You're gonna love it. Pic related is my only ride, I'm a nocar. It's cheap as shit to run and insure and I get 70mpg running stock. Looks like he put a heat shield on the stock exhaust and moved rear indicators back, probably for saddlebags. You can check under the seat if he cut a hole in the air box or rejet but with stock exhaust, maybe not.
Make sure you keep up on oil changes and check your oil level when you refuel. If you ride the highway for extended periods it'll likely burn oil. It'll handle 65 no problem. 70-80mph in short bursts.
Also to properly check oil, the bike has to be warmed up. If you do it cold you get a false low reading. You can get a gallon of Rotella diesel motor oil for $13 at Walmart, it has the right rating/specs for wet clutches and it's good in air cooled engines.

arrow won't hurt the resale, it's probably the best bet for that. There's even an oem map that you can get flashed specifically for it at the dealer (ecu's are locked from tuneecu on thet 13+ model years, so otherwise you're using a power commander).

Shaft for comfy low maintenance
Chain for power
>>
>>17754317

>>17754297
Chain, shaft has its pluses, but it's really not worth the weight and power loss, belt is a meme.

Imagine combining the 2 while taking all their downsides
+long-ish life
-will require serious disassembly to change
-if a pulley starts acting up it'll chew belts and be expensive
-power is not only most, but delayed since it's all rubbery
+but hey, at least it's quiet
>>
>>17754298

hell yeah dawg, thanks for the info. Any other tips I should know? issues he mentioned on that bike particularly is he's selling it without a battery, and the tachometer is whacky and the needle just goes all over the place. Also says the horn is dead but probably because no battery?

How do you get 30% power loss if a bike has 85hp at crank and 80hp at the wheel, with a shaft? -30% would mean 60hp at the wheel.
>>
>>17754398
Couplings, mostly
It's why you should use a longitudinal engine, using only one right angle coupling vastly reduces power loss

Super Tenere. I've never heard the 30% power loss figure either, in my experience it's usually about 20%, but that is with a longitudinal engine so he may be right.

>>17754530
No oil on wheel and tire, at least none I ever noticed.
I chose this over the scottoiler because you don't need to hook anything up, it works with some weird hydraulic/magnetic mechanism.

How is chain wax? Never heard of that

>>17754531
Half the people here are nobikes so you fit right in.
>>
>>17754353
Sounds like some basic electrical problems stemming from that missing battery. The bike will run without it but to get the other electrics working you'll either want to get a battery or use a capacitor in its place. I forget the specs on the capacitor but these bikes are old enough that every possible problem has been discussed online.
If the tach is still wild after you replace the battery, maybe some wires have broken somewhere. That's typical since a lot of them are exposed and get bent over time.

>>
>>17753434
Late reply but it's been super reliable desu. Main issue with my model is that kickstand is mounted to the oil pan, so it tends to jiggle loose after about 10 years.

well nuts are a stupid idea but can be replaced with epoxy and a part listed on the forums for like $10

Electronics are great as long as you don't crash. Mine have a random short from hitting the headers during my last crash. Other than that it's been bulletproof. Always starts up and rides.

Actually you may bend the header depending on how stuck it is. Hold onto the header right near where it meets the muffler and then wiggle the muffler back and forth till it loosens up. You could try prying those tabs up too, not sure if that would help at all. You a new drz anon?

Aftermarket cans can definitely worsen the fuelling.
This is a well-known fact.
>>
>>17755333
If you don't get the bike tuned then yes aftermarket cans aren't helping anything other than noise production but you are a fucking moron if you think stock cans offer the best performance.

stock cans have to work within noise and pollution regulations, aftermarket cans do not meaning the aftermarket can is going to offer more performance if the engine is tuned to use it.

Unless the can is complete poo poo the bike can adapt through usage of the O2 and lambda sensors on a modern ECU - there just isn't that much of a change. If you remove the cat in the headers that's another story

All you need to wear for the MSF course is a helmet, gloves and a long sleeve shirt. You're going to look like a dweeb in full gear going 10mph around a parking lot.

Anyone here ever have a bike stolen? How did you handle the situation? And did you ever get it back?

My FZ6 got jacked last night. Literally the day after I fix the water pump and get it a new battery. I woke up this morning and it was just gone. I don't live in a shady place or anything like that, so it was a huge shock to me. It was my first bike too

get a storage unit or look for a local community garage theres a couple here in philly that will charge you like 400 bucks for winter storage but its in a heated garage and fully insured.

if you live on the first floor of anything and its possible to roll it just drain all the fluids and park it inside on a tarp

or you could look through your local craigslist and see if anyone is renting out space in a heated garage (this is more common than you would think) what city is this?

