***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!
Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

Reposting from last thread.
Can i mix normal paint with flat paint to get more flat paint? I have some Hobby Color flat white and i wanted more but i accidently bought normal white instead.
A kit I fucked up a while ago, so I sprayed enamel primer yesterday and getting to work today. I'm working on thinning my paint and working layer by layer. I'm hoping to end up with a desert ground type zaku. I'll touch up some rough surfaces, try a weathered effect, and add a dullcote as well
A picture that was saved well over a week,if not longer, that you're posting again to gain a little bit of attention on a Vietnamese watercolor board. Please refrain from wasting posting space and find something better to do with the endless amount of time you seem to have.
What paints match the base color of the Graze's two greens?
Yes I'm a retard for asking but:
If I want to remove seam lines on a kit I don't intend to paint, Is super gluing them together, then removing the excess glue with a hobby the best method or is there a better way?
I don't have access to the Tamiya cement crap.
You answered your own question. You use liquid plastic model cement to weld seams, superglue doesn't work the same. It actually dries harder than polystyrene.
>I don't have access to the Tamiya cement crap.
I actually prefer Plastruct® Bondene™ myself, but any liquid plastic model cement will work about the same. Quit being an idiot and figure out how to get the right materials.
You guys don't know the pain of trying to scratchbuild a weapon without a consistent appearance in-show
>some of which are stills that show it frontally
I sure hooe this is your first time, because otherwise you sound like a bitch to us folks who had to work from single illustrations that weren't meant to be ever turned into 3d-objects or from Youtube screenshots of stuff that moves by clipping through itself.
Pretty much all shops sell some brand of "hobby" glue for scale model kits. Even Home Depot should have at least one of those. If you're totally cray-cray, you could of course get high-quality pigmets, mix them to have the corret hue, grind them down to baby powder consistency and apply them across a gap filled with superglue. That'd fill the gap in the correct colour with the glue of your choice
>spoils within days once you've broken the seal
>cheaper than a proper polystryen glue that will remain useable for decades
shut the fuck up and stop replying to that attention whore you fucking retards, his amount of posts have been going down and let's keep it that way. Now that the image spammer is gone, once this twat finally fucks off because there's no attention for him to feed off of, this place won't be so shit anymore.
>You can get anything you need sent anywhere in the world.
Actually getting things like alclad paints, gaia notes psints, some aerosol things is pretty much impossible if you can not buy it locally - most international sellers don't bother with sea shipping and shipping it with airmail is forbidden.
Does anyone have any Gunpla reviewers they like to go to before buying a kit? Type V3 on Youtube has great production values but his kits always turn out badly. RRobbert184 is also good but he stopped making videos 10 months ago.
I check jabman25 for MGs, he also does RG and Reborns, he's not terrible at least and has built over 100 MGs and reviewed a lot of them on his channel, sometimes he paints them though but he always comments on when he does. Really up to date too.
Can anyone help me determine the two colors of blue on Gundam Heavyarms from the Endless Waltz movie? I have a MG heavyarms that I'm preparing to paint like the movie version and can't exactly determine the two colors.
Pic of what I'm talking about attached.
It looks like a dark/navy blue and then a grey blue or just regular blue?
As of right now I have a can of tamiya "navy" paint that I was going to use for the darker blue. but other than that I'm not sure. I'm asking because I'm colorblind and cannot accurately tell the shades of blue as sometimes they look grey and other times blue/green/grey.
I found one yesterday for thirteen dollars at my local hobby shop. They finally have reasonable prices. I'm building a nobel gundam right now while painting a rising on the side (sort of poorly sadly) but I can't wait to work on it myself.
yeah that isn't really edgy
where can i pre-order the april F.A.G?
I've been working on my HGUC RX-78-2. It's not much but it's the first Kit I have done and actually painted, and it makes a world of difference. It wasn't anything special, just cans of Tamiya color but I do like the results. I didn't have anything to panel line with after I painted so it's not totally done.
I want to get a little better at painting on HG kits before I move on to the MGs I have in my backlog.
