Updating broke all the apps which was a pain in the ass. was rFactor like this back in the day breaking mods and stuff every update?
>games still use sparsely-placed patches of perpendicular-2D grass with no physics
>people are okay with this
Are you one of those /v/irgin autists who find some tiny corner of map that requires noclip to even access just to find a low quality texture then posting a thread with a screenshot declaring the whole game "Blunder of the century"?
Fuji 1993 0.97 for rF2 by SJ
-fix z-fighting issues between trees and fences
-reduce the brightness of the glass on the pit building
-grid slot object seems to be fucked in some way, so it always appears a little brighter or darker than the rest of the track, getting worse towards sunrise/sunset. Any ideas?
-more shadow casters I guess
Shit is fun as fuck in the Lola T290
just look at this shit >>14211205
with that logic, might as well not even bother modelling the cars because during a race you're inside it and can't see the exterior
>1 hour before /turnleft/ test race
>3 times on livetiming
ded series senpai
Threadly reminder that Valrys is incompetent at running a series, and should be thrown in the loony bin.
Except you will need the cars modeled for other drivers, replays, third person camera etc.
I'm just pointing out how insignificant the grass between the tarmac and the barrier is.
TOGE STREAM GOING UP SOONISH
Reminder that the final event of /ovgGT6/ Spec Miata is on tonight. The event room will open shortly after 20:00 UTC, with quali for heat one scheduled to start at 20:30 UTC. All are welcome!
No series as yet been decided upon to succeed Spec Miata. Proposals are for the new series are appreciated too.
I just checked and it's National A for Community, Open Lobby and Quick Match; National B for Seasonal Events
I use a great mod called box cam. In the first webm I took advantage of it freaking out at f5/f7 cams for a cool effect.
If you download it, shift+right/left arrow will give you a cool effect that is easily replicated every time. It's perfect for the countless PTP tracks that do not have cams. Like this one:
Have a go with this. It's a rally prepped f40 competizione, very fun.
Also be sure to get the 288GTO grp b
But the Ferraris and BMWs are ridiculous, if they actually drove like that irl they'd all be wrapped around trees. While the Lotus cars and the GT86 drive more like something off Race07/GTR where there is oversteer but it is manageable.
I haven't got any videos/webm, I don't play AC much any more. I think it is the game rather than my technique, why should the Ferraris and BMWs be so hard to control when all the other cars are fine including ones added in mods and I don't have the same problem with any other racing game.
Thanks a lot, I still have some wierd problems with this mod but I guess I'll find out how to fix them.
Also, here's a webm test from some random skid I recorded
>All these rally webms
Did /ovg/ get the rally-bug all of a sudden ?
I just wanted to try something that wasn't DiRT today, because fuck the winter.
AC does have its own kind of slip physics but sounds like you just need throttle control and weight shiftan
All I ever do in AC is rally these days
>all of a sudden
/ovg/ has always loved rally, but it's just everytime we discuss it we summon rally2kfag so we stopped
Grats to Aspirations for winning the Irohazaka meme race
I hope you are all looking forward to the Transfarargagrgagragrgargsnanansan death race next week. I will think up a final set of rules next week but the gist of it will be trying to be the last person to not die
GTR Evolution for Stock Car Extreme can be found here:
Car models are obviously a bit dated, but I gave it all the necessary steering lock updates & non-shitty cockpit cameras. It drives real nice and there's like nine different cars.
Still working on the GTR2 conversion. Have to do some bullshit sorcery to fix the FFB.
Guess I wasn't paying attention then.
I dedicate this win to Grounded "Real Human Bean" Fin
1. Is it true everone here is british?
2. I played DiRT Rally. It's hard game to play with my MOMO Feedback steering wheel and easier to play with keyboard. WHY?
both FWD Mini and RWD(awful handling! hell of a car! never! never! never!) Stratos
2. because going lock to lock is much faster on keyboard than wheel
Turn left test race went well, hopefully we can get the safety car fixed for the superspeedways or else it will probably be a shit show. see you guys in 2 weeks for our next test race at Daytona International Speedway!
