Only thing wrong with him was his shoulders. After modding them, I agree.
Can't argue there, but the model's helmet has that extra bit of plastic under the chin, bothers the shit outta me. Wonder if it could be cut out.
Looks like it's actually there on the real thing though
Doesn't fill in nearly as much as the model kit does.
>pre Episode VII
>looking for BS Phasma, she'll probably be a cool Fett type character
>see BS Finn, Poe and Rey
>Pass on them because they're just mere humans with not exactly eye-catching designs
>Watch Episode VII
>Finn is lovable everyman, Rey is stronk qt, Poe pretty much destroys the Death Star 2: Electric Boogaloo by himself
>Shit these guys are cool I should probably buy them
>No more to be found
>Not even Finn, who shelfwarmed hard
>Canadian so chances of restock are few and far between
>In Toronto so every scarce restock is quickly poached up due to being populated af
I don't want to order toys I can get locally online...
Also the best thing about the model kits is how well it hides the joints
I noticed that as soon as I opened it. The overall styling of it really evokes femininity. I've just accepted it and use it as a female now.
If anything, the way the suit is built reminds me of how a lot of superheroes are portrayed with broad shoulders and a narrow waist and makes it look more organic.
I don't know, I'm still seeing a hot babe under that armor
It's out there a Yoda 6 inch figure that doesn't look like shit?
>TFA was such an effective remake of ANH that casuals really believe it's a reboot
Has anyone removed the soft goods from Black Series Kylo Ren? I'm really curious about the sculpt under there. The head and plastic scarf piece wouldn't be too hard to remove, but I don't know how I'd take the soft goods cloak off and on without damaging it.
I saw in a review that the Bandai Model Kit Sandtrooper comes with two helmet hat parts. Is there a picture of all the Sandtroopers extra parts?
I like the Sandtroopers helmet more instead of the Model Kit Stormtrooper because of the adjustable brow but I also prefer the shin guard and stomach band from the normal Stromtrooper to the Sandtroopers.
Use silly putty to mask off what you don't want painted and as a way to adhere the gun to a regular wooden skewer stuck into a junk cardboard box, then spray with any white primer that bonds to plastic, or a couple of coats of any other gloss spray paint that bonds to plastic.
Shouldn't cost more than $6 for the materials.
Anyone in the KCK area, if you drive out to Leavenworth they had two General Hux, two Rey, a Kylo Ren (somewhere?? I don't know if they put it back it was hidden somewhere), and a TIE Pilot.
What characters do you guys want to see done in this style?
not just any magna guard!! Grevious's with cape and staff! anything else and it just isnt the same, I remember being really dissapointed playing starwars battlefront 2 for the first time when the only magna guard you could play as were ones with capes and staff! just wasn't the same.
>excited for star wars
>buy find phasma and kylo out of sheer luck
>look around for other cool figures
>finns for days
>kek and take phasma and kylo
>watch movie on opening day
>phasma did nothing and kylo is shit
>now stuck with the figures
>really want finn and rey
Shit sucks man
Not just one, but five.
So far we've seen prototypes of:
>A New Hope Threepio (comes in 2-pack with ANH Artoo
>Attack of the Clones Threepio
>Attack of the Clones Battle Droid head on Threepio body
>Attack of the Clones Threepio head on Battle Droid body
>Force Awakens Punished Threepio
>Attack of the Clones Battle Droid head on Threepio body
>Attack of the Clones Threepio head on Battle Droid body
There's something fishy about this but I can't quite put my finger on it...
just picked this up for $10 at a swap meet
I still feel like I got ripped off. why can't the US make action figures well?
Assuming they stick the landing, Mafex Threepio is shaping up very nicely indeed. The finish looks the most movie-accurate of all figures shown so far and the wiring at the waist looks like it's all separate too. Like SHF, I think these are coming in a two-pack, R2 also includes his drinks tray from RotJ.
I think the Kylo Ren looks a lot better than the Black Series one, just a shame about the total lack of articulation. They're really more statues with moveable parts than a figure, and are decent as that.
Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but I just saw the movie and I loved the TRAITOR scene. I noticed the Figuarts trooper doesn't come with the baton, so what's my bet option for a Trooper with the riot prod?
Accidentally posted this in the old general.
Offered the guy $35 and was surprised that he actually accepted, I'll post pics when I get it.
