Plus, Subete had made defeating Akira his sole purpose in life after their conflict earlier in the series. So yeah, it's not as silly as it sounds when you consider the build up. Maybe. For all we know DGG #4 has been repurposed into a puppy-kicking and baby-candy-stealing machine.

Since people complained about Z3 and said it was the worst game ever, I decided to replay Z, and find as many faults as I can with it. Here's what I have so far:

-Kapool animations are probably the worst in the game. They probably assumed you'd quickly put Sochie, and Miashei on another grunt later (like the Nemo's).
-Turn A is really underpowered for most of the game. It's beam saber is the finisher for almost the whole thing, and it falls behind pretty had by stage 32.
-A bunch of Turn A pilots are again skipped, and Josef is again forced into a Zaku II.
-EN balance is all over the place. Some untis use way more EN than others, and most of the time the game doesn't have a good excuse for it(more on this later).
-Xabungle's second appearance, and it's plot is already over.
-Battleships all have their uses, but all suffer one flaw or another, some being more severe than others. Iron Gear (WM) has 3 movement, the Glomar never gets a finisher so it's useless outside of it's Leader bonus, Minerva has no will boosting spirits.
-Baldios has 2 more player units, but neither join (one dies, the other just leaves after one scenario).
-The game has a number of enemies with abilities that severely cripple units that can't dodge, but you barely see this in the game outside of a few bosses, so supers don't get an equivalent to the reals dodge penalty bonus.
-Locking certain secrets to route splits has always annoyed me, but Yassaba being locked to Land was pretty stupid, specially when you can get his Overman in both Land, and Setsuko route.
-A number of Gundam units have their legs dangling off as if they're floating/flying, and it just looks awful for most of them.
-Nu has great animations, but a terrible sprite due to the gigantic head, and dangling legs
-Cagalli, and Dearka are not playable, and you never get the Dom Trio from Destiny.
-A Zeta enemy (Jamaican) will disappear from the game if you take a certain route.

Astranagant
A mysterious humanoid mobile weapon that cannot yet exist, though some claim to have glimpsed it. It appears out of nowhere, and is thought to be able to travel not just through space but also through parallel worlds. However, its methods of doing so and power source are unknown. It is assumed to be part of the "Chum Tzelem" series of mobile weapon Euzeth Gozzo was working on in the Ze Balmary Empire, but it is unknown if this unit belongs to the empire. Also, technology from Earth's (the surface world) and the underground world of Ra Gias is also used in it, as it has a T-Link System, a sword that uses Zol Orihalconium, and remote attack weapons called familiars. However, its association if any with the SRX and Masoukishin is unknown.

So the "new 3D animation" they talked about in BX was in reference to a sort of rendering program they designed and used for BX. It essentially just renders the sprite differently depending on what is necessary. If the sprite gets close to the screen, it renders the sprite in full, which is why it looks so crisp. If the sprite is, say, in the status menu, it will do something like a "streamline" render that simplifies the sprite so that it can still be read as the unit it is supposed to be, even with all of its compression. It's why certain sprites, like the Unicorn, are sorta these blurry forms in their status screen.