>yfw the image spammer is a mod in disguise and thats why he wont ever go away
Are you really this blind?
I bet it's
>keep posting more stupid pictures
wow guys he's such a mastermind I bet he has a sick poster of the joker
pic related it's spamfit
Went to the bluefin warehouse sale today for gunpla. One of the few times I've gone to anything with a bunch of people in to gunpla before.
There was so much cringe.
Guys ripping on people for looking at kits of gundam they didn't like, guys trying to wave their e-peen around in public by showing that they knew more gunpla trivia, so much bad hygiene.
Holy shit I couldn't get away from that fast enough. Is this really what most of the gunpla crowd is like?
I can understand why the mods deleted posts from
the image spammer who wants us to move to his hug-box on /toy/but why were my posts deleted? Must be some confusion.
I would probly have to pull out my phone to prove how shit there prices are, which i couldn't do at cons while in Stormtrooper armor. i'll try next big one i go to, really wanted a Gouf 2.0 someone was selling.
it depends on the vendor, Bluefin usually has fair prices, R4L actually give discounts to gundam cosplayers from what ive seen, 3rd party sellers are the ones that will fuck you on price
isn't it just better to order online? I suppose in cons they will always increase prices to ridiculous amounts
>Get out of print Clanche for less than local japan hobby store prices ($7)
>Find out firsthand her design prevents her from being able to kneel worse than most HGs
>Her wrist cracks due to pressure from the ball joint on her wrists
Y u so cruel to my girl bandai?
nah that wont work. you'll never get it to box price sadly. you'll get probably 3-4 dollars knocked off though.
i live in d.c and every sakura festival there's this one guy selling gunpla for 3 times box price. mg wing zero for like 80 man.
for me cons usually have hard to find kits. a friend said he saw a nobel when he got the early dealers pass but once it was open to the public it was gone.
yep that's what I said. The show is shit but has some great designs. I just want to see cool robots duke it out with lazers and shit. If a certain series happens to have a good plot, characters and story, that's just bonus for me.
Same thing happened to my GN Archer. Poor girls and their tiny fragile wrists..
It's my first time doing an original piece, yeah. I've slapped a few parts on here and there but nothing completely from scratch before. I've reached a nice base with pla plate + green stuff, and I'll try to carve details in tomorrow.
Is there a better way to keep an MG Unicorn on an action base than the bracket that came with the Unicorn? it keeps falling since there isnt enough clutch on the bracket to hold the Unicorn in place
because LED gimmick and variants.
PGs are nice but they cater to the lowest common denominator, which is why we got a PG Strike Freedom instead of the Gundam that the series it is from is NAMED after. Why we got a WZC instead of the superior Wing Zero. Why we got a Red Frame Astray, at all.
We'll get a PG Sinanju before a Nu, mark my words
Legs are usually the worst.
I haven't gotten back to my Gabthley since I first started working on it because transforming legs terrify me.
nu is absolutely lowest common denominator tier though, it's one of the most popular suits period
Unicorn got one because it's a good "final piece" for the unicorn line
PG Nu is like the Half-Life 3 and FF7 remake of gunpla, it's the sure-fire hit they are in no rush to release and will do it when they need a boost
also I bet the expectations would be enormously high and they might want to keep it back for a tech jump
Remember: Autistic children who use masking and thinner deserve our pity.
>Buying a Kshatriya kit
>Not modding it into the superior Quin Mantha
I seriously hope you guys don't do this.
How's your reading comprehension? It only shows AS and MS, not TS like I said. I thought you weren't supposed to use AS? Or was it only PS? Or at the very least not mix AS and TS.
Damn I should have gotten RX-78 clear expo as well
Looking good, planning on painting all the yellow parts gold?