1. No, but there are a few here, /ovg/ is pretty mixed imo.
2. Besides the lock-to-lock, wheels in-general present a steep, but rewarding, learning curve.
>go into a Canada computers basically just an electronics store with my brother
>they have a g27 and some racing rig setup
>this is literally what i have been training for
>take a seat
>dirt rally is on it
>the racing rig sucks dick the pedals are not even secured the platform they are on is flipping over and sliding back
>the gear shifter is loosely bolted to something
>a crowd gathers
>pick an e30 and get to the first hairpin and all the FFB and degrees of rotation are fucked on the wheel and i drive like shit
>get embarrassed and just leave
Wow, i'm still disappointed this was my time to show i was good at something and i made myself look like an idiot.
is anyone actually having any fun playing this game with a gamepad?
further, the physics seem to fly out the window, once you dare to leave the road, or even touch the edges of it, which is really hard to avoid with a gamepad.
it is very fun but very frustrating at the same time
/turnleft/ skins for Global Footwork Racing
Almost done, just need to make the camera dome on Indy's car white.
>>So I have been thinking of this idea, I call it OVGNN. A news network about /ovg/
>How would it work
A live stream that runs on for 24hours a day dedicated to /ovg/ news.
Similar to ESPN or CNN.
We would have two or so news casters on this live stream. We could even have more if additional people are up to it. If we even get enough, we could have 2 or even 3 people on doing a broadcast!
>What would the news be about?
Simply put, OVGNN would be all about news featuring /ovg/ drivers and series even sometimes drama!
That's all their is to it really!
How do you folks feel about this?
that's not what i mean. especially with the scotish stages, i get the feeling that the ground is solid concrete and my car is pure rubber. or in the picture the car was already pretty much at a stand stil, but it then fell to the left onto it's tyres.and then there's times, when you roll the car going 50 km/h, but it rolls like you were going 150 km/h
i'll try to stay motivated
I can see it now
"This week in touge, no one showed up, SJfari is still on the run with a warrant out for his banning, everyone found the secret line, and Moonman crashed royally...again"
I just ordered this, is it good?
Probably did that in the wrong order.
Did a quick job of making a shitty m6gt3 mod into this
too lazy to do mirrors and some 3d stuff like the tires, but it's fun
>"This week in touge, no one showed up, SJfari is still on the run with a warrant out for his banning, everyone found the secret line, and Kita took someone out with a J-turn...again"
cant think of anything really ridiculous but this is among my favorite overtakes
I've done a lot of them, mostly going for gaps that barely exist.
>6 car got loose on exit
>had to swerve to avoid him
>pointed the nose straight at the wall.
>countersteered in sync with the guy and missed the wall by a few inches.
>passed him and won the race
so i'm pretty quick in karts, usually i'm in the top 2-3 every year in my regional karting league (~70 entrants in my category), but i'm garbage in sims. anyone have a similar experience? did you figure it out?
There are various little tricks in sims that don't work in reality - for example, you can keep a trickle of throttle on all the way round a corner to balance the car without much in the way of penalty
you have to treat it as a game not as a sim.
learn how to play the game.
I dont know how else to describe it, i have the same thing with rally games, no game "feels" real in terms of surfaces
karting is still about lap times, its not constant wheel-to-wheel racing. plus qualifying.
the only major differences are the unsprung chassis, lack of differential, and reduced torque

How is it for regular day-to-day stuff? I'm hoping to do the same and not have a conventional desk.

Nah, I should fit fine.
>Start the game
Hey, how do you join one of the Rfactor 2 servers? It's not on the proper list and I'm not seeing an easy 'join by ip' button, is there some way that I should know about and I'm just being retarded? I assume I am.
very nice very nice I have an idea
make this a completely new game.
So pretty much a huge map like 4x just cause 3 and a bunch of dungeons, towns, quests, normal rpg stuff scattered about, but the only way to get around is in your car and go explore obviously when you first get your car its stock but the more you lvl up your character the more you feel the need to explore get to better areas. So you need off road equipment. Also you would need to eat/rest so your car would need some sort of camper or something. gameplay is third person shooter or fps maybe fps so that when you are in the drivers seat it is maximum comfy. offroad enthusiasts and /k/'s dream
I got pretty into that DiRT on gamepad, played 2 and 3 and was really excited when rally came out. Just got a G29 and I'm having a really hard time adjusting. I just can't turn the wheel fast enough... I guess the key to using gamepad is to make small twitchy adjustments. I got pretty good at recovering believe it or not.

where were you when david dies
i was sat at home doing uni shit and listening to blackstar when moritz ring
'David is kill'
Aww man. First time the death of a singer/celeb really fucks my shit up. (I admit I was a bit sad when Leslie Nielsen died)
Am I retarded or something, but why does speed in games feel so slow compared to real life?
I could be driving on a hillclimb in assetto corsa at 80km/h but it'll feel like 30km/h
I mean I know its all scaled down and shit but still
I feel the opposite. Speed feels slow to me in real life.