Ended up paying €60 for it with shipping, I can always flip that for more in my country if I don't like it.
Kylo is probably the best one overall, but that's not saying a whole lot, since he literally cannot even hold his weapon.
And, although it wasn't really outright stated, but these figures when seen on paperwork looked like they were going to blow Hasbro and the Black Series out of the fucking water.
What we ended up with were figures that were horribly out of scale with one another, had awful articulation, ugly as fuck screwholes all over the back, super top heavy to the point that they fall over thanks to tiny, plastic feet--even the stands don't always work particularly well--so that they often fall over, and you have to worry about paint chipping off due to moving the articulation, thanks to them being die-cast for 90% of the body (and the paint isn't even always the best looking to begin with.)
Only good thing about them is that the detailing is really nice. These are about the only figures that would probably just be best to keep them MISB and not even open them. At least they're sort of in action-y poses in the package. Take them out and most of them can really only pull of a stock "standing" pose, thanks to awkward, limited articulation.
Where can one get a SHF FO trooper for not $80?
and does anyone know when this guys PO goes up?
I actually don't mind the ankles that much, though they should definitely be better. I'm upset at the wasted opportunity to include butterfly joints at the shoulders. There's already seams in the armor, could've been easy
Yeah, I actually did a double take when I saw the molding at the shoulders. Then I saw it's actually on the real suit and things went completely off the rails. The ankles are still dumb though, it'd have been so easy to give them just a little more up/down range.
yeah, I'm not seeing that. like, at all. It sounds to me like a couple dipshits found out phasma had a vagina and now all storm troopers are feminine.
It really depends on the pose. It isn't super thick and blocky and ugly like the Black series one, and if you put it in a female stance (like most of the people here have done) you can make any figure look feminine.
no. they just look like they were posed to try to make them look feminine.
>tfw no black series AT-ST
I get that it would be 200 dollars, but come on, man, why can't we have something fun?
they don't look very different. but I'm also not trying really hard to find a flaw.
Hell, I'd settle for a landspeeder. I honestly figured the only reason they were holding out on the farmboy luke was so they could release it with a landspeeder, but then they revealed it and now I don't know when we're gonna get one.
Does anyone know which C3PO this is?
That's black series luke on the left afaik
it doesn't have perfect proportions, but miles more accurate than the BS. especially since it doesn't have the super long arms and wide hips of the bs
the fact that you think they're bad though just shows you know nothing of the source or overall anatomy
At least it can move outward at the shoulders, unlike the BS.
Hasbro fixed this with the FO trooper, thankfully.
Too bad they fucked it up by giving them a single-hinge elbow and no bicep swivel.
One step forward, two steps back, and all.
the shoulderpads are completely adjustable to fit whatever shoulder width you prefer, not to mention the actual shoulders pop out for even more range and appearance adjusting, so what's the problem? Can't handle hasbro not doing a good job so you project what you hate about it on the shf?
One of the best figures I own in any scale. Seriously. Only bad thing is the limited backwards ankle movement and arguably the lack of a pistol.
Other than that it's packed with smart engineering choices and looks great. The whole armour's painted a high-gloss white, it's not bare plastic.
Funnily enough my father saw it chilling out on a bookcase during the holidays, and he doesn't normally acknowledge any of the figures I buy, but he actually stopped, stared at it for a minute and said 'that's the nicest figure I've ever seen you buy'.
So yeah, great figure.
So there aren't any decent 6" Episode III clones on the market, are there?
Always preferred the design, but the AotC armor seems to be the first pick every time.
>Weabos are still buttthurt because they paid 3 times the price for a piece of shit.
Unless you're some kind of fuckwit who bought the figure from scalper central (AKA: Places like eBay, BBTS, etc) no one paid $60 for these.
They were sub-4000Y on pretty much every single major Japanese import site, which put them at about $32.
So yeah. I would pay an extra $12 for a figure that can actually move its arms around, and has matching white paint on all of its parts and lacks ugly black splotches all over the place where the 8 year old Chinese factory workers slathered their paint brushes.
You need better b8 m8. :^)
>8 year old Chinese factory workers
To be fair both brands made this crap in China, probably for the same 8 year old chinese workers.
You can't discipline that which has no discipline.
