New thread for the glorious skylynx!
why are there 2 threads and do I stick to this one (01/01/2016) or the other (12/31/15) which has more post?
>>5372598 Dragstrip Anon here
Well i did one last toy-hunt sweep and turned up squat, so my only choices to fill out my menasor are get the full UW or get a marked up Breakneck from Amazon.
It's just really annoying that I have pretty much every combiner team (that isn't G1 autobot repaint filler) filled out EXCEPT for Dragstrip.
What do you guys reccomend?
Any way to keep CW Defensor's legs from doing the splits? His legs are so damn floppy on the side-to-side axis.
I can handle his torso leaning forward but I'd at least like to be able to pose him SLIGHTLY
Same guy again. Is there a good avenue for selling off my old combiner wars figures if i get the UW? They're not exactly in the best condition. My Motormaster came with two wheels missing and has a cracked neck-plate for his combiner head. The Dead End has not so great joints and some future polish applied, and Breakdown's breakdown.
Should I just set them aside for future galvatron use or could i get something for em
Question for about the rook/swindle mold
The leg mode usually has you fold up the front part of vehicle, and the feet to make it in line with the rest of the leg modes. if the don't fold those bits away and leave it in the straight vehicle mode, does it match drag-strip with the spoiler down, or breakdown with his feet foled down?
You could probably get a few bucks off eBay, maybe. But thats about it. You could just save'em and use'em for Cyclonus/Betatron/Skylynx, or just buy the CW figure you're missing and eat the cost, since it'd be less than buying a full, new UW set.
That sounds like a manufacturing defect honestly. I have a CW Defensor, his legs don't flop at all. Worst he has is the right tab lock problem on his right leg, but damn near every CW Hotspot has that problem since it's a known defect in the mold that it won't tab in super securely.
Oh...It's just the tab lock? I dunno if theres a fix, mine doesn't just flop out either. It only tends to unclick if I fiddle with the leg. You could try futureshine maybe, I honestly have no idea if that would work. Some other Anon's might know better, but it honestly sounds like you've got a whole 'nother level of issue beyond what there normally is.
Continuing to polish a turd. This mod didn't end up the way I thought it would, but it still works.
i have 3/4 Combatacon limbs, went to TRU to look for Swindle. I found 1 Vortex. ONE, of the most used mold out of Combiner Wars....I think TRU did that on purpose, just to laugh at Transformer collectors lol
How do you autists keep convincing me to mutilate my precious plastic crack.
Are you faggots hiding any other great mods from me?
you have to dig out the circled piece of plastic with an exacto knife. As you can see, the end result is still transformable.
So last thread I doing a pastebin of /TFG/'s recommended transformers. What else should I add to it?
>Pretty much every thrilling 30/cw legends figure
I think these two should be on just for the engineering alone. Bulkhead's transformation is spectacular and doesn't even use any fake parts.
I'd also say FE Cliffjumper and Starscream, but they aren't as well put together as the voyagers.
I'd second these two. I know people give that Optimus shit for fake window boobs, but he's a work of art otherwise, and that's really the only way you can get windows that look show-accurate in both modes short of a Leader ROTF Prime sized/complex toy.
>Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive
I don't own the rest but those are all completely solid figures, nothing to troll about them.
What's a good glue to use on plastics? An accident has broken the door wing off of my Masterpiece Prowl, and I need to re-set it.
Lucky me, the break happened in such a way that when it's whole again, the fracture is INSIDE the door. I just hope the joint will still work after I mend it.
This Sunday (SUNDAY) Cybertron arena welcome the combiner fight of the century! It's Jesus Prime ("freedom is the right of at least white people") taking on Satan Prime("I'll fUcKiNg KiLl yOu!") come see the showdown of raw sword beat downs(BEAT DOWN!) in a laser filled world!

Be there for the fight nobody ask for!
>it's just the UW version is more practical to buy at the moment cause the CW is scalped to hell and back.
>limited Japan toys imports are cheaper than the stateside product
What a time to live.
>bunch of amazing shit on the list
You should seperate stuff into CHUG/not CHUG stuff too. If only because when people are looking for a character and are new to the hobby, there might be like 20 fucking variations on that character and looking for a specific kind (usually CHUG stuff).
>finally find reissue Powermaster Optimus prime for a nice cheap price, no Godbomber but complete otherwise
>get it, boots of trailer are 2 separate shades of blue
Shit, now I don't even want it. I don't even think it's yellowing because it's an even shade all over, maybe some batch variation in the plastic and there's no yellowing around it, but shit, the 2 halves aren't even. Fuck me, guess I should sell it for what I can and save up for one of the damned boxed copies.
shit, fuck. I just noticed some yellowing on another part of the trailer, and popping Hi-Q out of the cab it's yellowed. Seller asked mint condition prices for this, too.
