YammieNoob uploaded a picture of his bike on Instagram a few days ago which showed the aftermarket axle sliders he bought. The bike in the crash (which was also a 675R) had the exact same sliders. It's a miracle he survived. I think what happened was by some bizarre strike of luck the energy dissipated in a way which ejected him directly off his bike and straight up, avoiding any head-on contact with the car itself

How much of a bother (and cost) would it be to replace the gauge cluster on an FZ6?
You can get a decent ~2004-6 FZ6 for a good 800-1k € less than you can an S2 but the fuckugly, barely usable tach is a major turnoff and all the aftermarket kits seem like ghetto ricer shit.

Just got my pig running again yesterday. Had to remove the carb and clean it out, it was a long time coming. Main jet was probably 70% clogged. Running great now.

On that note, anyone have any suggestions for a container for spare fuel that I can put in a backpack? I'd like something completely sealed that holds 1-2 liters of spare fuel. Where I live now, it's a pretty long run to get anywhere truly remote, and the factory tank is on the small side.

The porsche owner won't necessarily sue yammie. This accident is exactly what insurance is for, stupidity. As long as Yammie has liability insurance (the most basic type of insurance) the porsche owner is fine. Depending on Yammie's state minimum liability limit and what package he has, he should be fine. Unless his state minimum is something like 20/40/10 which would be 20,000 per person in accident, 40,000 total for accident, and 10,000 for property damage, in which case Yammie is completely fucked :^)

He doesn't know anything about bikes other than "those racers are dangerous" so that's probably his real intention. They are really more expensive though, especially registration and insurance. I'm not sure if they're worth the money but I don't think I'll know until I live with one for a while.

>A few zip ties.
>A small roll of electrical tape.

For a different bike, you might need different size wrenches or a socket or something. Jap enduros are simple as fuck fortunately.

There's a little cargo bag on the back seat of my bike that has a locking cable you can loop through the helmet lock. I also keep the registration, insurance, and a copy of the owners manual in a waterproof bag in there.

There's a space inside the battery compartment for spare fuses and I always make sure there are spares.

I rode my XR650L 5000 miles over 5 months, all over the Western US. Camping and taking back roads / no roads whenever I could. Nothing broke on the bike the whole time, but having the stuff handy was still useful. Allowed oil changes in parking lots when stopping through towns and things.

first step is to be scared

You just dont add signals, Its not as simple as adding on lights. You need the relays and switch and a way to mount it, let alone any dealing with any laws. Youd need to call the dmv to see if you can convert a bike which they may consider off road use only to road legal, and what the process is. For 1500 you should be able to find a decent starter bike thats road worthy

Unless you get a converted dirt bike most of them have at least 120-140 mile range on a tank.

>>16986239
I would say they are preobably the best beginner bikes you can get.
Manageable power, loads of power:grip ratio, easy low speed handling, awesomely fun at high speed, can take them literally almost anywhere, if you drop it nothing happens, easy to work on.

Better first bikes than faired faux sport bikes like the 250/300 shitters.

No. Buy tools and equipment which pay off hugely over a lifetime. There are better ways to save and make money unless you live where you can warehouse piles of stuff for nothing after getting it cheap as a dealer or shop owner.

Also use an inflation calculator. A rebuilt rather nice Shovelhead I sold for 4500 in the 1980s is worth about the same in CONSTANT dollars.

Bike doesn't have to be going 100mph for it to be a 100+mph collision.

If the car was going 50mph and the bike was going 50mph the resulting head on collision would have been a 100mph collision

yes. Pilot Power 3s
As long as I was easy on the throttle I could keep the skidz controllable. The biggest issue was the low ground clearance. I had to make my way over a small fallen tree which was difficult. I basically had to stand on the tree to push it all the way against the ground to keep the bike from teeter tottering on it as I crossed.
>>
>>16986443
That's a pretty janky mounting solution anon. There are loads of off the shelf mounting solutions for external brake reservoirs.

I would pick up an R6 MC and a reservoir/reservoir mount. Just make sure the fluid tube does not go higher than the bottom nipple on the reservoir.

Just buy a new chain and take those stupid extenders off. Should take like 20-30 minutes to set it right.

If it's more than you're willing to pay, make a counteroffer. If they decline all your offers and you don't want to pay that, walk away from it.

Often when they see you walking away, they'll accept your offer. But don't actually walk away unless you don't want it for that price, because they usually won't.

>>16986567
Be a grown up, don't be afraid of them. They're not going to beat you up for not wanting to pay full price. simple answer is because he thinks he's good, whether he says it out loud or not, he has an extremely high opinion of himself.

that's why with less than a years experience under his belt he considered himself experienced enough to preach about kneedown lean angles on the road and how it's just not possible to do and be safe and ra ra ra.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViuIMEhMtAU

now he's crashed like twice on the road being a fucking idiot (the first time he crashed was on like a 20 degree bend too) and guess who ain't ever crashed on the road going knee down? this guy.

If you think you're better than you are you're gonna try riding better than you can and that's where you crash.

>>
>>16987271
They don't provide ankle support so in a crash your ankle can easily get fucked.

Abrasion resistance is decent if they're leather.

Laces are not smart.

Altogether not much better than wearing shoes, might stay on your feet better in a bad crash but you'll still get fucked up.

They can think you're stupid as much as they want but it's a very common and real phenomena that every single human being on earth is susceptible to. It's simply how our brains work instinctively- big dangerous thing coming at us, so we focus on it so we know where it is. We never evolved on the seat of a motorcycle though, so that throws a monkey wrench into the gears a bit
