Quick question:
I saw in a review that the Bandai Model Kit Sandtrooper comes with two helmet hat parts. Is there a picture of all the Sandtroopers extra parts?

I like the Sandtroopers helmet more instead of the Model Kit Stormtrooper because of the adjustable brow but I also prefer the shin guard and stomach band from the normal Stromtrooper to the Sandtroopers.
>>
>>5375888
Use silly putty to mask off what you don't want painted and as a way to adhere the gun to a regular wooden skewer stuck into a junk cardboard box, then spray with any white primer that bonds to plastic, or a couple of coats of any other gloss spray paint that bonds to plastic.
Shouldn't cost more than $6 for the materials.

Assuming they stick the landing, Mafex Threepio is shaping up very nicely indeed. The finish looks the most movie-accurate of all figures shown so far and the wiring at the waist looks like it's all separate too. Like SHF, I think these are coming in a two-pack, R2 also includes his drinks tray from RotJ.

>>
>>5377061

Kylo is probably the best one overall, but that's not saying a whole lot, since he literally cannot even hold his weapon.

And, although it wasn't really outright stated, but these figures when seen on paperwork looked like they were going to blow Hasbro and the Black Series out of the fucking water.

What we ended up with were figures that were horribly out of scale with one another, had awful articulation, ugly as fuck screwholes all over the back, super top heavy to the point that they fall over thanks to tiny, plastic feet--even the stands don't always work particularly well--so that they often fall over, and you have to worry about paint chipping off due to moving the articulation, thanks to them being die-cast for 90% of the body (and the paint isn't even always the best looking to begin with.)

Only good thing about them is that the detailing is really nice. These are about the only figures that would probably just be best to keep them MISB and not even open them. At least they're sort of in action-y poses in the package. Take them out and most of them can really only pull of a stock "standing" pose, thanks to awkward, limited articulation.

>>

Yeah, I actually did a double take when I saw the molding at the shoulders. Then I saw it's actually on the real suit and things went completely off the rails. The ankles are still dumb though, it'd have been so easy to give them just a little more up/down range.

It really depends on the pose. It isn't super thick and blocky and ugly like the Black series one, and if you put it in a female stance (like most of the people here have done) you can make any figure look feminine.

it doesn't have perfect proportions, but miles more accurate than the BS. especially since it doesn't have the super long arms and wide hips of the bs

At least it can move outward at the shoulders, unlike the BS.

Hasbro fixed this with the FO trooper, thankfully.

Too bad they fucked it up by giving them a single-hinge elbow and no bicep swivel.

One step forward, two steps back, and all.
>>
>>5378370
the shoulderpads are completely adjustable to fit whatever shoulder width you prefer, not to mention the actual shoulders pop out for even more range and appearance adjusting, so what's the problem? Can't handle hasbro not doing a good job so you project what you hate about it on the shf?

One of the best figures I own in any scale. Seriously. Only bad thing is the limited backwards ankle movement and arguably the lack of a pistol.

Other than that it's packed with smart engineering choices and looks great. The whole armour's painted a high-gloss white, it's not bare plastic.

Funnily enough my father saw it chilling out on a bookcase during the holidays, and he doesn't normally acknowledge any of the figures I buy, but he actually stopped, stared at it for a minute and said 'that's the nicest figure I've ever seen you buy'.

So yeah, great figure.

Unless you're some kind of fuckwit who bought the figure from scalper central (AKA: Places like eBay, BBTS, etc) no one paid $60 for these.

They were sub-4000Y on pretty much every single major Japanese import site, which put them at about $32.

So yeah. I would pay an extra $12 for a figure that can actually move its arms around, and has matching white paint on all of its parts and lacks ugly black splotches all over the place where the 8 year old Chinese factory workers slathered their paint brushes.

You need better b8 m8. :^)

yes, some men do have their hands end past their crotch, but i very rarely see it in person, and clones had their wrist end midway, similar to the shf. the bs doesn't match those people though, the bs just has overly long arms. Only thing good about the BS is that the helmet sculpt is more accurate
>>
>>5379405
oh right, here we go, a finalized render from ep 3 showing bly's hand ending midway with a straightened arm AND his torso cocked in that direction. the funny thing is, the actual actor for jango/the clones has the hands end much sooner in his non cg outfit for jango, so really there's no winning for you bs fags here
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/2/24/Galle2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100826174916

i will say it again, though, the shf isn't perfect. having the crotch plate end past the crotch on the figure makes no sense, the ankles/helmet need work, etc. the problem is the BS has completely inaccurate proportions and has a terrifying finish. hell, tye elbow/kneepads are both painted with a thin, off white, and it looks horrible.