Off to file a Paypal claim. Seller is soppsoed to be a professional toy seller and didn't notice the damage?
I agree, gold and black go well together.
Problem is, Nemesis Prime is normally a a black and teal character with translucent (or painted) red windows and weapons.
So while black and gold do look good together, they don't FIT the character.
That's like making a primarily pink and white Megatron with black highlights. Sure those colors work together, but they'd look like shit on a character like Megatron.
Might as well get the one with all the paint. Even the G2 version looks better.
Is it possible to make a moden Cheetor toy with a good robot AND animal mode?
So here's an interesting turn of events. Two of the 3 Walmarts in my area have pulled transformers off the shelves completely. No RID no CW no empty pegs as far as both stores are concerned there is no current TF line. I was even told the same thing by two different people in the two different stores, as far as they know TF is going to be a TRU exclusive and/or Walmart simply isn't going to carry them going forward. The remaining Walmart hasn't had a wave update since Repaint Prime and never got in voyagers passed Silverbolt.
Cheetor is a tough one unless they want to make the cheetah not very cheetah like. Rattrap, wasp, and rhinox were easy. Almost all of them are. Cheetor just suffers from animal accuracy because they are so slinder.
There are already the prototype pictures that a couple of us have seen but it's not that much leaked on the net. I've seen them because a person who has close ties to 3p companies also knew people from Hasbro and he was given the prototype slide and I'm not such a try hard to actually ask the guy for the pictures when he showed them to me. That's why we already know Betatron gets his limbs and a bunch more other stuff coming out.
I work in electronics at Walmart and i got the dept manager to order more but that was like last week and there is still only one silverbolt here. When i scanned the silver bolt it said there were -3 of them. I saw the combaticons once and that was it. And it was only 3 of them. Onslaught was not here, neither was swidle. I gave up looking for stuff at stores.
>That's like making a primarily pink and white Megatron with black highlights. Sure those colors work together, but they'd look like shit on a character like Megatron.
Uh... that would be fucking amazing!
We're not talking about any serious official depictions of characters in fiction tho, we're talking about toys. I like weirdly colored variants of different forms of the core Optimus/Megatron/Starscream/Bumblebee guys because it's easier to repurpose them as whoever-the-fuck than if they were in their iconic colors.
Have you decided your SkyReing team?
Prowl, Mirage, Wheeljack, and Hound. I was going to give those to my Battle Core prime till I saw how glorious SRs torso is. I'll just get some white prime Magnus add ons for battle core.
No idea. Ideally a team of fliers would work best with him, or thematically 2 fliers and 2 ground vehicles, but all my fliers are occupied in their native combiner configurations (Defensor, Superion), and all I have left is the G1 cast for Optimus Maximus who I'm not using because I prefer my Optimus as Optimus.
How hard would it have been to install a working radio in this guy?
Why is the ambiguously gay duos car her altmode?
I live in a tri-state with 6 Walmarts and 3 of them are telling me that they are pulling TFs after they sell out of stock soon.
The reasoning is apparently they are still burn with how poorly the 4th movie toys sold and how sluggish RID was moving so in the name of expanding more space for their hot movers (Star Wars and Marvel was mention by name) they are removing their TF sections.
My question is do we have any way of looking at TF sale numbers from brick and mortar store?
I get that RiD and the 4th movie were weak in sales Merc wise but was it really that weak?
>wanting to get rid of shit Bayformers and meh RiD stuff to make way for the stuff selling literal gangbusters because STURR WURZ is an endless fountain of money for everyone spanning generations
Well, I mean, it's not like you can even be mad at this. It's just sensible.
>Beast Wars Bumblebee
Remold/repaint from Waspinator
Reshell from Dotm bee using Barricade altmode, a Barricade with a different head wouldn't work beause of the "monster proportions" most of the Cons had.
Alternators Ravage deserves a spot on that list.
i'm gonna buy two.
one to keep stock, the other to make into the two components like G1; reorient the lynx head, add bird legs to sky lynx's shuttle mode. use some rare earth magnets so it still combines without adding more holes.
None at all
Hasbro has both names listed
It's the crazy ass stuff that they hit issues like this combiner they are making where they have to get hasbro to get the trademarks to then in turn allow them to use the names.
