Living in a shitty part of town. Parent's shed was broken into when I was young, so I've never had a bike.

My old man's always had motorbikes though, he's recently retired so I'd love to be able to go on a bike journey with him some time. His last 3 bikes have been a Yamaha Fazer 600, Triumph Sprint and a BMW something. He's got a new Yamaha now, not too sure what model though.

pants are actually way more important than jackets for the most part.

If you set up a scenario where satan is there and says I'm gonna lowside and I get to pick leather pants or a leather jacket I'm gonna pick the pants (as long as I have gloves)

>>16871774
I'm interested in this too, I want some to attach to my textile jacket for motogymkhana and lower speed riding.

I ride a KLR and pretty much meet the stereotype.

My choke cable seized, where it would not turn off with the knob. So naturally I cut it off about 4 inches from the carb. Cable was corroded pretty bad and pinched in one spot. This shit has caused me serious problems on the road sometimes because it would stick open and run inoperably rich and kill the engine even at highway speeds.

So I got an elbow, like a metal tube thats connected but loose at the base, and a jagged cable end.

I want to loop the end and crimp it so I have a little pull hoop, and fit a rubber gasket in the elbow and jb weld the elbow to the carb body. So I'd have to pull the cable and hold it to use the choke.

Any reason why not to do this?

I can't imagine those being comfortable and having part of leathers or having leathers for the safety is so worth the extra $80 it's not funny.

That's technically half of a two piece suit so if you decide to do track days in the future or whatever you can get full leather coverage and get on track pretty quick.

Also, it depends if you care about those sorts of things as well but most other motorcyclists with a bit of experience are gonna laugh when they see those things strapped onto your legs.

The only study I've seen suggests you are a little more likely to sustain an impact to the jacket than pants. More importantly your upper body has more important organs. Like your helmet is probably the piece of equipment that is the least likely to be used in any given crash (mind you more likely than not still) but it's still the most important because it's directly protecting one of the two most important parts of your body.

I know leathers are way better and worth the extra money, but I wouldn't be wearing them on a daily basis like commuting to work, where these would be good to pop on over my work pants, and at least have something, but they're not going to be a replacement for real leathers.

I suppose I'm thinking about sliding and not impacting things, in which case a back protector and the specific armor becomes your most important safety feature anyway, Leather won't stop crush injuries.

For the most part when you slide down the tarmac almost all your weight is gonna be on your bum or thighs while barely any is on your torso, that's why I brought up the example of lowsiding and not hitting a car or highsiding, and why I'd rather wear a textile jacket and leather pants than the opposite.

>>16872002
well that's always the best option.

>>16872030
if you're just after slide protection, something for the knees is not the best option, you generally slide on the bum or thigh, if you know you won't wear leathers, get textile overpants you can take off and just already have your work pants, or get good kevlar jeans if you don't want to have to change at all.

You think being an open person means you're weak, a "liberal" or a "commie". You flip your shit on bullshit, void "rights" and don't demand basic things from your country, which at that point doesn't have any reason to exist in the first place.

You're grotesque to us. So close yet so distant.

I wonder if it's just most bikers being uneducated ignorants or not.

the upper body hosts more vital organs, but it's important to keep in mind that the lower body is more likely to suffer crush injuries during a motorcycle accident as you tend to slide on your ass across the pavement, and hitting any substantial object at speed can easily result in a broken pelvis or a broken femur if your foot hits the ground wrong. lower body injuries can be fatal due to the high blood flow to the bones, each femur flows ~700cc of blood per hour and the pelvis flows ~1500cc per hour, most adults only have ~5L of blood, so do the math

Kind of. I have leather/textile hybrid overpants but they're bulky as fuck, weigh a ton, and the knee armour means they don't fold for shit so they're not super easy to store, and they're still not as easy to get on and off as I'd like. My dad started me on a YZ50 when I was 6 and I crashed it a lot so I was scared of it. Then he got me a KLX110 when I was 11 or so and I couldn't flat foot it, which caused me to crash a couple times, so I was fucking terrified of crashing at that point. When I got comfortable with the 110 he had me ride his KDX200 which I couldn't kick start, put on the stand or touch on either side, I had to ride up to a bucket to come to a stop.

Doesn't help that he never told me about riding gear, only ever had a helmet.

