>When I was at Papyrus
Reminder that only the Truck physics in NR2003 were realistic, and those were made by Project Wildfire.
>"But it's entirely in line with what Cup drivers told us for years when I was with Papyrus."
Matt Sentell never directly worked on NR2003. So I'm not sure where you're going with that. But it isn't outside of reason for him to have gotten information and accounts from engineers and drivers when it came to stock cars given his position at Papyrus as well as his previous works.
Okay I've been at this for half an hour with a mix of google and brute force and nothing is getting rid of the car variant I just made, does anyone know what the fuck to do here? Am I just completely retarded?
Then whichever car you wanna delete a skin of, go to its folder. For the Stock Car for instance, the folder is ISI_StockCar_2015, and there will be a list of skin folders you can remove
What guys would do is convert every mod to Truck Series physics. Hence why you'll see basically every noteworthy mod offer a .CTS variant, along with a car file converter.
Of course, it's easier to shitpost >LE JAMES BTFO LOLOL XD BTFO than actually know what you're talking about.
Yes, though the guy who got sued was making an IndyCar mod, and what fucked him in the court case was violating an NDA, not making physics adjustments.
I'm using the lite cracked install that I think has the Userdata folder in the game directory instead of Documents, and I deleted the new skin's folder. However, after doing that the new car variant is still ingame, just without a skin anymore.
>mod physics better than the BEST SIMULATION OF ALL TIME physics
also, why do you come back here if you dont want to associate with OVG in the first place? Stockholm syndrome?
Every once in a while, you get something that isn't a shitpost.
The AC forums are a personality cult but occasionally the guys from VS find shit.
The SMS forums are good for a laugh.
505 Games might have sent AC shills to RaceDepartment, but a couple interesting people have PM'd me to chat.
I just saw your Rift article, that black box thing doesn't happen with the Vive and I'd imagine they sorted it with the retail Rift
The only downside of the (not final) hardware I tried was at first you notice the gaps between the pixels but it only took a few seconds for me to forget about it. I'd happily play racing games with that non-final Vive I used (which I think was higher res than the DK2 Rift)
Can someone help a Forza shitter with a drift tune?
All my cars feel really sketchy they're not smooth at all, I just feel like a spaz while I'm driving--
Alright guys I've been trying to get the build 1036 crack to work for rF2 and for some reason it opens a window saying "auto-subscribing to workshop items" it never leaves this window and will crash when clicked on after about 5 minutes of waiting
>What do you guys suggest i do first in the game?
Get your National A licence ASAP so you can join us online at the club linked in the OP. National A also opens up Quick Matches, which are great sources of cash. Add some club members as friends and various leaderboards in the game will be populated with their times, giving you something legitimately challenging to aim for.
Single player in GT6 is probably the worst in the series tbqh.
Bahaha you get motion sick from it? Poor Oggy.
I've been using DK2 for well over 12 months with racing sims and love it, won't turn back to monitors, am well aware of the pixel gap and resolution limitations and also MORE aware of the fact that the final device is vastly improved there. I don't think it'll be perfect, but this is the first step into a brave new world of sim hardware, and I truly think it's the way of the future.
For other people who haven't worn one, at this point in proceedings DK2 works well in PCARS, ok-good in AC for hotlapping for fun but useless for racing/hotlapping for times because you can't change setup. It's wonky in R3E and it works fine in iRacing - they've made the HUD screens larger since you tried it, James.
The biggest limitation, arseface, and one that's not getting a huge amount of attention is that you're going to need a very grunty PC to drive the retail version. The DK2 runs 1080p at 75Hz. This means that if you're getting <75FPS, you get tearing and smearing that can make the viewer uncomfortable. But remember, it's rendering the game *twice* - which means you effectively need to be pulling 150FPS out of whatever you're playing.
The consumer version is running at 90Hz at 1200p - which means you're needing to push out 180FPS.
Going to take quite a PC to do that. I've got an overclocked i5 6600K, 16GB RAM, my racing sims installed on SSDs and a GTX970 I bought to wait to see if nVidia drops a card tailored for the retail version; push comes to shove I'll chuck a 980Ti in when I get my retail headset if nothing moves on that front.
But the whinges about an expensive product ain't nooooothing on the whinging that will come when people realise what they need to drive it.
>mfw people buy it and don't have the 3 USB 3.0 slots it needs
People who've bought the DK units talk about "VR legs" and it's truly a thing. I've not suffered from motion sickness, nor has my other friend who races with one; we've tried them on every friend and family member who'll don the headset - so far I've had one person who's copped the motion sickness.