The art of gundam RX 78
That internal detail. Western fleshlights BTFO
I don't remember that one being on sale there
might be earlier i guess
No, people who sperg out and make complete idiots out of themselves on the internet trying to be THAT guy, the "actually, I think you'll find that...." guy that no one really likes.
yea how so? im new to gundam building but damn my local comic book store jew me even harder by charging like $4 more on each kit. they only had the gusion and charged $20 for it.
well if we're comparing to local japanese prices:
HG Gusion = Originally $10 (Yours is $4 more)
HG Virtue = Originally $13 (Yours is $6 more)
HG GP02A = Originally $17 (Yours is $4 more)
So I have a question here, Would it be worth it to spray a clear matte finish on my parts and THEN do my detail painting, then clear gloss, decal and panel line wash, and then clear matte again? I'm thinking that that first coat of cleare matte can work kind of like primer but still allow the color to show through. What do you guys think?
Does flat paints like Mr.Hobby H20 have the same looks as a can of flat topcoat? Can i mix it with non-flat paint to make it flat? I want the flat look on my models and i don't like the spray can.
You're forgetting the shipping fees. In total he's only paying 5 dollars more than if he had ordered from Japan, most likely. And the fact that he probably wouldn't have to wait several weeks for delivery makes those few extra bucks worth it for some people. And it's always good to order from local suppliers, it keeps it alive and shows them that there are demand for the kits. You have no idea how many places there are that are perpetually out of stock because they rarely buy more than a few kits to resell, because of the perceived low demand and lack of interest.
thanks. Yes, I was going to leave them yellow but after paiting the v fin and chest vents I decided to go ahead with the gold
save for the thrusters, I plan to paint them silver and the inner yellow part will be metallic red
Look up the brand of paint and the paint type it is
Most acrylics thin with alcohol but some are vetter thinned with water. Depending on what you are using the paint for will depend on what you use to thin.
People have used water and acrylic as panel wash.
And how you plan to apply the paint with hand or air brush determines hilow you want to thin
>I don't want the NSA tracking me because I read your terrorist manifesto.
They are tracking you anyway. All that reading terrorist manifestos and watching torture instruction vids does is adding an additional tag on your dataset. You'll also get more US Army ads.
Who has experience with Taobao? I want to buy G-Bouncer and 1.5 Gundam kits, it says they're only 100 Yuan, which is really nice. However under the color option it says "缺货~全额预定~!" on the G-Bouncer and "暫時沒貨,不要拍" on the 1.5 Gundam.
Now both say add to cart/Buy now and I can get to the purchase screen, however I'm a little hesitant because of them both saying "out of stock" in the color section.
Does this mean they're in-stock or not?
Probably uses the Rodi frame, yeah. It's got the same eye shape, same side skirts, and very similar shoulder armor and cockpit hatch. I wonder who's it is though? Union workers on the other colonies rebelling that was at the end of this episode? Repaired Man Rodi's from the Brewers that Tekkadan was going to sell?
For some reason I have a feeling this will be the only MS that doesn't get a model. Shame, I quite like it.
Morons that like to use the "gunpla is freedom" card are usually the ones that really suck at nub removal, seam welding, gap filling, masking and painting.
When it's used in a show like Build Fighters it's used by people that are REALLY good at everything I just mentioned. When it's used in the real world it's usually by people that have shit skills and think they are above criticism.
Ever since Build Fighters aired that's all I seem to hear, especially when people defend their piss poor attempt at gunpla. If you use that phrase then you probably can't build properly and didn't read the guide. That means you suck at life.
My preorder for RG Mk.II's Flying Armor and G-Defenser finally shipped, now to wait for SAL shipping
There's the Gusion rebake, maybe that's the man rodi rebake?
Also, how the fuck do you pronounce Gusion? I've just been calling it goosh goosh because it's a fat fuck and it raped a little boy.
So if they ever restock, is the only difference between the NG 1/100 Gundams from 00 and their designer color counterparts is lighter colors and a LED? Are they almost the same articulation and buildwise?
Completely the same, yes.
Another difference is in the sticker sheet. The shiny stickers used for the eyes and GN Drives is much more vibrant on the normal versions, and a plainer, not-as-reflective silver for the designer color versions.
dont even bother trying to order directly from Taobao, you cant make accounts, for from or have them ship to your country. go to a middleman website like Bhiner and search for items through there. i think Taobao middlemen are usually only worth the price for unique third party items usually only found in China, after international shipping and middleman fees (100 RMB is already about $16) you are probobly going to end up paying more than just through a regular online retailer. also that place is flooded with knock-offs; luckily they are priced appropriately so if a HG is selling for $5 its fake, period.
