***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!
Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

I love the color scheme you've got going on there. They're different enough from each other that they're individuals yet unified enough that you can tell they're part of a single group.
This looks cool and I think the shape of the new Graze's shoulders would work with it pretty well.
I'm afraid that this suit is going to job hard since we've already seen the new Barbatos that uses its' shoulder armor.
Not job as hard as this poor fucker.
>tfw your first appearance is of you jobbing
>tfw you probably won't be getting a gunpla
>finished Gelgoog 2.0, Gundam 3.0 and a Dom since this pic
>just ordered a Gouf 2.0
when do you tell yourself to stop
Third kit I've actually done more than just snapfit with. I know it's pretty shitty but it's a small improvement over what I was doing before so I was happy. I'm noticing a few details I fucked up on while I'm posting so just lessons for next time.
Thanks! As far as making them I took a drill bit to it. After I drilled the holes I made a couple of "long" cuts outwards from the hole. For the parts between the longer cuts I sort of just took the hobby knife to them and made them all gnarled. After that I painted as normal and drybrushed some darker brown paint for the "burns".
Got two of the new FAG released today, just finished one.
The hands are a LOT better now, the legs and torso now have crazy articulation, and they fixed the goddamned grey part on the neck frill thing.
That guy's just being obnoxious. They're absolutely fine. Obviously they shouldn't be used for painting large surfaces, but for small parts or details they do the job great.
while I haven't used Gundam markers, I do have a silver marker. Used it for the relief designs on the kshatriya. Looks nice, but it can rub off easily, so put a top coat on once you're done.
This general covers also other robot plastic models, right?
Could you guys tell me about good Macross Destroids/Dougram kits?
I want to make a totally-not-battletech-IS-lance
Nah, speaking from personal experience here.
Silver gundam marker is shit, even for small details.
You're better off with a metallic silver sharpie.
Make sure you topcoat that shit though.
Preordered these back in september, now just waiting for a resin kit to arrive so everything can ship.
Oh hell thats alotta tanks.
That's the 3rd party one right?
I got the Wave SV001 one and it's kinda shit in comparison to those with the treads being a huge piece of plastic compared to those individual ones.
Didja get the plane too?
from my own personal experience >>13799635 is wrong and >>13799646 is right. I've used the silver metallic marker to do various touch ups like blades, thruster parts, and behind visors on GMs primarily and have had no problems with it so far, whether I have topcoated the kit or not. here's a pic of my zaku amazing that, I have plans to flat coat but have put it off/been shit weather and the silver i put on the blades has held up fine, even when storing and removing the knives from the holders on the backpack.
Waiting for [spoiler[a HGUC Jegan[/spoiler].
>Not gluing the stands on your wall for increased Zero-G fight illusion
any chance of this getting another re release? Or are my chances as dead as the line its part of seems to be.
there are still kits around atleast but i dont know whether i want to pay £70+ for it
Plenty of stickers for a Graze.
Not as bad as Rebake though.
>Mechanicore's 1/100 Deep Striker needs 53 batteries to light everything
hahah what the fuck
I can't tell if the "eyes" are molded or not.
This is the best resolution so far, so is Rebake's.
Could I request a HUGE favour of someone who has both the HG Graze Custom and the HGUC Quebeley Revive?
Could you see if the shoulder binders from the Quebeley fit the Glaze Kai and post a picture of it if so? Like, just the shoulder binders, not the Quebeley arms. It should still use the Glave's arms, but the shoulders should be the Quebeley's.
Thanks if you do.
Graze Kai II
-H: 18.9m(1m more), W:31.2t(3t more).
-It's pink because they found red nanolaminate paint with the Brewers and combined it with their cheap white paint.
-Short Rifle: lower range and accuracy, but ideal for close combat in conjunction with the Battle Axe
-Hyakuren parts added weight but also added more armor.
-The coloring and head nose art are eye catching.
-Teiwaz added connectors for the Kutan
-H:18m(same as Gusion), W:35.1t(9.3t lighter)
-While the original Gusion was a heavy armored high output MS for close combat, the Rebake due to its variable high sensitivity head sensor can play long range support or shorter range combat.
-Backpack has subarms made of diverted Graze arms
-It diverted the rear binder armor of the original Gusion and it can be used as shield, leaving vestiges of its old appearance boating high defensive power.
