Post your bike history and fall, if any, history.

>started 5 years ago on a restricted FZ6
>a year later swapped to 07 ninja 250 cos i wanted to be a cool 23 yearold guy
>stopped for a year then got a bandit 600 '01 for a few months, then a FZ6 again, then on a bandit 650 07, and now on a GSXR 600, k5

Only fell once at 10 kmph on the ninja due to following a car in traffic, and didn't have enough awareness to avoid a tile on the road, thought to loosen up and roll over it straight, bike flew right from under me.

>tfw my chicken strips are thicc cos i ride for 6 months through winter then stop for a year

The GSXR is my favourite so far, with the GSF 650 a close second simply cos it's extreme comfy.

He must mean a 600rr, and even then i don't think you can restrict it to that amount while being legal cos it's some bullshit about the restricted power being less than the full power when doubling the restriction.

It was my first bike, restricted but only on the throttle to 7k revs, full power till then. IT's a completely fine bike to learn on, and it's very reliable if he slips or falls.

600;s aren't bad for first time riders.

>It's fine restricted to 7k
Bruh, the one we, and that guy got, makes very little power below 8k.

The problem isn't that RPM, it's when he's chilling at 9k RPM around a turn and he hits a bump and his wrist twitches out of reflex and all of a sudden a hundred horsepower hits the rear wheel.

It's a slightly detuned r6 motor, and a supersports is definitely not recommended for a learner.

Nope I mean a 2002 CBR 954RR.
For starters the law you quoted was applied in all of europe except for germany, which somehow messed up the universal motorcylce license law that should have been used in all of europe. you could legally retrict any bike back then.
Keep in mind this was in 2011 the law has since been renewed

short answer:
yes

long answer:
It had the restricting plates in there >>16902012
and a throttle lock or whatever it is called so you could not open the throttle up completely.
logically I i hit the the throttle lock with a hammer so I could open the throttle more. But I think this made it actually worse. It would run really well until I opened the throttle more than what it originally was designed to do with this restriction. Then its felt like loosing power.
You couldn't just WOT it (well WOT would have been a fem millimeters at most lol) cause that wouldn't be where the bike would make all of the 34hp.
In retrospect I should not have modified the restriction in hopes to get more power. It would have probably run better.

Sure I could have taken out the plates and everything, but that would have been very obvious If I would have had a crash

>causes by a bump or wrist twitch
You have got some serious issues if you can't control the throttle on a 600.

The power is one of my lesser concerns here. The short steering lock, riding position, and geometry of the bike are more of the issue there

The fz6 has a supersports motor that is down by 15 horsepower, and after riding my buddies r6 the throttle reacts the same way.

I'm not saying it is impossible to start on one, I'm just saying that it is not a great idea in America with our unrestricted models. It would be a better choice to get an sv650 or ninja 650 or something.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is flipflops and wife beater and 10 is power ranger body condom, how protective are kevlar jeans?
>>
>>16904124
when evaluating any protection on a motorcycle, there are two things to consider: abrasion resistance, and impact resistance

kevlar has decent abrasion resistance, far more than regular denim/cotton jeans, but not as much as leather by a long shot.

kevlar has literally zero impact resistance. if you go down on your knee at 65mph, your joint is going to be obliterated and your skin is going to be ripped apart.

if you go down and the bike absorbs most of the impact from the road, and you just slide for ~3 seconds or less, your jeans will be destroyed but your road rash should be nonexistent to minimal

obviously leather pants are ideal, but I struggle to find a purpose for kevlar jeans. if you want something you can wear on a commute, get textile overpants and just wear them over normal jeans. longer lasting, easy to take with as they fit over everything, and usually have built in knee/hip protection at a basic level.

with kevlar jeans you are usually worried about fucking them up OFF the bike, and they only protect against low speed low impact crashes, like lowsiding a bike in a parking lot or in a school zone.

tl;dr scale of 1-10 i rate them a 5, decent for dense urban commuting at max speed of 35, skin will be hamburger past that

can anybody rec me some good gloves? usually get gauntlet style as I'm ATGATT to the max, but have been thinking about getting half-gaunlet or just glove style since my jacket extends to past wrist and it's kind of fucking annoying to keep stuffing either the glove or the sleeve into one another every day since they are roughly the same size and dont fit inside properly

