Gunpla / Plamo General

***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Our next Group Build!
Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

No, or at least not withoug a third part like the arms from something like the battle arms set. It can hold the weapons, but the swing arms it comes with don't connect to barbatos (they don't really connect to anything but red warrior's backpack, which feels like a design oversight for a weapon pack) and barbatos's swing arms don't connect to the weapons.

So much for bandai's stupid ALL HG plan eh? issuing fucking build custom parts that aren't even compatible with most HGs...
>anyone ever get a bad print of a kit?
My MG Banshee norn was a piece of shit.
One loose knee joint, one loose knee psycho armor/frame, armor on the psycho frame at the forearms keep falling off when the shield is attached cuz its too heavy, shield connectors are also loose, and the moulding lines caused by a moulding defect on the v-fin that juts forward made it seperate in half (it didn't break, it's like it was moulded to snap in two without effort instead of being one solid piece of v-fin).
Not to mention the extra grenade launcher pack is a piece of shit design that gets in the way of the torso and the backpack, preventing it from swiveling.
What the fuck bandai. get your shit together ffs. maybe get some better quality control workers.
Its just the one end of the swing arms that don't connect. The weapons themselves just have a basic 3mm hole. I'm mostly miffed they made the lame red warrior one and then never did one for the leopard da vinci weapons despite it actually using 3mm on everything and all the weapons being perfectly set up on their own runners separate from the bodies runners.
>Compassionate BanDai Employee: "Hey guys, let's release a HGBC pack of the Leopard Da Vinci's weapons."
>Everyone else at BanDai: "And miss out on all the more money we could get from having them buy a more expensive extra entire kit they don't really need? HAH!
When will you learn? bandai doesn't fucking care about you just your money.
So I'm picking out of every RG available right up until the Z'Gok, what should I? My main choices right now are either MK II or Aile Strike. I've often heard that the MK II is the sturdiest and most stable of them all around, what about the Strike? It looks potentially extremely back-heavy, but maybe they got around that using some magic?
Or maybe I should just get an MG Jesta
Besides some extra panel lines the RG Strike doesn't really add anything that the MG Ver.RM doesn't already do. It is quite back-heavy due to the Aile Striker but a bit of super glue tightening the waist and hips is fine for that. The RG MkII is still the better buy without question.
like the way the RG Aile Striker pack looks though. Sleeker and less bulk fat wings which was a stupid redesign decision... seriously, all the Aile packs were sleek and sharp and the RM made the wings fatter. the fuck was that about.
> I was surprised by how purple the actual pieces were, since I always thought it was supposed to be more of an indigo hue.
yes, I had the same impression of the Hi Nu too, most reviews and videos out there make it look very blueish, but the parts are actually a very bright and nice purple
>yes, I had the same impression of the Hi Nu too, most reviews and videos out there make it look very blueish, but the parts are actually a very bright and nice purple
which it fucking should be. hate all the hi-nus being colored blue all the damn time.
kinda like what they did with the first rozen zulu.
Why is it that Gunpla General seems to be the only place on /m/ that gets really affected by shitposting? I can understand the IBO threads since shitposting comes naturally to any currently airing Gundam show, and to a lesser extent any other currently airing show. The SRW Generals are fine, the Kamen Rider/Sentai Generals are fine, the Symphogear Generals are heiki hecchara, even the smaller generals like the 70s/80s mechs never get this bad.
I wouldn't care too much about this, but it's been like this constantly for over eight months now with no signs of improvement. Between the image spamming, misplaced filenames, pornposting, snapfag, and the lack of moderation team attention it makes me question what's going on here when I see that gif of the closeup of some chick getting fucked get posted and deleted multiple times in a row, but someone can go and fill up a thread with GBWC entries and reposts from here and /toy/ each thread and almost always get away with it.
Well that's because we're probably one of the more autistic generals on the board and can't seem to ignore the shitposting even though it's as simple as not replying. But nah, everyone has to get in their two cents and fan the fire. The spammer should obviously be dealt with by mods by shitty tripfags can be mitigated internally.
It's unrealistic to expect someone to babysit these threads all the time
It's hard to ignore when the thread hits image limit on page 2/3, especially in a thread like this where posting original creations and asking for criticism are more important than seeing the same image of a Zaku F2 shooting a GM Cannon II over and over again.
Just hide the spam, if image limit gets hit then a new thread will be made. There's unfortunately not much that any individual can do about the spamming since none of the higher ups seem to want to acknowledge problems on this board. We'll just have to deal with it for now until someone with any real power steps in to curb it.
Because this thread has the most pathetic manchildren of /m/ who play with fucking plastic toy robots and by all rights belong on /toy/
You're on a board where people watch cartoons made to sell toys and model kits. You're on a board where we have threads about yearly airing toku shows made to sell new roleplay toys, gimmick collectables, combining robots, and other toys. You're on a board where everyone here most likely has a kit/figure of their favorite mecha.
The majority of /m/'s most beloved shows, be it Gundam, Macross, Kamen Rider, Mazinger, or anything else were primarily made with merchandise in mind, and there's nothing wrong about discussing that.
Yeah I do like the purple they used for the kit. Seems different from other purple kits like the Dom or Rozen Zulu. Plus it helps differentiate better from the previous Hi-Nu MG, besides the obvious proportional differences.
