i love this album but the album cover is hard to take seriously
Anyone know of anything else like Destrage's The King is Fat N' Old? Prefer it over Are You Kidding Me? No, feel its less scattered and more heavy.
ok, ur cute but I'd be afraid of being stung
no, you downloaded this image from fourchan
i can't judge if youre cute when I can't see ur face
marry me pls
black metal is my life and im necrokvlt as fuck
any hot bitches wanna slide on my 12 inch cawk?
How can one band be so based?
More nice sludgy hardcore like this
>OOOOOOOOOOOOOH, STILL WE RIIIIIIIIIDE, FIIIIIIIIIIIGHT, AND DIIIIIIEEEEEE
I hope for your own sake that you haven't been sleeping on this
It's finally here! Pardon the poor photo.
lol no its Slugdge. They released their first 3 albums together. Here is a better picture from their facebook. They actually sold out already.
i think people are just surprised that they're good and not a pure gimmick
they're going for a more atmospheric angle apparently, the single was ok even if the bass mix was odd
great job guys
>...I would never blame the metal community since this is mainly American men. An occasional Eastern European, but that's it. The rest of the world do not behave like these monkeys, even if they hated me
>writing an article white-knighting for a woman you don't even know
just bought this shirt. thought yall should see it
sweet! im stoked
>tfw I always fall asleep before the long ambient track
The negative response is partially because we have a subconscious bias against women, but it's primarily because she's a bourgeois indie shithead and her music sucks (same reason we hate all hipster BM). If she weren't a woman then she would just get hated the regular amount.
>yfw someone says metal is for children
>Complaining about harassment
>Participating in social media drama
>Boasting about moral superiority because she decided not to dox the trolls
these are all nonmetal as fuck
>writer holding the fucking black metal symposium up as an example of great metal culture
we are really going down the shitter, aren't we
Yeah, Syu is a way better guitarist than Yngnie even though Yngwie is probably one of his biggest influences.
Most people really don't care, and Galneryus has very wide appeal. It's not like they're a weird band that does bizarre jrock tracks or something.
Holy literal shit, legit AOTY candidate. Probably the best 2010s thrash album I've ever heard, including anything done by Vektor.
>Mutant - Pleiades
>Progressive Technical Thrash Metal with some dark ambient
Pic related got death threats from the second wave Norwegians back in the day
>moves to Texas
>can't write good riffs
> "It's better to have a knife you don't need than to not have one when you need it"
Guys, I'm looking for an awesome depressive black metal album from thr band I can't remember. They were from the USA and this album was released in 2012-2014, I'm not sure. There were fishes on the cover which was generally speaking colorful. Please help me.
Could you recommend me more bands like pic related.
Venom and Motorhead are a granted.
Dystopia are gods
Sea of Deprivation
Corrupted EPs and splits
Full Blown AIDS
My favorite kind of sludge.
The one at the end of Benedictine Convulsions is pretty goddamn amazing.
>ruins the flow
Then you've heard nothing but bad breakdowns, A good berakdown either feels natural or is so unexpected and out of left field the adrenaline from it almost gives you a heart attack.
There are good breakdowns. It's not just breecore bullshit. For example, the breakdown (the part after the bass doodling) in this Cryptopsy song is god-tier.
3:50 is legendary
Same, though still the less breakdowns per album, the more powerful they feel when they do hit, deathcore breakdowns are just so fucking weak when there are at minimum 2 per song
>I can feel it coming in the air tonight,
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT
>for all my life,
What songs would you like to hear covered by metal musicians? Name specifics, or genres, or just a song you want to be heavy as fuck
I've wanted Cobalt to cover a bunch of folksy stuff like The Decemberists' The Rake's Song or The Mountain Goats' No Children
I want to hear math rock (the kind that's devoid of any significant core influence) with heavy as fuck guitar tones because I'm not really sure if the result would be amazing or horrible.
I'm not familiar with them, but the few seconds of what I heard sound pretty close to what I'm asking for. I'd prefer something more melodic though. Something like this, but just with metal guitar tones.