100 in Forza feels like a fuck load compared to 100 in my Panther platform.
But then, 25 feels slow as fuck in both games.
the feeling of speed in real life is vastly diffrent from vehicle to vehicle, and slowing down from let's say 140 km/h to 80 km/h will make the slower speed feel extra slow
also refer to James May driving the veyron at top speed and what he almost did when he slowed down
Yeah I agree - VR does actually give a sensation of speed. I've thrown my arms clear of the wheel and almost braced for a prang against a wall under the DK2 - can't wait to see what the CV1 feels like.
Did a Jenson Button tap at a car with an LMP2 Acura. The guy was squeezing into a gap that was too small at Road America on the exit of the last turn on the last lap.
Probably not as insane, considering it was semi-accidental, but I thought it was cool asf.

holy shit why are all the wheels for 8th gen consoles so retardedly expensive for the same features as old wheels but yet still have mediocre reviews all around
I just want to play Forza 6 with something decent
Part 2: Watersports edition
>low field of view
>chase camera (?)
that one time I didn't have to rip a J-turn.
if only all cars could spin this nicely.
Looks terrible but I assume that was the point.
According to ISR, the reverse is true: you need an XB1/PC base and a PS4/PC base, but rims, pedals, shifters work with both.
16 min 50 s
Fanatec works the way you describe, but is more expensive than a two-base Thrustmaster setup.
Hey paul, I just took a ride in transfagarasan, and I don't know if it fits the whole "survival race" you want to do. I'll agree that it is a nice track, but it might be a bit too long.
Monontyu goes 10/10 for the whole thing in a group B rally car, and it still took him 13 minutes to do the whole thing. Imagine how much it will take for us to do it, while we skid around every corner. Klausenpass might be a better idea, but it might have a bit too many straights. Still, after a couple of runs, people might get bored. I think you idea works better on shorter tracks.
Klausenpass is way too short, but it's not about whether it's too long or too short, it's about how hard or easy it is to just fall off a cliff somewhere and die. Transfagarasan has very few guard rails and lots of corners where it's easy to go in too hot and fall off, so it's perfect
That doesn't mean that if 12 cars start the 8 will crash in the first round. There is no guarantee that people will crash. Probably the 5 -6 fastest drivers will distance themselves and the last 3 will desperately try to push to get out of the last place. And once someone spins/crashes out, you don't even have to push that hard, since you're pretty much, safe, as long as you keep a steady pace.
I know the timing would be shitty for you, but you should check out snail, the division placement makes for close finishes and great clean racing.
>running with multiple people from ovg on transfag
these faggots cant into the first corner of any track, what makes them think they can successfully group run a touge and throw overtaking into the mix
I ran touge last day. Things got kinda colorful at best, and it was a clusterfuck at worse. People divebombing in the hairpins and shit.
It was kinda enjoyable, but honestly it isn't what I wanted touge to end up as.
And paul is still a better organiser than valrys, and he would've been a bit better if he didn't whine so much about organising.
/ovgGT6/ Spec Miata reached its thrilling conclusion on Sunday during testing conditions on the Nürburgring GP-Strecke. src_ej6 was thoroughly unperturbed by the intermittent downpours and managed to keep his podium streak intact. bdubclub was every bit the equal of src on the soaked track and scored a second and a first, putting him sixth overall. dethadder ran competently in both heats and managed to earn enough points the climb back into second overall. Poor starts in both heats meant that BlackDog ran lower in the pack and was unable to capitalise on the few mistakes that deth made.
Congratulations to your /ovgGT6/ Spec Miata podium and thanks to everyone else who turned up and raced clean, I hope to see you all in the next series.
Speaking of which, the next series has yet to be decided upon. Popular candidates include:
>BoPed American Muscle, pre-1979
>Barn-found Classics Claim Race (pre-1979 road cars)
I plan on running a test race or two before starting the next series in earnest. I notice src has seconded my proposal on the sheet, so I'll expound a little on the proposed rules later.
Once I get a lap done in this blasted Fan Car seasonal, I'll sign up with them. I'll probably stick to their support series though.
