Shit at actually being lights but really good looking

Also RIP square tail sections. The underseat storage was great and the fenders were not worth chopping off.

They didn't do it for progress, they did it to capitalize on sales to tryhards.

If you take a GP bike and give it a street legal four-into-one exhaust mounted to the side of the fairing (because a pipe per cyllinder would actually be heavier and more complex with emissions crap) and add 0.00002lbs worth of plastic to make for a box under the pillion seating area, guess what you have? A 90s bike.

A 90s bike that people are free to chop up for an aftermarket four pipe system too.

>Quit buying shit boots.

My Gaerne SG10s are probably the most comfortable boots I've ever worn.

Broke in fine in just a couple of hours because they have an actual hinge built in for ankle movement.

I wear them on both my bikes, I'll admit one is a dirt bike with meme wheels and the other is a huge adv bike.

Might be an issue getting the thick toes under the shifter with the room they allow for normal street bikes.
>>
>>17512570
Fanbases like motorbikes, firearms, and anime share a common amount of emotional investment. Think of it as chocolate and peanut butter.

And it's something to do when it's too shitty outside to ride.
>>
>>17512617
and they're all budget bikes with floppy frames that nobody with a brain would want to race

japan realized that overspecialization made more money. bikes are relatively cheap compared to cars, and people have no problem buying cars that cost five times as much as bikes, so why not design your bikes in a way that encourages buying more than one?

there's always aftermarket but the prices are steep, especially compared to OEM solutions that wouldn't even chance the cost of the bike.

completely or very nearly inessential in the first world. only liked because they are fun, a way to escape from life's responsibilities for a bit, and useful in very unlikely or entirely simulated situations. fans risk social isolation. there is no peer pressure to become interested in these, and an interest can indicate a lack of peer pressure to become invested in other things, ie: a lot of time to yourself. or no peers. wide variety of genres, makes, and models attracts autists who enjoy categorizing and comparisons. low entry prices make this hobby accessible to young men working part time and living with their parents and single guys who live on their own. danger and image issues make married men less likely to indulge.

Has anybody on here taken a majorly long road trip on a motorcycle? My friends have planned for a road trip spanning most of the states (we live in canada) and I was hoping to find out how realistic this is and if anybody has had any experiences like this. Would this be possible on a cruiser and if so, what would you recommend? Im hoping somebody can kind of give me some tips or what to expect in order to kind of temper my friend's expectations because I feel like they are only seeing this as a best case scenario situation without taking into account the wear on the bike, the amount of actual time a huge trip like this would take, etc.

I'm going to provide you with a very important piece of information you may have overlooked:

You're on 4chan
>>
>>17512949
The hondas that do break down do so exactly once, because they are overengineered and honda has a way of losing track of exactly one detail in the whole mess.

VF500 cams, VFR/VTR RRs, early CBR CCTs, and a few bikes with a certain neutral sensors (most CBRs) tend to wear it down after about 30-40k miles so it needs replaced but they still run fine

And then basically everything after that is rock solid

Twins and singles fucking suck. The low frequency vibes make you go numb wherever they come through. Honda's current line of commuter bikes is all twins and singles.

Yamaha, however, has FOUR and THREE cyllinder commuters.

That's a measure of honored warranty claims, has nothing to do with longevity. Yamaha a computer controlled shit. Hondas roll over the odometer if you take care of it.
One of these companies uses flawed timing to create an aesthetically pleasing engine note. The other will accept negligent warranty claims in order to keep a customer.

how long in general should a street bike clutch last if it was treated marginally well? picked up an 80s honda with 36.5k and the clutch as slowly been slipping more and more as i drive it, its to the point where in 3rd through 5th it just slips up like a go kart clutch if i give it 3/4 throttle. when i first got it i purposefully tested for slip in 4th and 5th and got none. i got it for essentially nothing so if i have to spend a hundo on the clutch i wouldnt be upset.

honda clutch: about three fiddy thousand miles.

kawasaki clutch: who cares, it's a kawasaki.
aprilia clutch: contains a small motor that consumes extra fuel, but adds horsepower.

Any idea what's wrong with my drz? The bike loves to stall out from a stop. I always have to rev it up close to 6k rpm to get it going from a stop and it's never a slow roll, it's always an abrupt acceleration.

It some times stalls out when I rev it in neutral. Like the bike is parked and I am just give it some throttle and it just stalls.

I cant seem to replicate the problem to figure out what's wrong.

If you want a moped then get an older one from when they still used 2 stroke engines. They can supposedly hit 50mph+ with some engine tuning (since the engines had to be detuned to hit the 30mph or sometimes lower max speed most places allow by law) and 60mph+ if you get a kit to increase displacement.

Depends on how many kms you're putting into it and how well it's being maintained. Maybe 30%?

I live in Canada and most parts I can get within 1.5 weeks out of Texas if the dealer doesn't have them, if it needs to ship from Italy it's about 3 weeks.

>mfw I got clocked going 39 over the limit today and my insurance is going to fucking skyrocket
>>
>>17514220
See thats a nice bike.

everybody talks shit about harley cruisers, which is understandable but what about harleys sportsers and what not? Dynas arent to shabby, i think the sportser 72' would be sick for lane splitting.
>>
>>17514236
Welp, bout the same as a car.
I'm actually trying to understand why.
It's also ugly, but I guess thats just opinion.
>>
>>17514257
You can lane split anything.