I gave this guy a bike and a gun made from scrap and took his treachery to the next level.
Oh look, it's a /v/ image. Why don't you fuck off back there?
On the subject of Clones, mine finally showed up this morning. They're so much nicer than the Black Series ones I almost feel sorry for Hasbro. Almost.
Literally the only difference is the helmet. Hasbro and Bandai could conceivably have included two heads with each trooper, but didn't because they know full well you'll buy a whole extra figure.
(Well, I won't - Phase 1 is my favourite - but most people will)
>"Super long arms on bs"
No you idiot, arms are not supposed to end at the beginning of the crotch area. You know who's arms end at their crotch? People who have trex arm like disfigurements, that's who.
Put your arms down to the side right now. Yeah, that's what I thought.
mine end before my crotch, too. a lot of people do. also the armor plate on the clone hangs too low, so the hands end about midway
i'd post pictures of some guys with good anatony but alas wii u browser cannot download images, so have links instead
there's hundreds more but you get it. subjectanon tried to argue that loomis proportions are the best proportions, when many people recognize loomis's proportions as being apelike.
do you look like an ape, sir?
posting more so you get the picture http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/male-body-1318346.jpg
yes, some men do have their hands end past their crotch, but i very rarely see it in person, and clones had their wrist end midway, similar to the shf. the bs doesn't match those people though, the bs just has overly long arms. Only thing good about the BS is that the helmet sculpt is more accurate
oh right, here we go, a finalized render from ep 3 showing bly's hand ending midway with a straightened arm AND his torso cocked in that direction. the funny thing is, the actual actor for jango/the clones has the hands end much sooner in his non cg outfit for jango, so really there's no winning for you bs fags here
i will say it again, though, the shf isn't perfect. having the crotch plate end past the crotch on the figure makes no sense, the ankles/helmet need work, etc. the problem is the BS has completely inaccurate proportions and has a terrifying finish. hell, tye elbow/kneepads are both painted with a thin, off white, and it looks horrible.
>11 pcs in stock at closest target
>no Hux or Phasma
>be in vicinity for other reasons
>guava, Finn, repack Kylo with new hat, repack Rey with new paint, Stormtrooper, TIE pilot
Can't figure if my Target skipped a wave or not, but I guess I'm done with Black Series. Not sure I'll even want to bother with Ahsoka or Ep 1 Luke later this year. Probably going to return this TIE pilot in a few days.
Got the Micro Machines Stormtrooper head playset yesterday. It could have had more scenery and play features but it gets the job done. I am really curious to see how the Kylo Ren head playset turns out
I'm a bit new to the Star Wars toy game, but I couldn't help myself and bought BS Rey and Kylo Ren (who is having a fun time beating up my SHF Riders atm).
Whats the best way to get an in-scale lightsaber for Rey other than buying a BS Luke and stealing it from that?
when did i say that? i've been pointing out the shf clone isn'tbperfect in several of my posts, and i've also pointed out in the past the blatant problems with some of the newer shfs. Vader? garbage, rotj luke's head? doesn't look like hamill, but they're still superior to hasbro's offerings, especially luke. the black series is a hugely disappointing line with some sculpts worse than the vintage collection, and ugly as shit mold quality, joints, and paint apps. We've seen nothing but improvements for each sw shf, but the black series has gone down hill since its only 2 good releases, anh pilot luke and the sandtrooper.
the funny thing is, a lot of the shf criticism here is by people who don't collect either line, like subjectanon.
>out in bumfuck nowhere
>check out their Kmart
>find one each of black series trooper, phasma and kylo ren
First time I had seen any of them in a store
Looking to pick up 1 of each of these characters and need advice on which company to get for each ensure they're all the best quality and of comparable height in relation to one another.
For Boba Fett, I've narrowed it down to the Revoltech version, but which version of the stormtrooper and Vader should I pick up? Mafex or SH Figurearts? Revoltech stormtrooper also looks very nice, but I'm unsure of the height relativity. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to fuck with Black Series at all as it seems to be pretty shit in comparison across the board. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
Black Series Stormtrooper would be fine. He's one of the best Black Series figures.
For the Vader, I would say Mafex over Figuarts any day. He scales much better with the others, has an articulated cloth cape which gives him much better freedom of movement and adds more to your poses with the wires inside, and he's a good deal cheaper than the Figuarts.