Yeah, like generations.
Though that would be a interesting premise for show, something like axiom nexus.
I had another Idea where you take a character, and then fuse elements from their most notable incarnations, could call it Transformers: Fusion.
Animated Rodimus Minor
Animated Cybertronian Optimus Prime
Animated Cybertronian Ironhide/Ratchet
Just buy a new Motormaster. The version with corrected hips is out now. Maybe you can use the hilt from one on the combined sword to make the sword longer.
Or at the very least you can have Motormaster / Menasor dual weild both swords
He can sit, not perfectly, but he can. srry for the dust.
HAHAHA. do you not understand anything? Leaders usually retail at $45. It's costs amazingly less than that to make one. The price would rise much higher than your delusional mind assumes.
Bulkhead had Animated then Prime figures.
I am not sure how this is different with Lockdown and Lugnut who got Animated and Movie toys.
Or maybe even Blackout who did the reverse.
All of these were "new" characters in their respective lines.
Ill probably use that assortment too. Ironhide, Sunstreaker, Smokescreen and Trailbreaker dont grab me
Ill probably swap them between Sky Lynx and Optimus.
White Optimus is my Nova Prime, and is equipped with four Rooks. Haven't decided I want to use two more as feet or not
>a few cents
You can go buy a radio at retail right now for $10 you bloody dildo. Remove the package (already paid), remove the plastic shell (already paid), remove the AM functionality (what kid listens to Rush or Hannity?). The remaining parts cost almost nothing individually, let alone in bulk. It's not an MP3 player so don't even open your fat gob about ML Soundwave.
those series had bulkhead as a main character, Lugnut and Lockdown had figures made for lines that homaged the animated series, quite different.
Animated Blackout homages the movie version.
Yeah nothing about the rest make me want them. Not a huge fan of the pick up mold, sunstreaker is garrishly ugly, same goes for trailbreaker on the first point, and I already have Prowl and Streetwise.
He can do it, just need a bit of creativity.
i can't believe Hasbro missed the opportunity to repaint Rook in G1 Roller colors and make him a limb of Optimus Maximus.
Nontheless, most other generations figures don't require creativity for the leg to go past 45 degrees.
It's a shame, if his legs had more clearance, He'd be fantastic, I take solace in the fact that we can still get a Generations Scourge who turns into a space coffin with clearance for basic upper leg movement, and hopefully not as a headmaster.
When's the next convention? I want to see more of Titans Return.
Invest in the PE hands and feet, KO or not they are essential. I got a pair for Bruticus and now he's so much more dynamic. The articulated fingers and giant feet with ankle tilts give him a lot of posability, I appreciate the handfootgun idea, but the lack of ankle tilts kill the posing power of the combined form.
Fine, here you go. This is getting really cramped now, I hope this is all they do.
Alright, this should be good, if anything's wrong, let me know.
Well good thing I just ordered a set yesterday then. I only ordered one black set because they're a little pricey.
I originally ordered one of the bootlegs but the guy told me he was sold out of the colors i wanted.
I got a set for all of my combiners. Still waiting on both Onslaught so I can make Bruticus, and for the Bruticus colored set to be released.
They're really nice.
I put it in a lazy cat stretch 90% of the time but I'm not home right now so can't show any pictures of it.
Forty bucks is how much I got him for... used. Granted he came in great condition, but still.
Forty is fair for his size, so If you could get him new for that price I'd definitely go for it.
His alt mode is also beautiful. He's actually the only alternator I own so I guess I was easily impressed.
He basically wears his alt mode as a shell on his back, but it doesn't look bad at all since he's a cat.
>He basically wears his alt mode as a shell on his back, but it doesn't look bad at all since he's a cat.
That's what I thought, all Alternators got kibble, but Ravage pulls it off well. it's funny that Ravage has the most Alternator toys out of anyone!
By the way, The fact there's a Ravage toy that transforms into a Jaguar car is badass
His head/neck actually has more articulation than his freaking tail.
I should mention that when I got him, one of his rubber tires was already a bit deformed. Not sure if that's just regular degrading over time or if it's the previous owner's fault. It's a very minor problem since you can't even tell from the pictures, and he still rolls smooth as silk.
Yeah rubber times suck for that. On smaller toys it's bad, they split cause they're really thin. My sealed Hybrid Style Optimus had most of his tires split, IN PACKAGE.
On bigger toys like Alternators its less of an issue hopefully
> Ravage has the most
Especially with Binaltech, Smokescreen may have more technically. I think they remolded and redecored him for a few different models of WRX and different drivers with similar but different deco's.
