Just me? Okay :(

I like Mouth Moods, Mouth Silence and Mouth Sounds a lot. Not a huge fan of his Lemon Demon stuff.
>>74638289
I think he has the capacity to be very very good, but often leans to heavily on the comedic/novelty side at the expense of the overall quality of the song. He does have some great songs tho. The first (non-Spirit Phone) cut of Eighth Wonder is fantastic and Spirit Phone in general is a solid B-.

I stll need to give his Lemon Demon stuff a try, but I love the Mouth albums.

Police sirens, for when I'm driving around late at night.
How did one man do absolutely nothing but wank on his guitar for his whole career?
Why do people call themselves music fans when they hate the actual "music" part of music?
>>74638204
Wanking is not music. Anyone with 30 minutes of guitar experience can wank but i wouldn't consider them a musician.
>>74638231
It's actually the purest form of music, and filters plebs.

An artist has to make a decision do I want to be rich and famous or do I want to make good music. people arent choosing the latter lately
or maybe you just haven't found them yet? it;s eaier to notice the popular largest denominator bands than the small obscure more focused ones
>>74637979

I can't get into KKB. I'm fine with happy music, but the entire thing feels so manufactured to me. Is that part of the point, like with PC Music?

I was never really interested in jazz music until I actually started learning jazz, because I eventually understood what was going on harmonically and functionally.
I just always assumed that non jazz musicians would find jazz boring, but it seems like that is not the case.
It seems that non jazz musicians don't enjoy straight ahead bop (where the pieces are all based around improvisation over a set of chord changes) but seem to really enjoy the more progressive jazz albums such as the one pictured, Bitches Brew, Charles Mingus albums.
If any of you want to explain your mindset when listening to these albums and what makes you enjoy them, I would really appreciate it. This is something I've been wondering for some time now.
its mood music. Different jazz pieces/albums can fit my mood.
You either enjoy it or you don't. Stop trying to find a way to enjoy it if you just plain don't like it.
it just sounds good man
although I have no idea what the fuck is going on

Listening to June of 44 right now. What are the major math rock bands I'm missing out on? My only other contact with the genre is Slint and Rodan.
Also, explain one (1) way math rock is different from prog rock.

>>74637530
Don Caballero is the obvious rec, but also You Slut! and Battles; and if you're in for some heavier stuff, The Fall of Troy and Bats.
Anyhow, math rock and prog rock come from different places. Prog rock comes from psychodelic rock, while math rock comes from post-hardcore. Prog rock tends to be a lot less dissonant, longer, less agressive, and trippier; math rock is more agressive, shorter, very dissonant (at times bordering on noise rock) and a lot less trippier. Prog rock can have songs that last for 20 minutes; while math rock will hardly ever go beyond 10, and those are the exception.
Another thing - there's a heavy emphasis on polyrhythms on math rock, while prog rock tends to work a lot more on odd time signatures, but not necessarily in a polyrhythmic fashion.
>>74637530
Math rock is "relatively normal rock" with a focus on odd rhythms (not necessarily odd time signatures, but usually that) while prog rock uses a rock context to write sweeping multi-part epics that might happen to include odd meters.
Here's a variety of songs:

I wish I was back in 1981.
What is the best album from 2018?
What's with the sudden jacking off over records the past few years? They're lower audio quality in every fucking way.
What's next, 8-tracks?
>lower quality
get a load of this guy and his <10k setup
In all seriousness, the reason people like records is the same reason people like steelbooks or things like that. They like owning physical media. Cassettes sound poor, CDs are redundant, and records are the only other option that can sound good and have some merit in ownership.
