Try out a different style or talk about one and list the pros and cons.
Also worth mentioning along with it is whether certain options are enabled while using a certain type of formatting, i.e. someone could disable backlinks, have CSS rules / regex filters for hiding or highlighting posts that follow certain formatting.

The style I consider most prominent on the larger boards is:
1. Always use reply links when making a post. There are few exceptions, most popular one being a reply to the OP.
2. If your discussing something you quote their post after the reply link utilizing the usenet style quotation mark, i.e. the greater than symbol in front of each line.
3. If all your responding to is one small flaw in a post's logic/argument you may paraphrase what was written with the usenet style
4. If posting a series of images or text that's greater than the character limit, the first post may have no reply link, while the rest have a link to the series of the post coming before it, usually a counter is used if the poster knows how many posts their imageset or text will take up.
5. Always use proper capitalization and punctuation; however paragraph spacing and line breaks are debated/stigmatized and vary more than the other portions of this style.

Pros:
-A lot of the features here are encouraged by the native extension, which is on by default.
--i.e. the most convenient way to open the quick reply box is to link to a person's post and if you have any text selected on the page it will automatically append it after the reply link with the usenet style quotation already done for you.
-Makes it possible for people reading to follow a conversation via the reply quotes and backlinks.

Cons:
-People who derive dopamine from seeing a bunch of backlinks, the red exclamation mark from the autoupdater, italicized text on the threadwatcher or the "(you)" feature will attempt to make posts only to get replies instead of making posts that are worth reading i.e. making contentless posts such as those "roll" images.
-People will put words into another poster's mouth when they don't paraphrase correctly.
-People who don't follow a style which uses the reply link are perceived to "not give (you)s" by adherents to this style, which may cause unwarrented bullying.

I know what was intended here, but paraphrases presented as quotes are considered rude on actual Usenet because it's possible for a news server to retain your post but not the post you were replying to.