Just finished my first gunpla!
Sorry for the poor image quality, I'm still messing with settings on my phone's camera.
I think I'll get the Gusion next.
zeta's full of details that can be missed, like this nemo that was captured by the titans and repainted into GM II colors
it has the nemo's larger backpack, shoulders, and skirt armor, so it's definitely not a GM
I tried mimicking the pose on the box, but it's really unstable that way so this is an approximation.
There's some MSV suits in the episode where they invade Jaburo, like a Guntank II and GM Cannon. I think there's some captured Zeon suits in those episodes, as well- I seem to recall a Flight-Type Gouf.
I ran out of posing ideas very quickly.
I should be able to do some really neat battle poses when I get my Gusion though.
Yeah, and in the episodes where the AEUG are being chased after leaving Jaburo in their stolen Garuda carrier, the Gaplant is being escorted by Act Zakus which are a OYW era high performance variation on the Zaku design, instead of the usual blue Hizacks.
So not so much modification yet, but I intend to mod my Kshatriya to have the mono eye and chest area glow pink. Added in glow paint to the thrusters on the binders and feet, and modded a stand to have LEDs. Was going to flicker like a flame, but the circuit board is old, and one of the copper rings came off while placing the board on the stand.
Why the fuck does a normal release RD Destiny Impulse manage to have a full armament of two hugeass swords and cannons plus a redesigned forearms with beam shield emitter and boomerang shoulders while the horrendously overpriced P fucking Bandai exclusive MG Destiny Impulse only have two lousy cannons?
And they bothered to make Force and Sword Impulse in MG but no representation of the Blast anywhere, even in HG.
Fucking get your shit together Bandai. Fuck.
My regular G-Self has been borrowing the reflector bits for the OP pose.
Why is she either ludicrously expensive or sold out everywhere?
>you cant make accounts
I made an account and filled out shipping for my country. There's even instructions to set up international shipping.
Also given the two units I'm trying to order aren't easy to find (Like $60 and $80+ for HGs) I'm gonna try out Taobao, even if I'm out like $30 in the end for the two, that's not a huge loss if they're decent knock offs.
I don't know about that normal one but I just literally saw the berserk mode Nobel at a local store at normal HG price.
Don't know if its as rare or sought after though.
>Cool thunderbolt is getting animated, maybe some new kits like that dom and sexy guntank will come out!
Actually how about slight recolors of 2 kits
wow a grave injustice has been corrected, how could I have lived with the old ones
Pretty sure these are just customs and not actual releases. That'd be absolutely ridiculous to make releases of minor color changes. Like I know there's the P-Bandai stuff and the two different Wing Ver. EWs but this would just be asinine.
wow you're pretty blasted, sorry if your dad is Patrick Bandai or something
I didn't see this coming because NO ONE DID because it's FUCKING RETARDED
reprints are one thing, but they are announcing this shit like it's some new version
this isn't exactly some sleeves variant, it's like almost indistinguishable
How to get rid of shitty circular in/outdents? Couldn't find a guide on that.
Figured that'd be the case, don't think anyone local carries tamiya putty unfortunately... just some of that squadron putty... gah
Nah tiny engine straps for the 1/26000 solo ship.
If that's the case then why are other older kits out for way, way less?
It must be the waifuism. I'm certain of it.
First timer here too, and I gotta say that looks pretty sweet. Planning on getting one myself.
Anyways, I'd suggest panel lining it, if you want. It's a bit hard to do, but it makes everything stand out much more!
Guys, I'm looking to make an original-but-fluffy "yet another late war Zeon prototype from Pezun."
I was honestly just going to recolor a late OYW HGUC and add on Builders Parts or System Weapons and say it had a better generator or magnetic coating (or some other mcguffin/gimmick) in my head.
But I'd like to ask your opinion for the HGUC base:
Should I work with the Gelgoog Jager, or with the Zaku II Kai?
