This is objectively the best Swans album. Prove me wrong.
Protip: You can't.

their discography covers so much ground, genre wise, that it's impossible to compare it. Juvenile, even.
If we're going to play that game, then pic related...hands down. But TGA is excellent, and pretty accessible (Which isn't a bad thing at all)
>>72835610
Soundtracks is too long-winded.
>>72835674
true, it's not exactly great for casual listening. But man, it's so great for road-trips.
Is he ever coming back?
nigga he's *dead*
Answer me!
He's working on something with his brother i think

is totally the other way around
it'll be back in 15-20 yrs when the youngster rediscover it for all sorts of ironic uses
Since mp3's are out of licensing and now a legacy codec, should the opus codec take over? A 128kb/s .opus song literally sounds exactly the same as a 320kb/s mp3. It also has the same frequency response in a spectrum analyzer.
It is open source and takes up less HD space/bandwidth. I see nothing wrong with adopting this format.

What do you think /mu/ ?

Everything is AAC now
you are much more versed in the subject than i am why are you asking me lmao
>>72834862
I still see .mp3's as the dominant format, I have only one album in AAC. As far as I can tell, opus is far better at the frequency response/file size ratio. AAC is very much like variable rate mp3's.
Boy oh fuckin boy its a sharethread

>Rush-Hemispheres, flac (900ish kbps), 1978 progressive rock, arguably one of the best and most influential albums these Canadians put out. Dad-core.

The Del remix of Good Times is actually part of the single for the track, but it's too good not to link/put on the album

>Poptimists argued, once, that the disposal and the shiny were as valuable as the self-consciously worthy. They argued that the single was as worthwhile as the album. They insisted that unquestioning reverence for a style of music - reverence that was adopted just because that was the way things were, rather than because of any inherent worth in the music - was unjustified
>Now, though, pop occupies the space that, for many years, rock had colonised: the one in which, in the critic Douglas Wolk's words, rock was "normative", in other words, "rock is the standard state of popular music: the kind to which everything is compared, explicitly or implicitly". That's now the case with pop, and other non-rock genres, such as R&B and hip-hop.

Thoughts?
i'm glad music journalism is dying

>>72834401
Read this the other day, dude's right.
>>72834401
Not going to read that, but I'd say it's now worse than rockism. At least rockism focuses mostly on the music, a lot of poptimist journalism focuses on outside factors like the message or the societal relevance more than what the actual content of a record or single is.

When did you grow out of being a contrarian and realise that Queen actually were pretty good all along?
Queen is only pretty good early on, even though they had some great songs later on.
They have like 3 decent songs, you're the contrarian
They're decent. Nothing horrible, nothing incredible. Bohemian Rhapsody is a good song.
Freddie had a great stage presence; that's about the only thing that makes them special. He also furthered public perception of homosexuals, and brought attention to AIDS.
So yeah. Freddie was a cool dude, but Queen is basically just run of the mill dad rock.
