Is Grunge just progressive punk?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Grunge is regular alternative rock that focuses on the whole "loud vs. soft" variation within a given track. The progressive punk label may fit a band like Cardiacs, I think.
>>
What's Progressive about it? The heavier, more complex side of it is far more indebted to Classic Rock and early Metal than to Punk, and the more Punk side is for the most part very simple. Like >>74106409 says, Cardiacs and their ilk more readily fit the Prog Punk banner.
>>
>>74106409
They also give out a lot of distortion and fuzz in from the guitar, there is sometimes fast and changing pinky riffs(like nirvana) while there is also more classic rock chords progressions with more traditional rock soloing( like Pearl Jam)

Apparently you didn't listen to her music. How the fuck songs like Colour of Moonlight, Be a Body, Dream Fortress, Venus Fly, Flesh Without Blood, Kill V. Maim, even Go to name a few have basic programming? If her programming is that basic how come no one else did it before?

When do you guys find the time to listen to long-ass albums like pic related, for example? I've been trying to get through this thing for a few months but can never find 2 1/2 hours to listen all the way through.

pretty easy. instead of watching a movie. i can just listen to it.
or go for a walk
>>
Depends if the album really grabs you. I have no problem listening to the Seer all the way through, but Soundtracks always kinda lulled for me. Listen to Die Tur Ist Zu instead. Its some of the best cuts off Soundtracks and Gira's singing in German which I think really complements the music. Good stuff.