>>
>>5379451
when did i say that? i've been pointing out the shf clone isn'tbperfect in several of my posts, and i've also pointed out in the past the blatant problems with some of the newer shfs. Vader? garbage, rotj luke's head? doesn't look like hamill, but they're still superior to hasbro's offerings, especially luke. the black series is a hugely disappointing line with some sculpts worse than the vintage collection, and ugly as shit mold quality, joints, and paint apps. We've seen nothing but improvements for each sw shf, but the black series has gone down hill since its only 2 good releases, anh pilot luke and the sandtrooper.

the funny thing is, a lot of the shf criticism here is by people who don't collect either line, like subjectanon.
>>
>>5379591
It looks alright and has some weight to it but it's two pieces so there's a large line going through it. The voice changer doesn't work very well but it's a decent display piece.

sup lads.

Looking to pick up 1 of each of these characters and need advice on which company to get for each ensure they're all the best quality and of comparable height in relation to one another.

For Boba Fett, I've narrowed it down to the Revoltech version, but which version of the stormtrooper and Vader should I pick up? Mafex or SH Figurearts? Revoltech stormtrooper also looks very nice, but I'm unsure of the height relativity. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to fuck with Black Series at all as it seems to be pretty shit in comparison across the board. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
>>
>>5379812
Black Series Stormtrooper would be fine. He's one of the best Black Series figures.

For the Vader, I would say Mafex over Figuarts any day. He scales much better with the others, has an articulated cloth cape which gives him much better freedom of movement and adds more to your poses with the wires inside, and he's a good deal cheaper than the Figuarts.

>OT Stormtrooper

SHF is unfortunately crap. Well-made like most SHF figures but riddled with baffling inaccuracies and limited articulation.

Black Series is nothing special, decent sculpt marred by Hasbro's penny-pinching materials, paint applications and QC standards. Helmet is nowhere near accurate, despite what others will tell you.

Revoltech is surprisingly accurate and extremely-well-articulated. Has lanklet proportions though.

Mafex has all the features the SHF should have had, but the ENTIRE armour is made of a soft, rubbery white material over a black skeleton. Looks and feels cheap in-hand.

Best goes to the Bandai model kit, honestly.

>Boba Fett

No SHF announced yet, but they did show off a Jango Fett prototype. It looks less than stellar though, in all honesty.

Black Series Boba Fett is just too damn bright. He's meant to be ESB Boba but the suit isn't blue enough and the armour isn't drab enough. Also it's marred by the usual Black Series issues, the worst being hard rubber hip pouches that prevent him from getting much use from his legs.

Mafex have shown off a prototype ESB Boba Fett and it looks perfect. No idea if that will translate to the finished product but as it stands it's by far the best announced to date.

Revoltech has the same issue as the Black Series release. Meant to be ESB Boba, but the colours are even brighter than RotJ Boba. Also has skinny proportions and ugly joints.

Bandai model kit is fantastic. Requires painting and weathering skills to get the best out of it though.

Wait for the Mafex, while you're waiting there might be an SHF version announced.
>>
>>5379878
>Vader

SHF is crap. Beautifully-made and finished crap, but crap nonetheless. Too short to scale with even other Figuarts, wrong colour/texture on certain parts of suit, fixed plastic cape and tunic, head is off, too stocky, knees look awful.

Black Series looks like a sad Walrus. Has a few nice elements like a real metal chain for the cape, but overall should be avoided.

Mafex looks great. A lot of film-accurate detailing and the excellent unmasked Vader head from the SHF Luke Skywalker will fit straight onto its neck peg. Not as well-made as the SHF release, but makes up for it in accuracy, height and articulation.

Revoltech is weird. If your dream is to have a Vader in the style of Nightow's Trigun manga it may be the figure for you. Otherwise, avoid.

Bandai model kit is nice. Needs a lot of mods like a cloth cape and tunic, and paint, to really shine though.

Best is probably Mafex, or wait for the inevitable 'oh shit we fucked that up spectacularly the first time' Vader 2.0 from SHF.

As an aside, while the Vader and Trooper SHFs were pretty poor on some levels, everything since has been solid. They seem like the way to go for most characters moving forward.

