Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Third kit I've actually done more than just snapfit with. I know it's pretty shitty but it's a small improvement over what I was doing before so I was happy. I'm noticing a few details I fucked up on while I'm posting so just lessons for next time.

Thanks! As far as making them I took a drill bit to it. After I drilled the holes I made a couple of "long" cuts outwards from the hole. For the parts between the longer cuts I sort of just took the hobby knife to them and made them all gnarled. After that I painted as normal and drybrushed some darker brown paint for the "burns".

while I haven't used Gundam markers, I do have a silver marker. Used it for the relief designs on the kshatriya. Looks nice, but it can rub off easily, so put a top coat on once you're done.

Silver gundam marker is shit, even for small details.
You're better off with a metallic silver sharpie.
Make sure you topcoat that shit though.

I've used the silver metallic marker to do various touch ups like blades, thruster parts, and behind visors on GMs primarily and have had no problems with it so far, whether I have topcoated the kit or not. here's a pic of my zaku amazing that, I have plans to flat coat but have put it off/been shit weather and the silver i put on the blades has held up fine, even when storing and removing the knives from the holders on the backpack.

The kit heavily reuses the runners from the HGUC Kampfer and those parts just happened to be in areas of the runner they couldn't remove so they wind up as leftover parts. Having leftover parts on HG is fairly common as most modern kits share runners with another one.

Should I get the 1/144 Gusion or wait for the 1/100? I think I might want to pic the Rebake up sometime ( I like it from the waist up) not sure which I want in which size.

What are the little black stickers for? Everything else seems like something that could easily be painted.

I'd like to avoid sticker shock maybe I'll get the Rebake in 1/100 can always swap the armor if I want.

The Rebake legs just kill me. I get the new knee armor would protect the knee better, but it looks strange and those feet look like someone made them bigger just so the models would be able to stand up.

Re/100 Nightingale owners: How the fuck do you get the front skirts to snap in? I've tried putting a ton of pressure on it, but the fucking things refuse to fit in. It looks like the polycap used to connect the front skirts to the waist is simply too small for it to fit into the ball.

Tangential, but now that I think about it, Freedom's getting a 2.0 MG even though it doesn't have any variants. I'm not sure if Strike Freedom could use its frame or not, but even a new Kampfer mould would allow for two currently-existing suits (base and Amazing).
Then again, we haven't seen MGs for X Maoh, X Divider, or even Exia R3, all of which would need relatively simple retooling.

It was an old electric candle from halloween. It originally flickered like a flame, but the slot for that lost its copper ring, so now its a solid light orange glow. Ran fiber optics in the base for smaller points of light (Not visible in op pic). The lighting in the thrusters on the binders, feet, and stand is several shades of blue and white glow paint from glowinc.com. Pic related, as its the general wiring and threading for the stand.

Also, be prepared for a lot of clipping and sanding. Those funnels are a pain, but the end result is satisfying.

Honestly they were pretty damn good for a 15 year old. Temped to buy a RG for shits n giggles. I got such joy out of them but stopped around sophomore year because I thought it was pretty lame.

Off the top of my head...

I've got a Blue Destiny Unit 2 with some parts built, should have all the pieces, in the box. Barely touched. Bought it on preorder, forgot about it, showed up fairly recently.

-HGUC Zaku II, sorta snapfitted together. Main unit is slightly assembled I think.

A GNX that has a candy apple green paint job, that's semi complete. Apple green was a Tamiya spray can. All other parts were coated with flat topcoat. I think it needs another leg and the lower torso to be built.

I want to say some of the Gundam 00 series mechs, and a few other older MGs that were cheapo.

I'll probably throw them on ebay.

I'm a big fan of them as well. I think my BD2 came out pretty nice, but not so much for my BD1 since I got it a lot earlier in my gunpla building days because of how much I like it and foolishly tried to flat coat when it was way too cold outside. After I get through a chunk of my backlog I'll probably order another one to do it justice since the BD1 is my favorite out of all of them.
