone sets this generation because I love brown/tan
>Scorpio had no brown
>G2 Pohatu is lanky and has too many shades of brown
>Mfw Lego will probably keep overloading stone sets with silver and neon green instead of giving us a consistent shade of brown
>Tfw can't decide between keeping Grievous intact or using his pieces to MOC
>tfw want Grievous for MOCing
>tfw too broke to get him
>tfw can't even fix the MOC I've been working on forever becase I've run out of ideas for it
Yep. From one of the later on comics, where they get turned into women by leprechauns. In other news, I've been working on a framework for my MOC, but now I'm having trouble coming up with good ways to "fill space", so to speak. Anyone have some good tutorials or similar shit that they have used for details in MOCing?
I have a question for /biog/. I'm planning to remake one member of the squad as a super beefed up version. Last year I had a ton of extra cash so I remade everyone. This year, budget is a lot tighter. Anyways, question time. Should I remake Uniter Gali or Uniter Tahu? The both seem desperately in need of a color scheme redo that can be achieved with a bigger set, but I have no idea which one I want to do since I don't have either set yet.
while everyone's buying the 2016 sets, I've been fiddling with my 2015 pieces and made a Takua for my Voriki to pal around with.
...now to wait for my 2016 Gali and Creature to arrive so I can figure out how to un-fuck her proportions.
Kulta can be a pretty awesome set if you moc.
or just do what I did and combine him with LoSS.jpg
honestly, this was the only thing that didn't make me regret purchasing LoSS. not pictured is the fuck-huge staff from the Kulta+Ekimu+Scorpio combiner that I gave him just so he'd have something other than an Axe.
1) You can look up instructions at Lego's site.
2) The build is stupidly easy. There are a total of four shells attached to it and a small technic bit to flesh out the armor that is four pieces in total. It isn't a Bionicles build.
1) I checked lego's site first and it wasn't available
2) I checked out a couple of youtube reviews and realized how simple it was. I thought it was one of the ones with a more complex torso.
why the fuck is that thing $20?
The Star Wars sets are always overpriced because of guaranteed sales and licensing fees.
All the other $20 sets from the last Star Wars ultra build set are in the 80-85 piece count range.
Since we're doing Skull Grinders right now, might as well toss in a "reimagining" I did some months ago.
The animation really pissed me off with big brute Kulta, since I imagined him more as an evil sorcerer who hid behind his army of skellies.
This is straight-up necromancer Kulta.
I always imagined Kulta as a sort of Warlord, always looking for new lands to conquer. the brawn to smack down even 6 Toa in an instant, the brains to know when and when not to take matters into his own hands.
one outa three ain't bad...I guess.
Hopefully never with what they're doing now.
Got suckered into buying Kylo. He's fucking shit. Sad that he's even in the same line as Grevious and Vader. Even Fett was better than him.
>even the set will never be as glorious as vader
My Kulta. Always thought of him as more of a lich/sorcerer, instead of a warrior.
Here's one more cool thing you can do with resin!
Accidentally get some of the pre-mixed chemicals on your hands (it doesn't even have to be a lot!), and absentmindedly touch your face.
Wait 24 hours, and voila, allergic skin reaction that spreads all over the face and even behind the ears! Also, it's itchy!
It would have been nice to know that existed beforehand. Fuck this shit I'm not touching it for two weeks.
Can't have credits anon, did you forget?
will do. More complicated parts are pretty tricky and I still haven't properly figured them out yet. When I do, expect to see tutorials and some stuff for sale.
I saw someone else who was duping mata masks, and they were concerned about there being legal trouble about selling bootlegs. Would there be? I imagine it'd be basically the same sort of thing Modalt and other mask customizers do.
I made Onua buff because I disliked his tiny new body
So... I actually quite like Ketar. Some very unique features and designs for a small set. I mean it isn't PERFECT, but Good Guy looks okay riding on him.
I've only every seen it on those. Know it doesn't really work on trans-light blue and trans-purple. And I've never seen anyone try trans-red, trans-dark blue or trans-yellow.
Of course I'm only talking about existing CCBS colours, no idea about the other system ones.
I put the ankle ones on the knees which made the legs themselves longer and the feet less stupid looking.
I still think he could do with some more dark orange but it does look sooo much better than the vanilla set
Most of these 2016 Toa are super close to being fucking great, they just have some stupid problems out of box. I guess if you own the 2015 ones its easy to fix with some simple part swaps
Like kopaka, pohatu, or lewa's funky color schemes or lewa's and galistiny arms or tahu's need of some solid red
The second anon here, and that's my biggest issue. Just about all of them are so fucking frustratingly close to being excellent. Like, what the fuck Lego? Give the designs five more minutes of thought.