-An example of the Gundam Frame versatility
-Long Range Rifle: improved by Teiwaz technicians, added scope, huge accuracy improvement
-The sub arms have more or less the same output of the main ones and shoot 120mm Rifles with great accuracy.
-Because the original Gusion was too heavy for under gravity action it was refurbished and regained its versatility. Kudal didn't use AV System but Akihiro will use it to bring about its true potential.
Painting, kitbashing and ignoring the fact that women think you're a creepy pedophile for still playing dolls even though they're not dolls THEY'RE SCALE REPLICA MODELS OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT! SHUT UP MOM!
I don't have any bait images, so have this instead.
>go into hobby store
>see the new Gundam Gunpla model you have to hand chisel yourself into the runners which you then snapfit and hand paint to look just like the real anime version
Who buys toys you have to build yourself? That's dumb. I'm going to Toy'R'Us and buying the Robot Spirit RX-78 Gundam models.
it that hard?
I'm confused, does the new Barbie actually have white chest or is it just prototype color?
Because the last time we got prototype color, they eventually announced THAT was the final color
this looks good because you picked a concept that fit your skill level
keep that in mind going forward and you will always have nice kits
that being said you also have to try new stuff, when you just do the same things over and over you're no longer improving
>Buy the HGBC Kampfer Amazing as my first kit
>Bandai included the original HGUC Kampfer's pauldrons, back thrusters, and spare parts of the chain mine for some reason
>Never watched War in the Pocket, so I thought these were parts I missed when building the Amazing
>I have no idea what to do with these parts now that I know that they're not meant for this kit
Hey guys. I was wondering what kinda airbrush you would recommend for gunpla painting? Paints as well. I am getting into model kits again with a friend and would like to start practicing some.
Can't go wrong with a 3-gal air compressor from Harbor Freight and a Paasche VLS airbrush set.
As to paint, Tamiya brand. Or Citadel brand. Or Vellajo, or Testors. Just pick whatever is available at your local Michaels or FLHS.
A spare parts gundam sounds fun. Thanks for the idea, anon.
Relax anon, it was my first kit and I was super nervous about breaking stuff or doing something wrong. I'll probably switch out the pauldrons eventually.
>for some reason
The kit heavily reuses the runners from the HGUC Kampfer and those parts just happened to be in areas of the runner they couldn't remove so they wind up as leftover parts. Having leftover parts on HG is fairly common as most modern kits share runners with another one.
I got it for $60 shipped from Mandarake a few months ago, so keep looking there.
From anything /m/ related
If I see something I like I'll want to incorporate into a custom or change it to how I like it or with what I want to do.
Just need a little imagination, some skill
I feel like a mistake a lot of people make is they try to be original, just do what you want. Truly original ideas aren't inspired, you just have them.
I should have posted this one instead. Damnit. Lemme redo!
D R U G S
like my frame arms girl, anons?
never post from phones edition
they sure are
Correct me if I'm wrong but the existing MG Kampfer is kinda too old to retool into a new MG as opposed to the 2.0 Gundam.
They'd have to remake the whole Kampfer from scratch to adhere to modern MG standards.
That's not snap-fitting, so you don't get an answer.
Should I get the 1/144 Gusion or wait for the 1/100? I think I might want to pic the Rebake up sometime ( I like it from the waist up) not sure which I want in which size.
Strongly considering picking up the 1/144 Gusion and the 3rd arms pack then shooting the green parts with a black primer and green over the top for a kinda deep green.
I'm on the other side of the boat where I love the gusion but I'm not all that fond of the rebake. It's sorta neat, but the tan doesn't sit well with me. Maybe if it was black, instead.
But I'm a fag that likes giant ass suits like The O or the Devil Gundam, or Xamel, so I dunno.
So this is one of those purples that likes to come out way bluer on some cameras huh
I didn't initially like the original Gusion, but when I thought of it as a turtle instead of a frog and saw the model kit, it grew on me. It's just that I prefer the Rebake
Probably about the same as the HG
Once thing that bothered me about the design is how plain the chest looks when it comes to color separation. I would panel line the vents with some color to make it pop a but more. It's cool, since I think you're the first one to post the Kimaris here though
What are the little black stickers for? Everything else seems like something that could easily be painted.
I'd like to avoid sticker shock maybe I'll get the Rebake in 1/100 can always swap the armor if I want.