Started with Honda mt50 at age 12, quickly get bored of the mower engine pumping out about 10bhp.
Hear that the honda (cg?) 100cc engine will swap into the frame. Buy engine and make it fit. Engine doesnt fit very well, have to grind the cylinder head mount and cooling fins down, still doesn't fit so bolt it up with what I can anyway.
Ride round like VTEC just kicked in yo. Then I blow it up.
Do "big bike test", here in the UK having done my basic training on a tragic 125cc. As I recall the instructor let me do my CBT on a 500cc.
The 500cc is a tragic ER5 with crash bars all over.
First big bike is the Honda VFR800 VTEC 2005. Probably my favourite all round bike ever
Now onto a gsxr1000k5, remapped, race suspension, full akrapovic, GPack over 300

i am thinking about buying the Dainese Air Frame Tex Black as my summer jacket, is it worth it? any better alternatives?
Also AGV K3, any good? should i just keep my ECE aprroved NZI until i have enough cash for the AGV K5?
>>
>>16904260
you could probably find something cheaper from REV'IT! and Alpinestars that would be about the same. The REV'IT! GT-R Air jacket seems pretty popular. If you have a set of pants from Dainese go with the Air Frame D1 so you can use the zip.

For the helmet I would recommend you try on as many helmets as you can and figure out which one feels best for you.

I don't get the purpose either.

It must have something to soften the inside wheel's suspension or else you would be fighting that thing so hard to lean it.

sorry brother, first time in that part of 4chan. would love if you took the time to explain why they are so worthless. Also what leather jacket would you recommend for hot weather. I mean 25-38 degrees celsius.
>>
>>16904424
i enjoy textile jackets because they are more breathable in socal weather. i wear supermoto gear underneath my jacket since i commute 55mph+ and am worried about impacting with another car since in socal if you are over 1 carlength from another vehicle you are too far away

i have a leather jacket too, which i am currently wearing after getting memed on a few months ago on /dbt/. i still wear the supermoto chestpiece and kneeguards under my jacket/overpants since i already have them. might as well wear them.

gonna buy a drz so they wont go to waste either way, not wearing my pads feels naked to me now, even thoguh the jacket and pants have armour in them already

>>

yes.

Preload lever, blip throttle as if you were downshift revmatching with the clutch, bam it will slide right in without any clutch nice and smooth.

I only use this if I'm being lazy and don't have my left hand on the bar though, it's not useful at any level of braking above plain engine braking for the most part.

Tubes are much worse than tubeless tires when punctured. Apparently dat screw didn't make it into the tube enough for a puncture or you'd have a flat, but you can't see condition with the tire installed.

Guys, I need help

First of all I'm going to buy my first bike soon and I don't really have much money, will be using my scholarship and some help from my mother

Things to consider:
>It's my FIRST bike
>I like "cruiser" type and can't spend more than 2,000 - 2,500 USD on it (40,000 MXN ~)
>My "go to" are Suzuki GZ150 and Bajaj Street 220 (Something like a VStar is way out of my range price, it costs the double)
>I live in a third world country (México) so I don't have many options available here
>Wanna buy a new one because used ones are almost always very poorly maintained because they don't even give a single fuck about them
>I will be only using it for going to college (Really, nothing else)
>I won't need more than 250cc because traffic

What do? Do you have any other options, advice? Should I an hero?
>>
>>16904843

Started last April, aged 33.
First driving school bike was a A2 Kawasaki ER-6N.
After about 2 week I got a Ducati Scrambler Full-Throttle.
Passed my A license in June, test drove the new SV650, MT-07, XSR700, Ducati Monster 9something and a 2016 HONDA NC760S without DCT.

Liked the XSR700 the most, but I got 1k discount on the NC750S so I decided to go with the NC750S, get more experience, save more money (the NC750S is cheap as fuck regarding taxes and insurance here in Krautland) and then go for a XSR900, Ducati Scrambler classic or Triumph Bonneville T120/T100 next year, depending on test drive.