As a vanilla build collector, now I'm stuck with ALMOST great sets on my shelf. FUCK.
how can you make gali look more feminine?
normal mode, 2015 & 2016 with creature and protector
hardmode, only her 2015 master & 2016 uniter parts
dante must die, only parts from 2015 master
For me, it sucks because I missed out on the 2015 stuff the first time they were in stores.
Now the stores just have shit like skull scorpion and buying that sure as shit won't help me improve the new Toa.
Friction extenders or longer bones for lewa's arm, maybe more green to balance out the crazy amount of silver
Again, Gali needs longer arms
Pohatu could use some extra dark tan balanced throughout so his mask doesn't look so out of place
Tahu could use some more solid red instead of just trans and gold so his mask fits in more
Onua is pretty good
Kopaka's wrists should be replaced with his 2015 thigh shells. They have dark blue patterns on them that match his chest armor amazingly well and balance his color scheme. Gold crystal addons replaced with the silver/blue ones from Gali, so his silver all matches instead of having 2 random bits of gold.
Also, all of them could use some more unique weapon builds, which shouldn't be hard for anyone who has some technic
Her set design looked pretty feminine already. Maybe less broad shoulders.
Does anyone else hate the feet pieces that Lego has used for the bionicle reboot so far
I don't know if they were used in hero factory or what, but I really hate them
They look like clown shoes and have that annoying gap in from of the ankle
My guess is that the unity modes are responsible for that. They needed to make sure that both the individual sets and a combination that can be done without taking anything apart look good, and since the combination is what you're paying extra for, there was probably more focus on optimzing that, even at the cost of the individual sets' quality.
I think 2015 has the perfect amount of womanliness. She looks feminine enough, but they didn't go overboard.
Uniter Gali? God dammit, Lego. Having her voiced by a guy last year confused kids enough. Now she's a short armed, long torsoed, big chinned, balding butch with goggles.
easymode: just add hips
I also turned the Master shoulder armor around, facing backwards, so it looks like they're some underwater thrusters.
>Damn my retardation. That looks so much better, but I've got an autistic peeve where I have to keep my sets vanilla.
Then you're going to hate my solution for feet accessories...
>how good does it hold on to the foot with only the nub rather than a full segment? does shaking it dislodge it?
It holds semi decently, I think only the most vigorous of shaking could take it off, and only due to the sheer size of the blades.
>at least it would solve the problem of black pegs staying in the foot
The entire reason I did it in the first place!
It also looks a bit better since the stud pins are a similar color and far more recessed than the black friction pins...
...The only Toa I haven't done this on are Pohatu, since his Stormerangs need that friction, and Gali, the only NuG1 Toa I don't have...
>CCBS is better
So now that 2015 is finished, can we let this meme die? CCBS has good parts, but as I think we can see with the 2016 Toa now, the future of constraction lies in a heavy return to the Technic building techniques and style we saw in the past. CCBS by itself is one of the most boring and uninspired systems I've ever seen.
So glad about the Technic integration this year, thank you Lego for letting the days of pure CCBS die.
Eh, it's not that bad, it is the basis for the buildable figures after all...
I think it's great.
The 2015 and 2016 sets are a good blend of technic and the CCBS skeleton/shell stuff.
Maybe the 2015 Toa were a little on the simple side visually, but they all managed to feel unique in ways that made sense.
The 2016 ones are great and definitely look like old bionicle thematically, (although the chestpiece is too clusterfucky for my taste)
The best way to improve would be add more detail add-ons, or make shells that have some texture to them on the sides. Someone posted a drawing here months ago of a CCBS shell with similar details to a Metru leg armor and it looked fantastic.
NO TIME, had to get those shots in and photograph another build.
I was a bit backed up from Christmas still.
I'm not the person, who posted the photo, but i also prefer to put that type of sword like in the photo.
Despite the cutting edge being put wrong, it just feels and look better, like the actual swords.
Idk not only does it look weird to me simply because the blade is facing the wrong way but also because the hook is supposed to pull off masks (though since umarak is a hunter i like to think that he also uses his to gut his catches) but either way it'd be ineffective facing that way
It doesnt look like a hook to me, it looks like a rugged sword edge(which would usually face backwards).
Well, to each their own, i guess. That's the good point about lego n stuff - you can do whatever you want
It's definitely designed to hook behind a mask and pull it off - but even if you view it as a rugged sword edge wouldn't it make more sense that the rugged edge would be on the blade since that's the part of the sword that get's clashed against other swords?
Pardon my English, i might have used the words in a wrong way.
What i'm saying is that the rugged part is the part the blacksmith(or whoever makes swords for bonkles) didnt give a damn about, so it was left Kind of unfinished.
And also, i think that the hook facing backwards made more sense, since its easier(and probably more fight-realistic, cause it would not require you to put the sword above someone's head leaving yourself open for their attacks) to take off someone's mask from the chin area like that.