I know that feel. It's why I ended up buying the Radian. Close enough, but older. It's a good bike, and in many ways it's similar to your FZ6. Except for it being water cooled and fuel injected. Shame I can't borrow your pipes for a 4 into 1 conversion. I have to find an 86-90 FZ6 to rob the pipes from it.
But even then, the 4 into 2 still sounds nice. And if I can find old exhausts from Pops Yoshimura, I could have a really rad contemporary mod.
I'm debating which one to do. FZ pipes, or stock pipes with the Yoshi cans.

hi dbt, guy selling this for 250

ill just copy and paste what he says basically i need advice, and a rough estimate on how much it would cost if i had a motorcycle repair shop fix it up and make it street legal (i do not have the money for tools nor do i even have a garage)

77 PE250 PROJECT. NOT RUNNING

bought as a project but have no time and running out of space.

Exhaust and carb are off in bags
Kickstart needs a bolt, it's off right now but I can put it on to prove it turns over

It's complete as far as I know other then lights and gauges

I'm not making any money I just want to get my money out of it.
So first $250 takes it.

Nigger that's fucking retarded. It's a two stroke from 77, it's the simplest shit ever, buy 4 tools, get a new reed valve, clean the carb and bolt the kicker back on in your fucking living room and it'll run just fine.

Literally the perfect thing to learn on.
Offer him $150, take $200
>>
>>16873375
interesting, can you help me out on how i could convince him giving it to me for less im kinda autistic socially
>>
Show me some comfy bike youtube vids.

Something like motogeo/gosutto/etc

Make eye contact. Act like you know what you're doing.
>I'll take it for $150.
>>
>>16873390
>go look at it
>bring someone who is mechanically inclined if you can to verify that all the parts are there
>spend like 2 minutes looking it over and making sure all the parts are there
>ask him a couple basic questions about it, why isn't it running, how long has it been sitting, when it last ran, he might not know dick about it at all
>ask "will you take $150 for it?"
>he'll say "nah that's too little, I'll do $200" or "nope, $250 firm" in which case he's a dick
>say "lets meet in the middle at $175" or "$200 is the most I can do"
>he'll either accept or not
>pay him what you agreed on, or don't
>you have no reason to be overly polite or fair to the guy you will never see him again

I want to cross the earth with Obi-wan

It may not be wise to negotiate until you see the bike.

When in person ask him something like, "what would you say to 150?"

He will likey counter with less than asking price, you can attempt to negotiate from there or take his counter offer.

I've watched that so many times and it's just as good each time

>ywn go on a trip with ewan

They're idiots and long way round was boring.
Why anyone would ever think it's a good idea to ride across the barren wasteland of Russia is beyond me.

KILL YOURSELF

holy fuck filtered.
>>
>>16873416
Another thing, don't stand around and stare at it and think and yammer on and on. There's no reason for a craigslist deal for something like this to take more than 10 minutes.

I am so saddened.

ok thanks but i still have the questions, now that i know its 2stroke and all is that even a thing to make it street legal? i probably dont seem like i know what im doing but my friend already taught me how to ride a bike but he never responds to my messages so i cant rely on him. yea im looking for a starter bike but my money is tight and is it worth it to start off with this bike or should i keep my money and look for a more long term starter bike?

These are great had mine a year and they are in great nick. Really comfy, can be a little warmer than regular jeans but much easier wear than leathers.

Do you homos have biker rights groups or do you just grovel before your Islamophile loser governments?

In the US we fucking fight to change laws and it works.
>>
>>16871525
No, you aren't or you would have one but you are too lazy and stupid to go through the hoops to get one.

Real bikers solve problems. You aren't solving, just whinging like the loathesome little cunt you are.

Fly to Euroland yourself. Buy Aprilia. Take it apart or pay the nice man at the dealer. Ship parts to your CONUS address separately as used parts.

Now you can buy that stupid feeble little loserbike.

Yet he's not importing Muslims, unlike your goddess Auntie Merkel.
>>
>>16871628
Did you use a JIS screwdriver?

One way to loosen some is to tap it a couple times using a hammer and punch. That can also slightly swage the head into usability sometimes. If you can pinch the head with a small visegrip that's another way.

A hand impact driver forces the bit into the screw and can work very well with those, though you'll likely be limited to Phillips bits. #2 Phillips usually fits.

Do this. I'd go brass.

See KLR forums for more details. This is not a KLR forum.

You could likely get away with nigging it your way though. Try it and if it doesn't work you didn't lose any money.