That said, you do get an unsettled kind of sensation after using it for a little while for the first few times and the key thing is to TAKE IT OFF before that happens, use short sessions with longer breaks to get used to it. Nobody I know - including the one friend who got ill - have had any problems after the transition period - and that's never lasted a full night of fucking around with it.
If you persevere to the point of discomfort to try and tough it out, there is anecdotal evidence from other users that you can actually reinforce the dizziness/nausea for next time - and long term.
On the PLUS side of it, though:
>Wheel to wheel racing has never been more convincing, or more immersive. I've tucked my front wheel in the gap between the wing and sidepod of a mate's car and driven in formation as you peer over at it.
>Even with limited graphics it demonstrates the ability of the human body to be fooled - the first time I went sideways into a wall through the gravel trap my hands left the wheel and almost went to brace for the hit.
>The sense of elevation change is much more convincing - and elevation change on tracks is one of the truly wonderful things about real track days.
>I'm faster with the OR. This is due to a few things, like way better situational awareness when racing close, but also because you can catch slides faster- you do what you do in a real car: look where you want to go and steer there. That element is worth more than it sounds like.
Pic related, FWIW.
They offer CTS physics because the Trucks have a bigger slipstream effect compared to the Cup car, which at the time was one of the reasons for the switch to the boxy Car of Tomorrow
Hey, can somebody here who has made a custom skin for Rfactor 2 go into userdata\player\all_vehicles.ini, ctrl+f their driver name and tell me what it says the location of your .veh file is?
make sure your wheel is set up correctly, if your wheel lock is at the default 200' you're probably giving way too much input
if you are set up correctly go easy on the throttle and use smooth inputs on corner entry, getting gud would help too
Hey guys just got a ps4 and I was trying to find the best racing game. I know Grand Turismo isn't out yet, so what should I look into until then? People have mentioned Drive Club to me. What are your thoughts?
>make two skins
>give both same driver, team, number
>when the second gets made, the first disappears
well rfactor 2's skin system is baffling but at least i feel like i'm making progress here
>Getting used to no TC on GT6
>Still can't play without skid recovery
>Mfw trying to do the nurburgring seasonal event
RIP Erebus Motorsport's AMG E63 V8 Supercars 2013-2015
Pourin' one out for the homies.
So help me out guys, I am trying to drive with stability assist off, but I can't for the life of me get anything right.
What's the point of learning to drive without it? I already kinda know how to drive with traction control off, because even on the most permissive settings, it slows you down way too much and a little wheel spin is manageable anyway.
But what about stability? How can it improve my driving? How can I be faster by turning it off and learning how to not spin?
It seems like one of those things that take a ton of effort and the result is barely different than driving with it on.
Also, I'm using a gamepad
If you only care about going fast, you can probably keep it on, but why wouldn't you want to know that you personally control your vehicle and anything that happens is because of your choices? That's what I enjoy, anyways.
I tried exactly for that reason, but I can't manage it without going excessively slow.
Maybe is because of lolgamepad, or I just suck, I don't know.
But the longer I try and the longer I realise the efforts are not worth the results.
I mean yeah, ok I can "brag" about driving with no aids, but I'm still going as fast as people with aids on
How do you have your steering set up? If you've been using stuff that won't let you oversteer to all hell, you might have an overly sensitive steering setup. Dialing it back a good bit might give you that extra control you need.
I'm still trying to figure how to set it.
So far I set the sensitivity a bit low so I can make small corrections with minimal input without steering all over the place.
For the speed-relative filtering I set it so I can always steer more than necessary, even at high speed, to give me room in case something goes bad and needs bigger inputs to recover.
I probably need to tweak the sensitivity again because I'm not completely satisfied with it yet, small inputs (like barely touching the analog stick) still cause some excessive reactions more often than not.
But yeah, every time it looks like I'm throwing the car at the corner rather than carefully following a line, it's probably a mix of me sucking and the gamepad not being set properly yet
My wheel came today, I can hang out with you guys now right?
It's not about deadzones, i'm talking about intentional inputs.
Think of the long straight between the two hairpins at hockenheim, it goes slightly to the left and really needs you to go gentle on the stick for the car to follow smoothly.
What happens here instead is that even the smallest input causes a little bit too much steering, so instead of following the slight left turn I am actually doing a light zig-zag.
My guess is the sensitivity needs to be toned down a bit more, but I haven't tested it yet.
I've only ever been pulled over once (Though I should say I've only ever STOPPED once.)