>The full car list can be found below:

Spork Juct PC Repair (also known as SJ PC Repair) is pretty good at fixing computers, they helped me get Assetto Corsa to work on my PC, (which is brand new from 2004 btw) which SHOULD have been able to run the game, but for some stupid reason (probably shitty Italian devs) it couldn't.
has anyone with a g25/g27 had the optical encoder crack? Mine cracked after around 4 years of use. I tried replacing it with a brass one, but it stopped working again after about 1 week. has anyone had something similar happen?
same thing happened to me and I botched the repair and made it worse, I then called up logitech and they sent me a completely new wheel
>bought the first one second hand
>it was 8 months past the manufacturer 3 year warranty
>no proof of purchase
>support guy found some loophole and got the replacement rolling
always worth a try
I'm not retarded like >>14222229
so I just tightened up a couple of small screws, glued the encoder to the little rod it rotates on and it's been perfect ever since.
I think I followed this https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Logitech+G27+Optical+Encoder+Replacement/42113
and they wanted me to return my whole damn setup just to send me a G29, which they still haven't sent yet. Maybe they're suspicious because the mounts shattered before the encoder went bad.
still fucking salty that they wouldn't let me keep the shifter, but I found a crack in its mounting hardware too, as I was packing it up.
>And paul is still a better organiser than valrys
the claim-car race sounds really interesting.
But I'm afraid this is not just overcomplicating things, but also once again opening the door for whiny faggots arguing and complaining just for the hell of it and shitting up the thread again.
I started simracing with GTR 2 and I really liked it, it has pretty good and varied content so you're not doing much wrong with that. Also check out the Power and Glory mod while you're ahead:
If you wanna try oval racing, the best cheap option would be NR2003
that's because you don't know where to look.
besides you need to keep in mind rf1 is a 10 year old game, it has its limitations.
Nah nigga, I've tried a shitload of rf1 mods, but outside of a select few (DRM, Enduracers, BES sorta, Legends, CARTfactor, V8factor) most were shit or had big issues.
There's no need to keep playing a 10 year old game with shit ffb unless you're really attached to mods. Despite having much fewer cars, the ones that are in rF2 are nearly all more enjoyable than the vast majority of rF1, and at least on par with the best of rF1
>literally anything by vritua LM
the list goes on
I'm interested to see what division you'll be placed in from your qualifier. Also, I like the 'Murrican Muscle but I think SS would be too much tire.
I will kill you in the face.
I guess I'll have to get on this tonight since it ends tomorrow, can't let this shit stand. ;)
We had just opened up a random room, I didn't remember exactly what he had proposed. But I do like the sound of it.
It's hardly any worse than the bitching that goes on after any other series race or >wat rally game is best
'Murrican Muscle is getting a lot of attention, so I'll run that as a test event this weekend.
>I will kill you in the face.
For the record, I was going 100% until T27. After that, it's quite cautious. I think I gained all of the time in the first quadrant.
>I didn't remember exactly what he had proposed
The technical regs are on the Sheet.
Berger, was it you who submitted the detailed proposal initially? It looks good, though SS is a little sticky, perhaps we could try the rules on the doc with SH this weekend? Then again, CS could be fine as we won't be running FF cars.
I know, I didn't feel like going downstairs to get my laptop. I also saw when you proposed it a thread or two ago too.
>tfw 'murrican and won't be home for hours
We shall see how long you're faster m90.
>Tfw finally getting decent at drifting in FM6
It's too bad I still have no clue how to set a car up for it. I'm just using someone else's drift tune.
Also I'm still unsure if I should try driving a shorter wheelbase car.
I don't know. That's partially why I'm here.
Hmm. I guess maybe I should stick to gitting gud with the Subaru then. It's a bit of a handful on narrower tracks (like Nurburgring and Rio), though, because of its length.
I noticed that the Lexus SC300 is a popular drift choice, is that because of a "Muh Soarer" mentality or because it's actually a pretty good platform? Because this Subaru isn't a popular drift car.
Basically, when learning, start off with something torquey that doesn't have a very peaky powerband. You need to learn to control the car first and when the tyres are going to slip and whatnot.
Admittedly I learn in a Viper so I might not be the best teacher.
>tfw only picture of Mk.1 Drift Viper
Yeah I proposed muscle cars. Don't ask me why I forgot to put it in the doc at first, thanks to whoever did that
I did some testing with various tires, and I think SH work just as well. Compared to SS you need more throttle control, but the cars are less twitchy. CS tires are a step too far though, and since we're using fully prepped muscle cars with over 500 hp it's probably fair to provide at least some grip.
If you want to do testing yourself, I suggest using a standart car like the Charger Super Bee. The premium ones are generally less hectic.
Anyways, I hope I'll be around for the test race

Yes it is, and it's pretty much like the one in GT5. There's a version with 1/3 power but that's for pussies, just pick S1 in the tuning menu