I own multiple, including some binaltechs Picked up from mandarake, and I have yet to see damage on any of mine. Granted, that's just one collector's exerpience, and the location, display and storage options will vary just how fast the rubber will degrade, but it seems to be sturdy and resilient on most of them.
I've got the Defensor ones too. Honestly, in my case, it's Menasor that needs them the most by a long shot. Defensor's improved by them a bit, but he's pretty good by default.
Superion barely needs them, they're mostly for pure aesthestics on him.
Every deluxe on that list has some nit-picks, and Scourge's flaws (well his ONLY significant flaw, unless you count the somewhat loose backpack pegging) are much more minor. For instance, a lot of those other deluxes have kibble issues, no waist swivel, no ankle tilts, less elegant weapon stowage. AOE Scorn's messed up arms, Arcee's backpack, etc.
>AOE Scorn's messed up arms
Someone would like a word with you.
He's not bad. My personal issues with him are his simple transformation, no waist swivel, fat bike mode, and his stupid open hands. Biggest complaint is the open hands. They prevent him from holding his weapon in a not stupid way because the fingers hit the hand guard. His weapon is awesome though. I gave it to CW Off road and gave OR's axe to Fracture and it works out well.
I think you guys are arguing past each other. Your argument is that if people buy up the Leader Blaster to mod it into a radio it will make him harder to find and drive up the price in the after market.
Shitbrick is arguing that if hasbro just did it to begin with it wouldn't cost much more and is thus implying you have not the means to take care of yourself and purchase a slightly more expensive transformer.
Neither of you are wrong in your perspective arguments but you're not arguing the same thing.
Kiss and make up
>People are spending 60-70 dollars on perfect combiner add on kits for Hasbro's devastator.
>People are spending an additional 30-40 dollars on perfect combiner arm upgrades for the individual bots that make up devastator.
>People are paying 100 american fucking dollars to fix a toy that people have already paid 150-200 dollars for.
>You could have bought 6+ quality Hasbro voyagers
>You could have purchased two or three very good third party transformers, or one uber expensive masterpiece transformer
>People who bought the Takara versions and the upgrades have covered the expense for Green Giant, a 3rd party devastator who runs circles around the official one.
I will never be the guy who gets mad at people for having 'wrong' opinions. People can spend their money on whatever they please. But I have to ask the people who paid for devastator; would that 150 bucks be better spent on something immensely more quality?
I'm not trying to be an antagonistic faggot. I really want an answer to this. Pic related. It's the same price as the base CW devastator.
using official transformation, one arm has a giant hole in it with a hand set in an odd position. the other arm is a big unposeable handless spike (it's supposed to be a whip in the movie).
don't get me wrong, i love the figure, but those arms could have been designed better.
I spent only $150 combined for devastator and the elbows. The other PE kit is just extra. So I saved $50 as compared to buying the UW one.
People do know how to shop smart. I'm sorry you're mad how others spend their money on toys.
>Pic related. It's the same price as the base CW devastator
Yeah one figures costs as much as 6 large figures that combine into a nicely articulated larger figure. Great argument. Really trying too hard and it's showing you're just wanting to get people stirred. I mean I applaud you for all the typing you did, but it fell apart with the example. 7/10. I'm sure someone will fall for it.
Theres honestly no reason to buy the Hasbro one now if you want the PE stuff too. You might as well just buy the Takara version.
Other than that, it's all good. But you probably shouldn't use a recolor of a toy that had a lot of problems to compare to a toy with a few issues.
Yeah those who didn't get to snag CW devastator at the nice sale prices before Xmas kind of got screwed. I was lucky and was able to get the set and the upgrades for under retail for him.
Six very poor, low quality, upscaled legends figures that turn into a mediocre robot that sacrifices everything good about a toy for the sake of being big. Nothing about my post was inflammatory and your accusation of such tells me I struck a nerve. Is it buyers remorse?
Hardly angry, just very, very perplexed.
I do love the mold of Leonidas. Xerxes depicted there allegedly fixes the issues that Leo did so I'm anticipating the reviews to see if that holds true.
My point stands though. Here's another 150 dollar quality figure you could have purchased instead.
No elitism friend. I'm being critical of a very overpriced collection of poor quality toys. People spent a lot of money of something that does nothing more than be big and I'm curious why.
>pay $270NZ for it
>ToyWorld (a notoriously expensive toy store) has a pre-Christmas sale of him for $150
At least there will have been several Christmas trees with Devastator under them at that price, potentially helping us get more larger Transformers sets in the future.