Road King is better than the softail. Surprisingly, my dad's softail handles pretty decently, but it's neutered by ground clearance. Turn in is excellent, but it scrapes before you get any actual fun turning in.

That being said it sounds excellent and is extremely comfy just farting around. I might get a dyna down the road
>>
>>17514220
>Not OD green
>>
>>17514246
I get that.
But having what seems like a cockpit on the front of your bike just feels stupid.
Also, I think speakers on a bike are retarded.

I guess you'll never understand what it's like, nobike.

I'll still sleep well tonight regardless of your opionions though.

>>
>>17514272
I know, Im saying its skinny body just looks fun, reminds me of old choppers kinda

Dynas are in the top tiers of harley bikes, that being said whats all your opinions on the harleys project live wire bike, first all electric sports bike.

You still get wind in your face and sun on your head, and you still have to use your arms and body to turn.

Until you've ridden then, you won't get it. Even then, if you don't get it, then just don't buy one.
>>
>>17514291
>tfw bike can't measure ohms
>>
>>17514293
Electric motorcycles do nothing for me.

And sportsters are fun, and I think the 72 is gorgeous, but I don't want to own anything with a 2 gallon tank that has over 100cc
>>
>>17514295
I don't really get cruisers, partly cause they're uncomfortable for me.
But, the cockpit thing on that one, that's what I really don't get.

I didn't say you couldn't do it right, but how does that even sound good.
Might as well wear ear buds, or put speakers in your helmet, it'd probably be cheaper.
>>
>>17514349

>>
>>17514376
>it'd probably be cheaper.

Ahhhh.. now I get you. Maybe you should make more money.
>>
>>17514395
So the thing with the speakers, the sound quality is probably shit when you ride.
The cheaper part just makes it make more sense.

Basically your post was, I should spend more money on something worse.
But that would explain why there's a lot black people in those vids.

>>

So it sounds good cause it's loud, make sense on a cruiser.

Also, high mid range cut out when low range thumps. Shit setup really.

>>
on the topic of making more money

spent the evening comparing texas insurance quotes and it looks like my best rates would be through Nationwide

my inner goy is second guessing me though, and wondering why Nationwide wants $260 per annum when the next three want $340 (USAA/Progressive), $400 (Geico) and $580 (Esurance/Allstate). All quotes are for basic liability and underinsured bodily injury.

What kinds of caches does insurance have? do some companies have a reputation for being more tightfisted than others? are there hidden gotchas I'm missing?

I use ear buds.
Sounds better than the couple bike I've seen close up with speakers.

Helmet speakers dont sound the greatest.

I have a sena 10s, its awesome because you can hear things around you better and you cant beat the convenience, but you can barely even hear it on the highway over wind noise.

I use ear plugs with speakers built in for long trips and the sena for commuting / cruising around the city.

I have black ones, so it doesnt show grunge as badly but even then - they are in an enclosed space in your helmet, carrying case outside of it, and my ears aren't fucking disgusting so they stay decently clean.

I hated the one I had. Its slow, soft, laggy and boring but it made a good notice and I can understand how someone who doesn't know any better could be happy with it but coming from ninjas, gsxr's and blades its a massive disappointment. Only good thing was the sound it made. Couldn't give it back to the hire company fast enough.

My ideal stable will be a cbr600rr and a scout scrambler. There's literally nothing else I could ever need.

I never used a headset.
When I leading the group I just checked how people were riding and how long we were doing it. When people noticeably were getting tired/sore I would just get to next rest area and ride in it. No need for handsignals.

I've don't Europe a couple of times can't say anything about what america is going to be like but I can give a couple of tips.
1 double check your insurance covers the trip.
2 check what the laws are for the places your going through.
3 Don't over plan, don't book the hotel stops more then a stop or two ahead. (Anything delays you and you will be out of pocket)
4 make sure you have good luggage (attached to the bike for everything you can, a backpack will get uncomfortable after a while) water proof. With space for shit you pick up on the trip, cargo nets are your friends here.
5 don't over pack, everyone on their first trip tends to take loads of shit you don't need. Multiple pairs of shoes, loads of jeans you never use. That sort of thing.
6 add too your tool kit and know how to do basic repairs even if its just bodge jobs to get you to the next town. Zip ties, gaffa tape, electrical tape, superglue, puncture repair kit with co2, make sure you have all the tools need for the fittings on your bike, pliers that short of thing.
7 take spares, common nuts, bolts and clips. Bulbs and fuse.
8 take chain lube assuming you have a chain drive.
9 take a battery pack, something high capacity with a solar panel if you can get a good one. You can get ones that will jump a car or bike. You do not want to bump a bike five days into a trip because the knob didn't wire his heated grips to the ignition switch.
I've prob missed of loads of useful stuff but my main advice is just do it, you learn all the time and will just have to take things as they come.
>>
>>17514935
Maybe you should have just looked in the service manual for your bike what kind of fuel it needed.