What will the next big metal microgenre be?
war metal and caverncore have also had great releases. Acts like Revenge most recently for War Metal and honestly I'm not too keen on caverncore but I don't write it off entirely as a genre.
Because that'd be idiotic. There are people who regularly write off metal as 'just noise'. And those people are wrong. Just like this asshole coming in, insulting entire subgenres of metal, most likely because he doesn't listen to them himself and therefore they're bad right? That's how that works. Sure.
>war metal and caverncore
These aren't genres; they are stylistic choices and it's totally valid to dislike them. Honestly, it's valid to write off entire subgenres if it's in something you will probably never enjoy.
Where do you guys find so much time for music?
I have a job, college, a girlfriend, friends and other hobbies besides this and I just don't have time to explore music as much as you guys do
it's valid to personally dislike them but not to declare them shit entirely and if anyone does like them they are shit which is what he did
im not gonna get into the semantics of what is and is not a genre/microgenre with you it's pointless and you're probably right about caverncore anyway
>declare them shit entirely and if anyone does like them they are shit which is what he did
You're reading too much into it. He's not personally insulting anyone who likes caverncore. He just said that there isn't a good album in that style.
Single, living at home, NEET. Music is about all that keeps me going, excuse the melodrama. Plus I live on a farm so I can listen whenever I'm working on something to take my mind off it.
Ok guys. I'm after slow and mid-tempo atmoshit bm in the vein of Manii or Darkspace, and finding anything I actually like is somehow proving harder than I thought. Any recommendations off the top of your heads?
in any of the genres mentioned and deriding those scenes. He's not saying he didn't like those genres or any albums out of them, he's just saying they're terrible; stating his own opinion as fact. Sure, maybe I'm reading too much into this, but you know as well as I do that using greentext like he did is insulting as fuck. You don't put shit like that in greentext unless you're looking down your nose at someone, or in this case entire subgenres/styles.
Anyone else ever get that feel where you remember how much you love metal and how much incredibly awesome metal there is to discover and rediscover
I still feel like there are new things to find in all the entry level albums I've loved for years, and there are hundreds of great bands I've barely even checked out yet
goddamn I love meal
it's 4chan. Of course I'm going to take it personally. Also I just gave him the old wew lad and thought that would be the end of it. Then two dudes got all "mweh". And then you continued, and now we're here.
i feel exactly the same. i like all kinds of music but metal has always been at the top of my interests.
just finished this and i feel like a puddle of maple syrup.
Patch jacket not shown
Mgla for AOTY
Agrimonia for GOAT
will there ever be a thing half as based?
I hear that sentiment a lot online, I don't get how you can't love the fuck out of KOTJ when it's essentially a scuzzier, faster Stooges album
Maybe this is more your thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCeJt1u9PLA
took me a while, but kek
*slams paw on the desk* what did you just say?!!!? *unsheathes wakisaki* you've furced me to do this...... TAKE THIS!! *appears behind you* DEMON...... EDGE!!! *cuts you in half* you earned this friend, nothin pawrsonal........ *teleports away*
Okay, so we have gotten way off topic, this is a board about METAL, and we need to treat it as such. We are not SAVAGES.
So HORRENDOUS definitely had one of the DM AOTY.
I have yet to run into a person who has ever even heard of this album let alone listened to it. Pretty damn good doom metal album if you don't mind the lengthy tracks, anyone else ever listened to it?
We have a PRO-HORRENDOUS Anon here who has chosen to speak.
Here is the album this ANON is referring to, MY DYING BRIDE's TURN LOOSE THE SWANS
I am listening to it now, although I personally DO NOT care for MDB generally. I have not listened to this one, though.
What /METAL/ are you LISTENING to now?
Post YOUTUBE LINKS if available please.
This is by far the worst album art pantera has. Pantera is a really good band but even their good albums have shit artwork
MEMES anon; only MEMES. To give you HOPE and a reason to LIVE.