Might be the POTF version released in 1997.

http://www.rebelscum.com/potf2tiefighter.asp

I think the first Kenner version used stickers for the wings?
He kinda looks like me. Sort of. People who look like me are under-represented in movies.
mm, the Fighter i has doesn't have stickers other then the control panel in the cockpit, it didn't come with anything else really, just the Fighter itself
>>
>>5380796
>People who look like me are under-represented in movies
no, having someone that looks like that in any movie is more representation than they should have.

anyway, I don't think there are any unmasked figures of him. Get the black series or figuarts. or both, and combine good parts of both of them.
>>
>>5380801
It looks like you have the 30th anniversary version that has a color scheme similar to the vintage one http://www.rebelscum.com/tacTIEfighter.asp
>>5380802
There is a Disney Elite Series figure of Ren without his helmet that came out not too long ago

Finally reassembled the Kylo that I worked on subtle fixes for. I'd drilled out the inside of the head so now it'll look up a little further (this is pretty dramatic with the robes removed) , trimmed a lot of flashing off of every body part, and painted the mask and saber a bright silver.
Still need to go in. And panel line the mask and get the little bits of color back onto the saber, but I'm pretty happy so far. I guess I should also trim the robe, but I also want to put a few dabs of glue into the hood so that it keeps a nicer shape.

rude desu

I'm not some Tumblrina dickwad that gets mad if people don't look like me in movies, if that's the impression that I'm giving off that's making you so butthurt. I just enjoy it occasionally when they do.

I'm assuming you're butthurt, by the way, because there's no other reason to have such an adverse reaction to something so innocuous.

>anyway, I don't think there are any unmasked figures of him. Get the black series or figuarts. or both, and combine good parts of both of them.
kk looking that up, thanks.

What's a good, medium sized ship line? I want to pick up a TIE interceptor and B-wing, but the micro machines stuff is too small. What's something inbetween those and the way-too-big 3.75' vehicles?

The lighting is so shit, god.

Jesus Christ dude all you have to do is put your arms down to the sides while standing straight up. Is that so fucking hard to do? Or do you just like living in your delusional world too much to find out the truth?

calm down, friend. I was just being a cunt because he looks like a whiny emo bitch. which he was, so his actor suited the role well.

I'm sorry, it's just that bad lighting bothers me since it's so easy to get decent lighting.

I really want a Threepio, thinking of the Bandai model. Anyone have one, or any Threepio figs, they can show off?

Last I checked the Leavenworth, KS Walmart still had Two Hux, two Rey, a Kylo Ren, a TIE pilot, and last night they stocked a Resistance Fighter who looks cool as Hell.

Yeah happened to me with a Chinese seller. I found the same item and it was being sold by a seller under a different username. Basically I emailed him and he said give it a couple weeks and then it still never came so he gave me my money back

Do the wings pop off when you press a button? I got a set of that tie and and xwing repackaged around the time of the OT being released on dvd.

Someone chopped up one that looked good. If I had a second one, I'd do it.. or buy the Kmart one. Fuck Kmart for not being within 6 hours of my house.

I have two Black Series Sandtroopers. How difficult do you think it'd be to change the color of the pauldron?

You have to hit Walmart brother. That's where I've been seeing the Asty wave in abundance. Good luck.

Mafex & Figuarts are coming this year. Mafex is already on pre-order
>>
>>5380819
The Starkiller base kylo has the Saber more like the movie. They may have formed it all together so that you can display him with no blade out. Since I have both I'll probably display the first one with old Han to recreate you know what

Black Series or Kit Boba, Mafex Vader & Mafex or Kit Stormtrooper.
>>
>>5381028

They're usually doing aisle resets this time of year. As soon as you see that happen starting hitting the stores daily. That's how I scored.
>>
Just got the battlefront trooper from Walmart. A huge fan will probably post some pics tomorrow

itt: people arguing that their proportions are perfect and everyone else's are wrong
People vary in height, width, and all sorts of crazy different measurements for almost every body part.

Here's a cool tidbit: your forearm is as long as your foot and the size of your foot correlates with your height.

So everyone with stubby arms, how short are you?

Was able to snag an Amazon restock of the black series kylo ren helmet for 65 with free shipping.

UK or US? Either way, that's a tiny shoe. How do you even balance?
>>
How are the movie realization stuff? Considering getting all of them as I just picked up Vader on Mandarake.
>>
I was wondering how the elite series figures are doing, was thinking of grabbing a rey with lightsaber so finn gets the lightsaber, or a maul, but if they have kylo ben, (unmasked) then should I grab him, and give one of the kylo lightsabers to black series phasma? I was considering giving her a lightsaber, just because she would be cool enough with one, but I do not know about elite lightsaber qualities.

>>5381852
US men's

I only weigh ~130lbs, there's not a lot to balance.

How does the 6 inch Hux look? I want to pick him up to go with Kylo but I don't know how terrible his face looks.
