Reminder that if an artist you like isn't on record talking shit about other artists then they are a corporate PR/image automaton and not a true artist
A true artist isn't afraid to express all emotions/feelings/thoughts while a corporate persona avoids anything that might look remotely negative
>>74426598
I don't listen to degenerate memerap so childish ''beefs'' aren't relevant.
>>74426598
Does this make Morrissey the GOAT?
If your favorite artist is "on record", they are already a corporate tool
What are some good metal bands in the same vain as Evergrey and Opeth?
Concept metal prog albums are a huge +++++++
>>74426526
Not sure what you mean
Check Symphony X or In Mourning
>>74426687
Evergrey and Opeth have a certain sound to them that is similar; they don't stick to the usual metal tropes. A large part of this is because they're prog metal.
Just looking for something similar. Where they go from a hard metal sequence straight into a smooth jazz or piano rendition.
Shit like that.

I assume you're familiar with Opeth, so listen to the above Evergrey song to get an idea of what I mean when I say that I am looking for bands in the same "vain."
I tried Dark Tranquility, and I do like a few of their tracks, but overall they seemed to be a lot more amateur.
>>74426732
Dark Tranquillity is not prog at all, you might try Edge of Sanity, Ne Obliviscaris or Persefone
So retarded at life I can't even make this shit after 4 years of trying

that is pretty bad. smokepurrp is some of the worst music I've ever heard.
Hey /mu/, I'm having some trouble you guys could really help me out with. My father died unexpectedly a few days ago and the family is preparing the funeral. We're a bit stuck on the music part of things, mainly during when people enter, the communion and when people exit.
It'd need to be sober, soothing, not demanding of attention, downplayed in rhythm, sounds and possible vocals (maybe instrumental is more appropriate). About 10-20 minutes each, just as fitting background music. As somebody who listens mostly to funk, psychedelics and jazz I'm having a very hard time finding appropriate songs here.
It would be a big help if you guys had some good suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Just get some Stars of the Lid albums
>sober
>soothing
>not demanding of attention
>downplayed in rhythm
>vocals
>10 minutes
this ticks all your boxes mate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GhaVPinjXI
OP here, would prefer mostly instrumental and "traditional" stuff. It's a classic church burial, anything with a beat or high concept stuff won't be appropriate.
I'll start.
>BABYMETAL

>>74426465
> haha I said babymetal were good xD that'll make those meanie metal elitists SOOOOOOOOOO mad!
>>74426991
no that means that even metal made for babies is light years ahead of hip hop and r&b in terms of quality and complexity

why the best genres have the most pretentious names?

Like my mans Terrance McKenna said, you need to take 5 grams in silent darkness for anything worthwhile to happen.

>I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving
>England is my city, it owes me a living
Shit, I thought he was from manchester
>>74426067
Has he gained some weight?
>>74426067
The funny thing is that Morrissey did just that, he quit his job and claimed unemployment benefits. He mostly used the money to go to concerts.
>>74426067
England is a fucking country though
Post good EP's, or overlooked/underrated/etc. I'll start.
Chunk of Change is 1 part "what the fuck is going on here" and 2 parts brilliant. Like, Angelakos is sampling shit like sports whistles and sounds of crickets, and his harmonies are nutty and fun, and the kinda basic loop-type vibe is great. It reminds me of a more jolly Dntel or Postal Service. Cool shit.