The ORIGINAL artwork of FAR BEYOND DRIVEN was apparently supposed to be a WOMEN (MEME) getting fucked in the ASS. But they changed it for LEGAL reasons.
>never got the hate for fallujah's album mixing, thought it was a little plastic sounding but otherwise fine
>but i've been listening with cheap earbuds and shit
>get gifted a pair of sennheisers over the holiday season
>decide to listen to fallujah with my new headphones
holy fuck why the hell
>all these /lolg/ refugees on my board
The CAPS thing you mean? I am using it to be seen as distinct. Also I kind of LIKE it.
So MEME, to answer your question.
I can't say I hear the METALCORE in it myself, but it definitely didn't sound like what I USUALLY associate DM with, admittedly.
Any thoughts on your own DM AOTY?
Hello /metal/ I just wanted to thank you. A few days ago I was here asking for some suggestions on bands similar to Falkenbach, you told me to try out Rivendell. Holy shit I love them. Thank you for introducing me to this band.
Some songs I really like so far:
The Fall Of Gil-Galad
Thank you again
Like I understand having controversial art work can be a good business move, "no publicity is bad publicity" basically. I think really vulgar album art can still be really good like the cover for Christ illusion by slayer, but just having anal sex as the cover is plain retarded, it sounds like something some edgy 12 year old would think up.
A 12 year old or PHIL ANSELMO. But still PANTERA remains a decent band. What suprises me is how into more EXTREME metal and music ANSELMO is; PANTERA is pretty ENTRY-LEVEL stuff.
Maybe metalcore was the wrong comparison. But it's definitely something I'd like better if I was 15 and still listening to CoB/Black Dahlia kinda shit. A bit too consonant and bouncy for my taste.
I don't have a DM AOTY, sorry brohab.
Not necessarily across the board though. Cowboys from hell is definitely entry level but a song like suicide note part 2 would scare most people. Hell probably fucking hostile would too, but to a lesser extent
STOP TALKING TO ME IM ANONYMOUS HERE NOONE KNOWS WHO I AM
nazz you probably got that image from me i post that all the time
I DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE
STOP TALKING TO ME
back the fuck of?!??!?!?
I don't know, some spergs were arguing whether or not Varg thought the ancient Chinese, Egyptians, etc. were whities. Either no one really produced any definitive proof or I just missed it.
does it really matter if they are or not?
anyway r8 this album guys
the box of huggies just raises more questions than it answers
Hey senpai can y'all help me fill out my folder of these?
I'M JUST HANGIN' AROUND TONIGHT
JUST WATCHIN' FILMS
I'm listening to the song Mothra by Godflesh and I decided to take a look at the lyrics.
>Your pain has no credential here
It's just a shadow of my wound
>If you wish to conquer pain
You must learn to serve it well
Serve it well
>Your pain has no credential here
It's just a shadow of the wound
What does that have to do with the toho monster?
is there any obscure BDM that /metal/ doesn't talk about much i should check out?
>is there any obscure *insert subgenre here* that /metal/ doesn't talk about much i should check out?
a ton, and that goes for every single subgenre. this general needs to get its shit together and go beyond suggesting the same 5 bands for every style
well i knew there was a 99% chance that was the case.
for indonesian stuff i'd suggest:
Asphyxiate - Self Transform From Decayed Flesh
Humiliation - Savior of Human Destruction
Perverted Dexterity - Primitive Scene of Inhumanity
the first and last of those are more Brodequin/Enmity stuff, Humiliation has weird folk influence and awesome drumming
pls dont judge i like death and screamo music im kind of wierd xD
yeah, Eternal Madness do something similar. i don't like their execution as much but this intro is awesome, almost mithras-y
oh, and if you want non-indonesian BDM recs:
Lecherous Nocturne are a band I've been very into recently. If you like Crimson Massacre, Deeds of Flesh, and the other frantic tech death I like, you'll be into it.
Disentomb are good, they use some pretty atypical melodies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abZUdyG5NgI - love the drumwork on this album
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNVBeepcznw - generic but very good
thanks, i'm really trying to get into this kind of foreign death metal, specially BDM, this helps immensely
anything of worth coming from Botswana, or Africa in general for that matter?
remember when this was spammed?
no idea though, for botswana. africa as a whole?