The Jager is vaguely older and less able to be customized (I have a vanilla one I built), but I've never built the slightly newer Zaku II Kai to tell.
Should I just give up entirely and fuck around with a much newer Zaku F2 kit?
What would give it that old MSV feel of both being clunky but also a prototype high-spec Zeon MS (like in old pictures of the Galbaldy a or Pezun Dowadge)? Or what's the fluffiest/true-to-setting?
You think a Dom is worth exploring? At all, and yeah, after playing around with the Gelgoog some more, it's fun and sexy but poseability (and customization) is crap (which is understandable, since the kit is ancient at this point).
I think otherwise I'll go with the Kai kit. It's barely any older than the Jager (and much younger than the Zaku F2 kit), but it's vaguely more reminiscent of the Act Zaku prototype.
Any other MS kits worth considering? I'm not going too far with a custom build; it'll essentially be what the Gelgoog A Baoa Qu Battle Type is to a Gelgoog vanilla (which is just verniers tacked on and the armor futzed with a little).
Eh, the gyan was the next revive and there's been like zero additional info past the announcement. Dom won't be for a while
Yeah, I was also making a space-type late war suit, so even a vanilla ground-type Dom wouldn't help me much.
I can actually understand giving the Gouf a Revive kit, but why the hell did the Gyan get one? Are they popular at all in any respect?
I like the Gyan too, but not so much that I would make the business decision to release a Revive kit of it before a grunt MS like the Dom or Gelgoog.
Didn't the Gyan get a HGBF kit? Or was it not made? I didn't follow any of the HGBF releases aside from the option part kits (long, long, long since overdue from Bandai).
/gpg/, help me. I haven't been able to build my HGUC Zaku I lately due to work and just plain lack of enthusiasm. I've got more kits to do and am planning on having more shipped. The unbuilt kits I have now are just sitting on a shelf or are chilling out in a bin in my closet.
How do you stay motivated throughout a build? What techniques do you employ to keep yourself on track?
you should look at a set of tamiya side cutters or Xuron 2175ETs whichever is easier to get, both are great. If you have big hands the Xurons will feel better. Avoid the Mr. Hobby nippers, they are the same style as the tamiya but worse.
God Hands are great if you can get them for less than 60 bucks, but probably not worth more than that
I want to get the MG Gouf 2.0 but everywhere seems to want $50ish for it. best i can find is amazon for $42. any other better deals going on?
I'd get the Gouf Custom but its looking a bit dated
Is there a reason my posts are getting deleted?
Seriously though. If anyone has Dahack poses share them with me. Mine is feeling stale.
Amazon tends to flux a bit so keep half an eye on it.
I paid 36 bucks for mine initially, but got it refunded completely because of issues, then got the kit about a week after my claim.
yeah still waiting for Amiami to get back on the pricing but guessing from previous purchases it should be around $35-6 so i'll give it a go.
Any good custom ideas for a Gouf though? i cant think of any Aces besides Ramba that used it. i'll probly leave it vanilla since i Ral was great.
Heres my still in progress Anavel Gato Gelgoog, i think i need to top coat before panel lining a fully painted kit? so i'm stuck waiting for the snow to melt. not sure what else to do after the panel line, decals.
You can always make up your own ace, ace squad or ace with squad mates.
You could show an ace progression set of models, going from a Zaku 1 or 2 to the Gouf and further on with the ace's colors.
Also keep in mind the the 2.0 Gouf can be built as the A or B type.
The A being normal hands and no heat rod.
B is the classic Gouf.
>You can always make up your own ace, ace squad or ace with squad mates.
This. I love seeing people do this.
I did mine years ago.
Why are Grazes so much fun to mess with?
Cut it as far away from the actual piece as possible. Use a sharp knife to whittle small shavings off of the nub at a time, and then finish with progressively finer grits of sand paper. Or go a step further and break out the plastic polish.
Correct. Theses ones.
Toss on the leg thrusters/legs from this Graze with that Graze's shoulders and those wings. It'd be a pretty sweet lookin kit IMO.