And, picrelated is what i have in mind, when i look at that sword.
I understand and I do think it would make sense with the skull warriors for example: assuming their spears were mass-produced it would make sense that they were poorly made - though if they are an ancient army and not a recently created one I'd think that would also be a reason as to why their blades are so jagged
Grabbing a mask from underneath would probably be a more defensive way to use that type of blade, as it allows the user to keep it closer to their body, though I don't think grabbing it from the top would leave you too open, especially if you have two more like skull slicer XD
but since umarak is a hunter i like to think that he likes to take good care of his weapons so i don't think his weapon is like that because it was poorly made or because it's old (even though it is the same piece) but rather because it serves a functional purpose, not only for grabbing masks, but for gutting his catches
the knife in the pic is kind of what i imagine it as, and even though the gut hook does face the back, it would still have to be pointed foward to actually gut an animal
I like to think the "ribcage" is just the design of his armor, since there's no other bone-like pieces as is the case with the skull villians
And i really don't think lego would do two undead villians in a row
As for his mask - i don't think it looks cracked
Either way, i was actually talking about his weapons - i mean, you'd think a hunter would want to keep his weapons in shape so his bow doesn't jam or so his sword doesn't get dull on the hunt
>A macuahuitl ([maːˈkʷawit͡ɬ] (singular)) is a wooden sword with obsidian blades.
The Geography of Okoto makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
>region of stone was closest to the cataclysm so its a big ol' desert now
>Earth full of obsidian because next to fire region
>Jungle still jungle because protected by mountains
>Ice is to the north and is icy because it probably is the coldest and when all the vegetation died in the cataclysm it probably pushed it past the tipping point hence why it is tundra instead of jungle now.
So is this confirmed to be the Mask of Ultimate Power, or what?
Gonna commit heresy and paint one of these. So, /biog/, how should I paint it?
Target or directly from Lego.
Target Red Card has 5% discount and free shipping, you can get the debit card one which basically piggy backs on your normal card, but only at Target.
Lego Shop@Home has the VIP rewards which is an effective 5% discount and normally offers free shipping over $50 or $75.
Since I don't own Lewa 2016 Uxar decided to unite with something else.
There are literally too many possibilities (other than being smashed by a hammer) to list.
You're stupid for jumping to such a conclusion.
Besides, if he had the Mask of Ultimate Power, why would he want the Mask of Control so badly?
It's just an oddly specific design choice. The skullbads had ancient, decaying weapons and armor, but pristine masks, and Umarak has massive fractures all over his.
>if he had the Mask of Ultimate Power, why would he want the Mask of Control
Hypocritical to say, but it's too early to tell. We don't exactly know what the Mask Of Control even does at this point, or the Mask of Ultimate Power, for that matter. If I had to guess
>It's powerless/almost powerless from leaking mask juice for thousands of years, so Umarak needs the MoCo to repair it
>Umarak wants to make a super-mask by combining the MoCo, MoCr and MoUP
>Umarak needs the MoCo for something that the MoUP can't do, related to the beast sets
There's not enough information to discern his motivation yet, because what little 2016 lore we've got so far is just marketing stuff.
Onua's weapon is rad, but I'm surprised. Everyone was loving the technic half builds and Onua doesn't seem to have any for his limbs, until everyone else.
I know most are ranting on Tahu/Gali for color, but what about the build?
Gali has the simplest build too.
I would had preferred her to have one vorox pauldron and crystal armor on the thighs and the other elbow exposed.
I'm not against asymmetry but it never has worked for the legs.
Tahu: 9.5/10. His only problem are his shins, but most people are fine with it
Kopaka: 9/10. Despite the huge shins and stickers he's one of the best
Gali: 9.5/10. Again her only problem is her shin armor
Lewa: 8.5/10. Cool design, but it's ruined by his lack of head articulation
Onua: 8/10. In concept he looks cool, but the set is ultimately too top heavy and his mask feels tiny
Pohatu: 8/10. Too basic for most people and his color scheme turns people off. Personally I love him to death
Fire =/= Red, man. As far as I've seen, only DeeVee was throwing a real bitch-fit about that petty shit.
Tahu still has more than enough warm colors to clearly be seen as a fire Toa.
Anyone know the item number on the new/old technic piece that all the new Uniters are using? The one that his two peg holes with a 1M axle at the end, the sorta armor-ish piece?
I looked at the Lego site and under Bricks and Piece it isn't in any of the sets, and I can't find it on Bricklink, I'm not sure what category it would be under.
I know fire isn't red, but there has been a clear theme. Kopaka is white and trans blue/trans light blue, Onua is black and purple/trans purple. Tahu has always been red. I like the set too, but it really doesn't scream Tahu to me.