Arcana XXII are Namibian, but aside from south africa which has a couple mediocre-to-decent acts (Verkrag is probably the best and it's more curiosity than anything) i come up blank. i think there's a malagasy power metal band but i have... low expectations for that.
north africa is a bit more fertile,
https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/brood_of_hatred/skinless_agony/ is a solid album with some slightly weird ulcerate-y touches. only other thing from tunisia i know is Myrath, who are basically symphony x with exotic window dressing and therefore shit
look i'll admit that BDM is more homogenous than most metal genres but your judgement of it is really premature going off what you know about it. it's a bit arrogant of you to think an entire genre is worth dismissing after only listening to second-rate generic modern bands
Egypt have Scarab who are, unsurprisingly, a Nile clone.
oh, Vielikan are Tunisian, i thought they were turkish. they're honestly pretty cool, check em out.
Jordan has Bilocate, who are melodic death/doom in the vein of Enshine.
Turkey's BDM scene is stronger than you'd think. Which is to say, there's 4 well-known bands (carnophage, cenotaph, decaying purity, decimation) and basically a bunch of local acts. Carnophage are very good though and pretty melodic and riffy for BDM.
yee i know Wrust, vintage meme right there
Crackdust are pretty similar to them but i never really got into none of them
ATM i'm really just trying to branch out into weirder obscure death metal, one of my favorite genres but that's because i happen to love the essentials so much
what was that really weird album you posted a while, some avant-death shit where the cover was almost completely red?
>what was that really weird album you posted a while, some avant-death shit where the cover was almost completely red?
that could be a lot of things
i don't want to distract you from keeping up with recent releases :>
my usual suggestions are:
Embryonic Devourment - Fear of Reality Exceeds Fantasy
Wormed - Exodromos
Mindly Rotten - The Most Exquisite Agonies
Humanity Falls - Ordaining the Apocalypse
Defilementory - The Dismal Ascension
Infested - 1000 Doors
Lecherous Nocturne - The Age of Miracles Has Passed
Skeleton of God - Urine Garden
Jenovavirus - demo
Dominion - Born God And Aware
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Malignancy - Inhuman Grotesqueries (if you want to hear pinch harmonics for a half hour)
Posthumous Blasphemer - Fracture the Worship
Am I the only person that still listens to this album?
i saw your review, but how? the songwriting is very unpredictable and erratic, the clean guitars clash with the distorted ones in such a weird way, it's totally atonal but you have a eerily melodic line in Throbbing Shadow (which also has a noise intro)... it's not normal death metal in any way.
I didn't say it wasn't weird, I just think it's also extremely ignorable. It's like watching a a schizophrenic softly mumble to himself for 10 minutes. Sure, it's unsettling an weird, but it's also really easy to move on from. For me, when I want someone weird, generally I want it to blow me away.
brainstorm are pretty fucked yeah, and so is stuff like infamia. idk why the ritual suicide demo is more interesting to me. i mean i like brainstorm, infamia, hospice, etc. but...
the really distant and emotionless feeling of the songs only adds to the oddness. it's not the sloppy, naive weirdness i expect, it's very deliberate and meticulous. i get an incredibly sinister, evil feeling from it for the same reason that some of those found footage-type youtube videos creep me out, because i know it's communicating something but it's just very subtle. and that subtlety sometimes has more impact than a band coming out and choking me with crazy angular riffs like gorguts or whatever.
Dear lord TYAG gets no love, if they came out today people would be all over that shit. Willowtip put out one of their releases didn't they? Either way, anyone looking for tech anything should start with willowtip. Consistently good label, even if they support some more mainstream stuff.
Mmmm forget if they're actually from north Africa but viscera trail? One of my faves. https://youtu.be/RwPqXULXFFU
Unreal natural vox.
Also offal stench, though they may be european. https://youtu.be/EAc60O5Td04