The Rebake legs just kill me. I get the new knee armor would protect the knee better, but it looks strange and those feet look like someone made them bigger just so the models would be able to stand up.
>>HGRC G-Self SPACE backpack
Amazon has that thing really cheap as an Add-On item http://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Hobby-G-Reco-Option-Gundam/dp/B00O3RUFP6/
It's still in my backlog right now, but I mainly just wanted the Shield to throw onto the G-Self (Perfect Pack comes with shoulder and sideskirts to build the vanilla one). Just wish I had the Atmosphere Pack, but I don't want to buy another G-Self..
Just finished the Zaku, such a good kit, seams are pretty well hidden as well as a good chunk of the nub spots, only glaring exception is with the forearms. Newest kit I've built and I've gotta say, liking the improvements over old Zaku sets.
That's where I got it!
I wasn't expecting the box for the SPACE pack to be the same size as the G-Self's
I bought the G-Self off of Amazon Warehouse for $9. The box was totally ripped and crumpled, but the contents were fine
I got me some Tamiya files too

And then I've got a deathscythe hell custom and sandrock custom, gundam the end for kitbashing purposes. I wanted to put the end's hands on the devil gundam but I'm currently finishing up a Gusion and working on the rising.
Re/100 Nightingale owners: How the fuck do you get the front skirts to snap in? I've tried putting a ton of pressure on it, but the fucking things refuse to fit in. It looks like the polycap used to connect the front skirts to the waist is simply too small for it to fit into the ball.
HG Quebley revive
HG Zaku II
Frame Arms Rapiere
Frame Arms Lapiel
Got both materias on the way as well as HG Hyaku Shiki. Was working on a naval style GM. (I'm new, yes I'm doing a lot of the basic kits still.)
That's exactly it.
Tangential, but now that I think about it, Freedom's getting a 2.0 MG even though it doesn't have any variants. I'm not sure if Strike Freedom could use its frame or not, but even a new Kampfer mould would allow for two currently-existing suits (base and Amazing).
Then again, we haven't seen MGs for X Maoh, X Divider, or even Exia R3, all of which would need relatively simple retooling.
I wasn't fond of the rebake at first, but the extra arms gimmick is pretty cool.
I love fatties like The O and Nightingale as well, so I'm tempted to go for original Gusion instead of Rebake, especially if Rebake turns out to be a stickerfest like the 1/144.
Not him, but the only boxarts I've ever felt absolutely worthy of saving were from MG Gundam X, MG 00 Quanta, and PG 00 Raiser (the last of which I actually saved the whole box).
I recycle everything else.
The following are MGs.
Char's Gelgoog 2.0
GM Type C Ground version
G3 Gundam 2.0
Zaku F 2.0
NG Barbatos which is likely to be my next kit after I finish the NG Graze.
I have a 78CA I've shelved for the time being that I intend to get back to once I get some putty.
Can't help but to laugh at it a bit, but I agree. HGCE Revive for the Stargazer suits is pretty fucking cool.
>HGIBO Barbatos (actually just needs some flat coat, weathering, and another coat to try to seal things without destroying the weathering)
>HGIBO Chocolate Man Graze
DM Sword Strike
Tamiya Ferrari F60, will be colored in Massa colors
It was an old electric candle from halloween. It originally flickered like a flame, but the slot for that lost its copper ring, so now its a solid light orange glow. Ran fiber optics in the base for smaller points of light (Not visible in op pic). The lighting in the thrusters on the binders, feet, and stand is several shades of blue and white glow paint from glowinc.com. Pic related, as its the general wiring and threading for the stand.
Also, be prepared for a lot of clipping and sanding. Those funnels are a pain, but the end result is satisfying.
Nope, its the official 1/144.
Loved the first one I built so much that I bought one more on the way home.
Ayy some progress on my Quanta's visor.
You'll see the same with most build-out-of-box reviewers like hacchaka, schizophonic, dalong and the like.

Does anyone know whether the HG kits Cherudim+GNHW/R, Arios+GNHW/M and Seravee+GNHW/B, have all the runners of the base kits?
I searched dalong but he doesn't post the full runners of the GNHW kits, google translate suggests that the GNHW kits have the base runners plus one or two extra GNHW runners. Can anyone confirm?
