"The reason why I can safely say that Radiohead are The Beatles of our generation is because, much like the Fab Four, they represent and portray a natural musical progression. From their Brit-pop roots to their later electronica-influenced soundscapes, Radiohead were always concerned with musical growth and maturation. As a 13 year old relying on MTV to deliver to me the optimal selection of music out there, finding Radiohead, and seeing their evolution, was imperative to getting me to expand my tastes and listen to good music. The Bends introduced me to rock. OK Computer taught me how music wasn't all just processed immediacy and led me into further exploration. Kid A taught me how to listen to music as an art form. At all of the turning points of my musical listening experiences, Radiohead were there and helped me progress and mature musically. They're essentially the perfect band to grow up with and, like The Beatles, their timeless albums will continue to convert new fans and astound critics for decades to come, which is the most any band can hope to accomplish."

why does /mu/ swing back and forth between gushing over mainstream music (kpop, grimes, kanye) and trying to one up each other with the most obscure bands possible? (I won't even attempt to name examples)
surely there must be middle ground, or is everyone on /mu/ either teenage or a neckbeard

"The double album Exile On Main Street (Rolling Stones, 1972) completes the maturation. Abandoning all pretenses and concentrating only on their infernal nature, the Stones deliver on the concept of sexual obsession. The songs are luxuriously bacchanalian, syncopated and droll, but the album is self-referential, a sort of museum of the styles absorbed by the Stones sound."

I always though Rolling Stones were boring dad rock but fuck. I've been been listening to nothing but Rock Off for the last few hours. Please help me I want to stop.

Their Bon Scott years were incredible. Down Payment Blues is GOAT-tier hard-rock song
>>74631097
Dadrock, I like them for their hits. Big Balls, Back in Black, that kind of stuff. Never got into their other material
AC/DC are one of the greatest heavy-metal bands of all times, and one of the most authentic acts of rock'n'roll. They embody the wild, rebellious quintessence of rock music like few other bands before punk-rock. They were the opposite of the intellectual singer-songwriter or the brainy progressive-rock or the decadent glam-rock of the 1970s: they were not the brain and not the heart but the guts of rock and roll. Rolling Stone Magazine gave a "zero" to several of their albums: the greatest compliment ever paid to them.
>band has more than 5 members
>half of them are actually playing

not the same ratio, but liam and the dancing autists deserve an honorable mention
Kid A
One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. This might just be nostalgia talking but the Kingdom Hearts franchise is something special soundtrack-wise. Does anyone else feel this way, too? Goddamn I love KH.
Recently replayed KH after like 10 years.
Nothing in the game really hit me, but whenever I hear Simple and Clean, it hits hard.

The soundtrack is pretty solid. The KH series has some surprisingly punchy moments for such a silly concept, all thanks to the soundtrack.

It's mostly the softer tracks like Dearly Beloved and Simple & Clean that hit me hard, but some of the more orchestral ones like Hollow Bastion and Sora's Sacrifice can also truly be eye-opening. Hell, even some of the more pumped-up battle music's great as well.