Model kit stormtrooper is best, easy to put together and doesn't require much work. Figuarts Vader is kinda out of scale and short, but still good. And I'd recommend the model kit Boba Fett instead, if you're willing to put some work into it. The revoltech looks like a cartoon
Thanks senpai. The Black Series seemed pretty low quality, but I guess it varies greatly by figure.
What's the best place to pick these up? I'm looking at amazon right now. Ebay seems to have them for much cheaper but I don't trust anything coming from China. I'm assuming I can't get the Black Series OT Stormtrooper in-store anymore.
SHF is unfortunately crap. Well-made like most SHF figures but riddled with baffling inaccuracies and limited articulation.
Black Series is nothing special, decent sculpt marred by Hasbro's penny-pinching materials, paint applications and QC standards. Helmet is nowhere near accurate, despite what others will tell you.
Revoltech is surprisingly accurate and extremely-well-articulated. Has lanklet proportions though.
Mafex has all the features the SHF should have had, but the ENTIRE armour is made of a soft, rubbery white material over a black skeleton. Looks and feels cheap in-hand.
Best goes to the Bandai model kit, honestly.
No SHF announced yet, but they did show off a Jango Fett prototype. It looks less than stellar though, in all honesty.
Black Series Boba Fett is just too damn bright. He's meant to be ESB Boba but the suit isn't blue enough and the armour isn't drab enough. Also it's marred by the usual Black Series issues, the worst being hard rubber hip pouches that prevent him from getting much use from his legs.
Mafex have shown off a prototype ESB Boba Fett and it looks perfect. No idea if that will translate to the finished product but as it stands it's by far the best announced to date.
Revoltech has the same issue as the Black Series release. Meant to be ESB Boba, but the colours are even brighter than RotJ Boba. Also has skinny proportions and ugly joints.
Bandai model kit is fantastic. Requires painting and weathering skills to get the best out of it though.
Wait for the Mafex, while you're waiting there might be an SHF version announced.
SHF is crap. Beautifully-made and finished crap, but crap nonetheless. Too short to scale with even other Figuarts, wrong colour/texture on certain parts of suit, fixed plastic cape and tunic, head is off, too stocky, knees look awful.
Black Series looks like a sad Walrus. Has a few nice elements like a real metal chain for the cape, but overall should be avoided.
Mafex looks great. A lot of film-accurate detailing and the excellent unmasked Vader head from the SHF Luke Skywalker will fit straight onto its neck peg. Not as well-made as the SHF release, but makes up for it in accuracy, height and articulation.
Revoltech is weird. If your dream is to have a Vader in the style of Nightow's Trigun manga it may be the figure for you. Otherwise, avoid.
Bandai model kit is nice. Needs a lot of mods like a cloth cape and tunic, and paint, to really shine though.
Best is probably Mafex, or wait for the inevitable 'oh shit we fucked that up spectacularly the first time' Vader 2.0 from SHF.
As an aside, while the Vader and Trooper SHFs were pretty poor on some levels, everything since has been solid. They seem like the way to go for most characters moving forward.
How much painting?
>Mafex looks great. A lot of film-accurate detailing
The chest doesn't look right though, the top silver part goes down too far which moves the box too far down as well
>He looks like a fat cosplayer
that was my thought. Not sure why people recommend him, i think im going to get the bandai kit.
What's the best kylo available? Amazon only has black series but it seems alright.
I think the finish on the model kit better, but the Figuarts has better hands and shoulders.
Those are correct proportions for arms. That's exactly how far they should go if you have normal arms. There are plenty of things wrong with TBS but your argument is not one of those things.
They didn't waste any time teaming up.....
To be honest, they are kinda dicks.....
I may have to keep them separated in the future....
Hey guys, I have a quick question, maybe you could help. I ordered that bootleg Darth Maul black series from ebay some people have been grabbing. It has yet to arrive, but I checked today and the seller is no longer on ebay. Should I start a ticket to get my money back?
no, they're too far for the actor and cg model, learn what accuracy is. not to mention most males don't have their wrists lline up with the end of their crotches. maybe look at 1 of the many examples i posted, especially the one of the star corps trooper, or look up some jango fett pics for yourself. your argument is wrong, just stop posting
Depends on what you want. If you want one from the films force fx are good i believe. Saberforge and ultrasabers are good and are going to be better for fighting. Also depends on price range.