Seriously, though. When people say '16 Tahu isn't "Tahu" enough, I can't ignore bringing up his mask. '08, '15, and even '02 Tahu lacked a certain ferocity in the eye shapes that his new Tahu finally captures again.
I do wish we would get some more older ccbs Characters after the The Force Awakens wave. At least one more Sith, like Malgus, Revan or Bane. What character would you like to get?
>Kit Fisto ultrabuild
>WITH DUAL-INJECTION RUBBER HEADTACLES
I'm pretty sure Lewa's trans-green pieces do, Gali wouldn't tho. Pohatu and Tahu do too.
I'll be taking more pics once I get a few 2016 sets in a couple days.
I haven't made that many MOCs and I don't know what to make. Maybe a Toxic Reapa because he was my favorite design from HF for some reason.
What do you do when you don't know what to build?
Recent purchases? Not pictured are Roodaka and Sidorak, I'm waiting on a Keetongu so I can combine them to build Voporak.
Just Skull Warrior and Umarak. In a technicality, Toa Ignika and Keetongu because I finally was able to get the parts needed to finish them (after getting them unfinished in a garage sale lot).
what about maybe an AT-AT or some other things like the Rancor monster, Wampa, or those creatures in the arena in episode 2?
Some proper CIS droids would be nice, they could even reuse the Skull Squad bone piece.
I ended up making this. I'm happy with how the upper legs turned out, even though I'm sure it's not a new technique.
Are you serious? G2 Tahu is just kind of an idiot, but Kopaka is a fucking cunt for no reason.
"If you would have called an army of REAL warriors like ME, this would have taken no time!"
Seriously fuck him. Even G1 Kopaka wouldn't say bullshit like that.
So why is only Kopaka not-Nuva a package deal? And why do they keep taking away his shield and giving him a gimmick shooter? It sucked on Phantoka and it sucks now.
Only got Onua + his buddy, he's a bit top heavy, but pretty good.
I think my least favorite is Gali, the 2015 one was nicer looking and the new one doesn't look as good especially with the silver on the mask.
Been there done that. Tried using the light blue pakari too.
IMO nothings wrong with him, it's a good set. The gear function is fun, the new backpiece covers it really well, and the two cloth pieces are pretty useful. His only issue is the price point (which I presume is only due to him having a cape)
Made a Takua a while ago. The basic build has been online for a while, the only additions I made to mine were a jetpack and an assault rifle.
Side note, I feel like if someone made 3D printed guns for Bionicles, they would make a fortune.
I got the Rey ccbs set, and it's pretty decent, but I wish there was an alternate head. One with the triple buns hair. Anyone have any idea how hard it would be to 3d print something half decent looking? Do painted parts ever look remotely acceptable? My brother's school has a 3d printer, so that shouldn't be an issue.
WHERE DID YOU GET A 2015 GALI?!?!
>Some proper CIS droids would be nice, they could even reuse the Skull Squad bone piece.
>Side note, I feel like if someone made 3D printed guns for Bionicles, they would make a fortune.
But the new Force Awaken's Buildable Figures have a gun with working Spring Shooters!
>Search for new Bonkle
Not what I was after. Not pictured some other Skulls on different shelf
Alright now I've got to ask. Baka. Sorry for my newfagginess, I've been on here for a long time but these filters are annoying and confusing as fuck.
And honestly who the fuck still says desu this isn't high school you cunts.
Well no one used this after rampant accusations of self advertising and autism arose, but started using this as the main after this ones replacement thread ended. They made the other one to take the place of this one but then no one posted there because I honestly have no fucking clue dude can you merge threads here? Because we fucking well need to do that shit the rest of /toy/ is laughing at us goddamnit
Yeah, I know why this happened.
AFAIK, we can't. So, i guess, we get this to 500+ posts, and go to the other one WITHOUT creating the new one.
Seems to be the only option to me.
>the rest of /toy/ is laughing at us goddamnit
>Honestly I kind of liked Pohatu being afraid of the dark. Gave him a quirky little trait that added some depth. Didn't keep me from demolishing his '15 set to make Akamai though.
Well now at least he's got a dislike for Scorpions...
Alright guys, here he is - the improved General Grievous. Finally he is able to stand upright, I closed almost all gaps of the ccbs skeleton and generally added some more bulk. Oh and I Made every lightsaber somewhat different, like other Anons did before. Opinions?
Don't listen to that guy, I like what you did. Getting him to stand up straight is a pretty big deal; the set's default ankles especially were limiting him. The hips look pretty nice too, kind of like a mix between Witch Doctor and the standard large HF support-arm structure.
Did that guy from flickr ever post the instructions for his custom stormtrooper? Has anyone figured it out, or come up with a better way? My autism is compelling me to make a movie accurate memetrooper and I suck at mocing.
>tfw you took this pic almost a year ago and haven't built shit since.