Personally I would like to see one done in the Zeta Plus A1 Test colors.
Or we can just wait until the shitposter dies of old age knowing he just wasted his entire life posting the same thing over and over again on an image board
>Build 1/35 mechatro WeGo
>On a whim put the limbless body of a 1/35 soldier into it.
>Now considering turning what is essentially a childrens school bus into a military power armor.
This feels morally wrong somehow.
What should I start painting over the weekend? The Gerbera is gonna get Gato's Blue/Green colorscheme, just was too lazy to make a photoshop for it
>browsing dalong for kits with kitbash potential
>start looking at other kits because they look cool
>start adding kits to a buylist because what if you forget about them?
>that moment when you realize you've fallen to the plastic addiction
That's unanimous enough for me
>churning out kits like mad
>have pretty large backlog of kits still despite this
>work fucks me over with OT, no time to build any more
>schedule returns to normal 6 months later
>desire to build is gone despite all of this extra money in the bank from the OT I put in
I've built one kit in two years and I hate that I cant muster up the drive to work on something. I'm going to give the MG V2 I ordered a shot this weekend and hopefully I can push through because the MG V2's been my gunpla grail for a long time.
starting this guy tonight
The purple thing that holds the v-fin to the forehead, is moulded off-center so you're gonna end up with a wonky, mis-aligned, off-center v-fin. molding defect by bandai's amazing quality control group I assume.
Fucking toy m8 i swear those fags are stupid
Instead look at my awesome first painted build
>tfw when i built my MG Kampfer i fucked up something in the right leg so its always lose
>can never do cool poses now.
maybe its because i painted every piece but i cant open that sucker for shit
why don't you post some of your works then faggot
I got my little Grimoire protecting my weeb stuff.
First kit in almost a year, very fun. Now I just need to buy painting equipment again.
Just finished this kit. What do you guys think?
I had the choice of leaving the line there and keeping the gimmick where the sights can swing out or fixing the seam and making the sights unable to move. I'm sure most people would have gotten rid of the seam but I wanted the sights to still work.
Those are tiny decals, painting them instead looks like it would be pretty easy
I'm pretty sure those are foil stickers.
<< these are decals.
scratchbuilt a new weapon for my scopedog zaku
I'm using the Tamiya basic hobby kit, and glancing at my completed models, I'm noticing that the included nippers sort of suck at cutting with any sort of accuracy. What's a nice sharp pair of nippers that will flawlessly cut something out of the runner with a minimum amount of fuss and superb accuracy?
>Building a Unicorn Gundam
>Assumed it had a revolver, but couldn't find one in the box
>Guessed it was either for full armor or in a weapons pack
>Do research and can't find any inclination it had one, anywhere. Must have got confused with the beam magnum and beam gatling
I am kinda annoyed, it was one of my favourite parts about Unicorn and it seems to have been made up in my head
im building a pile bunker similar to this. the attachment point is from the shield of an r-gyagya
Currently working on the worst kit ever made, LM Daughtress Custom. Decided I'd improve the articulation and have a stab at some panel scribing. I assume this is going to turn out horribly- but I guess there's no better way to learn, right?
Do what I started. Swap the limbs out entirely and make a custom.
Sad to say my HG exia dark matter had issues holding the swords it came with... Even when swapping hand parts, it still couldn't hold them... I feel like this was an issue with the sculpting of the hilts.
bandai likes to baww and bitch about bootlegs but their shit isn't that hot either. sure they have good moulding and better plastic but their fucking quality control is a piece of garbage sometimes.
sure most of the time the defects you can fix yourself but when you get super screwed where a part magically breaks for no reason, well shit...
he doesn't know whaat hugbox means, he just keeps using the word because he's assblasted that the mods in that thread are competent enough to delete his shit since he's an aborted fetus waste of space
Good news, brothers. Plamor let me keep my finger.
I always hated those stupid fucking wing effect parts.
the WZC having feather like non-feather bird wings is faggotry enough, but those 3rd party feather things is just pure fucking toilet grade design shit.
Just remember kids- no matter how much your life might suck, no matter how much of an aspie you are, no matter how pathetic you might think you are at this hobby, there's someone out there who is much more worthy of pity than you.
This is the lesson you should take from all this. Rejoice.
Maybe any time the spammer starts up we should just make a new thread, and when /m/ is half full of spam threads maybe someone will finally notice and do something about it
Would prolly just get banned for it though sadly
I found the perfect nail polish that happens to be a pearlescent clear for an upcoming project and noticed that it's a lacquer. I was thinking about doing a test thinning to see if it would work out or not.
What's the worst that could happen?
>What's the worst that could happen?
you stupid stupid motherfucker.
that's like saying things couldn't possibly get any worse. Which is something only a moron would say.
stop tempting fate.
those damn stickers that come with real grades, like the gold ones on the joints are a piece of shit. they keep peeling off. foil stickers are okay if you apply them properly and firmly.
they fit fine. they just won't stick for long. ever.
the material used on those stickers are weird... it's not like the foil stickers... it's like they're thinner or something.
I think I read somewhere they're called "decal sickers". Like a cross between a dry transfer decal an foil stickers...
It's as >>13751000 said, it's basically a little cabin-piece similar to one of them heavy equipment machines (cranes, etc) that has a "platform-crane" attached to it. Zaku tank comes with two people, I haven't coloured them in yet. Not sure how I want to paint them honestly, probably zeek space uniform is what I'll go with.
