Arcana XXII are Namibian, but aside from south africa which has a couple mediocre-to-decent acts (Verkrag is probably the best and it's more curiosity than anything) i come up blank. i think there's a malagasy power metal band but i have... low expectations for that.

Jordan has Bilocate, who are melodic death/doom in the vein of Enshine.

Turkey's BDM scene is stronger than you'd think. Which is to say, there's 4 well-known bands (carnophage, cenotaph, decaying purity, decimation) and basically a bunch of local acts. Carnophage are very good though and pretty melodic and riffy for BDM.

the really distant and emotionless feeling of the songs only adds to the oddness. it's not the sloppy, naive weirdness i expect, it's very deliberate and meticulous. i get an incredibly sinister, evil feeling from it for the same reason that some of those found footage-type youtube videos creep me out, because i know it's communicating something but it's just very subtle. and that subtlety sometimes has more impact than a band coming out and choking me with crazy angular riffs like gorguts or whatever.