>More several years ago, be me at 16, had given blood earlier in the day at school, still hadn't eaten, woozy AF.
>Driving home, going down this road where speed limit changes from 45 to 40.
>Way too fucking gone to notice the limit change, or the fact that I am now very comfortably passing a cop by going 5mph faster than him.
>Look over after I've already passed him and think "Oh hey, a cop. I should slow down."
>Lights go on, I pull into a parking lot on the side of the road.
>Older guy gets out, walks up to the door, I can barely see straight.
>"You alright son?"
>"I gave blood earlier today. I don't feel all that good...Oh, I'm supposed to give you my license, right? And that piece of paper in the glove box..."
>lean over and try and open the glove box, but it's locked, not comprehending that fact.
>"Son, that's alright. Tell you what, I'll just follow you home to make sure you get there alright."
>I live like 3 minutes from where he pulled me over. Pull out of parking lot, doubt I signaled, and he follows me the whole way to my house.
He wound up walking me to my front door, rang the front doorbell, and handed me over to my father whom I'm sure must have thought I did something stupid at first.
Cop explained it all, said it wasn't a worry, but to probably not let me back out for the rest of the day. By that point I was asleep on the couch 5 feet from the door.
Few days later I wrote a letter of thanks and mailed it to the police department.
Not all cops are dicks.
>But remember, it's rendering the game *twice* - which means you effectively need to be pulling 150FPS out of whatever you're playing.
>The consumer version is running at 90Hz at 1200p - which means you're needing to push out 180FPS.
nigga where the fuck did you read this? that's straight up bullshit, the newewst nvidia and amd VR drivers have by now added functionality so this isn't needed anymore, it's some kind of interlacing that they are using to get around it. why do you think do they say a 970 is the minimum requirement? if what you said is true, even a 980Ti would be too shit for it.
I really have to stop pulling all nighters...Sorry guys.
And thank you.
Spark plug for your troubles.
The lock is reduced as speed increases to avoid crazy shit going on at high speed when you move the stick (I never change the steering lock in the setup menu tho)
There is only so much you can do with a couple of cm of stick travel and no FFB on it, I tried removing the speed filtering and it's absolutely unplayable
Also helps that I had one of those big ass compression bandage wraps on my right arm, and red cross paperwork in the seat next to me to back my story up.
And that I wasn't a little shit about it.
Still, he didn't have to basically escort me home, even if I was just around the corner.
oh I thought you were on a wheel.
If you are on a controller then assign 15-20% deadzone and play around with sensitivity till you find a sweet spot. In rf2 it creates this nice graph that should help you out with what you want.
I'm on pcars and the settings suck balls on this game.
You have to tweak your settings, launch a session, see if that works, quit the session, open settings again if it didn't work and repeat as necessary.
You can't even access the controller settings while in session and no graphs or helps of any kind of course.
Why would I need deadzones? Wouldn't that reduce the already limited stick travel that I have, effectively giving me a steeper input? Seems like the opposite of what I need here.
deadzones would help with the problem you are describing.
You said small input translates into too much in-game, so you want to reduce your input even further via deadzones. 15% would be the absolute minimum IMO.
Don't deadzones mean no input at all, followed by a steeper input curve because of the reduced effective stick travel?
I do need inputs, just smaller ones, that's why I was focusing on the sensitivity, to make the curve flatter at the beginning (so small ingame effect) and steep at the end (big ingame effect)
Don't listen to >>14229021
Use full lock on every corner and enter as sideways/backwards as possible.
Rear tyre temps less than 150 degrees are unacceptable.
Thumbsticks never fully go back to their original position which is why you can't drive in a straight line. Try going full lock to one side, release the thumbstick and drive forwards and you'll see you won't be driving in a straight line. Deadzone is meant to prevent that.
Second tip I can give you is to try to use the thumbstick as pic related to give you more precision for steering input.
It might also be a good idea to use the cockpit view to see how your steering input correlates to the in-game input. Might take some time to get used to it, but it's for the better.
Hong kong. Some Russian modders put it out.
>700hp turbo-i4 Lada with open rear diff
Nigga I don't even have it anymore. These webms are from 2014. Check the wiki.
Few days ago launched it again and saw the upgradeable cars. Pepper with 180 hp instead of 47 stock hp, that thing just spins every time no matter if LSD or Locked or Open dif. Gotta learn to corner with that thing.
I managed to play GT6 without TCS or any assists (except ABS), I can clock under 55 seconds on Tsukuba in 550pp NSX. It's kinda weird to control the throttle and brake on dualshock and steering with stick feels like I'm playing GTA with analog buttons. You'll make it, took me a few months to master corners and button sensitivity.
