>Excluding some jazz fusion staff
That's kinda what I meant.
But, Kobong and Chimp Spanner are great. Modern bands like Wide Eyes (a bit cheesy), Peculate (really weird), and Mestis are great. Honestly if you eliminate jazz influences you eliminate a lot of what makes djent great. Then again I think Animals as Leaders debut is one of the best metal albums ever, so what do I know.

>Anderson .Paak - Malibu: 6/10
TOO LONG with too many boring tracks. Some amazing tracks with good features
>Showbread - Showbread is Showdead: 4/10
just, stupid cheesy synth hardcore? idk, strangely generic for something so unique

>>61870184
While prog is a very self-serving genre and being self-serving isn't inherently bad, Dream Theater represent the worst of a genre already filled with self-indulgent expressionism. Dream Theater are not as fun as Gentle Giant or Genesis, are not as good songwriters as Pink Floyd or Porcupine Tree, nor as adventurous as Can or King Crimson. The only thing this prog band really has going for them is their technical exhibitionism and histrionics. However, much like Rush, this is merely a front to hide just how ordinary and uninspired their music is much. While the members of Dream Theater are more than capable of playing, the ability to play something worthwhile is a trait that is lost on the group. And it is this that makes Dream Theater experienced, yet so amateur
>>
>>61871656
I respect your opinion, but I disagree
>>
>>61871457
>this is btw a terrible reason to bump a review up a point
In most cases I'd agree but Bowie made the album with the sole purpose of it relating to his death. Listening to and deconstructing the album before and after his death are two completely different experiences and the fact that the album was made because of his imminent death shows a brilliance most artists don't have
Anyways why are we discussing Bowie in a metal thread

Hey does anyone know where can i download music from bands like Poison (The germans that made some thrash back in the 80's, not the other faggots), Slaughter Lord, Onslaught, Slaughet from Canada, Obscurity from Sweden, Mefisto (also from Sweden)... any of those or all of them, and in general where can i get some good underground 80's thrash/death metal. In the shithole i live there's not a fucking place where i can get any of those, and i can't buy from amazon or stuff like that since they don't ship to where i'm from. Als been searching for a couple of hours for torrents or links on any blog or web but can't seem to find anything.

Just give it a try to the basics of black metal: stuff like Burzum, Darkthrone, Emperor, Enslaved, Immortal... bands like that, if you like them, then start listening some other bands. The sad thing about black metal is that 90% of the bands are clones of the Norwegian bands from the early 90's (especially Darkthrone, Mayhem and Burzum).

If you're looking for pre-Black stuff you can listen to Celtic Frost & Hellhammer, Venom off course, Sarcófago, Bathory, early Sodom.. stuff like that

for practical purposes if you're in the anglosphere when you say 'muslim' you're talking about the middle east and large portions of africa. There are no Indonesian child grooming gangs in the north of England, although Indonesia is one of the largest muslim enclaves on earth. It's basic pattern recognition. We could stumble around trying to be absolutely fair or accept reality even if it's at the cost of being totally accurate all the time.

death metal gets unfairly seen as 'dumb' imo. It doesn't have the same level of artfag built in as bm but the music speaks for itself. A basic death metal band puts more thought into its composition than the basic run of the mill shit from any other genre that doesn't exist to be 'smart' in the first place

The main distinction between Blind Guardian albums is that their earlier albums are much more speed metal based, whereas their newer stuff incorporates more symphonic/progressive elements (though it does still heavily focus on the Power Metal aspects, speed included). I personally favour the middle of their discography, though, which encompasses Nightfall. If you're planning on listening to more of them, I'd suggest going with Imaginations from the other side first.

for recommendations (ones that have yet to be mentioned)- Judicator, Persuader, Hibria, Gloryhammer, and timeless miracle.

As a warning, you'll have to be able to live with the cheesiness that this genre will bring upon you.

I fucking love monkey man in wicked innocence
>>
would it be fair to say that most people who don't at least like Cannibal Corpse are newbs who got into death metal after 2010 and had their tastes spelled out for them by bloggers? Does anyone old not at least appreciate them, if not particularly love them?

I've always thought they were a meme band.
Their newest album is very solid though

ARE SLOWLY TORMENTING YOUR MIIIIIINNNDD
>>
>>61877154
I'd say the opposite, most of the people who think they're the best at anything in the genre haven't explored it enough. Now maybe if you're one of those faggots who can only listen to super fast tech death or can only handle death metal when it's extremely melodic would you be making a point, but for the most part Cannibal Corpse are very very average.
>>
>>61877195

>I've always thought they were a meme band.

yeah that's kind of what I mean. I haven't seen one good reason why they aren't great beyond 'LOL LE MAYMAY BAND FROM 90s I MEAN CURRENT YEAR LOL'
>>
>>61877154
I Only know them for the song I Cum Blood
>>
>>61877273

yeah I'm not arguing they're some unsung masters, they're literally the AC/DC of dm and that's fine. I just see a lot of people trashing them as a bad band who don't know what the fuck they're talking about
>>
>>61877394
Their stuff with Barnes was decent but everything they've done with Corpsegrinder has been underwhelming to terrible. I'm not blaming this solely on him, but in general they became shit without Barnes.
But Barnes' post Cannibal Corpse stuff JUST
>>

I'd advise you go back and listen to it all again, some of it is excellent. Their last couple in particular have really pulled the quality up
>>
Guys, I think i like this but i cant listen without feeling like a pseudo-progwank pleb.

Not for me, I listened to A Skeletal Domain around the time it came out and wasn't impressed. I'm a fan of old school and raw death metal

i have been nodding thoughtfully along to half heard conversations and i really hope they were not important

it helps to repeat at least one word that was probably vital to their point back to them but you need to hear that one word
