Is there any point in trying to force myself to keep squeezing the front brake harder when the back tire is already in the air aside from looking cool?
Actually I'm only assuming it even is because of the slamming sound when the bike settles. Plus now that I think about it there's probably a pretty good chance it's because I'm being a shitcunt and stiffening my arms.

if you want to do a frontflip then sure
>>16927646
I am probably like 85deg from that being a problem. I doubt my bike even has enough front brake to frontflip unless you go out of your way to fuck up everything.

Need some help with a noise coming from my bike. When my bike reaches about 1/2 tank it starts to make a ticking sound which gets louder as the emptier the tank gets and then dissappears when its full again. any idea what it might be? It can get pretty loud once it is 1/4 full and it is making me worried
>>16927847
im willing to bet money that the sound is 100% from the fuel pump.
>>16927847
Probably just the fuel pump. Needs to work harder as there's less in the tank because gravity isn't pushing it through the lines as much. Wouldn't worry about it. My FZ6 would make a whirring you could hear over the engine when it was lowish on fuel.

>That's not a cafe race, this is a cafe racer
No, that's a sport bike. Cafe racer has a specific meaning, being the classic performance modification of (now vintage) British motorcycles.
A Triumph Thruxton is a modern factory cafe styled motorcycle. Daytona in pic is their modern descendant but not cafe.
Cafe racers are the ancestors of all sport bikes. They are how you got a sporting machine before they were factory offerings.

I don't know what cbt is and I did pay for msf. I think I payed like 100 or 200 bucks or something I don't remember. And I don't really care they taught me the very basics of motorcycling (which I didn't know at the time) and they let me use one of their best up bikes to practice on and best part of all they took care of the licensing portion. I got a temp paper license that day and a week later got a plastic id in the mail. Didn't have to go sit in the shitty rmv for 7 hours that alone was worth the cost.
>>16928897

Nigga did you buy your shit in aldi? What shit tier brands did you get? No reasonable CE approved armour with sufficient abrasion/impact resistance can be had for that money. If you are riding a shit tier bike, enjoy your shit tier gear. For those of use who buy a first bike with a view of going into the big leagues (1000cc+) it makes sense to spend the money first time. Not to mention the lighter weight and better fit of the premium quality gear reducing fatigue and looking better.

You realise that Sharp isn't designed to be an outright test? It is supplementary to the ECE test - the one that MotoGP amongst others adhere to. In the US that would be DOT.
Given that a number of US helmets cannot be sold in Europe whereas helmets sold in the Europe can be sold in the USA it would imply the standards are better in Europe. I am using Simpson helmets as an example. Makes no difference to me as only shoei fit my head well.

Funny Story: a company called Armourgel is trying to sell a set of tiny rubber inserts (seriously, the don't even sit between two rigid liners, they just hang out under the EPS nestled in with the comfort liner) for helmets that supposedly allow them to slide with the head in impacts. I make up for my lack of size by rather hammering it in.
In all seriousness though she complains how her scooter is uncomfortable, and I keep telling her how bikes with bigger wheels and wider tyres are so much more comfortable, as well as infinitely more enjoyable to ride. She'll get one some day, I think it's a case of she doesn't want to buy a bike just to see if she'll like it.
>>16929711
Switch with her for a few days, you ride the scoot and let her ride the baiku, she will see the light
>>16929711

>>16928306
My bike just fucking sat since December and started in two seconds. I don't think my car would have done it.
>>16929722
My bike would be perfect for her to be honest, it rides just like a 125, just a bit heavier and faster, with wider tyres, but it's just as easy.
I've ridden her scoot and it's just awful, I can understand if you live in the city but we live in the sticks so you want to cruise at about 60mph, which it tops out at. Skinny wheels are super twitchy and catch every single bump too.
When she next does her CBT she said she'll do it on a geared 125 so hopefully that'll be enough to sway her.
>>16929729
>She never rides on the back of your bike?
She does but I'm trading my bike in at the end of the year for something that really won't be ideal for a pillion. The seat on her scoot is nice, but it's just not suited to the faster country roads around here, the surface isn't great so the little wheels pick up the bumps, and they're skinny so they feel twitchy when cornering above 20mph. Would be great for city riding, all the local pizza places use the same scoot for deliveries, but it's not for 'riding'.

Do these companies have the same Research and Development as the more established brands such as Shoei/Arai?

Do $50 helmets have the same aerodynamic properties?

Shoei and Arai helmets can be less than half as much in Japan, they have a massive "PREMIUM BRAND" markup in America, including a policy against any sales on non-discontinued merchandise to protect perceived value. To be honest I was rushed at the time but the features of the premium helmet make them more comfortable than shit tier, visibility better so improved FOV, weight is lower reducing the forces on your bonce when you do come off. You can remove the lining/install different cheekpieces to inspect the shell/ensure a better fit. From someone who has owned a shit tier (and crashed) and then gone onto Shoei (and crashed) I am in an informed position.

I've not said that shit tier helmets are unsafe, just less safe. Similarly with textiles, do you buy a £50 jacket off ebay, or £150+ with cordura/gore-tex? Which will offer the greater protective qualities. Ultimately its down to you what you think your limbs are worth. I lowslided in my Held textiles at 30mph and its damaged the stitching a bit, thats it. If it hadn't have been for cordura it would have likely burnt through the textile outerlayer and given rash.

>>16930399
There are so many other things that influence the price of a helmet besides impact protection though. I wouldn't buy a lot of full on shit tier brand helmets no matter how well they do in the impact test because I don't trust the thing to not fucking fall apart but that's another issue really. There is plenty of good helmets from 150USD and up.
>>16930399
>How have they managed to make an 800cc naked weight 203kg?
By the magic of BMW.
I used to say they don't use all cheap plastic shit, but that's no longer true.
>>16930552
I'm not sure how loads of companies are making their bikes so heavy. My CBR500R is 196kg, my brother's Fireblade is 180kg.
The funny thing is, the CB1000R which uses the same engine as that Fireblade just detuned, weighs 217kg. Somehow, in stripping a bike down they added 30kg.
>>16930577
Because not every bike has to be the lightest as possible.
Being comfy adds weight.
>>16930577
Because sport-standard bikes aren't stripped down supersports. They're economy bikes with the full purpose of being produced cheaply. At best they will just reuse a supersport engine, but almost never the chassis
>>16930591
more like euro 4 adds weight
>>16930591
Yeah but 30kg? BMW used the same chassis with the S1000R/RR and wet, the weight difference is 3kg. You can't honestly tell me that removing the fairing and adding flat bars should add 30kg.
>>16930606
The CB1000R waaaay predates euro 4.
>>16930612
that can easily be due to cheaper, heavier wheels, a bulkier exhaust system and and different swingarm and fork.

No, I'm saying it's odd that a bike with double the displacement and cylinders is so much lighter.
So, I've got a GSmeme00F and I'm having to replace to the petcock because the bitch leaks. I have the ability to buy a new bike, but after spending to get the carbs rebuilt and probably needing to buy a set of tires soon do I just deal with the bike and I have for another year.
I bought it at the end of last July and put 7k miles on it before putting it away for the winter in November. I expect that I will end up putting far more miles on it this year.

Faster than you'd expect. Fun to ride, reliable, cheap to run. Pretty good really.
They feel a little cheap and have those black painted exhausts that you expect to rust in no time. They're a bit like a cruiser version of an ER6

Nice bike but get them exhausts changed for something shiny quick smart.

The airbox is the only thing I hate on my Bolt. So damn ugly.