Well there was a FUCKING MASSIVE SNOWSTORM THAT SWAMPED THE EAST COAST IN LIKE 3 FEET OF THE SHIT OR SO.
THEY JUST FINALLY GOT PLOWS THROUGH A FEW HOURS AGO IN BALTIMORE, IT WAS LIKE THE FUCKING TRENCHES OF HOTH OR SOME SHIT BEFORE THAT.
So I'm sorry your packages are delayed, but seriously fuck you and go read about the weather from Saturday.

Got bored, made a meme thing, didn't know where to post it, so here it is.
I hope that's what's holding up my first package, but I have a couple of more days until I can get a full refund from Amazon if it doesn't arrive on time
Based on pics from 2chan I'm going to be filing/sanding off the raised detail on the crotch piece and just painting it black or grey. Looks much better as a uniform color rather than that weird G-string thing they went for.
Alright so lets say I want to level up as a builder. So far I've just snapped a couple kits, obviously I've panel lined them.
What's the next step and how do I do it?
I'm guessing what comes next is hand painting details.
Airbrushing is totally out of question since I don't have either the money nor the place to do that, sadly.

I don't have a backlog either. I hate the idea of having paid for something and not be 'using' it, because it feels like wasted money, so I only buy new kits after finishing my current ones.
yeah same. 1 MG/month is a decent enough pace for me because i only work on them during weekends. i don't paint, but i do line and decal my kits up so topcoats are necessary. also i'd like to keep doing this until the long foreseeable future so i try to keep this pace to avoid running out of kits to build. i mean, bandai doesn't exacly spurt a new MG every month, but older kits still do exist in abundance.
What kind of communist dicksucking milksop doesn't want a MG Dendrobium?
My HGUC Jegan arrived today. Man this kit is super poseable. I would definitely recommend it.
I'd pick the astraea over everything else since it's the most modern of the lot. The zudah is neat but all those verniers and rounded parts will probably look like shit if you don't have any experience.
Howdy Gunpla/Plamo General!
I am my first Gunpla today. I saw Barbatos at my local hobbyshop for 13 dollars and decided why the fuck not. Do I have any skill/hope in this hobby or are the HG Wing Fenice and the RG RX78GP01 truly fucked when they arrive in the mail?
>I am my first Gunpla
>I am Gunpla
Teach us oh Plamor.
In all seriousness, it's a decent first attempt with no noticeably large nubs or similar problems from what I see. Look into panel lining and topcoat, read the guide and please resize future images.

In a few weeks or so. I'm busy with other things.
Honestly they were pretty damn good for a 15 year old. Temped to buy a RG for shits n giggles. I got such joy out of them but stopped around sophomore year because I thought it was pretty lame.
Man, I remember reading Danny Choo's guide on how to build them. Hell, his photos and website was probably one of the coolest things in existence back in 2008-9
Seems like the forums I frequented are dead now too. Wonder what happened.
Hmm, not sure how well that would go down.
>tfw I hope one day my kid will have a mobile suit that I can work on with him/her
Off the top of my head...
I've got a Blue Destiny Unit 2 with some parts built, should have all the pieces, in the box. Barely touched. Bought it on preorder, forgot about it, showed up fairly recently.
-HGUC Zaku II, sorta snapfitted together. Main unit is slightly assembled I think.
A GNX that has a candy apple green paint job, that's semi complete. Apple green was a Tamiya spray can. All other parts were coated with flat topcoat. I think it needs another leg and the lower torso to be built.
I want to say some of the Gundam 00 series mechs, and a few other older MGs that were cheapo.
I'll probably throw them on ebay.
Anyone have a MG GM Ground type they can talk about and show off?
Like, how are the shoulder and hip joints? Will I have to dab a tiny bit of glue to keep them nice and tight?
Also, side note: The blue destiny units are hands down my favorite Gundams ever- They just look aesthetically pleasing and the story is crazy.
I'm a big fan of them as well. I think my BD2 came out pretty nice, but not so much for my BD1 since I got it a lot earlier in my gunpla building days because of how much I like it and foolishly tried to flat coat when it was way too cold outside. After I get through a chunk of my backlog I'll probably order another one to do it justice since the BD1 is my favorite out of all of them. I really wish a 1/100 BD1 would come out to go with the R/E100 Efreet coming out that I'm definitely gonna be picking up.