>Those are correct proportions for arms. That's exactly how far they should go if you have normal arms.
so most men don't have normally proportioned arms? or could you just be talking out of your ass
either way, someone offered a bunch of images showing arm length, some even being paid for photoshoots for having ideal proportions, so please shut up, you and subjectanon don't know how proportions work
How difficult is it to build these kits?
I have never built a model kit before, closest thing to it would be pinewood derby cars, the bike for the two figma cyclists, and the little armory guns.
hey guys, what year is this TIE Fighter from? i haven't a clue i just know it has severe age with some yellowing and i have faint memories of getting this, but i cant find the year its from, i'll get more pics, stormtrooper's for reference
Just here in my garage, just bought this new Aratech, it's fun to drive around the Endor Woods. But you know what I like a lot more than speeder bikes?
are you sure? i remember getting it around the 2000's
Might be the POTF version released in 1997.
I think the first Kenner version used stickers for the wings?
He kinda looks like me. Sort of. People who look like me are under-represented in movies.
>People who look like me are under-represented in movies
no, having someone that looks like that in any movie is more representation than they should have.
anyway, I don't think there are any unmasked figures of him. Get the black series or figuarts. or both, and combine good parts of both of them.
Finally reassembled the Kylo that I worked on subtle fixes for. I'd drilled out the inside of the head so now it'll look up a little further (this is pretty dramatic with the robes removed) , trimmed a lot of flashing off of every body part, and painted the mask and saber a bright silver.
Still need to go in. And panel line the mask and get the little bits of color back onto the saber, but I'm pretty happy so far. I guess I should also trim the robe, but I also want to put a few dabs of glue into the hood so that it keeps a nicer shape.
>no, having someone that looks like that in any movie is more representation than they should have.
I'm not some Tumblrina dickwad that gets mad if people don't look like me in movies, if that's the impression that I'm giving off that's making you so butthurt. I just enjoy it occasionally when they do.
I'm assuming you're butthurt, by the way, because there's no other reason to have such an adverse reaction to something so innocuous.
>anyway, I don't think there are any unmasked figures of him. Get the black series or figuarts. or both, and combine good parts of both of them.
kk looking that up, thanks.
damn man, ayy lmao that might be it, thx for your help
What's a good, medium sized ship line? I want to pick up a TIE interceptor and B-wing, but the micro machines stuff is too small. What's something inbetween those and the way-too-big 3.75' vehicles?
Jesus Christ dude all you have to do is put your arms down to the sides while standing straight up. Is that so fucking hard to do? Or do you just like living in your delusional world too much to find out the truth?
>I'm assuming you're butthurt, by the way, because there's no other reason to have such an adverse reaction to something so innocuous.
calm down, friend. I was just being a cunt because he looks like a whiny emo bitch. which he was, so his actor suited the role well.
I'm sorry, it's just that bad lighting bothers me since it's so easy to get decent lighting.
what are you fucking retarded? i answered this, my fists end right where my crotch ends, as it is for many men, given the examples i posted.
ger your head out of your ass and read before you post
Yeah happened to me with a Chinese seller. I found the same item and it was being sold by a seller under a different username. Basically I emailed him and he said give it a couple weeks and then it still never came so he gave me my money back
The Starkiller base kylo has the Saber more like the movie. They may have formed it all together so that you can display him with no blade out. Since I have both I'll probably display the first one with old Han to recreate you know what
Fix the lightsaber bro. It only takes an razor and a bit of glue.
itt: people arguing that their proportions are perfect and everyone else's are wrong
People vary in height, width, and all sorts of crazy different measurements for almost every body part.
Here's a cool tidbit: your forearm is as long as your foot and the size of your foot correlates with your height.
So everyone with stubby arms, how short are you?
i highly recommend picking up the Takara Tomy Metal Figure Collection BB-8. He fits in very well with the 3.75 figures
I was wondering how the elite series figures are doing, was thinking of grabbing a rey with lightsaber so finn gets the lightsaber, or a maul, but if they have kylo ben, (unmasked) then should I grab him, and give one of the kylo lightsabers to black series phasma? I was considering giving her a lightsaber, just because she would be cool enough with one, but I do not know about elite lightsaber qualities.
