I think I understand how Pretenders will work later. A bunch of the smaller RID guys have armor they pierce on. So I'm thinking that the Pretenders will be smaller than ones of their size class normally that have pieces of armor that peg on around the limbs , torso, head, and possibly feet. Would have gaps in them so the points of articulation would still be usable like action figures. Since Pretenders were designed the first time around to have similar modes, seems they would be cross-compatible armor. Also I'd assume that the humanoid ones would have masks like Stormtroopers or Sentai or something so there isn't complaints about PC stuff. Would the Legends guys include Monstructor, Deluxe be most of them, and Voyager and Leader guys would have some combination of Thunderwing, Crossblades, Vroom, Roadgrabber, Gunrunner, Roadblock, Skyhammer, Black Shadow, Blue Bacchus, Metalhawk, and Optimus Prime. No idea for which guys would be recolor/retools though.

Thanks a ton. The mixer seems to be another limit on it but I guess it can just be untabbed too. The first time I put him together I missed a bunch of the tabs. Say what you will about Hasbro instructions but the Japanese ones are even tinier and harder to see what exactly is going on half the time.

Finally got a better look at the Takara Devy.

I'm conflicted on this. G1 guns and extra elbows aside, it's like Takara tried to improve what Hasbro did in terms of paint, while also just plain omitting some of Hasbro's paint apps in the process. Some of the individual bots look a lot better, some (Bonecrusher, what in the fuck, Takara) look decidedly worse. The gunmetal Devy face and Scrapper face also look pretty bad compared to the nice, shiny silver on the other versions.

There really is no perfect version, unlike with say, UW Superion being clearly better than the CW version, is there?

Just started my collection this year, so, I'd have to say Rook.

No, really. He's easily the best of the CW newcomers. He has a unique mold, a fitting alt mode for his group (unlike Offroad being a truck in a group of race cars, or Alpha Bravo being a copter in a mix of jets), he's nice and chunky, has a unique gimmick with his Hulk hands trick, and works well in his role as a leg or arm.

I didn't find it a stretch at all for there to be an offroad truck racer in the mix. His colors match up nicely as well.

General flaws for Menasor were the hips, the bull horns, and the awkward proportions.

He's the C+ in a playground of solid B+ to A+'s. He's a good figure overall, but he has some notable flaws.

He's top heavy, for one, and no kits or anything will fix that. He has a bit of a weird torso, kits can certainly fill it out nicely though if you opt for those. His first release had pure shit hip joints, so you pretty much have to get the fixed version (the UW version is the fixed version as well), and even then, his hip joints aren't super amazing or anything.

Is he worth a buy? Yes. Is he perfect? No. I've got mine, with the PE kits (feet/addons) and he's a lot better with them than without, turning that C+ to a solid B in my opinion.