I mean every word, friend. I'm just trying to have a civil discussion. You're free to like whatever you please and purchase all the same. That's what's so great about capitalism!
>TFW this thread is GOING TO SHIT over people replying to an obvious troll
>He has buyers remorse
>He can''t handle his 150 dollar legends collection being criticized
>He must resort to a strawman in a hopeless attempt to ignore a remarkably simple question
I'm sorry I triggered you, friend. But it's a genuine point of interest as to why you spent 150 dollars on something of such low standards. I didn't realize that qualified as trolling.
That doesn't help at all. If people like not having elbows on robots then that's fine! I'm just curious as to why you bought that over something of better quality rather than a larger quantity of poor figures.
Truly I am the greatest of all master trolls. I do things like ask questions, and even offer options!
Think of all the actually good Hasbro figures you could have bought. Six whole quality voyagers! Two masterpiece carformers!
I mean look at this beautiful thing. Only 70 bucks! Half of what your upscaled legends set cost. A little foresight and you could of stretched your dollar a lot further friend.
Is this like ironic trolling? Am I only pretending to be trolling? If trolling is pretending to be retarded then is fake trolling merely pretending to pretend to be retarded?
Here's a real beautiful figure. Function X Sigma. You could have walked away with him AND Sideswipe in my previous post for the same price as devastator.
Fake trolling. What you're doing. Happens a lot here. You're trying to argue for something you don't care about just for shits and giggles. That's fine, but just don't be so obvious about it. A little subtlety goes a long way.
>tfw this thread is autosaging soon
It was such a simple question. I really don't see why it's trolling. People are just... eating shit for no reason! Devastator was just this years toy to get and it's baffling to me. For very young children I get because they can't appreciate things like ankle tilts, elbows, etc. But for adult collectors? 150 dollars for a collection of such shitty figures is strange to me.
All the time I hear criticism of third party toys about cost. It's a completely fair criticism! Masterpiece and third party plastic is an expensive hobby. But then these same people pay 150 dollars for absolute garbage and pretend like that big, hollow turd has value because there's six figures there.
I'm sorry that you think I'm trolling. You must admit that it's a completely fair line of criticism I've levied against CW brick shithouse, no?
>Hear things you don't like
>T-trolling! Go away! This is a safe place!
The toy isle at your Walmart must resemble a three dimensional tumblr page.
You could have bought so much more! Your dollar goes a long way if your willing to not be lured by Hasbro's willingness to cut corners.
Man what do you want? You want someone to be really angry at it? Its funny because you started as just a simple poke against the sleeping bear and now you're diving do deep in to your own bullshit that you're just looking more and more pathetic causing us to laugh instead of you.
I thought that was just being polite. No one is evening daring to contest a single thing I posit. They truly know that devastator is the largest pile of nothing in their collection.
People in this thread seem triggered super easily, for whatever reason. Just like when that one guy shared one IDW panel he though was cool the other day.
I've never purchased a third party figure ever, and I didn't buy Devastator for all the exact criticisms you're leveling at it. If I'm going to drop that much money on a figure, I don't want to end up doubling my expenses just to "fix" the damn thing and make it feel worth it to me- instead I'll just be happy with all the other Combiner Wars figures that I have found value in this year. I honestly would have preferred if Devastator was cheaper and closer in-scale with the other combiners, personally.
I'm really not trying to incite butthurt. I've displayed no brand loyalty to any company nor have I rallied against Hasbro on order from my loyalty to third party companies.
Devastator would have been immensely better if they scaled him down to deluxe size and kept the same price point. He really could have rivaled Hercules in terms of quality.
>Devastator would have been immensely better if they scaled him down to deluxe size and kept the same price point.
At least now you've embraced that you were called out on your trolling and just rolling with it. What's sad is that some 3P loyalists people really think like this.
It really demonstrates the immense denial you have that you can't address anything I say. You scream trolling like a tumblrina screams rape.
When I say so much money on so little I don't mean in linear size. CW devastator is huge. He's bigger than any third party Not Devastator currently released. The toys are all voyager sized. I don't deny that he's a lot in term of size, but it's literally everything else that suffers because of it.
The bots are ramshackle and kibble-y, hollow, thin, and lack basic articulation. They're basically unpainted. Devastator's arms are feeble and thin, his thighs are a mile long, his shitty ankle tilts are halfway up the calf, and he can't pose for shit.
Imagine how good he could have been if his bots were deluxe sized. Just freaking imagine.