So it seems that the deadline for joining the RSRBR league is friday for additional driver signups. It also seems that max number of drivers allowed is ten. As we currently have 8 drivers confirmed there are two slots left. I know some people were thinking of taking part so if you are, give me a shout and sign up.
>he cant into french sim racing dads
off yourself my man
He's gotta learn the basics before he can realistically simulate being Chris Harris, anon
The google doc for Legends is back up. There's info, signups and links for all you need.
I don't know why Gents link isn't working for me, considering I own the doc, but here's one that does work
>wanting to participate in any of the series that are on the doc right now
>ovg in 1970s sportscars
>ovg in a turbo 80s car
I will remain cynical
Depends what exactly you're looking for. If you want car customisation and a single player mode like GT3/4, then yes it's shit
>Implying it won't be as shit as OVGSC
We struggle to drive modern race cars, does that crackhead actually think people can handle older cars? He might not be as retarded as Valrys when it comes to the handling of the series, but it'll be dead 3 races in.
We did pickups in the V8 Stock Cars, those went fine with the 8 people that did them. Put 30+ GTOs on a track, watch what'll happen. The difficulty curve is about the same between those two as well. T290 could go either way.
>good thing it wont be muh fully super serious pretend racecars.
>an ovg series that has a doc and a schedule and is for points
>expecting it to not be taken seriously by autists
Most /ovg/ series should effectively be organised pickup races. That way there isn't a prolonged death (ovgf3) and no one gets too mad when it gets culled when the time is right.
After the full enduracers pack is released. Will be an EC or GTP revival. We're just stuck in an interbellum which is why we're having lots of little series, because nobody wants to commit to something big that might be killed by hype for something else halfway through.
Kraid pls bring the Touge server back online with transfargasen asphalt downhill ;_;
Well on one hand AC has a shit ton of community made road cars, on the other hand you have to pick and choose the ones you want and then for most of them you need to edit aero.ini for it to work then hope the creator did well on their own or copied physics from a good car
But when the stars aling and you find a well made car you like and a well made track you like (like touge or hill climb tracks) AC is excellent for just driving (until it updates and you have to apply the community car sound fix for 9th time in a fucking row)
perhaps, I just feel some people might not be able to make those limits as there won't be any assists. Flat 6 is much easier to drive without assists, so would therefore be better for shitters and pad users (as long as the autoblip that enduracers forgot to take out was still on).
Just wondering if anyone else has this happen too. But the Miatas still require me to use the clutch pedal even with auto clutch on, which is fine I was just wondering if I'm the only one who had this. Yes I use the paddles for everything deal with it I'm shit and I know.
Hello /ovg/ amd welcome to the new game show: "Goal or no Goal!". I'm your host anon and boy do i have something for you guys and gals.
How this game works is I will show you three different webms of three opportunities to score in Rocket League. However the webms will be paused at crucial times before the ball crosses the line and YOU will have to guess the outcome of the chance! Is it a GOAL? or NO GOAL?
I know you guys are excited to start, and believe me so am I, the webms will be labeled A, B and C. I ask you to include all your answers in the same post to make life easier for me. What does the winner get you ask? Absolutely fucking nothing.
How much time do you have? Until I go to sleep, which is basically any time between the next 2 and 5 hours.
So let's kick things off with webm A
I am writing this letter as a humble note of appreciation for the outstanding customer service provided by your poster tonight 14th of January 2016. I was facing the problem of posting a link and was attended by Mr. Anon, working as junior shitposter on /o/. Mr. Anon hardly took 10 minutes to rectify the problem of my post. The ability to provide the resolution quickly exceeded my expectations.
I really commend the prompt service provided by Mr. Anon. There was no request made to leave the imageboard, otherwise posters at the other place find lament excuses to take time in telling people to gtfo. He also advised me how to keep SJ away and downloaded the /ovg/ updater for me. I am really pleased with the knowledge and skills of your staff. Great service makes your customers feel that you care about developing a long-term relationship that means more than just making a sale.
I would love to recommend your company to anyone who needs a posting hep service in the future. Keep up the good work.
so go ahead and make your guesses, and then we will see if it really was a "GOAL or NO GOAL!"
A: No goal
Anyone here knows what the fuck is the red marker in pcars telemetry supposed to indicate?
I am talking about the little red light that sometimes pops up on the front left suspension indicator.