My gf wants to sell her ninja 300 but it has fucking 28000 km (About 20k miles)

whichever one you think looks the best. For daily riding you want to err on the side of torque, so CBR or Ninja 636 is going to be better than an r6 (but won't look as cool imo). Have you ever ridden one?

that's super high mileage for a 2013 300, do you think people would buy that when they have 3-5k km alternatives?

How not to do it: Bike is cool, you are uncool
How to do it: You are cool, bike is understated

First, get fancy leather gear and an expensive looking helmet so you can look cool. And be cool. Perf leather is based.
Second, learn to actually talk to people so you can act cool.
Then, git gud so you can look cool when in motion.

>>17755952
No fuel filter stock, so every ninja 500 owner ever has experienced plugged jets or gummed up floats and slides at one point or another. There's a kawasaki part that drops into the rail. Install ASAP and this is a non-issue, but you'll probably want to clean the carbs first before a wad of 8 year old gas gum makes its way into the main jet or blocks the float needle.
Really shitty fucking headlight, especially compared to sportbikes that light up both "eyes". Bake it and put in a projector kit, don't ride at night, or tack aftermarket driving lights to the forks.
Swingarm adjustment marks are actually known to be off quite a bit, if you can even see them in the first place.
Kawasaki build quality. It is a budget model and they used the same design from 1997 onwards. Had one, developed several small oil leaks. And please do grease the suspension regularly if it's not already creaking. Every moving part on the chassis is undergreased even by kawasaki standards.
The front fairing is a royal bitch to get on and off without scratching fucking everything, and if you're thinking of remedying that, the bike looks like absolute shit naked due to the design of the tank (which shifts around and can be lifted up a bit sans fairing, because the fairing is part of what holds it onto the frame)

Tldr don't fucking buy it unless it's <$1500 or some cheap price

how often do people at gas stations/red lights talk to you about your bike? I swear to god every single time I ride my Z125 I have about 5 strangers a day wanting to talk to me about it and the engine size. I knew it was going to attract a little bit of attention but its honestly becoming mildly annoying how often people want to talk to me about my bike.
I'm always nice but its always the same conversation
>what size is the engine?
>miles per gallon?
>TOP SPEED?
>I COULDNT GET USED TO RIDING THAT BECAUSE MUH HARLEY

the only conversations I enjoy is the soccer moms who think its cute and my kid neighbors who think its fast AF because it goes about 50 lmao

From the jump, any Honda is a better idea.
The sufour is truly a great bike, but if you can't afford it take a look at the CB500F instead. You'll save a lot of frustration with something more reliable. And maybe a little money, with better gas mileage.

its fun and gets good gas mileage. The seat is a lot more comfy than the grom and if you're a wheelie douche the Z125 comes up a lot quicker than the grom does. Question, where do you put your cac so you access it quickly when you get to the gate.
I normally have it in the little space under the knuckles but I'm always worried it'll fall out, hasn't yet.
>>
>>17756488
>not putting your CAC in a breast pocket
>>
>>17756488

I put it in the right front pocket of my jacket. I don't bother shifting into neutral, I just pull up, keep the clutch in with my left hand, and use my right to unzip the pocket and get my CAC out.

If I'm not wearing a jacket, then I tuck it into my left glove at the wrist.
>>
>>17756490
If I'm not wearing my riding jacket, which I normally do, it's ok.
It's always a bitch for me to put back in with the gloves, still much quicker in my glove pocket.
If I'm wearing the jacket, that's not an option
>>
>>17756493

Im guessing for faggots who live in gated communities.

I just keep keys to get into my parkade in my front pocket, and just take off my glove to grab them. Then just sit on your glove and hang the keys on the bars (big loop) until I park.

I normally "prep" my CAC pocket at a light before getting to the gate by slightly unzipping it. Getting the zipper with gloves isn't easy, but partially unzipping lets you just feel for the hole and immediately find the zipper.

AKA military bases.

Navy requires all gear to be worn at all times, especially on base, so riding without a glove on is asking for a base patrol car to pop out right at the gate after the guards told him you're a faggot over the radio.
>>
>>17756543
Street Glides are primarily ridden by younger riders. The old guys ride Ultra Classics.
>>

No. Cheapo textile. Where the breast pocket would be is a zipper air vent.

So much this. Although with the army, if your in uniform, only extras is the helmet and gloves.
I'm on an af base and the gate guards are assholes about gear, once you get inside they don't mind so much. Just rode in a tracksuit the other day with no issues.

Tendies aren't actually an indicator of rider skill

Your bikes COG and tire profile play a huge role in them, as does your riding style. Two riders going around the corner at the same speed can be using different amounts of tire.

>>17756658
That's only the midwest senpai

>Getting hektik at grid intersections because there's 100 of them in a square mile
>very hilly city so lots of little twisties

Everyone I know rides a liter except for me
