Actually, I need to correct myself for grossly interpreting the "13 Children" ability... I think - it's actually a "disadvantage" ability - Vifam and Neofam can ONLY support each other with their Support actions - they can receive Support Attack/Defends from other units, but they won't give a shit about chipping in themselves.

I'm starting to think all the menu icons are in the .exe or something, because I looked through all 17 .dats and didn't find any images for SAVE, LOAD, or whatever. And straight up blanking out the text file that handled menu stuff in FMW2 didn't even touch the icons either.

At this rate the game's script will be in english but all of its menus will be in japanese, which is like the exact opposite of the typical SRW patch.

Depends on how easy you make it to crit - if it's a modern game where you can have normal characters hit +50 crit chance easily, ok, but if it's GC where getting crits is like pulling teeth sometimes then fuck it - but in general I'd say that's a bit too much RNGwork.

I was just going off of what the English used for the appropriate midi file was as listed in the game's sound test.

Considering the game gives you an entire list of music that's supposed to correspond to the units within the game, I really wish it was easier to find said midis. All the options I've used didn't work out and/or have become lost as I've forgotten what I tried. I just remember using a 21-part file set that had a handful of songs that the game said were supposed to be used, and the rest were unrelated stuff like Fire Emblem and other RPG songs.


Speaking of SRC, there's another update just recently released. Can't really decipher much of what's going on, but at least one thing has something to do with KOS-MOS.

Bizarrely-low maximum stats for an SSR due to the fact that it's not a gasha unit (event reward), but it has three offensive passives despite being a Defender.

They're not terrible because you could easily get 5 of them, and FUBing a single unit is almost always better than a non-FUB'd unit that's supposed to be stronger - and it's fucking cheap for an SSR, only costs 15 I think, so it can fit into your team easier.

Problem is, its actual strength is lower to compensate for the weight, and it's a Defender, and most people don't use Defender teams. I made her my leader though, since she's still going to be better than Exia (as soon as I get enough upgrade materials for her, at least.)

OE made me like the little RyuKnight here. Interesting tidbit, besides getting one more combo attack than Neo/OE gave him (and letting him keep them after switching to RyuPaladin), Zephyr gets the SRC equivalent of voice clips whenever you cast a spirit with him.

Zephyr has a few vaguely wind related things - like its name - but I dunno about that.

Magidora has all sorts of spells. I can remember a fire, wind, and ice spell off the top of my head, though I think it had lightning too? That was more Steru's thing though.

It might be from the OVAs. Fuck if I know, no one subbed those and they're apparently not very good. Or it might be from the show and I'm just forgetting it because I like to block most of the latter half of that show out, there's a lot of dumb shit from it.

Guess what the gacha doesn't ever want to give me? You guessed it: Defenders. At the time I only had two, and both were underlevelled. Right now, I have 5, but only two are usable (Imber and Psyco Gundam). I had NO Defenders at the time, aside from a level 1 guy and a fucking Getter 3. I still pulled out with all the Imbers, and with that, my level 1 guy, and a few Shooters, I pulled it off.

Super Inazuma Kick and Imber's finisher were very useful for killing everything in the event, since their finishers are so fucking powerful and hit a wide range of things.

You reminded me it's possible to decompile Game Maker executables, which did confirm that FMW3 lists all of its menus in the executable file.

If we had all the extensions Sanbondo had we could edit that then recompile, but we don't so yeah. This seems like the kind of thing that might be fixable given enough time and effort but...

Not a bad battleship in-game. One thing I noted while I played was that it could have a pretty lengthy sequence for it's strongest attack. I know that most battleship animations in SRW involve their strongest attack having a long sequence of getting the main cannons ready and whatnot, it makes me wonder just what kind of superior firepower Yamato's holding on to.

Well, the intention is to lower the potential draws to increase the power of what you're pulling - you can build up a lot of a single unit in a shorter period of time if there's less SRs and the cost is lower. It's just that most of this month's draws are shit (capped by poor Getter 3 being completely useless since there still isn't a +Land part), which kills the viability of it for this month.

I think that's the transformed version Dai-Sword, something we covered a couple of threads ago. Normally it's green but it's upgrade is silver like the one in the image, and it has a standard mode, a sword mode and one other mode I'm not sure what it is. I was thinking more like Reid/Chloe. Cless' moveset was a little on the weird side since he was the very first, so he and Stahn had moves like Swallow Dance which were given to other types of characters later on.

Hybrids are a delicate concept, it's hard to find a good balance, I don't dislike hybrid characters but most of the times they're either OP or useless. Having a definite class is good but a bit boring in the long run for me, the best would be having an open system that allows you to choose your class and get different results and move/ability sets depending on how you play, but that is not part of the Tales mindset anyway and would feel too weird for most players.

I know, right! She didn't even need a passive that upped her OL gauge. Sword Rain+Alpha+Omega racked up enough hits on its own. It's just that they downscale the damage past 50 hits so doing pressure infinites means you need waaaaaaaaay more hits than normal for the same amount of damage.

That's probably the class that was hit the most by the nerfs ogether with Warrior, a shame, I'm also seriously mad they gave SHUGOHOJIN to the Paladin and Magic Knight got shafted hard, it even lost fucking Thunder Blade of all things, what's the fucking point of the Magic Knight if you only have starter to mid tier spells? And let's not forget the Fighter sad RM3 iteration.
I mean, I loved the Gunner class even though it's beyond broken, but I mained Magic Knights in both RM and RM2, but basically anything besides Gunner, Ninja and Dual Swordsman is subpar.

It was, mainly because it had a bit of Luke and Presea's moveset making it pretty fun if not a bit impractical to use, then in RM3 you have a hollow shell that's basically a swordsman expy with no break or combo potential at all and a shitty Hi Ougi.

And you know what makes me even more mad? The fact that they made an april fool joke on RM4 coming for Vita and never actually did anything with it, fucking wasted potential. Imagine a RM4 with revised movesets, Hearts R engine, original animations for the descender instead of reusing Symphonia assets and more than 100 characters, that would be the goat Tales fangame

RM games are more about the fanservice than the gameplay, RM is pretty clunky overall but it's pretty fun in terms of character interaction, some classes like Fighter, Warrior or Hunter have their best iteration here.
RM2 fixed a lot of stuff with RM's system, added new classes, shuffled some moves around and added a lot of characters, some classes, like Bishop are at the top of their games here, awesome music and best Kanonno as well.
RM3 added a new class, the Gunner which is horribly broken, you know about Chloe in Legendia? Imagine it ranged, with less cooldowns and disgustingly high attack and break potential since you dual wield , but plays basically like Dante so it's straight up KUHRAYZEE, classes rebalance is mostly garbage though, absolutely great character interactions and more than 100 characters up to Graces, pretty maps and music as well and tons of stuff to do, also quite a few villain cameo fights. There's like 300+ skits some of which are the best I've seen, Hisui's skits are the fucking best, Arche's food poisoning is great and tons of Koyasu comedic relief with Jade's glasses possessing those who wear it.

But if you want to get into the series there's better stuff, Rebirth or even the PS2 Destiny R remakes have great classic gameplay, the PSP does have a few neat ports though, namely Destiny 2 and Rebirth, which are actually pretty good ones, you should also check Narikiri Dungeon X, it's pretty decent, though the original characters are a bit of a hit or miss for me.