I don't fucking get it, sometimes it looks like it indicates when the car is bottoming out, but then you hear and see your car scraping like hell and the marker doesn't always blink.
Sometimes it looks like it indicates when you run out of suspension travel, but then it lights on when you still have both travel and ride heigh left to spare.
I know it is somehow height/suspension related, but it works so randomly that it's hard to tell what the hell it is trying to show me.
Why does it come out? Why only on the front left suspension? Why is this game doing such a shitty job at providing me with basic information?
Pic related shows what I'm talking about, I found it on the internet so there is an extra blue arrow that points to something else (something that is a mystery too desu) so disregard that.
What car and driving settings do you guys recommend for gt6? I always turn if TC cus I hate having my throttle regulated and set ABS to like 5.
Is there any way I could be having more realistic fun? Just got the B license by the way woo
This means that our winner for tonight is POWER! Probably the only guy who doesnt even play rocket league was the one who got it right. Congrats to the winner and hard luck to all our contestants, see you next time!
Its literally in the response to the tagged post, you fucking inbred glutenfree faghole.
I hope your boyfriend dumps you for being such a colossal failure.
nice knowing you, lads. we had some hegtig battles but it's all over now

'Murrican Muscle Test Event is scheduled for 20:30 UTC (room opens at 20:00 UTC) this Sunday.
Car choice is limited to American cars no later than 1979. The technical regulations are as follows:
>Max tyre: Sports Hard
>Max power: 530 hp (538 PS)
>Min weight: 1285 kg
The race will take place in the 'Club Lobby' - not an event room - so that settings can be changed between heats. Anyone interested in taking part in an upcoming GT6 series is invited to attend. Those who are not in favour of the 'Murrican Muscle proposal are especially invited - the purpose of the test events is to find a formula which satisfies the greatest number of people.
Have you just started following ovg? We just finished a spec Miata series.
>Why aren't we doing another spec series?
>What do you mean I should have put it on the repeatedly advertised 'GT6 series proposals' sheet?
>the formula was perfect
Well.....thanks. I quite enjoy it myself.
Also, why would you say
>not using miatas for spec racing
when that's exactly what we just did. The first series and the next series aren't spec series. Maybe the next one can be another spec series after this?
Some people just want to watch the Irishman burn(internally).
>Mustang GTO and Nissan 300ZX Z32 coming to RaceRoom
OH OH OH YOU GUUUUUUUUUUUUUYS
>enjoying a sim while no one cares about it and promoting a /turnleft/ series on it is not shilling
Didn't EEC use models from Raceroom? If they can rip it, so can others. But it would be obvious from where they git them though...
It would've been awesome to have the 3 GTOs from raceroom + the celica from rfactor 2 running together.
If they did, then they're using some russian black magic because conversion isn't really possible through any of the standard methods. Pretty sure most of their models are from Shift and shit anyway
Like wings and winglets
All car models are ripped though (at least the ones in the GSCE version). Either from Shift, PCars or Real Racing. They are working with ShadowWorks to bring his 2016 Audi R8 model into the GTR2 version of the mod though, so thats one scratch made model right there
At the moment they can't find a way to fix the exploit setup.
You can run 1/1 wing, have the car scraping the ground, and be 1.5s faster than anybody.
Not to mention online results don't register properly, random people get awarded the pole, and they dont even let you adjust tire related settings.
>Shiet nigga, get your own server or something, like, who cares if the server is online, 5 people are probably gonna show up anyway, you know what I'm sayin'?
For real tho'. Kraid pls, we just wanna have fun.
The rules of the proposed 'Classics Claim Race' format are described below. Have a read and let me know what you think.
Model: 1979 or earlier road cars
Tyre: Comfort Soft
Free choice on any car fitting the regulations not in use
Submit a claim on the car of anyone who started a heat of the event, within 24 h. Claims should be submitted on the event page. Claims may be made on an unlimited number of cars, listed in order of preference, but only one post may be submitted.
>Event finish +24 h
Claims are filled in order of lowest points scored in the event to highest. Double-DNFs not elligible to claim; single-DNFs are treated as though their DNF heat scored the same as the heat they finished.
If you successfully claim a car and your current car is not claimed, it is placed in the Stockyard.
If your car is claimed and you do not successfully claim the car of someone else, you have free choice (any model not in use, including those in the Stockyard) for the next event.
If your car is not claimed and you submit a claim for three or more cars which is unsuccessful, you may keep you current car or exchange it for one in the Stockyard.
It's a shame you can't give cars to other players anymore like you could in GT5
still sounds like fun though tbqh famalam
